The CW Star of the Week: Erica Durance

Erica Durance
Name: Erica Durance

Who is she? She's Lois Lane on Smallville, Thursdays at 8/7c.

Why we heart her: We love all the ladies of Smallville (we really do!), but we like Lois because she's a little rough around the edges. She may not be the same Lois you know from the comics or anywhere else, but we like how this one's independent and outspoken.

Style file factoid: Erica originally auditioned with darker hair, but the producers wanted a different look for their Lois. For more interesting tidbits about ED, check out this video interview!

For die-hard fans: The Butterfly Effect 2 is out on DVD today!

Do you believe spoilers that say that Clark will develop feelings for Lois this season? Or are you hoping our hero finally gets his act together, quits the chicks for a while and starts saving the world full-time?

ED is a good actress, but a far cry from what Lois Lane should be! She's far too old, her take on lois is far too "dumb blond" and I have never read a comic where lois and karate chop villans! not to mention she dosen't look the part at all.
WB made a mistake in casting her as clark's love interest.

And what is with the obsession with Lana???? she was just a footnote in the comics! just because she's hot she stayed on for 7 seasons! blech!

I'm sure alot of us are waiting to see Clark/Lois finally get together,("Why put Lois here if shes not going to be with Clark") hopefully there will be some real sparks between them soon.

Erica rocks at playing Lois lane. and there is no way clark has to end up with that lana lang. Lana i cant stand. she is a total fony. and she thinks shes better than everybody else. i dont no why clark would be an idiot and fall for that fakeness. lana takes advantage of clark and plays with his feelings. i think that clark would be ok with chloe cuz they r such good friends and they tell each other everything. and chloe doesnt take advatage him and he doesnt
take advantage of him. but all the way lois and clark have been characters in superman over ten years. and chloe and lana didnt come till like four years ago for smallville. so lois and clark will live on. no matter wat. cuz in the real superman clark and lois get married. i dont mind if he gets with chloe thats ok. but if he gets with lana lang then hes the biggest loser on the planet. let lana be with lex who cares. let them be evil together forever. nobody cares about them

Ever since Smallville came out i was like, "what the hell is this teen soap? why the heck are they ruining the original Superman movies?" However, my friend was in love with Smallville, and she wanted me to watch the episode where Lois first enters. So i watched it...and loved lois! I hate Lana like heck! I mean how lame is this line, "Lets scream together, Clark."??? Super lame! She, Lana, is also disgusting and she does NOT know what she wants. Then there was Chloe. When i saw the first episode of season 4, i wanted to know more about Chloe beacuse she seemed intresting. So i saw the first 4 episodes (god knows how i was able to live thru them)I was just amazed by how dumb the writers were to have her in it. There is no room for Chloe. Everyone, meaning EVERYONE, knows that Lois and Clark get married, that Lois and Clarks girl for EVER! I mean come on people! We knew it before this teen soap came out! The comics, even the very first ones, have Clark with Lois. Lana was never there untill they(the comic people) started writing about Clarks adventures when he was a little boy. So they needed a girl thats why they invented: Lana. Chloe, who never was even part of any superman movie or story, is a double Lois. Thats one bad thing that they do in Smallville about Lois. Its Lois who is into the whole journalism thing. Erica, you do SPLENDID in Smallville as Lois. I thought you did so well that my sister and i think you are better then the other Loises, even though we still love Margot. Just want to remind yall: Lois is Clarks, and Clarks is Loises. No one can or will be able to come between them.
Ps. If darn Smallville does have Chloe or Lana ending up with Clark, then Clark is dumb and Lois should be with the oh-so-sexy Justin Hartley/Oliver Queen.

I think the generalizing that "some" Clois fans are doing about Allison or Chlark fans is ridiculous. Not all Chlark fans hate Erica. Many of these generalizations are completely out of line.

It is interesting that the argument Chloe fans present against Lois is that she is not interested in journalism

Oh please. Problems with EDLois extend beyond her pathetic efforts in journalism. Not to mention, now that her comedic relief of a beginning has pushed her head first into journalism, she promptly and happily got her way to a frontpage story by agreeing to sell out her "calling". Some investigative journalist that.

The only thing Chloe has in common with Lois Lane is that she is a journalist. No other traits, habits or anything else that Chloe has is anything to do with Lois.

That's right. Because Lois Lane is so far off the path of the character we've grown to love, it's ridiculous. But have no fear, I'm sure lightswtich number 2 is on it's way. Who knows, the show might give her a Pulitzer Prize for the Safetec article and gosh darn it, would that just be the final proof everyone needs for this amazing character??!? Wow. What amazing character growth we have to look forward to!

Chloe was only created so that Clark could be kept in touch with his future profession, there is nothing 'iconic' abou Chloe at all.

Thank you for admitting that Chloe is Clark's link to journalism - which is far more than EDLois has ever shown to exhibit. This is her cousin, who lives and breathes journalism and the worth of a true front page story that is well-researched and correctly spelled apparently never sunk in all the years she's spent with Chloe.

It makes me laugh when anyone says that Chloe is anything like Lois Lane. Sorry, she is just this show's creation and will probably end before Smallville does, but Lois is a 70 year old character. It will live on, whether you like it or not!!!!

This show's creation is set to be included in the comics as well and I for one cannot wait. And it makes me break out in hysterics when people even consider comparing the muffing-peddling dropout who can't be bothered to make an attempt to stay in school and of all the strange things that happens to her, a barn-door is the thing that makes her find her calling to Chloe.

It is interesting that the argument Chloe fans present against Lois is that she is not interested in journalism, but when they are asked, hey, Clark is also not interested in journalism, would you say he is not the real Clark? They never come up with anything.

The only thing Chloe has in common with Lois Lane is that she is a journalist. No other traits, habits or anything else that Chloe has is anything to do with Lois. Chloe was only created so that Clark could be kept in touch with his future profession, there is nothing 'iconic' abou Chloe at all.

Enhorabuena Erica, me encanta tu forma de ser, eres unas gran actriz y estás haciendo un papel genial en Smallville, sin ti la serie no sería lo mismo. Te deseo lo mejor y gracias por ser así. Cristina (Spain)

I don't think Chloe fans are only hard on Erica I think they hate every body...etc (Melissa)

Mwahaaaaa!!! Clearly, Chlark fans are the ones who can't differentiate between ED and the character of Lois Lane or for that matter KK and Lana. Okay, if it makes the creative juices with the insults flow easier, so be it. Here's some help - I don't think anyone has used "Delusional" in reference to Chlark fans today. "Ignorant" got a go around yesterday if I'm not mistaken.

And you are bashing Justin Hartley too...

Actually, plenty of Chlark fans are waiting to see these Clark and GA next week, and plenty are not. I don't like how he is publicized as if no one else on the show matters anymore.

(TeriLois)It is not surprising to read such terrible remarks about Erica by the fans who cannot stand seeing Lois Lane on the show...etc

Nor is it surprising to see another insult aimed at fans who have a problem with the character of Lois Lane and not ED. But, like I said, the insults flow easier when all Chlark fans are characterised this way.

What is a fan of Superman who has an aversion to Lois? You are not fans of Superman you don't know a thing about Superman...

Well gosh, who knew ED fans were the ones that had the in on what "true fans" of Superman should think and be like. Funny how plenty of long time fans around on the boards have serious problems with this version of Lois. They must all be delusional (there, I even used the word for you), right?

Erica Durance is doing a great job of displaying the 'REAL' Lois so that everyone can diffrenciate between the iconic character and some reporter wannabe who is not there in the comics at all!

Well, we do agree that ED is a talented actress. But that was a barn door flying past her and not Chloe. Mwahaaa!!!! Oh man, that's a new one. Chloe, after 5 seasons, editor of the school newspaper, intern at the DP and all her investigating is the wannabe. Mwhahahahaha!

It is not surprising to read such terrible remarks about Erica by the fans who cannot stand seeing Lois Lane on the show only because now it is impossible for them to live in their 'dream' where some other character on the show would change her name and become Lois!

What is a fan of Superman who has an aversion to Lois? You are not fans of Superman you don't know a thing about Superman or else one of you would have come up and said that stop shoving the super hero Chloe down our throats week after week and make Clark the central character of the show!

Erica Durance is doing a great job of displaying the 'REAL' Lois so that everyone can diffrenciate between the iconic character and some reporter wannabe who is not there in the comics at all!

Erica Durance is doing a great job on Smallville we love you as Lois Lane

I don't think Chloe fans are only hard on Erica I think they hate every body First they couldn't stop making remarks about Kristin and now Erica. What is wrong with you guys? Do you take Chlark so seriously that you cannot like anyone else on the show.

And you are bashing Justin Hartley too just because he is playing Lois's boyfriend on the show.

People are too hard on Erica. (especially Clana flans)

I believe she does extraordinarily well cracking jokes, being witty, and bothering Clark. I think that's how the relationship between them should stay for a while. She's the best at that and deserves more credit.

Congratulations Erica Durance!

You are the only saving grace in 'Whither' The writers are ruining Clark by making him almost look like Chloe's sidekick and look, even his friendship with Jimmy Olsen cannot blossom because of Chloe

Please Smallville writers! stop making Clark look like a loser Erica is so great and a wonderful actress. It is time you bring them together and make Clark's role powerful in Smallville

What can I say about Erica?... simply amazing, I could say cos I have no words in my mind to describe this wonderful and strong woman!!!
You are making a fantastic job in smallville, honestly you are my reason why I watch smallville week by week!!... I also want you to say (After knowing what happened to you in howard stern show...)....

I can’t believe it yet how someone has been able to handle you this way Erica.
I can’t stand someone hurts you, I can’t stand that any tear fall from your beautiful eyes.

Let me say you one thing..

I sat by my window, every night, looking at the sky, searching the prettiest star.
Time went by and finally I found one of them which was the little one but it brighted more than other post in the dark night.

Since that day I tried to find the prettiest name for my star. And after thinking it well, I found the name.
Blessing the star with the name: Erica Durance

And the magick started to sprout, cos since I blessed the star, she begun to bright with more intensity.

Nights went by and I didn't get bore to look at her. Until one day I decided to work a spell and become it a girl who would go on brighting with that powerful light.

And it happened of this way, the star became the most wonderful girl my eyes could conceive, belonging to her the light, being the prettiest star, in the earth... in the sky”

With all these words, the only one thing I want you to say… you are not how he made you to see in that interview.

It’s not just your look what makes my heart beats hard, it’s not just your outward beauty what goes cross my soul.
The reason of my sighs, of my heart beats, of the most wonderful thoughts, of my questions and my whole life it’s you.

people don’t see through your soul, they just get to see the cover, just see what they think you are, what they believe you mean to be.

However you are more than a pretty face in mags’ covers, you are more than a simple word they can write. Because just seeing through your soul, through your eyes… they could see the most wonderful things there’re on you.

And although your personality gets split on two.. “the cover girl” and “the girl who walks naked at her home”, how they use to say, I see an only one person in you: Erica Durance… only you!

Love you Erica! Yours: erin
(misslane)

Hye Erica you are now become our reason to watch Smallville crazily you are the most gorgeous and powerful character of SV and no one can take your place in Clois relationship and this is the most great Clois chemistry ever you and Tom totally Roxxxx.

Congratulations!!!!

Wow. ED fans are as regular as clockwork with the indignation that some fans could dare *gasp* *shudder* *oh!no* have a different opinion and choose to express it and still fail to separate our disillusionment with Lois Lane from the actress. Well, I guess the new motto with some ED fans must be if nothing is left to argue about the characters, lets just start in on the fans. *yawn* More tomorrow I should imagine.

Too bad Allison Mack fans wouldn't stop passing on tasteless remarks about Erica Durance no matter where they are.

I read some of the remarks trying hard to justify that Erica is not Smallville's iconic version of Lois Lane, because why? She stands in the way of Chloe and Clark relationship, which, interestingly, never existed outside the minds of these mindless fans.

And someone has even written Lois has stolen the life of her cousin her dream of becoming a journalist and the guy she loved. If you read a comic then you know that Lois's life is becoming a journalist and loving Clark Kent and besides, who says this? The fan of a character who desperately want her to steal her cousin identity and become Lois Lane. BAH!!

Allison fans will keep saying worst thing about Erica till the series ends but no matter what they do, they cannot turn their "poor excuse for Lois" into the real Lois The real Lois is here, open your eyes and see, and she is Erica Durance.

Has anyone noticed how beautiful Erica Durance is? She looked like a princess in that costume in Whither

Erica Durance and Tom Welling are the most beautiful and gifted actors on Smallville They should be a couple because they deserve to be. Tom is the most gorgeous Clark Kent ever and Erica is the most gorgeous Lois. They have the greatest chemistry and yes, Clark should have romantic feelings for Lois on this show.

Congratulations Erica for becoming the Star of the Week you deserve it!!

Looking forward to seeing more of Erica on Smallville bring her on all episodes please not just half episodes every season

Erica is the best on Smallville

Erica Durance is the most talented and beautiful actress on the show. She lights up Smallville with her presence. The producers made a wonderful choice by casting Erica Durance as Lois Lane.

However, I would like to put here, my humble opinion as a fan that ‘Lois Lane’ is not just character from the Superman comics. Lois Lane is the heroine of the story and Clark Kent’s equal in all respects. She is his wife and the love of his life. Definitely, we are not seeing her as Clark’s girlfriend or wife on Smallville because it is too early. But that doesn’t mean that Lois Lane should be sidelined as a supporting role.

Once you have Lois Lane on the show, all other characters around Clark are of secondary importance. And when you have someone as talented and capable as Erica Durance to play her, then you should utilize her full potential. What I am trying to say here is, Erica should slowly be brought in as the central character, and not by starting an 'out of the blue' romance between her and Clark, but by making her own character very strong in all respects.

Despite of being a die-hard fan of Clark and Lois romance in the comics, I would never senselessly say “Bring Clois or I would stop watching” because it is too important a relationship to be rushed and ruined. It is not a one or two episode thing. It is something eternal.

Don’t show us a full fledged romance but just that feeling of being around your soul mate. Just like Clark’s beautiful line to Lois in Oracle: There are times when I think you don’t know me at all, then others, when I think you know me better than anyone” That was beautifully written. Every fan whether or not a Clois fan will admit it was wonderful.

The producers are taking the right direction by developing Clark’s feelings slowly and gradually, and keeping Lois totally unaware of it. It is just like the comics. Al & Miles, you are on the right track, please keep going.

We are not just watching Smallville for “Clois” and don’t give a damn about everything else, no, we watch Smallville for Superman, the greatest superhero of all times, and when it comes to falling in love with his soulmate, make it the most beautiful and subtle love ever. We have faith in you!

Congratulations Erica Durance. You are the best, and definitely the most talked about on Smallville.

PS: If Allison fans think she is ‘left out’ from the publicity, put it positively, and put it on a board that is dedicated to talking about AM/Chloe, not here. Bad mouthing Erica is not doing you or AM/Chloe any favor.

Green "God Gave with Both Hands" Arrow and Lois "Born Again" Lane.

Huh. Someone wake me when their eps are over and this network remembers that there are other regular cast members people would like to hear about.

Great great job on the show Erica! and on the movie! I hated the first one so I wasn't sure about watching the second one but since you were starring it I took a shot..
Amazing job! you blended perfectly in all the character's situations.

Congrats again! I hope we see more of you on the show.. you certainly make it worth to watch ;)

Beautiful, funny, sweet, honest, down to earth...yes.. FINALLY people see what a great actress and person this girl is.

Congratulations Erica.

CONGRATULATIONS ERICA!!!!

About time everybody saww your great work!!!

And the movie.. it rocked!

Yayyy!!! I'm glad Erica is getting the recognition she deserves!! And don't even bother readin the andry and bitter comments, I seriously don't know how those people are able to enjoy the show with all that insane anger pent up ;)

Great job girl! I hope we get to see more of your work in more movies and in more episodes!! YOU HEAR ME TPTB?! We want to see more Erica episodes! lol

Congrats again!

Congrats Erica! I saw the movie and it's great! I love Smallville and your character is the best one of the show. You are making a great job on your role as Lois. I don't know how you do it but the banter between Clark and Lois is amazing! very funny!

I hope to see some clois this season, and I seriously hope TPTB give you more than 13 episodes!!!

Great job Erica!

Go Girl!! congratulations Erica! You totally rock ;)
I love the portrayal of Lois you are doing and let me tell you... it is one of the reasons why I watch Smallville.

You are a truly beautiful and talented actress, keep up the good work!

Can I be some voice of reason here (and not be misconstrued as self righteous. 'cuz that is sooo not my intention) and just urge everyone to calm down and not take this so personally? It's quite ridiculous, imho, getting so worked up over a fictional character, no matter how 'iconic' it is. You dont like the characrer, like the character, all good, but I'm sure there are more politer ways to share all those opinions.

*steps off soap box* ;-)

I like Erica. Aside from her absolutely beautiful looks, she's quite talented as an actress too. I've been wanting to watch BE 2 for a while now, glad to know it's been released. As for Lois, she's not one of my favourite characters, but that's more to do with the fact that I think all the female characters on the show are written poorly. But I don't dislike her, she's actually interesting and I'm willing to give her another go this year if there's substance in her arc, like a journalism thing or romance with Clark.

(ShalimarFox80)
And if you are selling this show to comic books fans, I am sorry to say, they don’t know any Chloe Sullivan.

Is this another round of “only comic book fans are the true fans of Superman” ? Could you be more insulting to the fans that have stuck with this show for five seasons, but who may not have an interest in the comics just yet? Here’s a wild and whacky thought – how many non-comic book fans, but fans of Chloe and Smallville will pick a comic for the first time when she is introduced there?

The comic fans associate one and only one name with Clark Kent – Lois Lane. The iconic female reporter that has been played perfectly by the beautiful and talented Erica Durance.

Iconic female reporter? That doesn’t have an education, no interest in obtaining her college degree, is proud of the fact that she sold her integrity to gain a front page byline on a rag and is happy to take handouts from Luthors and Kents – who weren’t really that well off. Now of course, that’s she found her calling, why don’t we slap on the title of “iconic” and that will make everything okay, right? That’s not iconic, that’s a joke and her entire calling in Sneeze was exactly that. If that is all you need for this character to be “Lois Lane” then so be it. Why do you have to attack fans that are expressing a different opinion?

It is sad to note that AM is such a good actress but her fans comprise of a group of bitter and delusional people who are unable to praise any other actors on the show, merely because their ‘ship’ didn’t happen.

And right on cue, the bashing starts. When there is nothing left to defend about a character or about everything Chloe fans are pointing out they are unhappy with about Lois Lane and not ED, out come these unfounded accusations of being delusional etc. Play a new song please. Or rather if you have a problem with a Chloe fan who has said something bad about ED, slap a name on your reply. Otherwise the broad self-righteous indignation gets real old, real quickly.

You guys don’t care about the mythos, you guys don’t even care about Superman, if you did, you knew that Lois Lane is and always will be the heroine of this story. If you cared and knew anything about Clark Kent you wouldn’t insult him by saying that he is “jealous” of JIMMY OLSEN!!!!

Bwahaaa! Oh my, the Defender of Truth, Justice and the Superman Way! Defender of the Mythos, Protector of Lois “Born Again” Lane. Try and stay with me here – Jimmy isn’t a kid, Jimmy is Clark’s age and competition for Clark. If you don’t like it feel free to shout it to everyone on this blog, but please stop accusing Chloe fans with some seriously shitty accusations. It just makes you look bad.

If by this useless and bitter bashing and bad mouthing you think you did Erica Durance any damage, you are fooling yourself. The only damage you did is to AM and her Chloe, because for most of us fans, you killed Chloe.

And here we go again. Generalisations are a last defense when you have no answer to the points being made. You don’t like what someone said about ED, then step up and pick a name, don’t hide behind these broad “General Messages” etc. Plenty of Chloisers think ED is a great comic actress – we just don’t think the character she plays is a good enough Lois. And BTW, these sort of broad generalizations attacking fans for answering to the blog questions? Reflect badly on you as a fan of ED.

If you cared and knew anything about Clark Kent you wouldn’t insult him by saying that he is “jealous” of JIMMY OLSEN!!!!

We're not talking about Superman, we're talking about Smallville!!!! And sorry, but it's true. Clark had just kissed Chloe, and wanted to talk about it. His face was clearly jealous when Jimmy comes over. There is a poster calling it a triangle, so maybe you should take up the "insult" with them.

You are looking at the wrong picture I'm afraid, and seeing the Lois that you want to see. It sounds like you are basing all of your opinions on Clark, Lois, Jimmy on your general view of Superman, instead of actually watching the show called Smallville.

Jimmy is the same age as Clark on Smallville and there's no reason he can't be a romantic rival. It's not like Clark isn't supposed to be a dork as well

The only damage you did is to AM and her Chloe, because for most of us fans, you killed Chloe.

It's too bad you let other peoples opinions affect how you watch the show. It's always best to like or dislike characters based on your own opinions

It is sad to note that AM is such a good actress but her fans comprise of a group of bitter and delusional people who are unable to praise any other actors on the show, merely because their ‘ship’ didn’t happen.

So it wasn't an Erica Durance fan who said she was glad Erica was the only star being promoted, and Kristin is a piglet? Erica Durance fans don't say that Lois is the only reason they started watching the show? Wow thats news to me, I thought I saw those comments on this very thread. But of course ED fans are all perfect, and AM fans are all evil. I forgot

And I don't have a problem with people saying Lois is the only reason they watch the show, but clearly you do have some problem with AM fans and Chlark shippers not thinking the same way that you do? I see that over and over again, people being told to shut up with their opinions, yet somehow we are the ones who are threatened?

And Chlark is more likely to happen (again on Smallville) than Clois is, so no we're not bitter. If you are expecting Clois to happen this season then I think you need to prepare yourself. They are hinting at Clois future but they are not going to do it in the town of Smallville, and they have told us that over and over.

Good on Erica Durance for being star of the week. I kinda enjoy her portrayal of Lois. It's different, but I like it. And the woman is hot! Butterfly Effect 2 sounds good too.

I think it's great to see Erica get recognition! Lois is one of my favorite characters, in all incarnations, so it's not much of a surprise that she's my favorite here.

It's kind of disheartening to see that people are so quick to jump on her character. Her Lois is a Lois-in-progress. A Lois finding herself and her place in life. A Lois with room to grow. Unfortunately, I think the show's handled it all wrong. They could have done it so much better, in my opinion. But Erica handles it well and works with what she's given - and she does it beautifully!

Keep up the great work, Erica!

A Message to the angry AM fans:

We should thank CW that our show Smallville is now within reach of a larger audience. And if you are selling this show to comic books fans, I am sorry to say, they don’t know any Chloe Sullivan. The comic fans associate one and only one name with Clark Kent – Lois Lane. The iconic female reporter that has been played perfectly by the beautiful and talented Erica Durance.

For Erica Durance:

Congratulations on becoming the star of the week. Teri Hatcher used to be my favorite Lois Lane but now it is Erica all the way. She is beautiful, talented and has the capability to carry this iconic role. She is in the league of actresses like Margot Kidder, Teri Hatcher and Kate Bosworth, and she deserves it.

For most of us Smallville fans, Erica is our beloved Lois Lane, she are the iconic Lois Lane. Every TV show, magazine, website and publication has praised her and recognized her as Lois Lane, because she is.

Erica will get our support and love because she is worthy of it. The paranoid people who have written such bitter and pathetic things are not fans of Smallville at all so we shouldn’t even care what they said.

I like Erica, she seems like a cool person. I'm happy she's star of the week. She puts a lot of effort into a role which does seem often underdeveloped. I give Erica mad props for breathing life into her character. This year, after season 4, finally looks like it might be another good one for Lois. Progression of some feelings with Clark, and journey to journalism. Perfect.

GO ERICA DURANCE! YOU ROCK GIRL! *whistles*

So lovin' your work on Smallville and can't wait to see your new movies...

Your portrayal of Lois made me the fan of Smallville I am today and as long as you're around i'll be an avid watcher. YOU'RE THE BEST!

Love you, Lara

Hi Erica i want you to always remain the star of the week you and Clark deserve each other i am anxious and dying to see your romance with Tom only you two and i know and all Clois lovers knows there is no place for a third person in Clois's beautiful relationship as Clark says"You know me better than anyone"you really are a Harley Lois and no other woman can take or win your place in Clark's and your fanz hearts you are the best.

I'm sorry but I don't think that Erica makes a very good Lois Lane, like the one I grew up loving. I don't believe that Clark will find a sudden interest in her because I don't see why he would be interested in her. Aside from the fact that they have been antagonistic towards each other, it's a stretch for me that he would look at EDLois and see a pillar of humanity like every other CK in history. It's more logical and believeable for Clark to fall for someone like Chloe. Especially after the events of vessel and their strong friendship and shared secret.

I do hope Erica has sucessful career.

You lost me at "The CW Star of the Week: Erica Durance."

BORED NOW.

Which is the same thing I am during every one of Lois Lame's scenes. Either that or I get extremely annoyed.

Can we get some coverage on the *REAL* stars of the show? Ya know the ones that have been around for the full run like Tom Welling, Allison Mack, Michael Rosenbaum, Kristin Kreuk? They sound familiar? Or are people too mesmerized by spikey blonde hair, a tan, charm (Justin Hartley) and boobs (Erica Durance)?

I'm sorry but wasn't Erica Durance the Star of the Week last week… and the week before. And has she been the 'Star of the Week' since CW has been promoting their television line up. Let me guess, next week will be Justin Hartley, may be then Tom Welling… (you know, the small guy on totem pole) not to mention no Allison Mack at all at CW LA Splash. After that you will look around and say, ‘lets do Eric Durance’ since it has been a ONE WHOLE week since we have marketed her’.A little balance in promotion wouldn’t be so bad especially when it's merit.

Well said, MikeG. I couldn't agree more. Maybe someday soon, they'll remember MR, KK, JG and A'OT as well. Worst of all - how long do you think before the show's new Golden-Haired Boy aka Green Arrow scores a cover on the Smallville mag? Nothing against the actor, but the insane publicity around him instead of any of the regulars is ridiculous and is completely turning me off him.

Not to mention, has anyone seen any photos of AM at the CW party thing? I finally found some gorgeous ones of KK, but none of AM. Don't tell me she wasn't invited or something? *rolls eyes* Wouldn't put it past this network.

Thank you.

The idea that this version of Lois Lane is someone Clark would find attractive is laughable. As a whole, this character is laughable - a woman who lies her way to a front page article (her calling) and is proud of it. Is this what the show thinks of feminine icons that people have looked up to for decades? The thing that cracks me up is that they got Chloe so right and the icon so wrong. And they expect us to buy this ridiculous notion of who Lois Lane is?

The way they are trying to stuff this girl's celebrity down our throats has to stop! I don't have much against her as she's just a girl who auditioned for a part and got it, but the producers of this show must really beleive we are brainless fools to actually accept the writing and the version of this character... then they drop 10 ton bricks on our heads about her and Clark getting together when the actors have little to no chemistry whatsoever on screen and have made it a brother-sister relationship at best...

It's like I get a migrane headache when I hear people try to make up excuses with zero proof trying to validate the path of this Lois Lane...I know you guys are happy to have a Lois character but it's sad that you'd give your right arm to have one this bad...Again not ED's fault because she was merely casted but everyone else fault for trying to shove this insanity down our throats and have us loose all brain-power to accept this flawed character and her equally flawed storyline...This Lois Lane does not exist in anyway to me...

As Comic Book Guy would say: "Worst. Lois. Ever."

she's so deserving of this recognition...congrats Erica.....only started watching smallville because of her.chloe is fine as clark's friend, but SV has placed too much importance on her character.can't believe she has to "educate" him about his powers.clark isn't much of a man now,as he doesn't seem to have a handle on things....he always runs to chloe.really hoping lois will help get him going to his true "super" self.she is the only young female on the show i see as having healthy and normal relationship with him.just my opinion.

Hi Erica,
Many many many congratulationz to you i am a very big fan of yours i love the Clois chemistry and no one better than u deserves the star of the week position if it is in my power i will make you the star of the week always and forever you are very pretty and a superb actor.

Goodluck

Congrats to Erica for being the Star of the Week. I think she's a nice person.
Do you believe spoilers that say that Clark will develop feelings for Lois this season? Or are you hoping our hero finally gets his act together, quits the chicks for a while and starts saving the world full-time?
Personally, I don't find this Lois Lane to be this Clark Kent's soulmate. I think that belongs to the girl who works at the Daily Planet. ;)

;) I hope Erica does well in her film career.

A Clark/Lois relationship just doesn't belong on Smallville. If that couple got together, it has to be a "forever" thing, and those two are nowhere near the iconic characters from the comics. They need to grow on their own.

Let's see Lois struggle with journalism, and live up to the high standards her cousin has set instead.

Congrats Erica!!
She deserves all the praise she gets. She's such an awesome addition to the cast of Smallville, Lois freshened the show up. She isn't damsel in distress and has amazing snarky dynamic with Clark (I just love how he acts around her, and how much more he's smiling when he's around her). Plus she's stubborn, and determined, speaks her mind and knows how to get what she wants. And the girl is funny too. The best possibly mix. :) I love that we have the chance to watch Lois growing up into a reporter we know she'll be one day. Erica plays her perfectly. I can't wait to see what will happen in season 6.

Congrats to ED on 'The Butterfly Effect 2'. I'm going to make sure to go out and get it. And always look forward to more Lois scenes on the show, especially this season. Her journalism storyline, interactions with Ollie and Clark. Everything. Should be good!

Aw, I love this Lois, and Erica Durance even moreso. I've read all her interviews, just watched the one you guys put up here as well, and just love her. She's so gorgeous and talented, and I can't get enough. Best of luck, ED, with all your work! :)

This version of Lois Lane doesn't have the corner on being independant and outspoken. The difference is the other versions all had more than that that made them wonderful additions to the line of Lois Lanes in this fandom. This one currently has no education, no college degree and worst of all sees nothing wrong in making up a story to sell an article. Actually to be fair, she tried to get Chloe to publish it at the DP, but when that failed had to do something in order to sell the article ie allow a rag like the Inquisitor to put their own spin on something she believes is her calling. I'm a long time fan of the Superman fandom and can't bear the thought that this character is their addition to the Lois Lanes that went before.

As for Clark? He's got better things to do than mope after someone who's integrity he really doesn't think much of.

I like Erica, but she's a *horrible* Lois Lane. Howard Stern hit it right on the head the other day. Tom and Erica don't have any chemistry of the romantic kind and it would be best if she just left the show.

That being said, the character as written is a lot more like Cat Grant or Lucy Lane of the comics, roles at which I think Erica would accel at.

And I hope her new movie does well. Both the DVD and the one she's leaving Smallville to shoot with ex-Smallville guest star Sara Carter.

Wishing Erica all the best in her career! Great job as Lois, and looking forward to seeing her in other ventures too. :->

So in my opinion, Lois would in no way be transgressing over anyone's claim.

It's not about Chloe having a claim on Clark, but it will make Lois look mean if she starts fooling around with Clark when she knows Chloe is in love with him. And she does know, she comforts Chloe in Spirit. And she sees Chloe almost crying in Facade, and tells Clark not to hurt her cousin in Devoted

Allison Mack has said it's going to really hurt Chloe if her cousin ever does start dating Clark. So it's not about who has claimed who, it's about basic human decency, and treating your cousin well. If Clois start dating it will be totally insensitive and horrible to Chloe. People thought Lana was mean in season 2, and she wasn't even related to Chloe

And it's Lois fans who always say she is so loyal to her family, and they love the cousins scenes. You can't have it both ways. Clois happening on the show will go against what has been developed so far. They are just not attracted to one another, and it's so not time yet. That's why it shouldn't happen until the future

W00T for Erica as star of the week! :) I'm all geared for some Clark/lois interaction this year, hopefully leading both of them to realize they feel more than platonically for each other.

Chloe and Clark have never been in a relationship, Chloe is not entitled to Clark, nor should she hold a lifetime hold over him, as maybe an ex girlfriend might. So in my opinion, Lois would in no way be transgressing over anyone's claim.

Well then to more specifically answer the questions asked above then no I don't believe the erroneous spoilers that Clark gets involved with Lois, a girl he barely tolerates so far because she's Chloe's cousin because we've heard that the producers are not allowed to do that AND because Clark has shown real interest in Chloe from late last season until now and never Lois at all. Yes I do hope Clark embraces his heritage and we get lots of action but as for romance, it can't be Lois and all indications are that it will be Chloe as it should be based on what we've actually seen on screen. And really, how would it make Lois look if Lois hurt Chloe by trying to hook up with Clark? Surely you can't want Lois to do that.

I think Erica is a good actress, absolutely gorgeous looking to boot, and I adore her as Lois Lane. I'm really interested in her journalism angle this year, and her relationship with Olliver, and what it may mean for romantic Lois/Clark. And add me as someone who's going to check out 'The BE 2' for sure!

Love Erica Durance, love her Lois Lane. Am definitely going to check out Butterfly Effect 2 also.

Congratulations to Erica for becoming CW Star of the Week. I have enjoyed her as an addition to the Smallville cast and wish her best of luck in all her endeavors.

No, I don't believe that Clark is attracted to Lois. The promos and interviews may suggest that, but where is that on the show?

TV Guide saw sparks flying in Sneeze between them. Huh? It's like the whole romance will play on word of mouth from past Clois relationships. But as far as I'm conerned if it's not on the show itself then it doesn't count.

We all know that Clois is the future. But that doesn't mean it's allowed to happen in Smallville season 6. They only brought Lois in by promising not to have Clois romance, so it's actually dishonest to start promoting it now, and it's probably only to attact Superman Return fans.

I want them to promote the stories that actually are going to happen, and I am not a fan of Clois because it's just not the time for them

I love Erica Durance, and she plays my favourite female character on Smallville, Lois Lane. I caught her in the Lifetime movie, ''Stranded'', where I thought she did a good job too. ''BE 2'' sounds good, I'll pick it up when I get the chance.

Looking forward to Erica's Lois in season 6, and Clark and Lois interaction. :)

Congrats to Erica for being the star of the week.
I like her as Lois Lane. I have not yet watched BE2 so can't comment on that. I don't mind Clark having feelings for Lois as long as it doesn't affect Clark's development.

I'm baffled by all the posts suggesting that honest responses to this post (which asks, "Do you believe spoilers that say that Clark will develop feelings for Lois this season?") somehow constitute Durance-bashing. No one's dissing Ms. Durance. She's a lovely lady and a talented actress.

But does it make any sense for her character and Clark to get together this season, based on what we've seen so far in the show? Nope. The last three episodes have had heavy Chlarkage (a kiss, a hug, and a date), and it's perfectly natural for fans to expect that to develop into something.

Furthermore, it's far too early for Clark and Lois to be an item-- they shouldn't be together for years and years yet, according to canon. So while I wish Erica Durance all the best, and am pleased to see her starring in a movie, I sincerely hope her character doesn't get together with Clark.

I wish Erica the very best of luck in all her professional endeavours. I too, hope we get more than 13 episodes for Lois this season. Here's hoping!

BTW, how is answering questions that blog has thrown out there bashing ED? Bashing accusations are the easiest line of defense when people don't like what they're seeing. And all we're doing is responding to the Lois questions.

CONGRATULATIONS ERICA!!!

Amazing job on Smallvile, rock on!!

The movie... I was speechless and you did a great job.
You are a terrific actress never let anyone mae you believe otherwise ;)

Congrats again and keep it up!!

Erica is one of the main reasons why I watch the show. Her portrayal of Lois is just perfect: sweet, funny, compassionate, and way she plays the banter with Clark... incredible.

Great job Erica! Keep it up!

Hugo

She may not be the same Lois you know from the comics or anywhere else, but we like how this one's independent and outspoken.

That's funny. Here I thought being independant and outspoken was a given in all the Lois Lanes that came before this one. They each exhibited these characteristics to varying degrees. I must certainly not have been watching the same movies or tv shows than the people here at the CW. Assigning these characteristics to this Lois Lane only shows how much people have to stretch to make this character palatable to fans. Lightswitch number 2 coming up, I take it?

In regards to Clark's feelings for Lois? Nothing doing this season as all sorts of sources have pointed out - including ED and Al. So the question is irrelevant and actually harmful to what little good this character has - I've never seen Lois as the type to essentially stab someone as close as Chloe is to her in the back. And until the question of Clark and Chloe is resolved, that's all she'll be doing. Not to mention - Clark spend last week's ep cleaning up Metropolis after Dark Thursday - super stuff, huh?

Congratulations Erica!! I hope we start to see you more around the film and TV industry.

Great job on the show! you should be on more than 13 episodes!

Erica is doing an amazing portrayal of Lois on the show... keep it up girl!!!!

And congrats on your new movie!

Lovely to see Erica as star of the week. I love her portrayal of Lois Lane on the show, she has such verve, sass, and a great tough as nails approach. But she also has a softer, vulnerable sort of side that comes out every so often. I love her scenes with Clark, Martha and Chloe. She has good chemistry with the cast, and I can't wait to see Erica in her arc and scenes this season too. Thankyou CW, for recognizing her as the beautiful and talented actress she is, IMHO.

Great job Erica! keep it up!! You are beautiful, talented and funny.

You are doing an incredible job! :)

Yayyyy for Erica!!! I'm so glad she is the star of the week! About time she started receiving recognition for her job!!

And congratulations on the new movie! it's great!

Congrats to Erica!! I'm so glad she is getting recognition for her hard work. Personally I think she is doing an amazing job in Smallville and I've just seen the movie and can say pretty much the same. I hope she keeps getting more and biggers parts :)
For the bashers... wow there are some really bitter people out there...

Keep it up Erica!! great job!

CONGRATS to Erica on this! No one is saying that Erica is lightswitched or anything like that...she is great, I am sure. Glad that she has a movie out too...I will watch it...

I think the obvious problem is the writing of her character (which she has no control over). Smallville writers did a bad thing with her character, and then want to shove the "destined romance" and "destined reporter" thing down our throats because they are on a timeline....

they also conscioulsy or unconsciously send us bad messages when they show that the only way for a woman to get the affections of good-looking, successful men, whether it be Aquaman, Oliver or allegedly Clark, is to strip dance on a pole, and show alot of skin and sweat.....again, not Ms Durance's fault, but poor poor character development..

all of the smallville ladies are talented in their own way and all can be recognized in some form or another....just as long as they ALL are...that's only fair...

everyone is free to express their views...and this is mine..

And the CW star of the week is Erica not Lois ... so no need to break out into Lois-bashing.

Please tell me if I'm reading this wrong, but I thought the CW was discussing Lois, and asking for feedback on Clois?

I wouldn't be posting if it was just an Erica column. It brings Lois Lane into it, and it's part if the Smallville section, so I'm as allowed to comment as anyone. Or are we only allowed to post if we share the exact same opinion as you?

I find it in much poorer taste to keep attacking other fans for their opinions. How is Erica being bashed? No one has said anything about her acting, the comments are on the writing of the character. Do you think that Erica writes the scripts (and she doesn't by the way)? Because I am honestly confused at why disliking Smallville's Lois is always automatically associated with dislking Erica.

Two totally different things

Rock on, Durance. Rock on!

Erica Durance is hot. She's not a bad acrtress either. I might just check out Butterfly Effect 2. I like her Lois too, though a bit more character development would not be unwelcome.

It's nice to see Erica as the star of the week.

I liker her take on Lois, she's done her best to make Lois quirky and fun, despite the limited character development that has been given to Lois. I especially love the close cousin relationship on the show. Despite the way it happened, I'm looking forward to Lois turning to journalism and starting to fulfill her destiny as a great reporter.

And for the rest of you who have nothing good to say then go to another forum. No one is asking you to come and insult a person or the character. It's in poor taste.

I hope Erica gets more then 13 episodes. The introduction of Lois Lane was the reason I started watching Smallville in the first place.

Congrats to Erica! She's awesome and if it wasn't for her and her portrayal of Lois Lane I wouldn't be watching SV.

According to accounts from people that have met her and people who've worked with her she's awesome.

And the CW star of the week is Erica not Lois ... so no need to break out into Lois-bashing.

You wouldn't want it to happen to your favourite actor/actress.

I am a fan of Superman lore and very familiar with Lois Lane and what kind of person she should be. While it isn't necessary to read the comics, it's fun and helps to put things in perspective; and from that perspective, forged from many, many years of following Superman, I see nothing whatsoever to like about this character who is Lois Lane in name only.

Nor have we ever seen the least hint of any attraction between either Clark or Lois. They treat each other like annoying siblings. Clark once suggested he'd like to smother Lois and even accidentally seeing her naked left him obviously cold.

Considering the actual plot of the episodes we've seen recently, particularly in Vessel and in Sneeze, in which we're plainly shown that Clark wants to pursue Chloe, it would be outrageous to have Clark suddenly, without a bit of build-up or any reasoning whatsoever, start chasing this pathetic "Lois" instead.

While it's great that Ms. Durance is getting all this attention, despite the fact that she is a relative newcomer, appears in little over half the episodes and even then doesn't do much, the producers of this show and the network behind it should give more credit to those actors and actresses who've worked hard throughout this show's entire run and who keep us tuning in every week because of it. The new network should keep this in mind

I cannot believe that the angry Chloe and Lana fans will raid this place too? You guys wont leave any stone unturned in bashing Erica Durance won't you? Don’t like her? Then don’t post here. Don’t you dare turn this place into your pathetic Chloe support threads..

This goes out to Erica Durance:

You are the most talented, most beautiful, and most natural actress to ever play Lois Lane. Do not be disheartened by the disillusioned remarks of the disappointed Chloe and Lana fans. You have more fans out there than you can even imagine.

We are eagerly looking forward to seeing more of you. Smallville producers did the best thing by bringing you around. You are and you will become the iconic Lois Lane by the end of this series.

You deserve our love and praise for playing this wonderful character. You are loved on the show and we hope you feature in all episodes in the future.

This goes to the producers of the show:

Congratulations for sticking firmly to your original plan for Season 6 and bringing out Clark’s feelings for Lois. We can’t wait to see it happen. We love Erica Durance, she has more fans than Allison or Kristin combined. Keep her on the show! She is one of the good things on Smallville.

We cannot wait for the Clark and Lois romance to happen which is the destiny no matter how much the delusional Chloe fans try to deny it.

It's unfortunate that even on a Erica Durance (i.e actor) related blog, people still needlessly bash and push their own favourite actors or characters as the topic forefront. Sometimes, it's better not to say anything at all, if you can't muster up something nice. The lack of response would imply your hatred or indifference anyways. But I guess not. It's so sad that Smallville has become such a hateful and bitter fandom.

I for one, love Erica Durance. Very happy she's star of the week. She's not only stunning, but i think also is improving day by as an actor. She has some of the best comedic timing, but can emote too when it counts. :)

LOL Erica as star of the week? There are people in Smallville that is better than her and should be in her place.

"She may not be the same Lois you know from the comics or anywhere else."
So, now you're all admitting??? Lois is such an annoying character. LOL

Mary from Brazil

I love Erica Durance! So glad she's star of the week.

Her Lois is one of the reasons I watch Smallville. I'm definitely looking forward to 'The BE 2'. I'm sure Erica's done a wonderful job.

She may not be the same Lois you know from the comics or anywhere else, but we like how this one's independent and outspoken.

As a longtime fan of Supes and Lois, I totally agree that SV's Lois isn't the same Lois I've always known and loved--and that's the problem. This version of "Lois" is about as far from being "independent" as you can get. For the past two seasons, all she's done is take handouts and drift passively through life, taking no important part in any plots. And now she's been lightswitched, in ONE episode, into a passionate reporter? Sorry, I don't buy it. She's nothing at all like iconic Lois, and that's a huge disappointment to me.

IMO the last thing this show needs is another lightswitch into a Clois relationship. If that happens, I'm tuning in to UB for the rest of the season. :/

Congrats to Erica Durance for being Star of the Week. She thoroughly deserves it, IMHO. She's beautiful, energetic and comes across as extreemely down to earth and fun in all her interviews. I love her version of Lois, and Lois is one of my favourite characters on the show. Continue the good work, Erica, hope to keep seeing you do a great job as Lois Lane on Smallville, and good luck in all your endeavours outside the show.

I have to agree with what many people have already said: I just can't warm up to this Lois at all, not matter how hard I try. And it just seems to get worse with each passing episode. "Sneeze" should have been an important episode for Lois, but instead she just came off as naive and silly.

"Erica also reveals that Chloe dies this season on Smallville."
Did this happen during the interview? I can't find anything to back it up. My heart sank when I read that.

No, that was from her first appearance in 2004 when they faked Chloe's death.

Disregard my previous statement about comments made about Howard Stern. The comments made where from a previous interview.

After the insane lightswitch of Lois "I hate journalism" Lane suddenly finding journalism as her calling, after five years of build-up toward a Chlark romance followed by spoilers talking about how Clark will be in love with both Lana AND Lois AND Raya (but not Chloe), I'd believe anything.
This show has murdered everything I loved about it- I'm now presented with a player Superman, a love-sick Lex Luthor, and a high-school drop-out "Lois" who relies on nepotism and charity to eek by, and who doesn't care about journalistic integrity. This is also a Lois who, despite being so devoted to her family, will be willing to happily accept everything her cousin has ever dreamed of- a job at the Planet and the love of Clark Kent.
I'm appalled and disgusted, CW, and I'm reaching for the remote.

Congrats to Ms. Durance on her new movie!

Ms. Durance is a good actress, but my problems with "Lois" are the way the character's been *written.* I don't see her as "outspoken"-- I see her as rude. I don't see her as "independent"-- she mooched off the broke Kents for a year, she refused to take the time to actually earn a high school diploma, and she's had every job handed to her. "Lois" even asked Chloe to sell an article for her in "Sneeze." She hops from job to job with no real sense of ambition or drive. And alas, "Sneeze" showed us she has no sense of integrity, either.

And why would Clark fall for "Lois" when he's obviously (and finally!) beginning to fall for Chloe? If they suddenly alter the plotline they've been developing, and make him fall for "Lois" instead, I won't be watching the show any more. We already know he loves and admires Chloe, after all, and she's exactly the kind of woman Superman falls in love with across the various media-- a tough, strong, dedicated reporter. Romantic Chlark makes perfect sense. Romantic Clois would come out of nowhere and make no sense whatsoever in the context of the show.

I adore Erica. I think she's the perfect Lois Lane. I hope that Clark will soon realize how great she is and start falling in love with her.

I just checked out the official Howard Stern site. At the bottom of the DAILY PLANET EXCLUSIVE: LOIS LANE section is says:
"Erica also reveals that Chloe dies this season on Smallville."
Did this happen during the interview? I can't find anything to back it up. My heart sank when I read that.

As someone who also started to see the show because I heard Lois Lane was going to be a part of the story, with an actress whom I liked on Stargate and Andromeda, I was all fired up for her appearance.

I am ashamed that the writers have fobbed off EDLois on to the audience however. She is NOT my ILL. Her characterization as written and presented is shamefully destroying the icon if she is indeed really ILL. ILL is a role model, EDLois is FAR FROM IT. They have however, upon viewing prior seasons, created the perfect ILL in Chloe.

THAT is why I Chlois, and actually why MANY (almost half) Chloisers STARTED. The Chlois Theory use to be 10-15% of the online fandom pre season 4, now it is close to 40% and still GROWING.

I'm sorry but I don't see Erica bashing, all I see is people expressing their dissapointment in LOIS. Yeah that's right Lois, a fictional character.

But I can understand why some people don't like her, especially if they aren't big fans of regular Superman lore.
Actually I am a fan of Superman lore and that is one of the many reasons why this Lois Lane to me, is the worst depiction ever.

If Clark starts developing feelings for Lois than it's just bad writing and I will be saying goodbye Smallville, hello Heroes and UB.

For those who think Lois knows Clark better than anyone....how???

How can Lois know Clark better than anyone, when she doesn't even know the secret that most of his lifes angst is build around?

Well, I must give congrats to Erica for being the star of the week..good for her...

but the character (NOTE..no bashing of the PERSON-Erica) being independent and outspoken?? ...ok...so is Chloe..it must run in the family...moving on...

Like you Claire, I like all the ladies in Smallville for different reasons...and Erica as the person is fine, but.....

as far as Clark developing feelings for this Lois....absolutely not!.I really hope those spoilers are a lie for a number of reasons:

1) Even though she is the future wife, she has a way to go still before having the characteristics that a superman would appreciate (and all the fans know)....and before anyone objects..i know, i know, Clark is not there either...hence one reason why that should not happen anywhere near this show...

2)Smallville writers....can you PLEASE not portray Clark as a male wh*re!!! Just last year he was whining over Lana, in Zod it appears that he wanted to pound Jimmy into the ground for moving in on Chloe, and was disappointed when she called him a "friend"....and all of a sudden he is developing feelings for Lois?????...please...no...
How are you planning to make the transition from what happened in Zod to this???..come on..Superman is not a prostitute...

For those who think Lois knows Clark better than anyone....how??? we barely see them have a regular conversation!!..knowing someone better than anyone else involves knowing their ins and outs...knowing little things about the other person...maybe like someone who knew you since they were 13 maybe??...

Let's make Clark concentrate on saving the world...he needs time off from relationships

I love the character of Lois Lane, and I like Erica Durance.

But I can understand why some people don't like her, especially if they aren't big fans of regular Superman lore.

On Smallville, the character of Chloe was created early on as a blonde version of Lois Lane, with the undying love role-reversal, where she was secretly in love with Clark.

It really doesn't make any sense to have Clark hop from being constantly, moping and fawning in love with Lana Lang to suddenly being forever committed to Lois, at least not without a little transition in the middle, like Chloe. Not to mention that if Clark doesn't tell Lana the truth to where both of them can decide they aren't meant to be together, Lois Lane as a love interest just becomes sloppy seconds.

It also doesn't help the audience warm to her character when they pull what they did in Sneeze, having her sudden interest in journalism come out of nowhere full on. That was badly done.

Having said all that I will re-emphesize that I personally love Lois' character, and I look forward to each episode she's in, as long as she's written correctly. And I really appriciate Erica's portrayal of Lois as well.

I feel bad for Clark to develop feelings for this Lois Lane...

I just can't think of ANYTHING about her that would catch her eye.

She's the best of humanity?
She protects him?
She's sweet to him?
She's the best journalist he knows?
She stands for truth and justice?
She's compassionate about other people?

Oh wait...no, that's Chloe :)

SO TRUE! Exactly what I've know all along! About Chloe that is. Although I really do love Erica's Lois. And I do like her progression. Maybe it could have been handled slightly better. Okay, maybe it was a little bit of a lightswitch, but she isn't starting out at the top paper, and it gives the show a perfect opportunity to watch her grow. To get from point A to point B as it were.

And in case I have not said it before, I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THE COUSINS!

Well, I used to be a Lois fan, but that quickly faded back in season 4. Her character went from a "breath of fresh" air to "nerve gas" in a matter of episodes, which was really disappointing, btw, because I was looking forward to Lois Lane coming to Smallville (even though a lot of people didn't want that to happen). But now I just wish we could turn back time, because she was definitely a mistake.

Do you believe spoilers that say that Clark will develop feelings for Lois this season?

Based on logic and what their relationship has been like for the past years? NO! Based on the fact that they made Lois find her calling for journalism in one ridiculous episode? Maybe, I guess with these writers anything is possible.

Independant? Outspoken? Jeez, the CW is it's very own Phantom Zone where Lois Lane can be a ditzy subpar character that gets everything handed to her epsiode after episode and fans are expected to be okay with this? The moment Clark falls for this sad, sad version, he becomes just as bad.

I love Erica as Lois Lane.
She is a fresh breath to Smallville. I like how the writers have let Lois and Martha interact and gave Lois the mother figure she needed in her life.Another aspect why I love Lois is she doesn't babysit Clark. She shows him tough love but when the situation demands she has a heart to heart with Clark.

People of this board really sicks me. You have nothing better to do than bashes a wonderful actress and person? GET A LIFE !!!!!

Erica totally deserves the honour to portray Lois Lane, the ONLY LOIS LANE in Smallville.

And Clark will fall for her because Lois knows Clark better than anyone, she makes him laugh, she is sweet, funny and the only one who can understand him. And because they are meant to be.

No bashes, go find something else to do besides bash a wonderful person that is Erica Durance. Get over ! Chloe WILL NEVER be Lois ! Are you on crack or something?

Is this the response to the abysmal Stern show appearance?

Well I don't believe the spoilers because Clark's love interest is going to be Raya, the kryptonian. I also don't see why Clark would develop romantic feelings for this Lois, according to "Sneeze" he doesn't think very highly of her.

I've seen some of the absolute rudest most disrespectful comments by everyone hiding behind their keyboards about Erica the person

I haven't seen any comments on Erica, just discussion of the writing of Lois. With some good points about how the CW describing Lois as independent is in fact misleading

The CW has a description of the character that she plays, and people are allowed to respond to that. The comments are screened so if they're not relevant, the CW doesn't even need to post them

Lois should have been written out after Devoted, and has had no place on the show for a long time now.

naaaaaa jealous people...

And how the heck can you be jealous of a fictional character?

Ha...I meant to put "catch HIS eye"...

Thinking too hard about why Clark would like Erica's Lois will do that to you :)

Do you believe spoilers that say that Clark will develop feelings for Lois this season?

I'd rather watch paint dry. To answer the question, no I don't see that happening especially because it's gross to lust after your pseudo-sister.

I love this. I'm glad you featured Erica Durance here and I'm very glad about her portray in Smallville.

About Clois, although I think Clark should focus about becoming superman, considering that Lois Lane will be his future wife it is only believable that sooner or later he started develop feelings for her.

I just want to state that I'm one of the viewers who start to see this show the moment Lois Lane was introduced.

naaaaaa jealous people...

Erica is the one of the most well acting on the series...

and I love her Lois Lane....

Lois needs to go! Hate her

Once upon a time in season 4, episodes 1-4, I liked "Lois". That all changed when TPTB decided to shoehorn her into the show while other characters were sent to the backburner and making her very unlikeable and unlike any Lois Lane I've ever known.

I see nothing admirable in this "Lois." I don't see this so-called independence, especially when she lived off the po' Kents and got handed jobs, and not when she relies on nepotism to get into school. Okay, I'll say she's outspoken but not about anything that really matters like truth and justice. But nothing that comes out of "Lois'" mouth contributes to the Clark Kent story in an organic way. I have nothing against Erica, but I would really appreciate it if the CW stop shoving her down our throats while asking,"do you love her, yet?" Sorry, I don't.

I'd rather see a profile on Michael Rosenbaum, Kristin Kreuk, Allison Mack, or John Glover who has a very important charity auction for Alzheimer's disease.

Here's an idea. How 'bout in a star of the week thread for Erica, people leave the hatred at the door and say something nice?

Smallville is a television show, and these actors are just doing their jobs to the best of their abilities. Unlike this fandom, everyone on the show gets along and are friends. I've seen some of the absolute rudest most disrespectful comments by everyone hiding behind their keyboards about Erica the person just because of what happens on the TV show. Not just her character, but her, which she does not deserve.

Television is make-believe and for fun. People's feelings are real. And Erica is a real person and she has feelings. If Allison, Kristin, Tom, Michael or any other cast members saw the rude things said about her they would be disgusted, because Erica is their friend and castmate.

How about people try and act like adults and be respectful and polite. This isn't a thread to complain about Lois, this is a thread to celebrate Erica who was chosen as the star of the week.

Erica, do not listen to people who badmouth you and criticize you. Your family, friends, and fans all know how wonderful a young woman you are! I think you are doing a wonderful job as Lois Lane on Smallville! Your fans love and support you always, Erica!!

The dumbest Lois Lane ever.

Congrats, Erica, you DESERVE that!!!
Erica is AWESOME!!!!

In time....
I really can´t stand you anymore, bashers!!!!!
GRRRRRR!!!!

Congrats to Erica! Lois is my favorite character so its nice to see her appreciated!

And BASHERS, shut your faces and go somewhere else! You don't have anything nice to so don't comment!

Nothing against Erica but her Lois does nothing for me.

Outspoke: How about really rude to Clark and others for no reason?

Independent: When you have to mooch off of people for a place to stay or when you get handed jobs that you don't deserve in the first place that isn't really being independent at all.

As for Clark developing feelings for Lois, Clark would either need a massive head trauma or a brain transplant to fall for someone who in the end is going to be nothing more than a pale imitation of Chloe Sullivan.

Erica Durance/Lois Lane is The Best things that's ever happen to the series since the arrival of Baby Kal-EL to Earth from Krypton in "the Pilot" episode.

I'm so glad Superman's true love is on the show, Season 4's arrival of Lois Lane into The series is what saved this series from the awful dark Season in Season 3.

Erica/Lois brings a lot of humor to this show as well as comedy [The Lois & Clark playful bantering is awesome.]

Erica & Tom have a great chemistry.

Keep up the awesome work Erica .

Erica is awesome, and I love her portrayal of Lois. Keep up the good work! :)

Do you believe spoilers that say that Clark will develop feelings for Lois this season?

Eww, I hope not. Yuck!

Even Howard Stern knows they have no chemistry lol

Lois is hardly independent. She convinced Clark to let her mooch off the Kents. How is that independent? Oh and she got Lex's help for college.

Being rude to people, and swaggering around, doesn't mean independent you know...

If she was really independent she wouldn't be crying to Clark about having to sleep in her car unless he helps her out. She'd find her own job and place to live.

She should at least have been seen to get into college without having to heave her chest at the nearest man in sight for help. Too much of a stretch?

So, I can only assume another Star of The Week will go up featuring Justin Hartley soon? I mean, this is the network of guest stars instead of the regulars right? As usual, the CW is hitting a home-run as they continue to ignore the talent that brought fans to this network.

She may not be the same Lois you know from the comics or anywhere else, but we like how this one's independent and outspoken

When does getting everything handed to her from jobs to an entrance to university count as independance? Oh no! You must mean the article where she researched by using Chloe's explanation for the barn door, before she proceeded to present it to Chloe - complete with spelling errors - so Chloe could get it published for her? Right, that's just the sort of independance Lois Lane needs to show.

Not to mention she has never had to pay for anything she's done wrong in this show. And we're supposed to buy that this make her character okay to be Lois Lane? Please.

By the way, even the folks over at Superman Homepage seem to recognise that Lois’ physical attributes are the best thing going for her (as does Howard Stern from what I gather on the net). Neill Bailley’s review of the snot-worthy Sneeze is about the best I’ve read so far. And he accurately points out that after FIVE seasons on this show, AM had to deliver a line to acknowledge that she’s jealous of Lois’ body? Is that the equivalent of Chloe’s okay for this Lois Lane to step in and take her place? Never let it be said that the SV writers don’t have stellar story-lines to back-up their lightswitches. Lois is hot, Chloe thinks so, so therefore it’s okay for her to be Lois Lane? AM has stuck with this show through thick and thin and some serious disrespect from this network and this show and continues to give it her all. And what does the CW do? Continue to ignore her talent.

I like Erica. She's cute, and I think Lois'll make a great match with Ollie in the meantime.

Guys, Tom Welling was a Star of the Week, and there have been posts about the others. Oh, except Kristin, a.k.a. Piglet!

I don't really like Lois because she has no point to her. Lana is Clark's love interest for Smallville. And Chloe is the reporter.

What exactly does Lois do? Oh thats right, annoy the audience

She may not be the same Lois you know from the comics or anywhere else, but we like how this one's independent and outspoken.

Well Claire, I completely agree with you that she's not the same Lois from the comics - not even close! But I definitely disagree with you that she is independent. She got all of her jobs on hand outs (except the Inquisitor garbage, but don't even get me started on that) and she mooched off the Kents for over a year! Not to mention she needed Lex to pull strings just to get her into college (I guess earning her own way was too difficult). Seriously, how in the world is that "independent"??? Honestly, nothing against Erica herself, but the Lois she plays on Smallville is an annoying bimbo and a disgrace to the name "Lois Lane." I can't believe the writers/producers expect us to believe that this woman will someday win a Pulitzer for her work in journalism! Lois is a complete joke, and an insult to my intelligence.

we like Lois because she's a little rough around the edges.

Define we? I have no use for Smallville's Lois whatsoever, sorry

Sorry, but I'm not feeling the ED love.
She may not be the same Lois you know from the comics or anywhere else, but we like how this one's independent and outspoken.
She's certainly not the same Lois, I'll give you that. And OK, she's "outspoken." But independent? Since when? She's lived off the Kents for the last two seasons. Until last week's miraculous lightswitch, she hasn't held a single job that wasn't a gift from the Kents. Not only is that NOT the "same" Lois I've seen elsewhere, that's a Lois I don't want to see *anywhere*.

I'm hoping that this season, Clark will develop feelings for the *real* Lois Lane of Smallville, Chloe Sullivan. :)

TV Guide already spilled the beans as did ED that there's no Clois anywhere in our future, so meh. Nothing happening there, and that's the way we like it, thank you. Chloe and Clark however continue to be amazing on the show and Clark is showing that he is more than a Big Dumb Alien by helping clean up Metropolis last week.

BTW, when do we get a Star of the week for the other REGULAR characters on the show? You know - Michael Rosenbaum, Allison Mack and Kristen Kreuk? Or for that matter Annette O'Toole and John Glover? Seriously, is this network content to drive way old school fans by ignoring the actors and actresses we've been follwoing for five seasons?

Oh no, my bad. That's what the CW does REALLY well.

Huh. Yeah, not to mention she's never graduated high school, got an entrance into university on a silver platter before she promptly got kicked out. Thought nothing of taking Luthor's money to win an election and thus far has issue with what investigative reporting is. No wait, she has no idea what it is exactly. Her calling as far as she knows is begins with a lie, and she's okay with it? Please. Fans aren't.

Her impressive lightswitch from last week is still causing blackouts with SV fans. I really don't understand when the PTBs on this show decided that this generation of Superman viewers were so stupid as to be okay with this character as our Lois Lane.

All she's going to do is step into Chloe's shoes at the end of the series.

Should Clark develop feelings for this caricature, I'd suggest we prepare for another blackout as Superman joins Lois Lane as becoming quite frankly, ridiculous.

On the upside, Sneeze showed he's already on his way to learning to save the world.

And, honestly, what about Allison Mack, Kristin Kreuk or for that matter Michael Rosenbaum as Stars of the Week? Or is this an effort to mitigate the horrendous Howard Stern interview yesterday? Or is this the network of guest stars now without bothering to show off the talent of their regulars?

Lois is my favorite character, and I'm so psyched about her relationship with REAL Superhero Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. I just saw the director's cut where they meet for the first time and she thinks he's just a curier and gives him a tip! Awesome!
