Four-legged Iraq vet enters civilian life
Army Staff Sgt. Donald Tabb and Master Sgt. Bo, a black Labrador retriever, were a team serving a military detail in Iraq. Both were riding in a vehicle two months ago when it was hit by a bomb. Tabb died in the blast but Bo survived, although wounded near his left eye.

Now Bo is being honorably discharged -- and given to his deceased partner's family, who live outside of Atlanta. The military is all Bo has known. Here is wishing him a swift adjustment to the peaceful civilian life he deserves.

Wish I could remember more details to help Google, but there was another equally nice story about a month ago.
The parents live near Tampa and the dog was shipped to Washington state(??).
A marine on patrol found a scrawny dog during Iraqi patrol and doing a patrol he wasn't even assigned to. He fed the dog some scraps and had to return to base a couple of hours away. The next week he sees the dog again and the dog has been stabbed. He tries to nurse the wounds and feed the dog, but he has to leave and it won't be till a few weeks until he can look for the dog again. He's most certain the dog won't survive because it's very cold. But a few weeks later he finds the dog again. The base camp decided to give him 72 hours to get the dog out of the country and he made arrangements with different countries to get the dog the necessary quarantine stuff and the family raised money to get the dog shipped to the U.S.
They shipped the dog to where the marine was based which I think was Washington state. Somebody there is going to care for the dog until the marine's tour of duty is done.

Hey KCK -- I think I remember this story. Didnt the dog have to walk many miles to find the soldier again? I'll see if I can find it and post it.
