Why do celebrity single moms get so much attention?
I know celebrities in general get a lot of attention. But I’ve noticed these days when a celebrity mom declares she’s a single mom she’s elevated to another level of stardom.
Kate Gosselin from "Jon & Kate Plus 8" seem to be on every single-mom blog these days. There are blogs out there strictly dedicated to the celebrity single mom and their trials and tribulations.

I’m sorry, but while I know being a single mom is not easy for anyone, I don’t see why celebrity single moms should be given any special accolades. Most of these celebrities have a team of support staff helping them raise their kids.
They don’t have to worry at 5:30 when they’re asked to work late who will pick up their child from aftercare at school. They don’t have to stress about whether there’s enough in their budget to keep their children at a good daycare.
When I think of inspirational single moms, I think of a young mom I met recently, who works the early morning shift at my local supermarket. She has to get her nine-year-old son and her two-year-old daughter up everyday by 5 a.m. and shuttle one to preschool and the other to her sister's house before traveling almost an hour to work.
I think of all my single moms, who despite the work/life challenges manage to put in a full day at work, volunteer at their child’s school when they can and make a decent dinner at night, with no dad or partner to help.
I think of my single moms doing it day in and day out, without a t.v. crew or gang of paparazzi capturing their every step.
While I’m happy that celeb single moms are helping to shed the stigma sometimes associated with being a single mom, I’m not looking their way for inspiration.

No they're not.
Being a celeb single mom isn't the same as being a non celeb single mom. Celebs are rich. They can afford things that make being a single mom a piece of cake.

I'm not really sure why someone like Kate is considered a single mom anyway. Her ex may be a moron, but he's present in their children's lives and she has a team of nannies. Is that really the definition of single mom? I heard an NBA wife on TV the other day calling herself a "single mom" since her husband is out traveling with his team so often. I wanted to throw my shoe at the TV! Give me a break.

I am with you Elita. Just because your spouse travels alot does not make you a SINGLE mom.

I truly have no pity for celeb-single moms... I mean let me shed some light to my day: It starts at 5am I have two kids and a Niece with her infant under my care. We are out of the house after I make sure everyone eats a good breakfast at 6:30am. Then first stop is my eldest who I had to put in early care because of time. So she is the first in her school @ 7am then next is my youngest whom I can't afford early care so I am waiting at his school parking lot til 7:25am to rush him in.... Then I get dropped off @ 7:35am and my niece rushing to her school where she meets her sitter at the parking lot in order to be seated in her class by 8am. then its the same routine in the afternoon so we all get home at 6:30pm... I send everyone off the bath or start homework while I am cooking for my starving kids! we eat around 7:30ish depending what I have on the stove and then quick review of HW and reading then off to bed by 10pm... Then it puts me in house chores(Laundry, cleaning sorting next clothes, preparing lunches,etc...) that is my routine day in day out... WITH zero help, I get to bed around 12am if I am lucky... I wish these stardom mom really have a day in my shoes. THAT is what single parenting is... I work hard and I don't live off the government nor celeb pay!(I wish..lol) Ohh did I mention my beat up car that I am tired of being robbed by the mechanics...
