Smallville: Lex/Ollie Backstory

OK, maybe we're bigger comics geeks that we should admit in polite company, but we'll confess that we got a giggle out of Lex and Oliver attending "Excelsior Academy." Did anyone else get a flash of Stan Lee's editor's letters in all the Marvel comics? Granted, Marvel's the wrong comics publisher – Superman, Green Arrow and the rest are DC titles – but we still thought it was a shout-out for the comics aficionados in the audience. Thanks, guys!

Interesting Lex and Ollie backstory there. We liked the different lessons that the two men seemed to take away from their experience – Lex, that he needed to be strong and out-manipulate anyone who came at him, and Ollie, that he was responsible for a death and he needed to atone. Guess we can figure out right there who's a hero and who's a villain.

Speaking of villains – can you believe that Lionel kept someone alive for 10 years just so he could experiment on him? That's cold-blooded. However, Lex surpassed him in the end by demanding the data Lionel's been getting from those experiments on his only childhood friend. See what we said about villains up above? He's scary.

Then there were the bullies, Ollie's hangers-on. We weren't too sorry to see them go – especially the first one, who was too dumb to get out of the way when things started falling off the roof in his general directions. That prep school must not have had the most rigorous academic requirements.

Finally, we'd like to call a moratorium on speeding-bus accidents on CW shows for a while. There were back-to-back bus mauling on Smallville and Supernatural – is someone trying to make public transportation look bad? We're taken the bus for years, and we can remember hardly any fatal crashes!

What do you think, Smallville fans? Did the episode live up to your expectations? How do you feel about the Lex/Oliver backstory?

Make Lana, Chloe and Lois leave so TPTB don't have to try to please all the shippers and concentrate on Clark's journey to becoming Superman.

When did Smallville get changed to GreenArrowville? I mean i dont mind the green arrow bandit thing at all, but to make it the show's major focus is carrying it just a bit too far. I want more Clark fighting those evil phantom things. Why is there a need to be two reporters? Couldnt somebody had made Lois..something different? I mean the only thing i can see coming from this is Lois or Chloe stealing the other's article. I can see Chloe ruining Lois's article because something she's about to print may be harmful to Clark, but that's about it. But otherwise she's stealing valuable Chloe time! I like Chloe and i want to see more Chloe/Clark. Lana...just kill her off! I wanted her to die when she got in that car accident last season i think it was. but NO Clark had to get Jar-El to bring back time and save her scrawny unappreciate butt! Lex is pyshco, finally they've brought out what we've known for years into the open! Ollie, you are not as innocent as you seem. Now...be more bad. Lionel, WTF you are still evil? keeping a kid alive for 10 years to experiment on him WTH ARE YOU THINKING? Martha would be apalled and to think i actually believed you were changing. I should have known better.

OhmyGosh, Masked Viewer, wasn't is great? Another wonderful episode of GreenArrowville! With some splendid guest stars, don't you think? That Lex Luthor guys was just awesome. And that Clark Kent? Woah! Talk about a hottie! You know maybe if they give him an extended arc of episodes, and if they publicize him and only him, then he can get his own show?!?! How cool would that be??!? Annndddd! They can even throw in that Chloe character!!! That series of "wows" was just like WOW!!! I mean look at the talent in that small scene she got? I mean, if she had more to work with how darn it, amazing would that be?!?! Doesn't she have great chemistry with Clark Kent? Just imagine if they had a series to play with?!?! Gosh darn it, what if, what if they put those two and Lex Luthor together in a series?!?!? Maaannn, now that's the sort of show that would ROCK! Wow, CW, your guest stars just keep getting better and better! Why bother with the contiinually amazing Supernatural when you guys put such a great effort into your guest stars?!?!

Very good ep. The flashbacks had that kind of eery, creepy, foreboding feel to them. And my heart went out to poor Duncan. And Lex, with the pent up rage. It actually made sense. Young Ollie was a jerk. And i was sorry to see he was still keeping company with his jerkoid friends even in present day. But he really seemed to learn from the experience otherwise and was trying to redeem himself. I loved his line to Lex, ''I've been doing some scrubbing, yours (hands) just keep getting dirtier''. Very powerful.

I loved Clark too. I loved the scene where he caught the arrow in mid air. And just generally, I enjoyed his scenes a lot.

And as much as fundamentally, Lexana still makes no sense to me, I liked Lana in this episode. She was genuine and concerned.

And Lionel. Whoa. Mofo alert.

One of the best parts about the ep, was Lois. And her scenes with Clark were not only so much fun to watch but choc a bloc full of foreshadowing. Lois: ''I dont share bylines'', Clark: ''I was looking for a phone'', Lois: ''You always seem to disappear when the action heats up'', and so on and so forth. Brilliant. And Lois in reporter mode, is a pleasure to watch. Glad she was sensitive wrt the story and glad she reaffirmed to Clark not to beat himself up over Lana.

So ya, i was pleased with this ep. A lot.

Well, fellow Greenarrowville viewers, we got another rousing episode of Oliver Queen's fascinating ascension to superdom, and even more exciting, we actually got to see the genesis of Ollie and Lex's bitter rivalry that will eventually become legend.

No, I.. what? Who the hell's Clark Kent?

Anyway, I was so glad that they suddenly decided to have Erica Durance read for Chloe, because it isn't natural for an established character to be consistent. That's just not real life. People don't just gradually come to life altering decisions, nor build relationships through time and effort! It happens overnight, and everyone who's ever married someone who they once thought of as a brother knows that!

I don't know what you're all complaining about.

By dropping the blatant hints about Lois and that guy, the writers are leading us into the conclusion of Greenarrowville, which will likely wrap at the end of this season, or maybe if we're lucky, even before that. It's the loose threads left hanging at the end of a cancelled series that bring in the big bucks, and satisfy fans who have been watching since season one, when they had that Pete kid on the show.

Speaking of well-fleshed out characters, I am so glad that they progressed so quickly with Lana and Lex. I hate it when that poor girl isn't in a relationship. Thank goodness she found Lex so soon after dumping whats-his-face, or I think she would have actually had to go through some weird phase or something where she had changed after it was over. Whatever that's called.

Anyway, I am so excited with the direction they're going with Greenarrowville, I love that they recast most of the old leading roles, (except Lex, who is as deliciously unsympathic and bland as *ever*) and I can hardly wait for the cliffhanger of a series finale we'll be left with next Spring.

Sorry for my rambling, I am just SOOO happy with the show right now! Don't ever change, Greenarrowville!

Alright. Well. Quite an episode. I really liked it.

The flashbacks were very well done. The young actors were both capable and believable. That was one scary group young Ollie had going. Thing is, the really beautiful thing about this episode in terms of the Lex/Ollie thing was that it was written in such a way that we could see the points of views of both guys, and sympathize with both of them. And the aftermath got ugly. But it was good storytelling, IMHO. Absolutely amazing performances by Rosenbaum and Hartley too.

The other thing I really loved about the episode was Lois. And Erica Durance continues to give it her all as Lois. I loved the dialogue, and I'm generally so impressed with the way she's being written this season. All the forwshadow-y Clark/Lois investigating scenes were brilliant. Very good stuff here.

I also liked Clark and Ollie's dynamic continuing to build.

Good stuff, all around.

How amusing. If all it takes to make a girl Iconic Lois Lane is for her to tell Clark not to be so hard on himself then Chloe wins by a landslide. Heck, she wins anyway but this is even easier. Lois was pathetic and there was too little Clark and Chloe.

Lex beating up his friend came completely out of left field and since it has never even been hinted at was just another lightswitch moment. Not good and totally out of character.

This episode was OK..looking forward to Fallout....

Liked the Lex flashbacks and the animosity between Ollie and Lex.

Let's get one thing clear SV writers..while the overall episode was good, stop trying to cut down Chloe time for Lois time. And stop trying to pull off the insta-journalist!....just add water and presto!...investigative reporter immediately....

Why did you spend all these years developing the investigative skills of one reporter, only to hand it over to Lois because you are trying to make her into an ace reporter by the end of the season?

I have nothing against Lois, Chloe or any other character...and this post is not about bashing EDLois..she is fine..but the writers need to stop this ridiculous rapid progression and let us see her take some time to develop these reporter skills that she is supposed to have.

As for those who are sooooo happy that Clark and Lois don't need Chloe, and can do things by themselves..and are shouting for less and less of Chloe...hey!..you got it in this episode...characters who have been around for years and years, and made new Superman history should just be pushed aside...sure!..why not!(sarcasm!)

I hope they do not push Chloe out to make room for Lois...that is not necessary....andI sincerely hope that they do not continue to put one character down to build up another...

And people were upset about Super!Chloe...well, i hope we dont get Super!Lois in the future...but with her rapid progression you never know....will we have a problem then?????

Also, no....the writers are NOT hinting at a Chloe/Ollie romance..so no..it is not another reason to find to hate Chloe..please..that is just ridiculous. Do people want to hate Chloe so much that they think she will attempt to take her cousin's boyfriend???...that aint happening...that scene only means that she, like many other females, finds him attractive...let's not forget where her heart has been for the last 5+ years.....

Yay, we finally have confirmation that Chloe is just like Lois Lane. See, if Lois filling in Chloe's typical role is making her "more like Lois Lane" - then that means Chloe *already* is just like Lois Lane.

Which is nice to get confirmed. I look forward to seeing more of our typical, orginal, and better Lois in Chloe in the upcoming episodes. I missed her this week - though her working with Clark was just spetacular. I can't wait for those two to team up against the Zoners.

Good to see more Clark and Chloe, Lex and Lana. As someone said earilier - they really are the heart of the show; I've actually missed all of them terribly -- even Lana. It's like in this grand push to make Oliver and Lois popular, the real main characters are forgotten.

So it's great to see that the episode about Lois and Oliver lost quite a bit of ratings, where the one about Lex and that actually had Clark in it rose.

Count me in as one who missed Chloe a lot (trying to presto-chango Lois INTO Chloe didn't work at all as Durance doesn't have the chops to pull it off) and
Lana too (why oh why is she always unconscious?!).

Loved the Lex centric episode. I would say that Green Arrow is a very good addition to Smallville. He is pushing Clark and Lex into future self. And it was hard not to notice that less the Chloe in the episode = writers write Clark's character better. I hope this streak continues with Clark and he doesn't backtrack.
I am very eager to see Raya and the FOS next week.

Temp Lois dropped a valid LuthorCorp story? Why am I not surprized. SO not Lois Lane; I'm with TVGuide, this arc is ridiculous.

But it was great to see some depth given to Lex; now that he's reading up on Lionel's experiments, hopefully we get to see more Evil Lex. Because that's been missing for a while now.

And hopefully we can get back to Clark, Lex, Lana, and Chloe now that Lollieville is due for a break.

The Good
- Chloe and Clark working on the Zoners. That's GREAT.
- Oliver having a good reason not to trust Lex (he's a psychopath)
- Continuity from the Kawatchi Caves, Sommerhalt institute, and the upcoming Level Three projects
- The flash backs!

the Bad
- Lana being knocked out, again.
- Lightswitched Lo; she's moved from not only unlikable but unbelievable. The sooner she gets spun of as the Black Canary the better.
- All About Oliver; where's Clark?

ok..i keep seeing people saying that Lois is the only one who can console Clark with her line about..

"Stop beating yourself up..that's my job"..ok..so that was nice..whoo hooo!...but let us note that in our apparent glee that this Clois thing is in the works, let us not forget that the things that Lois is telling Clark is NOT NEW!

For God's sake, all these lines does not mean that she is automatically his soulmate! How many other people have told Clark in the past to stop beating himself up...How many times has Chloe told Clark to stop blaming himself for the problems of the world! How many times does Martha do it too? So I guess that means Chloe and Martha are Clark's soulmates too?

Whatever consolation Clark receives from Lois is not new...she is only saying the same things that others have said in the past....she is NOT the only one that Clark can talk to, and this does not make her automatically Clark's soulmate now.

It aint new people..it aint new

Great episode. Good plot, good performances. The Lex/Ollie/Duncan bits got a little painful to watch I must admit. But then that only goes to show how much we're invested in Lex as a character.

Lionel seemed one step closer to his ''old self'', IMO. Though, I could be wrong.

Since this was more Lex' story, I suppose it's ok there wasn't as much Clark, but I tremendously enjoyed all his scenes. And Tom Welling just continues to improve episode after episode as an actor. I particularly enjoyed all the Lois and Clark scenes. Quite a team! I love how they bustle around each other with energy. And Lois telling Clark not to beat himself up over Lana, and then in typical Lois fashion, adding, ''that's my job'' was hilarious! And I also loved her, ''I dont share bylines''. Brilliant stuff.

Actually, this was another ep with not enough Clark and hardly any Chloe and really, Lois sid what Chloe does always except not as good. And Lois is so scatterbrained she can't even find a room number on her own. Flakey as the day is long and not the real Lois by a long shot.

And, note that Lois didn't run the story which would have been quite legit if done properly because her bo7yfriend was involved. The minute she found out what the problem was and why he wouldn't tell her what he'd done, she dropped it. Far from being signs of her becomming a better reporter and developing ethics, it was quite the opposite. And, when Clark gave her some very good advice, she called him retarded. Aside from being potitically incorrect, it shows clearly she really has no respect for Clark ata ll and there is not only no attraction between them but no reason why he would ever care for her romantically in the future.

As for the plot? We have always been shown background on Lex to male him seem sympathetic and tyhis was a complete and sudden turnaround. It actually made no sense for him to beat his only friend up like that just so he could fit in because there has been no hint of it up until now. This was the same kind of lightswitch treatment of Lex that we've previously seen for Lois because it negates all the previous background history we've ever had on Lex which was to make us understand how sad and lonely he was because he was different and shunned by his peers.

This kind of treatment odf a character, negates what we've seen of them in the past. Much in the same way Clark was made to seem sympathetic by being himself the outcast with few friends was negated by having him suddenly join the football team a second time and, worse yet, sleep with Lana, negated that status and one of the main things that made him sympathetic to the average person. Likewise, Ollie should never have been portrayed as such a little jerk even as a child; it was inappropriate and made a future hero look needlessly bad. These are things the writers should stop doing because it alters the character for the worse and the writers should stop it!

If it weren't for the fact that Ollie is a known superhero in the future, a lot of perople wouldn't be watching. There's not enough of the guy we tune in for and way too much of Lois. She is a joke and her appearances should be minimized as much as possible.

Loved this episode, especially loved Lois and Clark working together. Their interactions are my favorite part of the show. I hope there is much more of this to come.

let´s talk about REUNION
great episode...SMALLVILLE is getting better!!!

i enjoy the flashbacks... (what´s wrong with you lex!), the scenes with ollie involved,i also like some scenes with lois investigating ("some" cause some lines where stolen from chloe),i truly love clark in this episode!!! he is HOT!!! WOOOWWW HOT!!!...lol

BUT i missed chloe! only two scenes? ...that´s no problem for AM though. she kicked ass!!!

Just read the best description of the Justin "God Gave with Both Hands" Hartley - he's the new Lana Lang. Therefore we will be guaranteed he can do no wrong, should be admired and loved and drooled over by everyone possible, including poor Allison Mack being reduced to a few "wow" moments in this episode.

The New Lana Lang. Now this is an alias for him I can get behind more than Green Arrow. It makes the gag-worthy adoration he's receiving from everyone possible understandable on some level.

It was pretty awesome. I like episodes with Lex's flashback. I just love this guy! it's funny how the teenage bad ass (Ollie) turned out to be a hero and the sweet kid (Lex) turned out to be a bad guy.

I still don,t get why Lana is with Lex. Can't help but think she's gonna betray him or something like that.

I miss Chloe... I don't like the fact that Lois is taking over her. It seems there is no room for two reporter like them.. And it sucks.

I loved to know more about Oliver. He's just too sweet. He's the good Lex! Money, power, but a real big heart! Hope he stays all season long.

Lois was so cool in this episode, love to see her interest in journalism blossoming.

The actor who played the young Lex Luthor deserves applause. Even his expressions were like Micheal and he played the role perfectly. He was completely like how we would imagine a young Lex.

Good work!

i love lois and clak investigating in this episode eventhough other people complains that "super smart perfect chloe" should have been the one with clark..
c'mon clark can accomplish things without her help..
Go future Lane and Kent!

Someone tell me when Lollieville is over. Meantime, Dawn Ostroff plays it coy when the Green Arrow spin-off is mentioned and while some idiot on her marketing/advertising staff is telling her not to promote Supernatural why? So they can screw the original cast members of Smallville, Kripke, JA and JP and the wonderful stories of Supernatural because Justin Hartley and Green Arrow-ville is their next big thing? I have some faint hope for Smallville as JH's eps will end soon, but I am done if Supernatural gets screwed so Justin Hartley can be recast as the new CW-It guy in Green Arrow-ville. I have never been so sick of a character on this network that Green Arrow and Justin Hartley. So much so that I was grateful for the scraps of Chloe and Lana of all people in this episode. Even if she did end up in the hospital again. Thankfully Lex can buy her a wing there with doors clearly enough marked that even Temp Lois can find her way around.

I second that - Lois was trying very hard to be Chloe this episode. She's just not though.

Loved Clark this week. Very much the hero. Loved what little Chloe we got. Same with Lana. And Lex was amaaazing. He's totally loosing it; it's sad and yet thrilling to cheer on for him to go evil.

Oh my god i love watching this show! the badder lex gets the more hotter he seems! I love how hes testing lana i cant stand her nice, sweet, oblivious attitude ! yuck she grosses me out who in the world is so sweet and nice anymore really!? I wish there would be an episode where Lex actually can have realy hair on his head! like mabe he falls into acoma and dreams that he has hair on all the places men have hair!Lex is my ultimate fantasy man!

Reunion was a decent episode, but it would have been better if Clark and Chloe would make their return to the show. For a show about Superman we sure are seeing *a lot* of Green Arrow...too much for me.

Tom is the one who draws the girls in. Leave the focus on him!

And what was up with Lois? She still believes she's a reporter?? Please, no one is going to buy that. Leave the investigating and reporting up to the one who knows what she's doing... The feisty blonde one who's been on her way up the journalism ladder since the show began.

Too much Lois

Not enough Chloe

Chlark dinner scene was too cute too boot.

Nice Chlark anvil after Ollie and Clark talk about second chances.

And Ollie still annoys the hell out of me.

Also, it's quite sad that the TPTB have to rip off a S1 Chlark Investigation scene in order for Lois to appear half the intelligent report that Chloe is.

One final note. I got more entertainment out of the show mentioning Gotham City than I did the entire episode.

I admit I was apprehensive, going into it, because as a Lex fan, (Clark, Lois and Lex being my favourite characters) I wasn't sure how this new backstory would effect Lex's past, present and future. But most of my fears have been allayed, thankfully. I like that while Lex' insecurities as a child were elaborated on, but at the same time, you made sure to focus on the motivations all round. And the Lex of now took responsibility, to some measure too, which was good to see, But in a way, you're simultaneously laying the seeds of the future where a time may come, where he may not necessarily feel that remorse or responsibility he still does now.

This episode made me like Olliver a little less though, and I've really been loving him so far. But he seemed to own up from the mistakes of the past too, so it's OK I guess.

I loved, loved, loved all the Lois/Clark scenes. They made a great team and you could literally see them in the future together. And I'm loving Lois' passion for her work, her dedication and competence always shines through, yet clearly, she is not blind as to knowing what not to pursue. I love it.

I am a big Lex fan, so any Lex-centric episode is always appreciated, and Reunion was no exception. The story of the anti-hero/villain has always fascinated me. I hope we see more of Lex's backstory in the future. The audience can gain perspective on the present and future choices he makes. For me, I don't know want a unidimensional caricature of a villain. I like layers and complexity because really, the real world isn't as Manichaean.

Of course, I have to give a shout-out to Lexana. Though it was minimal, it was the subtlety of the couple's touches and reassurances that spoke out a lot more in this episode. Lexana may be "text" now, but it was all about the "subtext" in Reunion.

Looking forward to Fallout next week.

I enjoyed finding out what happened with Lex and Oliver in the past. I enjoyed the work by the actors that played young Lex, young Oliver and young Duncan. Each of those three characters match up against the Adult Lex, Oliver and Clark(Duncan) quite nicely. Lex's friendship with Duncan might have been the precursor to why he wanted a friendship with Clark. Although his friendship with Clark didn't turn out any better in the end for similar reasons.

I enjoyed the scenes with all the cast members. But again my favourite was the Chloe scenes. Seriously when Clark said Oliver Queen owes him one; wouldn't Chloe have been able to figure out that he was the Green Arrow(Dropped the ball on that one Clarky)? I also enjoyed seeing how Lana and Lex have moved into their new roles.

It is good that Lois and Clark are doing things for themselves now (but still I would rather see Chloe be apart of it). Good to see Lois has limits on what she will publish. But I still missed the old scooby gang interaction. So generally fun episode. I look forward to seeing more of Chloe in future episodes. I still want to see Chloe and Clark working together like they always have.

This episode was pretty good.

The Good

1. Lois Lane - Again we're seeing an Ace Reporter in the making . [I really like how they showed Lois Humanity side [When she decide not to write the story about duncan] [this is more proof that seperate's Lois from Chloe] Chloe don't seem to care about that [prefect example Season 3 "Truth"].

2. Clark Kent - Another good clark episode [I'm serious, The Whole clark being alone this season is the best story arc smallville has come up with so far.] Clark is really shaping up both in his Character and in his way at looking at The World [from his own point of view.] Into SUPERMAN . I'm so happy to finally see this.

3. Lois & Clark investigative reporters- I love the forshadowing [I like How Lois mention she doesn't share Bylines [That right out of STAS] And Clark disappearing act and What Lois says to him. Oh Boy did I loved seeing LANE & KENT The Future Ace reporting Team of The Daily Planet working hard together to slove the mystery. The Forshadowing was Excellent .

4. Gotham City - Just The Fact that it was finally mention brought a big smlie to my face.

5. Lex Luthor - Another good Lex Luthor centered episode

6. Oliver Queen - Each Week JH is getting better and better .

7. Less Chloe

8. Less Lana

9. Clark learning about the others who escaped The Phantom Zone

10. Trailer for Fallout [A Mythology episode]

The Bad

The Hinting of Chloe & Oliver

Chloe in general

I specifically wanted to comment on the Lois/Clark scene that happens after Lex's behavior with Clark in the hospital when he comes to visit Lana:

If you see that scene twice or more, you'd realize how beautifully Lois tries to tell Clark that whatever has happened with Lana and whatever will happen to her in future would not be Clark's fault. She doesn't want Clark to torture himself so she consoles him in a very light but at the same time very forceful manner. It was a wonderful scene.

It showed why Lois Lane is the only woman strong enough to stand with Superman, because only she has the strenght to tell the man of steel that when he should take the blame and when he shouldn't!

No one can talk like that with Clark and no one, in more simpler manner can explain to Clark that he should stop punishing himself. ONLY AND ONLY Lois Lane can do this, this is why she is Clark's soulmate in every way possible.

This scene was terrific and a wonderful foreshadowing of their future relationship and Lois's strong role in it.

I hope all fans noticed this because this was too well written and wonderful of a scene to go unnoticed!

Reunion was excellent. Smallville scored once again with showing the cannon characters in transition!

Any episode with Lex's past being explored is always interesting. First it was 'Memoria', now 'Reunion' after a long time. Lex's mistakes and his inhibitions are shown perfectly with the help of Oliver arc.

OQ has been used very well in the story and acts as a catalyst for both Clark and Lex to become what they will become, and like Chloe says he's HOT!

Gotta love Erica Durance, she is growing more and more into the role of Lois, the writers have given her very good scripts this season and she has performed very well, "That's retarted!" WOW! That's essentially Lois Lane!

Kristin looked very pretty, she didn't had much to do though.

Clark and Lois scenes not only bring a smile but also shows the comfort level they have developed with each other. I am glad the writers chose to show them investigating together instead of the usual Clark and Chloe team, because after all, the developing of working relation between Lois and Clark at this point of the story is more important than any other relationship!

Chloe's scene at Kent farm was interesting. Thank God we got a break from the usual 'Clark walking into DP to talk to Chloe' scenes. This was good and different, and it showed Chloe has a life outside the DP basement!

Clark/Ollie scenes rocked once again! I love the level of trust they are developing for each other, but I am more interested to see now where it leads Clark and what does he think about starting his own superhero thing!

Lex's behaviour to Clark was harsh, but thank God Lois was there to save him from agony, as usual! "Stop beating yourself, that is my job" LOL!

Do I have a feeling that Lois will have to keep an eye on little cousin Chlo there? She clearly had a thing for the new billionare in town who happens to be her cousin's boyfriend!

I give Reunion 5/5. Another wonderful episode to add in the list of S6 favorites. Keep it up!

I liked the Lex backstory, I liked the flashbacks. Loved, loved Ollie meeting Chloe and how wowed she was.

Didn't care for Lois at all, all I kept thinking was were is Chloe? she should have been investigating with Clark. What was the point of Lois' investiagation anyway? We know she's won't go afer Luthorcorp about the unethical experiment, hmmmmmm.

I adored seeing Chloe and the Kents having dinner.

Sometimes I ask myself if 'Lois' can actually get any worse, then I realize it's just not possible. She's doing a spectactular job of being horrifying already.

Three words: Bring. Back. Chloe.

The Lex and Oliver stuff was all right.

However, I did miss Chloe like crazy, because I see what's going on here. This show is not-so-slowly replacing the amazing Ms. Mack with a horrible actress portraying a terrible character, and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Allison Mack has been with the show for six seasons, while Erica Durance has barely cleared, what? 30 episodes? So Allison gets treated like a glorified guest star. It makes me ill to watch this.

I'm not going to be polite about this anymore, mostly because I am sick to death of my obvious frustration being ignored.

Your "Lois Lane" sucks. It's not funny, cute, or even remotely amusing that she's suddenly some kind of journalistic whiz. It's absurd, and all it does is inspire laughter and ridicule. If that's what they're going for, peachy.

If not, where on earth is some dignity and decent storytelling where this is concerned? Why should I care that "Lois" is lying and mooching her way to the supposed top, while the girl who has actually worked to be where she is gets the shaft entirely?

I'm about two seconds from looking into what the buzz is all about concerning Ugly Betty. At least their character doesn't have to use her implants to get where she wants to be.

I enjoyed finding out what happened with Lex and Oliver in the past. Lex's friendship with Duncan might have been the precursor to why he wanted a friendship with Clark. Although his friendship with Clark didn't turn out any better in the end for similar reasons. I enjoyed the scenes with all the cast members. But again my favourite was the Chloe scenes. Seriously when Clark said Oliver Queen ows him one. Wouldn't Chloe have been able to workout that he was the Green Arrow(Dropped the ball on that one Clarky)? I also enjoyed seeing how Lana and Lex have moved into there new roles. It is good that Lois and Clark are doing things for themselves now. Good to see Lois has limits on what she will publish. But I still missed the old scooby gang interaction. So generally fun episode. I look forward to seeing more of Chloe in future episodes.
Edit/Delete Message

Lois was awesome in this episode. I've really enjoyed seeing her getting into journalism this season.

Arrow and Reunion were both classics. Smallville is getting better week by week. I hope the writers keep it up.

- We get to see the reasons behind Lex's becoming what he has become. It was really complex the way Lex felt an outsider and resorted to killing his only friend just to fit in. His psyche and his fears were shown so well. It shows why Lex will never trust anyone and hurt everyone even he loves. Amazing. Season 6 first episode with an amazing Micheal Rosenbaum performance and a good Lex centric story.

- Clark/Oliver scenes were amazing. They are two different kind of heroes with two entirely different approaches and SV writers have shown it very well.

The end scene in the loft with Ollie was great. It showed how Clark regrets his mistakes and by Ollie telling him "Don't make them in future" also takes Clark a step forward.

- Lois is getting more and more closer to the Lois Lane we'll all know as a hard hitting journalist. "I don't share my bylines" Very classic Lois-like statement and Erica looked very beautiful in this episode. I am not thrilled with her hairstyle though, her Season 5 hairstyle was the best.

- Lois not printing the story was a very great thing. A byline is not all she cares about. I am glad she drops the story and the way she gives the reasoning for it, seems like she has slowly began to understand what journalism is all about. Classic!

- Clark is working on Dark Thursday's aftermaths. Something tells me we are going to meet 'journalist Clark' soon. Please, I hope the writers are setting this up as an arc to introduce CK to journalism.

- What's up with Chloe's flirting with Ollie? Chloe the black canary (hint *cough*) Poor Jimmy!

But I liked the earlier Chloe scene at the dinner with the Kents, may be more because Clark was doing the 'journalistic' digging.

- Clark and Lois scenes were very good. "Stop beating yourself up, that's my job" Gotta love Lois! Are we going to see the Lane and Kent team soon because I can't wait now!

- Lois and Lana's patience as women trying to console their boyfriends and giving them space was really good. Lana has matured. She never showed this level of patience with Clark, unfortunately, she is doing it for a person who might not love her unconditionally.

Overall, Reunion was a treat. I enjoyed it throughougly.

I hope in weeks to come when Ollie/Lois are not present :( SAD ALREADY!! we get to see more of Clark growing into his superhero and journalist personna.

I didn't like this episode. Not enough Clark, Chloe, Lana, and Lex. I'm not that interested in Oliver Queen and the lightswitching of Lois turns me off.

Lois and Clark doing the investigative reporting was awesome. Loved Lois's line "That is totally retarded!" to Clark's really serious that to protect the ones you love you you need to keep secrets.

It's been a nice change seeing Clark have a superhero buddy for more than one episode and Lex flash backs are always interesting. Loved the personal/intimate dinner scene with Chloe/Clark/Martha and always love the MB - especially when he and Lex have *special* time together. Loved the last scene when Ollie meets Chloe and not even knowing how many, if any of her articles she read, he's looking forward to reading the article she's writing. Great set up for the arcs Chloe and Clark have coming up. Also, the "wow" scene with Chloe and Clark was really funny and it was obvious of the "fun" it was supposed to reflect based on both their smiles and laughes.

Loved Lex backstory, the Chlark scenes (hook them up already!) and the Lexana.

HATE Lois. She's so annoying and her scenes are like nails on a chalkboard to me. I wish I could skip them but I don't have tivo.

Please, stop crossing out "Chloe" in the script and writing in "Lois". Since when did Lois know how to do research?

Just last week she was having problems with the yellow pages.

Great job on choosing the young actors. They were good.

Where have Clark and Chloe gone? We haven't seen much of them in the past couple of episodes and I miss them. I want more evil Lana too! Last week was great for that. :)

Too much Oliver! Not enough Clark. I swear, this show needs to stick with it's four main characters: Clark.Lex.Chloe.Lana. Please! That's who the fans really want to see.

Where was Chloe in this episode?? Get Lois out of her posistion and let her go back to selling muffins at the Talon.

Blah, make Lois go away or I will go away. I'm not buying it. I'm not buying her character, I'm not buying her progression. Oh man why am I watching this show. Just compare it to Heroes and Smallville lacks so much.

Loved the Lex and Ollie flashbacks!

I did miss Chloe though :/

I really enjoyed "Reunion", you can't go wrong with a Lex centric episode.

But, what's up Shelby? Did the dog hired to play her, get banned from the Smallville set or something?

Enjoyed "Reunion" and the great use of flashbacks!
Good to see that the rivalry goes way back :)
BIG points for the continuity with the Warrior Angel comic!
Nice to see Chloe eating dinner with the Kents and meeting Oliver.
Set up the plot with the escaped Kryptonians well and am excited to see how it all plays out!

"Think I'm lying? Compare the "locked door" scene Clois had with the Chlark one from "Craving." They're exactly the same, down to Clark's excuse and everything."
******************************************************

That's the same thing I thought!! It was exaclty like that!! Another poster said it tugged at her heart strings because it reminded her of episodes gone...and yes!..it was the Craving episode!

So Lois is automatically pre-secret Chloe?!...with all her skills and we have no idea where she got these skills from???...couldn't the writers at least change the scenario and the excuse or something!

Even Lois going through the patient chart and coming up with her explanantion was very much like Wither, Craving and other episodes past...

Yip, writers crossed "Chloe" off the paper and put "Lois" instead....

how about a little variety in the script SV writers?...what a concept

You need to stop trying to replace lois with chloe's stuff.. She wont ever replace her and it just makes lois look worse.. They cant figure out what to do with her so they give her Chloe's parts.. That to sad..

You neeed to stop this lightswitch thing just take her off the show and let us think they get together later or have her go to a different universe and be with a different superman thats as lame as her character is right now.

That backstory was tragic. :( I kinda felt for all parties involved there. What's really interesting to see though, is where it has gotten Lex and Olliver, respectively, and how they are dealing with it in the present.

Lois was outstanding again in this episode. Her and Clark investigating together, choc-a-bloc full of foreshadowing was awesome to witness.

Clark and Ollie's dynamic is continuing to develop and remain interesting too.

All in all, another good episode. :)

It's all so boring. Nothing good is happening at all. What happened to Chlark vs. Lexana? That was set up all last year?

Also, last night had a shameful lack of Allison Mack.

I really enjoyed Reunion! You can't really go wrong with a Lex backstory episode.

Loved delving into Lex and Oliver's origins and finding out part of why Oliver does the things he does.

I enjoyed the Chloe and Clark scouring for Zoners. I really enjoyed Lois hunting down Oliver's "grim reaper" and the Lane and Kent investigations that result.

I really like the Lex/Lionel intereactions, especially a certain smile that ups the stakes on the mystery that is Lionel. It was all delightful.

Not phenomenal like Arrow, but very good. :)

Again, more Chimmy please!
More super fighting!

I think it's hilarious that Cloisers are so happy about their interaction and Lois's "development." She was Chloe this episode, that's it. They took the scenes that would have been written for Chloe and let Lois do them instead.

Think I'm lying? Compare the "locked door" scene Clois had with the Chlark one from "Craving." They're exactly the same, down to Clark's excuse and everything.

Lois is the pre-secret Chloe. They're even using skills Chloe has (getting phone records) that Lois does not have.

Lois is only seeming more "Lois Lane-y" because she's being Chloe 2.0. That really doesn't bother Lois fans at all?

Missed Clark and Chloe. Heck, I even missed Lana.

Don't get me wrong. Lollieville is an entertaining enough story. But Lightswitch Lo and Green Arrow aren't whom I care about. I care about Clark and Lex - and Lex was the only thing that redeemed this episodes.

The flashbacks were a bit violent - but I think it worked and showed the side of Lex that we needed to see.

Ya'll really just crossed out 'Chloe' on the script and wrote in 'Lois' instead, didn't ya?

5 down, 8 to go ... almost halfway over.

Lollieville again? Bored now. Lois keeps getting farther and farther away from her iconic self though - and that makes me very happy.

Loved what we did see of Chloe, Clark, Lana, and Lex this week.

It was a great episode. The episode showed us what skeleton was there in the rich guys closet. Clark and Oliver interactions were good.
I am liking this Clark so far. Clark was so in character this episode. He was worried about the village in India and he is trying to look for the other PZ escapees. He is concerned for Lana's well being if he was not it would have been OOC.
Finally it was good to see an investigation by the future Lane and Kent team

It was a good episode. It was good to see Lois and Clark investigating together. It was a complete surprise for this episode.
But the flashback scenes were violent for my taste.

Great episode! Loved the Clark/Lois scenes and especially loved Clark's great smile at the end when Chloe was drooling over Ollie. Really loved all of the foreshodowing in the episode. One of the best episoded this year. Can't wait until next week.

Ollie bores me. Clark=hot, Ollie not so much.

I missed Chloe

I loved this episode! The flashbacks of Lex and Ollie were well done. Some gruesome stuff in spots of this episode but it was enjoyable. I liked that there was barely any Chloe. I mean we had an Overhaul of Chloe in season 5, so it's time to focus on the Iconic characters now and get them to where they are meant to be. I'm lovin Lois more and more each episode, as well as Clark. And loved the fact that they were working together somewhat and not as bickery. Yay future team Lane and Kent. Lana got knocked out, LOL. Sorry is that not supposed to be funny? But it's kind of rude for Lex to not let Clark see her, but in a way not totally wrong, I mean shes not with Clark anymore, and it doesn't look like they have established any sort of friendship (yet), so... I don't know. Overall great episode!

I think this is the best episode that "Smallville" has ever done. Other than that, the performances were by the cast and guest stars that's all.

My favorite moments:

1) Lex/Lana and Lois/Oliver at the Excelsior Academy reunion seeing one of Oliver's friends gets killed in front of them. What a way to start an episode!

2)Clark/Chloe/Martha in the Kent home. It was nice of Martha to make dinner for Chloe also instead coffee and blueberry muffins. The only thing missing this season is Shelby. Bring him back!

3) Clark/Lois at the hospitals-- one from Smallville and Metropolis. Great interaction between these two.

4) The flashbacks of Lex, Oliver and Duncan. I just can't believe that a bus can kill someone. It never happened like that in real life! I even saw it happening on "Supernatural" and "Final Destination."

Is it just me that's excited about batman's city gotham being mention? Or that scene outside the hospital where Louis and Ollie and his friend and talking about getting together and the friend say's"I got to get back to GOTHAM now"........

I jumped out of my chair and ran though my house and out the front door in the freezing cold when i heard that. This means There might be a a possiblity of batman showing up in smalleville.

Well.. I did liked the flashbacks, I think it was a little bit to much, but I liked how they where done, I didn't liked how Lex and Oliver where but is a good story.

I Loved Clark, he's awesome and I can't wait to see more of him, after all this series it has to be about Clark Kent and his journey until he's Superman.

I missed Chloe, I truly did!! Even if I loved the 2 scenes with her, Martha and Chloe have always looked great together and it was great when her and Clark brainstormed for ideas about the Zoners.. I loved this ;) and the scene where Oliver meets her.. cool!!! :D

Lana was okay in this episode, I'm getting to realise that Lana can be a better character, when she's not a pink princess, to bad it took 5 seasons for the writers to see this and Lex and Lionel.. awesome as always :), they light the screen!!

Lois.. oh don't get me started on her, this lightswitch has lasted long enough, as a friend said.. she's not more my Lois Lane.. than I!!!

Oliver was really good, I liked the interaction between Clark and him, 2 heroes learning the ropes :D, awesome!!!

I hope to see more of Chloe next week.. and if EdLois is not there... I'll be thankful. Be well and take care.

And oh yes, Chloe needs to be reduced so drastically so as to have her be non-existant in the episode so Temp Lois can suddenly realize what it is to be an investigative reporter. Watching CK and Temp Lois continues to be painful in the extreme as they continue to have no chemistry. No matter, they should be hooking up next episode as per her usual lightswitches. Same old, same old for Temp Lois. Earn nothing and get everything anyway.

One of the best episodes of this season so far. Great to know more about the childhood of Lex and Ollie. I always enjoy to know more about Lex's past and now i'm interesting in Ollie's too.

Clark and Lois investigating was a great surprised. Lois is every day becoming the iconic Lois Lane she'll be, the great top ace reporter from the Daily Planet and the only Lois Lane in the show. m:)

Loved that she drop the story because wouldn't be tasteful and the away Lois and Clark were investigating together reminds me so much "Lois & Clark" with Teri Hatcher and Dean Cain.

Clark was awesome in this episode too. Especially his interactions with Lois and Ollie. I like this Clark so far. More mature, more aware of his role as a hero in this world.

And I hope the season keep that away. m:)))

I think this was another excellent episode of Green Arrow-ville, elevated by a casting coup with guest actor Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor. Surely if Green Arrow-ville succeeds with such wonderful casting choices for future storylines it can only get better. And look, there was even a guest spot by a guy called Tom Welling and an actress called Allison Mack. Hopefully the PTBs of Green Arrow-ville will capatalize on their talent and give them a great storyline sometime in the future eps of Green Arrow-ville.

*rolls eyes*

Why doesn't the CW just make the announcement for the Green Arrow Spin-off and give us Smallville back? I'm sure there's a part of Justin Hartley's backside they haven't kissed yet.

oops..i guess there was more...

the actors who played the young boys in Excelsior did an excellent job!

One of my favorite quotes from one of them to Lex: "Psycho much?"

As for the falling sword that stabs the idiot, blood splattering on Lex, an unexpected Duncan-car collision..I have this to say to Smallville...

"Gruesome much?"..but still, very cool!

Reunion KICKED ASS!!! for many reasons that I will list now. Sorry folks, this might be long....

1) Loved the Martha/Chloe/Clark kitchen scene....absolutely beautiful...all we needed to complete it was SHELBY. It's not often that we get to see them interact like a family, and it was a welcome difference from the Daily Planet set...their concern for Chloe's dietary needs were sweet. Good to see Martha as the mom again too.

2)Lois getting more into journalism. I think I have it figured out now.....the writers are always putting Lois in the right place at the right time to get a story. The flying barn door was the first, her relationship with Ollie and subsequent run-in with Green Arrow at the party, and now going to a reunion with Ollie and being there when the drama starts. It seems that they use her relationship with Ollie to propel her into journalism, and they put her in the right place at the right time. If she didn't date Ollie, she wouldn't have been at that reunion, and if she didn't diss Ollie last week, she may not have been at the party with him to see the GA in action. So the question I pose here, to no one in particular, but just a question to consider....how much of being successful in journalism is luck at being in the right place and how much is talent?
It's true that to get a story, the time and place are important too.

3) Lois and Clark investigating....ok, I admit this was bittersweet for me. It was good because obviously, that is what it will be like in the future at the DP....so story progression from the SV writers was well done. The bittersweet thing for me is that the hospital room scene reminded me of episodes long gone when Chloe and Clark used to do just that..before she knew his powers....Clark used to open the doors "magically" and speed away by the time Chloe turned around. It tugged at my heart strings because after 5 years of seeing them investigate together, I am seeing that the writers are trying to make the transition to the new team. I know it is inevitable, and I know that Chloe will still be helping him out with the "Zoners"...but still..it tugged at my heart....bittersweet, but well done.

4)The growing friendship between Clark and Ollie...good that he has another male friend to talk to...fill the gap that Pete left.

5)Lionel: shame shame shame on you for keeping someone alive all these years for your experiments. LOVED IT! Is the guy evil or not???..keep us guessing...

6) Chloe's reaction to Ollie at the episode end:....well done...a very Chloe-like reaction. So it seems that Ollie's dashing features are enough to make the very talkative Ms. Sullivan, who is so good with words, only get "Wow" out of her mouth...now THAT is an accomplishment....I laughed at that...she was thinking.."Wow, my cousin has REALLY good taste!"

7)Clark and Ollie's conversation..and the mention about making the right choices in the future...and, on cue, walks in Chloe!...The writers did a good job here too, and I will tell you why. I can already see the tons and tons of posts from fans about what that scene implied. The writers really know how to keep the argument going...

so, for various fans, it could mean a few things...
-is Chloe going to be the choice in the near future?
-do the writers allude to Lois as the right choice in the future?
-does it mean that whatever mistakes he made with Lana, do not make it again with WHOEVER the next will be....OR
-does it have absolutely nothing to do with relationships, and it was only related to his choices as a Superhero?...who knows...but it makes for great conversation.

8)The differing roles of Lois and Chloe...I am beginning to see different roles for them. I think writers will put more of Lois/Clark investigating for random stories like the one last night, and Chloe/Clark for things related to Level 33.1 and Clark's alien buddies...again..good story progression, but bittersweet. I don't want one's role to be reduced for another..for ANY of them.

9)Didn't like: Clark going to the hospital. Clark, honey, sweetheart, sexiest man in my world, WHY IN THE NAME OF ZOD did you go there????? Did you not figure Lex would be there, and have another perfect opportunity to insult you, and rub his relationship in your face? I am getting sick of their fight over Lana, and sick of all the insults Lex gets to throw at Clark. Can we have the superhero kick the villian's ass please! And progress their animosity beyond the ex-girlfriend.

Finally, episode quotes....naming the Zoners was cool..another name could be the Phantoms. Also, Lois's response to Clark's lame ass excuse about keeping secrets was cool..yes, it's time he realizes that it is retarded. On the Kryptonsite chat, someone pointed out that her reaction here was very different from the advice she gave Chloe when Chloe found out Clark's secret. There, Lois said that if the person wasn't hurting anyone, then she wouldn't tell them, but wait for them to be comfortable enough to talk about it. So, the reaction is different, but very Lois-like nonetheless.

And this is the last, I promise. Clark Kent is my SexyBack. Flannel, t-shirts, or bright red boxers, he is the hottest man in my world. But I will claim defeat, and admit that Ollie is H.O.T.T!!!! He grows on me every episode! and damn, he is fine!

I just loved Lois in that episode. And her scenes with Clark were a glimpse of the future Lane&Kent team.
Als episodes this season were good, but so far Reunion was the best.

-- Lois is awesome in this ep. Total canon Lois. Loved the "your billionaire dragged you to this, too?" line to Lana.

-- Lois's lines were great... I think she was softer & more laid back than she usually is. Her scenes with Ollie's friends were really natural and I loved that Ollie's friend from Gotham said that she was a catch. (Um... right before he died.) She looked really pretty, too.

-- Clark/Ollie... I loved their scenes. I was LOL when Oliver cracked a joke and Clark responded, "I'm laughing inside" and Oliver responds, "maybe one day I'll get lucky and it'll bubble to the surface" or something like that. It totally makes me realize that Lois/Ollie are way too alike to have a long term relationship.

-- Clark/Lois... It was great to see them investigating together again. It was very canon the way they approached the central mystery & the way Clark worked around Lois to get save the day (yet still hiding his abilities from her). It was incredibly sweet of Lois to point out that Lana made the "questionable decision" to be with Lex and he should stop beating himself up.

Another thing I loved was that Lois/Clark pieced together everything without Super!Chloe. See, the two [i]can[/i] survive without her. And Lois was incredibly smart... how cool was that she made the connection based on an article she'd read?? Clark's expression was funny, but I can't believe he questioned it after everything he's seen in Smallville.

All in all: After "Arrow", it was another fantastic episode. Hope "Smallville" keeps it up!!
