Swine flu vaccine: Will you or won't you?
Earlier this week, it was announced that Broward public schools, and the county health department, would vaccinate students against H1N1, for free. This is quite a convience for parents.
But I wonder how many will opt out?
A recent AP-Gfk poll revealed that 38 percent of parents nationally would not give permission for their children to be vaccinated at school. Some are concerned about the side effects; some say the swine flu threat is no greater than any other flu.
There are those who eschew any kind of vaccination for fear of all sorts of terrible things; and then there are the germ phobes who would vaccinate their children against other humans if possible.
I'll probably let my kids get vaccinated, but that's mostly because I'm lazy. It's free and I don't have to schlepp them to the doctor. What's not to love about that?
What are you going to do? Take our poll here.

Comments
I would not vaccinate my children with a vaccine that they rushed to get out there. Plus Swine flu has very mild symptoms. It's like getting stitches for a paper cut. The possible side effects of this vaccine would not be worth the risk.

No way in H3ll will my kids get vaccinated by the school, they're too stupid to teach, can you see the illegals they'd bring in to administer the vaccinations? They would use the same needle over and over again, or the same nose spray over & over. I'm putting the school board on notice, you come near my kids, you better have your will finished.

On October 1 2009, a former federal health minister dismisses as "crackpots and conspiracy theorists" those who would actively discourage Australians from having their swine flu vaccine'. October 2nd, the San Fransisco Chronicle publishes that 'Everybody seems to be saying TRUST THE GOVERNMENT but it's hard to trust the H1N1 vaccination campaign' and on October 4rd, the Washington Post wonders 'When the swine flu vaccine finally arrives this week, will Americans line up to get it?' and CBS News writes about health care workers protesting the flu vaccine mandate. October 6th Foodconsumer publishes 'Do NOT Let Your Child Get Flu Vaccine -- 9 Reasons Why' and writes that 'modern medicine has no explanation for autism, despite its continued rise in prevalence. Yet autism is not reported among Amish children who go unvaccinated'. October 7th Healthnews writes that 72 percent are concerned about potential vaccine side effects and the Examiner writes that' theorists believe that government may force people to take the vaccine'. October 8th Times&Transscript publishes that 'a mercury-based preservative called thimerosal would be included as one of the substances in the H1N1 vaccine', Medill Reports writes that Dr. Mayer Eisenstein is advising his patients to say no and is convinced that vaccines cause autism and the Los Angeles Times Blog publishes that media commentators Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh have apparently fallen prey to the loony websites of the anti-vaccine folks and that Beck would do "the exact opposite" of what the government recommended and attend a swine flu party. October 9th, The Christian Science Monitor publishes that 'the vaccine is opposed, moreover, by naturopaths and even a well-known epidemiologist' and that Glenn Beck from Fox News has devoted hours to ask 'why the World Health Organization, "Big Pharma," and the government are hyping a pandemic'?

I believe that parents should all talk to the doctors they are the best to inform whether or not to do this, because we become so wrap with government issues that we tend to forget that our lives and children lives are involved in this. We all have a natural human tendecy to rebel against anything that is new or unknown, that is why things happen and get out of control then the same government that told us what to do to avoid gets the blame for us not doing it. So as a parent I want to get educated about this and discuss it with my children doctor's doctor and then make a rational decision based on the best interest for my children.
