Reasons to be Thankful: Smallville
![]()
Because there's no new episode this week, we figured we'd take a page out of Clark's book and talk about some of the things we're thankful for this season.
#1. Superman is growing up. Clark is finally realizing he has a destiny, and it encompasses the whole world, not just Smallville. He's discovering new powers and acknowledging his responsibility to serve and protect his adopted home. He's evolving into a real superhero. We're thrilled by that growth process, and we can't wait to see what comes next.
#2. New heroes emerge. Yes, we know, the show is called Smallville and it's about the young Superman, but we're loving meeting all the new heroes that are coming out of the shadows. Green Arrow, Flash, Cyborg, Martian Manhunter - we can't wait to see them get together in the beginnings of the Justice League. Plus, we've got a wish list of other DC-universe characters we'd love to see: Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern… The possibilities are endless.
#3. Compelling women. Yeah, we know, there's a war going on between the Chloe fans and the Lois fans. Forget that for now, and think about how cool it is that we've got such strong, resourceful (and yes, gorgeous)
women on our show. Think about Chloe and Lois as a crime-fighting duo - with Lois' martial arts moves and Chloe's smart, there wouldn't be a criminal left in all of Metropolis! Add in Lana's pregnancy storyline, and you've got a whole bunch of juicy material for the women of Smallville to play with.
#4. Hooray for the grown-ups! Smallville is full of relationships, and just about every pairing seems to have its fans and detractors. But for our money, the most compelling relationship on Smallville right now is the growing one between Lionel Luthor and Martha Kent. Will Martha's love redeem Lionel? Will Lionel draw Martha into his seedy world? Will Clark be scarred for life if he ever catches them making out? There are so many scenarios, and all of them make us giddy with anticipation. All hail the good ship Martha/Lionel! Long may it sail!
Are you as thankful as we are for these developments this season?
Comments
Even in an "alternate timeline" where Clark is in the loony bin, Chloe is the only character, (aside from the yet-to-be-disclosed J'onn J'onnz) who protects him at all cost. The Smallville writers hands are tied by 50+ years of Superman mythos (and Warner Bros. editorial interference) but MY,MY,MY..... the Mack/Welling scenes simmer with the power of understated eros ("Chloe, you mean more to me than you'll ever know.") Lana is merely the untouchable prom queen. Clark, you DOPE!

Hey guys, hey smallville fans. I feel like I email all the time now. I just had a few more comments. I did just say last week how it would be cool to have cliffhangers by the series end. But, for me personally, I would love to have all the answers by the series end because it'll make me feel complete and whole about the show. I wouldn't mind having a cliffhanger by the series end, but I am hoping whever questions we all have about the series itself, and not superman's future, will be answered.
One more thing. I did glance at a few comments on where the storyline is heading in terms of, is Clark the focal piont, or is this just about lex and lana. I get those points, however, when you're dealing with a film tv series, you must stick with the storyline. I mean, Smallville got to this pint by sticking with the storyline. And it's deeper than that. You can't just have a Clark-Lex storyline anymore because they are simply not friends anymore. It would be natural for both characters to have separate story lines. And plus, Clark Lex and all of the important characters will eventually interconnect this season, but you just have...stick with the storyline. I have faith in the show and I know things will unfold eventually and things will make sense eventually.
I'm sure I'll have more to tell soon.
See you guys.

Meg...you intrigue me, lol. This is Michael, I don't know if the website will allow me to post my email here, but I wanted to know if you wanted to email me at my email address strengthmop@msn.com. Thank you for your comments and thanks for responding back to me. And don't worry...either we email each other through our email addresses or through this website, I have lots more to tell, lol.
A few more things to say. I like episode 2 this season because it was just cute. And to be honestly, up until episode two I just couldn't wait to see the super powered breath and it finally came. That rocked!
And, I found your comments to be really good and interesting. For me personally, since the show hits me so much every episode to me is great because like I said, what...3 emails ago, lol...what motivates me is the Clark Lex Clash that will inevitably happen. You also made a great point about end the series with a cliffhanger and ending the series with a high for us as fans to wonder what will or could happen next.
Hope to hear from you again Meg from here or from my email address.
Hey fans, lol.

Hey Michael,
me again, meg...yip..I am addicted to this too!..post all the time! :)
Anyways, I think Smallville will be at most 7 seasons. I believe the producers said that they hope for a 7th season, and after that, they are not going to overstay their welcome.
Honestly, I love Smallville, but if they keep giving me soap operas and little Tom Welling..I dont know if they will have a season 7. There are more stories to tell, more Jor-El and the Fortress to give us...and so much more to do..but sometimes I wonder if TPTB are subconsciously trying to NOT have a season 7...maybe the next half of season 6 will be better and give me more hope.
I also think a show should stop when it is at it's highest point...with lots of cliffhangers in the last few minutes of the episode...left unanswered. Sometimes if shows try to wrap up and answer everything, then the end is anti-climatic...hope Smallville ends on a high, and ends with such cliffhangers that fans can only speculate for months to come, and create lots of fan fiction about what they hope happens in the future!!!...i think THAT is what makes the end of a series remarkable.

Hey guys, it's Michael again for the 3rd day in a row. As you can see I'm really diggin' this email thing.
If there is something I also wonder about that would be the length of the series itself. What I'm trying to say is Clark will almost go to the fortress and obtain the knowledge needed, Lex is almost going to his destiny as the ultimate villain, and I begin to wonder...
How much more seasons can Smallville realistickly dish out. Could this be the final season...I personally hope not. I trully feel they have one more left in them or even at most two more. And I say 1 or 2 seasons possibly more because what you don't want to do is ruine a great series like Smallville just because you want fill up the page. If you feel you have enough storyline than that should be it. Keep it simple, don't over do it, and don't mess with the basics.
If anyone wants to respond to this...well...I hope you do, lol.
To the person who responded to my last email I am truly grateful.
Until next time, good bye Smallville fans.

Erica Durance, she is the one who make me addicted in the show after I lost my faith in season 3. Because Lois rocks and she is here to stay !
Aaron Ashmore, who become my favorite character after Lois. Jimmy is so adorable, cute and funny and his scenes with Chloe are great. I was waiting for him for a long time. Now I'm expecting to see more friendship between him and Clark (with no jealous of Chloe involved) and his meeting with Lois. m:)
Justin Hartley, Another good reason why season 6 is so great. Green Arrow/Oliver Queen rocks. I love the dynamic with Erica and Tom he had. And his friendship with Clark is pretty great.m:)
Tom Welling who is becaming every day a more mature actor.
Allison Mack, Altought i'm not pleased with Chloe this season (she is very OOC)but Alli rocks ! And I want more Chloe and Lois scenes without any mean remarks from Chloe to Lois. They are best friends for god's sakes.
Annette O'tolle - The best Lana Lang ever and she is doing a wonderful job as Clark's mother.
And of course, I shouldn't forgot to mentioned: Clois (the best Smallville couple), Cousins (because they rock !!!!)Lollie (because even as a Clois fan, I also enjoy the chemistry between Lois and Oliver) and Chimmy (because it's time for Chloe to move on...)

LOL! Agree about continuity, yeah, please bring back Shelby!
I'd love to see Sam Lane again, Lois's confrontation with the general was so funny and interesting, he should be brought back and the bracelet offcourse, it must come up when Clark realizes he loves Lois, so he can give it to his soulmate!

1) How was Clark able to hear a phone call from the future when Adam was attempting to shoot Lana in season 3?
2) How was Dr. Swan able to retrieve the key when the key went through the wall in season 3?
I would just love to know those answers in time.
Thanks"

Welcome to the blog. I hope your questions get answered...but Lord knows Smallville is not one for continuity! LOL!
I have so many questions myself, but I doubt anything will be answered. HA! It will probably be lost in all the mayhem like Gabe Sullivan, General Lane, Shelby, the Fever letter, and the bracelet from seasons long gone! :) :)

so...i was just wanting to drop a few lines about Clana. Yes, it appears their tale is done as far as Smallville is concerned, however, why must it be thrown in the garbage in such a manner? In pretty much most of the Superman lore, Lana Lang is Clark Kent's confidante, the one who got away, etc. So their not gonna be together..we knew this was coming, but did AlMiles have to really trash CLana and the fans like this? I can't tell you how many Smallville(not justCLana)fans have completely lost interest/respect for this show. Recycled/tired storylines, characters who've lost their..well, lost THEIR character, and a supposed superhero whom can't make a wise decision to save his life. I say, give me my Smallville back or take it away forever, cuz' i don't want this crap u're trying to force-feed us!
"go clana, go"

She earns everything she has simply by the grace of having a name.
--------
Yes Logan, all because her name is Lois Lane.
Here Chloe fans were, so wanting to change Chloe's name to Lois so that she might also get that luck Lois has of getting everything right!
But damn! Al & Miles didn't even take that into consideration and brought Erica Durance on the show and made her Lois Lane, and now look!! She is even moving towards becoming a top journalist!
All because her damn name is Lois Lane!
I think there isn't anything super about Clark either, he only becomes Superman because he happens to have the name Clark Kent!
Didn't Lex Luthor and Jimmy Olsen deserved more to be Superman? Or how about Shelby, he even wore the cape! Or Oliver, my God, he even wears a costume!
But aarrggghh..
They don't become Superman because their name is not Clark Kent!
Damn DC! Damn Al Miles! Damn Smallville!

Shalimarfox80, you forgot to mention that Oliver's character was also woven beautifully with Lex's past too. Reunion was a great episode. Oliver has interacted with all three of the major characters of the Superman comics, i.e., Clark, Lois and Lex.
Chloe fan, let's stop this nonsensical bashing please.
Everyone saved everyone on Smallville, none of them would be alive if they all hadn't been saving each other!
Clark wouldn't be alive if Jonathan hadn't taken out that bullet in 'Extinction' remember?
Jimmy Olsen is such a sweet character from the mythos. Aaron has done a great job in small time. He deserves only to be praised. I don't see what wrong he has done to deserve this kind of hate from you. Infact, I love this Jimmy more than the movies version.
Please, now let's be positive, and not do this bashing, and I am requesting both Chloe as well as Lois fans!

Like who hasn't saved who on this show (rolls eyes)....you forgot to mention the part where Lana saved Lois...cause without that....both Lois & Chloe would probably be dead. Come to think of it....by the time Lois had gotten there, the FOTW would have already finished choking Chloe....so NO...Lois DID NOT save Chloe in that episode...get your information straight......and I haven't said anything here that wasn't the truth....whether it's my honest opinion or a certifiable fact. And just because I don't glorify the "important" cannon characters to God like Status, doesn't mean I'm disrespecting them.
P.S. Except the bone head that is Jimmy Olson.....I'll admit to blasting that sidekick loser (but as far as I'm concerned, it's the CW that is disrespecting me by having me watch that sorry dork....either that or force myself to miss my favorite show). And on this TV show....he's very deserving of my disdain. What a useless waste of screen time. Needless to say, I don't consider him important....not to Smallville anyway.

Chloe fan,
All I've gotta say to you is, the word 'Chlois' wasn't invented by Lois Lane fans, it was invented by Chloe fans.
So now you know who has a 'Lois comparison complex'
Chloe fans had antagonism for Lois from day one. Even when Lois hadn't made any fans. They decided not to accept Lois at any cost.
So even if on Smallville if Lois is shown to be a Pulitzer winner journalist, bashing posts against Lois will still continue.
What is even more lame is that you think that by doing so, Chloe might get some attention.
But you guys forgot that Chloe already was a loved character, even when Lois wasn't on the show, so Lois bashing merely made Chloe loose fans, didn't do any harm to Lois though.
---------
Chloe fan wrote:
Has it ever occured to you that a lot of people are sick and tired having a good number of Clois fans shove negative comments at them ALL THE TIME!
-----------
Have you ever noticed that Lois fans are on defensive all the time, read the first posts of this blog, they all start with Lois bashing.
-------------
Chloe fan wrote:
" so quit this whole "We're not the ones who started it" crap. Both sides have their good and bad.
-----------
Exactly, both Lois and Chloe characters have their flaws. They are the errors made by writers, so quit promoting Chloe as a Lois replacement, or saying Chloe is better than Lois, because clearly she is not!
Although Lois is the one with an old history, so all this negative remarks might work in her favor and writers might remove even the smallest flaws from her character.
-----------
Chloe fan wrote:
And don't think that these antagonistic feelings toward Lois are coming solely out of some type of Chloe fan frustration.
-------------
If you are Chloe fans, why not focus on praising or critisizing Chloe instead of paying so much attention to Lois? You guys should't even be mentioning Lois if you dislike her that much, but every post of a Chloe fan starts with a comment on Lois!
So yes, it is nothing but frustration.
Or else, why would you praise Chloe after every Lois bashing comment and try to prove that Chloe is somewhat better than Lois.
This comparison shows your frustration!
"Lois got a barndoor and Chloe printed her story with proof..."
If that is not frustration, what do you call it?
Chloe fans are the ones who non stop compare Chloe to Lois, list Chloe's virtues while debating how 'non iconic' Smallville's Lois is.
Go and read some of the Chloe fans posts "Lois is a liar" "Superman has to save her ass"
Chloe fans EVEN have names for Erica Durance!!
So yes, all of this equates to some type of frustration Chloe fans have.
There are some outrageous fans in our fanbase too, I won't deny it. But they only come out when Chloe fans hijack forums and blogs for their useless propaganda against Lois's character.
If you STILL think calling Lois by names, calling her a liar etc is helping Chloe in any way, than go ahead, keep doing it.

Wow, what can I say. One of my favorite shows of all time and I get to email my thoughts and feelings about it. When I first heard about the show, I was thinking it was just another superman show. But when I actually saw it, it just hit me. The acting, the story line, the special affects, the settings, and the mood and tone of the show is quite remarkable. A few more things I do want to mention, since I talk a mile a minute. Season 4 had a shaky start, but it turned out (honestly) to be an awesome season. I am glad you guys went back to the basics in season 5 and it did turn out to be the best season to date. Season 5 had the same tone and mood as the first 3 seasons. However, as I hoped and felt, the last season was just flat out great because the storyline got juicier, I hope I spelled that right...and the show is just simply maturing each and every year. Lastly, what motivates me about the show is the Clark Lex saga. And you can tell as a viewer of the show those two legendary characters will evidently clash. I know I said too much, but that's how I feel about the show, and I will email again. Thanks.

I was reading a Justin Hartley interview today, and this wonderful and humble actor made me come back to this blog, to specially thank Al Miles for bringing this handsome man to Smallville.
Oliver Queen has been such a wonderful character. His looks, his sophistication, his instant chemistry with Lois and Clark, all has been so amazing.
Above all, Oliver is a hero and he taught Clark so many things in so many respects. He also made Clark realize how special Clark himself is.
Also I loved Oliver's beautiful relation with Lois and how it brought out the vulnerable and loving side of Lois Lane.
I love Erica Durance as Lois Lane and I am so glad that Al Miles gave her character such a wonderful relationship to cherish, before off course, moving to her soulmate, the Man of Steel, aka Clark Kent.
I enjoyed JH/ED chemistry as much as I enjoy TW/ED's amazing chemistry.
Thank you Justin, and thanks Al Miles for bringing him.

My reasons to be thankful for Smallville:
The wonderful Clark!
The awesome Lois!
The great Lex (though he's not the evil Lex this season, I don't like it)
Martha, Lionel, Chloe, Lana, Jonathan, Jimmy, Oliver (HOT HOT HOT) and Shelby!
Oh and Tom and Erica, the most gorgeous Lois and Clark of all times. Their chemistry rocks!
Thanks for Hydro & thanks for Clois!!!!!!!

Wonderful post Lizzy.
When the writers made Chloe use Lois's name, they merely foreshadowed the introduction of Lois, which happened in Crusade.
I wonder where this presumption came from that Chloe is anything like Lois?
At best, I see Chloe as a female Jimmy Olsen on the show and comparing her to Lois is like comparing Clark to Jimmy Olsen.
Seems like to Chloe fans, comparing Chloe to Lois is the only way to give Chloe some importance.
I agree that I enjoy Chloe too, but Chloe fans comparisons of her with Lois as far from real and hillarious most of the times.
Enjoy Chloe's character, don't try to give her Lois's place in the story, because no one can ever claim that. Lois Lane remains the ultimate love of Clark's life and the strong reporter and great character of this story.
Posted by: Jensenlover | November 28, 2006 2:23 AM
So tell me.....is that why Superman in both the present & the future has to save Lois' ass all the time? Now, now....You're the one who said Lois could do it all by herself.
------
If Lois and Clark hadn't saved Chloe in gone, she'd be dead by now! So stop disrespecting the canon characters.

You make a lot of valid points (in you're rather long post), but you're also frikin' way off the mark on others. Comments like "I feel sorry for you guys cause we all know who he ends up with"......"Chloe isn't 1% of what Lois is"..."Chloe isn't in the mythos"....etc....etc...etc...." so quit this whole "We're not the ones who started it" crap. Both sides have their good and bad. There are only a few things that I'm thankful for with regards to this show.
First and foremost, I am thankful that after almost 5 painstaking years, Lexana has finally come into fruition. The writers may not be going at it perfectly, but I have always believed that through Lexana, we can finally see a different side to my favorite character, Lex Luthor. By extension, I thank the showrunners for finally giving Lexana the greenlight.
I am thankful for Michael Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor. His portrayal gives me an appreciation and empathy for the villain, for whom I would naturally reserve disdain.
I am also thankful that we are finally seeing the Clark that is going to be Superman. I have never been a Clark fan, but now that he is taking up his future mantle, he is beginning to take favor with me.

Anyways, as always, Thankful for Smallville and the wonderfully, beautiful, sexy, handsome, intelligent, funny man that is Tom Welling! :)

Reason to be thankful:
Can I sit on Tom Welling's lap for Christmas?? He could put on a Santa suit if he wants!...lol...now THAT would make me VERY VERY thankful!

By Smallville is the way to go:
I can understand where the heated Chloe-Lois wars are coming from. (And let's not say that it is one way bashing...because we ALL know it is not...the bashing is from both sides, both equally severe)
---------
While I agree with most of things you have said, I'd humbly like to tell you, that if you read the first few posts, on this blog and on any other, you'd realize that Chloe fans start their comments by bashing Lois and end it on bashing Lois.
And the reality is, there is nothing wrong with Lois at all, infact, this version of Lois is better than any other, because it shows the struggling Lois.
The problem with Chloe fans is that before Lois came, they fantisized Clark in a romance with Chloe, and secondly, when Chloe used her cousin's name as a psydomym in Delete, Chloe fans twisted it to think that she might change her name to Lois, just because they knew Clark ends up with Lois in the future.
However, when Al Miles introduced the real Lois Lane in S4, Chloe fans instead of seeing that Chloe and Lois were two different people, came out bashing Lois and comparing her to Chloe, in hopes that by doing so, Al Miles might take Lois back.
However, as we see, Lois who was slated for only 4 episodes is now a series regular, has an ever growing fandom and her character keeps becoming the important character on the show, why? Only because a larger section of fans accepted and loved her!
Chloe fans, instead of enjoying both characters, keep coming up with constant bahing of Lois, in hopes that it might work in their favor, but as we can see, it is doing Chloe more and more damage.
The Lois fans who loved Chloe and Chlo-Lo, now hate Chloe, and the unfortunate fact is, poor Chloe has done nothing wrong, her fans have done this to her.
So I guess, the day this pathetic 'comparison' thing by Chloe fans would stop, there would be no bashing on these forums.
We all know that Smallville is based on Superman and Lois Lane plays a very important and strong role in the story, so why bash her? When you know she'll only be given more and more importance in the future storylines of the show.
I enjoy Chloe most of the times, her relationship with Jimmy this season and the investigating duo of Daily Planet has made Chloe character more likeable, but Chloe fans keep bashing Jimmy too. Why? No idea!
So stop with this comparison and bashing spree.
Listing Lois's flaws and Chloe's qualitities is doing nothing but starting fan wars.
We know Lois has as many fans as Chloe, even growing, so it is pointless to bash a popular character that is not going anywhere and infact has an established place in a decades old prestigious story!

I'm thankful for the exciting turn that the story lines continue to take all the way into season six.
I'm thankful for such great acting and amazing characters (Clark, Lois, Martha and Chloe continue to be favourites).
I'm thankful that we're seeing more superhero flavour within the Smallville continuity.

When will the CW start showing previous shows on line? I can't get enought of Smallville

The sins of the past keep coming back for the Chloe-Lois wars...
"this one betrayed Clark, her "best friend'...this one got her calling from a barn door..this one finally got a nerdy boyfriend so she can get over her Lois wanna be dream"...on and on and on...
what i see from this is that no character is perfect and that's why I like them...even Clark Kent, the hero is not perfect. I think they all make mistakes and grow from it, which is good. We all make mistakes in real life and regret it...but I dont think that a person's past or present mistakes are the only thing that defines them.
I can understand where the heated Chloe-Lois wars are coming from. (And let's not say that it is one way bashing...because we ALL know it is not...the bashing is from both sides, both equally severe)
People have watched characters develop for years, endure hardships and become better because of it...and represent those individuals who have to work really hard and take the long road to get anything that they want in life..complete with mistakes and setbacks. And then new characters are introduced who seem to just get things handed because of a name...and dont go through half of the struggle of existing characters...yet everything just falls into place for them.
It's the writing that does not take this into consideration at all...maybe they are in a hurry and didnt properly plan what they were going to do with these characters...who knows
maybe if TPTB had started a steady character development since the introduction in season 4, rather than trying to rush it now, maybe it would seem more realistic...
but what is done is done...we wait to see what will happen in the future

Chloe didn't lie, she printed what she couldn't prove and THAT is why the principal called her on it. It was an early lesson in real journalism and it's one that has served her well. "Lois" has yet to learn it. As for the "betrayal," it wasn't but I tire of hearing it just the same. Bad move? Yes. Instantly regretted? Yes. Actual betrayal? WIth fulfilling her promise to give info on Clark to Lionel? No.
As for beautiful women on Smallville? Yeah, that's great! But I like smart and dedicated and hardworking girls who get where they are by doing what real journalists do as well. And that's Chloe all the way.

I'm thankful for the FACT that Lana CAN'T POSSIBLY be pregnant anymore. There is NO WAY any PREGNANT woman can sustain that much electricity through her body and NOT miscarriage! Although I have a feeling that the show will have her continue with the pregnancy. .....oh well, maybe SHE'S WONDER WOMAN!

i think we all forgetting this is a program...which means it not real...no matter how much will love it to be, it not...i am a chloe fan and i have to admit i stopped watching smallville when they introduced in lois as the future clark girl...i mean she can't be d real lois, she does not look nor act like her...and wat right does she have to come in after so many years and steal chloe's man...with all the hard work chloe as put into her relationship with clark..all the stuff that his worth the wait...and don't forget people, that chloe role is not part of the original story or comic and that they she was made up...i wanna know why...why was chloe made up...for wat reason did they think the show needed a girl that was not part of the original story....wat is her role in smallville or superman...i think the answer is right in front of us...it's because this is not the retold story of superman..it is the story of clark kent and we don't know how it unfolds yet...but we know one thing...chloe is there for a reason...she is what set the show apart from the other superman....she doesn't have to become lois lane...she is already lois lane for clark kent.

Remember in S1 when the Principal of school dismissed Chloe for lying in her article in Rogue?
Remember when Chloe betrayed her "best friend" Clark to land an article at Daily Planet in Exodus?
Remember Chloe's Vampire story that made to the bin in "Thirst"?
Remember that her first byline is thanks to Lois and Clark in Exposed?
I am thankful Lois didn't take that route, her first article made a byline on front page.
I am thankful when she wrote for Torch in Facade, she got fanmail!
When she gets to DP she'll be a top reporter, while Chloe can stay at the basement!
Thank you Al Miles!

I am thankful for the maturing Clark!
I am thankful for polishing Lois more and more this season!
I am thankful that Lois is teaming up with Jimmy, and I hope she gets to DP soon!
I hope Clark and Lois team up this season!
I hope Chloe fans stop Lois bashing, it hasn't done anything to Lois but Chloe hate is increasing day by day. It is just a TV show, enjoy it and if you don't like Lois, then just don't talk about her.
Either way, you are not going to change the fact that Clark ends up with Lois not Chloe!

Chloe fans can keep bashing Lois and keep poisoning the well.
Works more and more to Lois's advantage! We don't care!
I am thankful for Clark, Lois, Jimmy, Lex, Lana, Oliver, and everything else on the show.
Oh and thanks for giving the girl nerd her first boyfriend, may be now she might come out of her 'Lois wannabe' dream!

I am thankful every Thursday, and every other day of the week while I await another Thursday for Smallville.
It's the only show that I really make a conscious effort to watch really.
I will be even more thankful if TPTB do not cave in to some demands and make Smallville just another "Superman show". One of the reasons that I love Smallville is because it is so unique from all other Superman-realted shows and movies. It combines some core characters of this "mythos" and adds new ones to it...making it linked to Superman and yet able to stand on it's own.
As much as I like Jimmy and Lois, I dont want this show to become: "Superman: The Adventures of Clark, Lois and Jimmy"...leave that for the next Superman Returns movie. I understand that a show needs new characters for new plots and to move the show forward, but I hope that Smallville will keep it's uniqueness and stay away from that worn-out path.
But I await where the rest of the season will take us..hopefully in a good direction for all.
So tell me.....is that why Superman in both the present & the future has to save Lois' ass all the time?
So tell me...when is the last time you read a comic book? He doesn't have to save her 'ass' all the time. A few times even she has saved his.
-------------------------
Oh, you mean the way Chloe's always saving his ass on this show. And come off it.....Superman's never had to save Lois in the movies or in the comics?......let alone this TV show? Now were talking the whole history of the mythos here.....don't be shoving it solely onto a few comic book issues or even story archs.
And again, if you want Lois & Clark....go rent the DVD's.....if you want comic book Lois & Clark....go read the comics.....but on a show that started out with everyone but Lois & Jimmy.....let the Smallville fans enjoy what they started watching since day one of Smallville. And yes...to an extent (13 episodes only a year..thankfully) that includes Lois.....even if she does get everything handed to her because of the precious name...man, that is so boring.....yeah, that and flying barn doors will get you some great character development.

I am thankful for... adding Lois Lane into the show in season 4. She's the best thing that's happened to it. She's the best current Lois Lane onscreen & I'm so happy that "SV" keeps bringing her back every year.
I am thankful for... what we've seen of Lois's development this year. I love that she's getting screentime and that we're see her move towards destiny.
I am thankful for... Michael Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor. Other than "JLU" MR's Lex is the best Lex Luthor I've seen onscreen.
I am thankful for... Clark starting to work on his own and developing his own methods of investigation outside of Chloe. The best parts of "Static" were the parts with Clark in Seattle.
I am thankful for... the Justice League. Can't wait to see all the superheroes come together. Green Arrow has been (surprisingly) entertaining this season.
I am thankful for... Oreos!! Can't wait for the Martian Manhunter to make a his appearance on the show.
I am thankful for... the CW. Realizing that bringing "SV" over to the new channel was a no-brainer. Here's hoping they make the same smart decision about "Veronica Mars" for next year.
I am thankful for... Jimmy Olsen. So glad that Chloe has found someone that makes her happy & it's loads of fun watching the Chlimmy interaction on the show. Would love to see more of him.
I am thankful for... the "Supernatual" boys for following up my favorite show with a fantastic show in it's own right. Part of what makes Thursday "must-see" TV for me.
And, last but not least, I'm thankful for Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Annette O'Toole, Allison Mack and Michael Rosenbaum... for bringing these awesome characters to life onscreen every week! "SV" wouldn't be the same without them.

I would be thankful the day Chloe fans post something Lois-bashing-free.
Last time I checked, EDLois found her calling when a barn door went flying past. Unless that's been retconned, Chloe being spared that indignity, is something I am thankful for. It is what the show told me of EDLois' beginning and I have to deal with it. I am doing so, grateful in the knowledge that Chloe will never have to go through something like that. All I did was mention a plot point I am grateful that Chloe was spared. That's not bashing, thats EDLois fans twisting words onto a fan's opinion because they have no defense at a character point against EDLois.
And I am thankful that Lois didn't write her first story about Vampires nor did her fate include writing obituaries.
As so you should be. Chloe printed that story with proof and exposed the sorority. EDLois would have made something up without bothering to find the proof and evidence Chloe presented to Pauline Khan that got her in at the basement of the DP. No, even this sort of story is beyond EDLois as she would have really printed a story about vampires instead of digging any further.
Oh and, writing obituaries while working her way up has far more dignity than simply lying in order to have the satisfaction of seeing her name on the front page has EDLois continues to do.
I am thankful that Lois is having two successful careers, has an awesome boyfriend, and will end up with the Man of Steel and right now she continues to evolve more instead of becoming a stagnant character.
Yes, indeed, EDLois is far too good for this show. What with being Chief of Staff for a Senator, scoring a rich billionaire boyfriend out of that relationship, while lying all the while in her other career since it's her calling - of course that means she really has to lie to get ahead instead of earning her way there, because that's what you do when you find your calling - the lieing I mean. And all the while without a secondary education.
Gosh darn it, EDLois is far better than the Man of Steel! She's definately above all "truth, justice and other stuff". Most especially, truth. Yup, she's just brilliant beyond belief. I am sure there's already a barn door...err, desk at the Daily Planet with her name on it. And a Pulitzer being shined with her nam on it.
She earns everything she has simply by the grace of having a name. Would that the rest of the Smallville world should be so lucky. Not to mention she's definately beyond those pitiful fans who thought they might get the amazing chance to see Lois Lane, like Clark Kent, begin her journey towards the character we know. No, we get a barn door.

Personally, I don't mind Lois & Clark in the future......just the fans of the present who want to pin the "S" on Lois already.... instead of Clark. So I will again say to ones such as you....GO WATCH LOIS & CLARK DVD's if that's what you want.....and let us fans who started watching Smallville (with Clark, Lex, Lana, Chloe, Martha, and Lionel) from the begining (where there was no Lois I might add) and let us enjoy this T.V. SHOW'S ORIGINAL FOUNDING CHARACTERS!!!!!! This WB SHOW began with them, and it should end with them..... not with the LOIS & CLARK show.

Sure, when EDLois wins her Pulitzer. Until then, laughing at her lightswitches is the only way I have left to cope with her characterization. I would go for completely ignoring it, as I pretty much watch for the four main characters from previous seasons. And Mlionel. I can't help myself, those two are hot. Laughing makes EDLois' scenes easier to bear and the thought of how nice and flat Kansas is with it's wealth of barn doors. I have to remember to duck and watch Ugly Betty when next I hear she's due for one. I really do believe the show isn't above having one with Pulizter Prize on it for her. Hell, let's just throw in her missing education and position as top DP reporter in there before the show ends. Clark being head over heels in love with her by then should be easy as pie. I think the garage door on the castle should be reserved especially for that one.

I'm slightly confused by a comment such as this. Why is it that if people say they watch the show for Chloe there is a big upset? Some have already said they watch to see the progression of Lois and Clark, others like Jimmy, while others eagerly await the evil nature of Lex...still, some await Lana to become who she will be in the comics.
Lexana has gotten more screentime in the past few episodes, more than the hero himself...and because one person shares his opinion about why he is thankful, all of a sudden this show becomes all about Chloe?..since when? She has been toned down since Sneeze and Wither, and not because one person wants to watch her means the show is about her. Actually, Smallville can easily change its name to the "Lexana show", "Lollieville" or "GreenArrowville".
Even though Smallville is related to Superman, TPTB have said time and again that it is NOT a superman show..it is a Clark Kent show...and since no one else has dared to venture into the young life of Clark Kent, and have only repeated the "mythos" characters over and over again, then yes, these "non-iconic" and "non-mythos" characters do in fact have a place in the establishment of a NEW mythos created by Smallville...the mythos of Clark Kent.
Anyone else who tries this after Smallville will most likely try to copy the characters that Smallville has built. I love the Superman mythos too..but if we look beyond that, we will see that perhaps Smallville has done a great thing by creating a new mythos of young Clark Kent, and adding more background to the already established mythos. If we think about it this way, then EVERYBODY has a place.
I am thankful for all characters. We all watch the show for different reasons....thats why Smallville has so many fans.

I think this season is going great. I agree with everything mentioned in the article (except for maybe Mionel, that's just weird).
*I love how Clark's character is growing and I'm sure they'll focus on him again by the second half of the season.
*The spoilers are so exciting. "Justice" and "Hydro" sound like episodes I definitely wouldn't want to miss for any other show.
*The actors are wonderful. They make an amazing cast and they fit their characters perfectly. They grow better each season. I enjoy watching them all (Tom Welling, Michael Rosenbaum, Erica Durance, Annete O'Toole, John Glover...) They're all great.
In the end, I'm just thankful for Smallville. It is my favorate show and I hope it'll continue to deliver til the end. I'm seriously hoping for a seventh season and I think it's important for the show that it doesn't end this year. The characters still have more growing up to do and there's so much more to tell in this story and the end could be perfect if they're careful in writing it.
I do have a few complaints but I have faith in this show and I'll just wait and see how the characters grow up to be their future selves (Mainly: Clark, Lex and Lois) The focus should be on them now more than any other character.

Thankful? Heh. You should be thankful that people are still watching the show.
HA! ITA.
The only thing that I'm thankful for with Smallville is Chloe - one of my favourites on TV. Allison Mack is terrific and at te moment she and John Glover are the only reasons for me to continue watching this 'all-about-Lana' nonsense.
Posted by: Silence | November 25, 2006 8:18 AM
I love Smallville. It's my favorate show. And I don't want it to end especially not where it is at right now. There a lot of things that are disappointing this season. Like Clark being reduced to a secondary character. And Lex! I used to love to watch Lex. He was the most interesting character on the show during the first 3 seasons but now everything he does is tied back down to Lana. I hope the reason Lex and Clark finally become enemies has NOTHING to do with Lana Lang. Because that would be a huge disappointment after all these years. Lana Lang is a character that could've had a good story line on the show but her character has been ruined. She needs to stop jumping from one relationship to another. Frankly, I think she has no place on the show right now and Clark needs to get over her. I would like it if they form a friendship and she knows his secret without any angst and with no romantic feelings between them. It's been dragged out for 5 seasons and it's getting old and frustrating. But now that she's pregnant with Lex's baby, I have no hope for her character.
Now about what I am thankful for:
-I'm thankful for Tom Welling playing Clark Kent. He's a joy to watch and he's perfect for the part. I like the way his character is progeressing this season. He really is becoming more like Superman. He's finally maturing and that's what's sad because it's like he's not the star of the show anymore. The show is dominated by Lexana and Oliver Queen. I really like that Green Arrow is on the show and I know that he's leaving soon, so I'm not complaining. I hope they keep up the good work on Clark's development and remember that he's the reason we watch and not Lana and her relationship with Lex- which I'm getting tired of. It's making me feel like I'm watching a soap opera and not a show about Clark Kent (soon to be superman) and Lex Luthor (soon to become the most famous villain in comic history).
-I'm also thankful for Lois Lane being in the show. She's always been my favorate character and Erica Durance plays her so well. She's bossy, smart, confident and beautiful but also there for Clark, whether to comfort him or annoy him: everything Lois Lane is supposed to be. But I wish she wasn't so wasted. They've brought her in from season 4 and she's done nothing through that season and the next. I understand that the restrisctions on her character needed to be lifted first but when they finally did, they light switched her character into being suddenly passionate about journalism. I didn't buy the whole "Barn Door Epiphany" thing. But aside from that, I like how they're focusing on her and her journalistic career right now. That's going in the right direction and I hope they show us how she becomes the award winning journalist in the future. She is a HUGE part of the Superman story as much as Clark and Lex are. So now that she's been brought into the show, her story needs to be told with as much care. The show needs to be about her as well. So give Erica more episodes than the 13 she's signed for.
-I'm also thankful for the dynamic Lois has with Clark. They're funny when they're together and their bantering was always fun. But now they need to move past that because it has been more than two years. Sometimes it's hard to believe that they will get married someday. Smallville has changed a lot of the things from the mythos and the relationship between Clark and Lois is one of them. They need to show us their journey and how they came to fall in love. In the movies, Clark loves her at first sight. It's different on Smallville which is good, so we can see how that love came about. Love at first sight isn't as believable or as interesting as watching it progress and grow into what it's supposed to be. So don't ruin Clois like you've done Clana. They've been dropping hints all through the past 2 years and we're getting tired. I'm very excited about the kiss in "Hydro" and although I want to watch them take it slow without any more light switches, it sounds like fun and I hope it's not a cop-out kiss. I hope something comes out of it, like for example have Clark realize some feelings but be in denial. He can start looking at Lois differently this season. Then maybe next season we can see what comes out of it. They can grow closer and that's another step towards Clark's destiny. A very important one too.
-Another thing about Clark, he has to start showing even a little interest in journalism too. Atleast take up a few classes or something. How will he ever get into the Daily Planet this way.
-I'm thankful for episodes like "Justice". I haven't seen it yet but it sounds great!! Having all Clark's superhero firends get together and fight along side eachother is something I think a lot of people really want to see. It's the first glimpse at the Justice League and it's one of the best ideas they've come up with for Smallville! The characters already intoduced are so much fun to watch and they all bring a different side out of Clark and it's nice to see how he affects them too. And the Martian Manhnter from the previous episode was so cool! I hope he comes back!
I do hope the episode isn't rushed though. Smallville has a lot of filler episodes, so instead of that, why don't they have two-parters. There's a lot to see that doesn't need to be cut or rushed through in a scene. That would be wasting the characters and the story. Like for example, "Zod". That was a really good episode that felt rushed. I like how episodes like "Exile" in season 3 was continued in the next episode "Phoenix". We got one of the best fight scenes between Kal and Jonathen Kent and it was a thrill to watch. But the fight between Zod and Clark wasn't half as good. It went by so quickly but it was still good yet could've been better.
So I hope "Justice" won't be rushed.
-I'd also like to see how the suit was made. Where they got the material and if Martha will be the one to make it or if it'll be different. They could get into that or have Clark try on a costume once (not the actual one) just to see where the idea came from and how he feels about it.
*spoiler* I like that he's going to be disguised as the Green Arrow in "Hydro" and I hope they'll use it as a chance for Clark to see how he feels about having an alternate identity and saving people.
-I'm thankful that they brought the level 33.1 story back on. It's so interesting and it shows Lex as the bad guy. I hope they go into that more. It sounds like a good plot to use and it could open a lot of doors for other stories. I hear it has something to do with forming the Justice league in the "justice" episode. That sounds awesome! One of the reasons I think this season could be very good.
I know it sounds like I'm complaining a lot but I really do love this show and I would hate to see it end without dealing with all these things. It still has sooo much potential to be the show it's always promised to be in the eariler seasons. That's why I'm looking forward to the rest of this season. It sounds promising (except for the lexana baby part) and if they know what they're doing then next season (and maybe even this season) can be GREAT!

I am thankful and 'not' thankful to Smallville at the same time:
- I am thankful to Smallville because I still enjoy the show for many reasons. Though, it is not as great as it used to be.
- I am thankful for Clark, Lois, Martha, Jonathan, Lex and Lionel who are my all time favorite characters.
- I am thankful that Lana is not written as bad as she used to be, but I don't see a reason for her suddenly becoming evil.
Strangely, no one calls that one a 'lightswitch'?? Oh, right, she doesn't hinder any shipper, I got that!
- I am thankful for Clark making his own decisions. I guess the disasters called Sneeze and Whither taught the writers the valuable lesson that fans tune in for Clark Kent and not Chloe Chronicles.
- I am thankful for the episodes like Fallout where Clark showed the glimpes of his future iconic self.
- I am thankful for the cameo Tom Welling appearance in Static, where the only scene to like about him was when he chose to save innocent lives over Lexana and showed that he is really becoming Superman.
- However, I am sorry that Clark, Lois and Lex's characters are still far away from their iconic selves!
- Would TPTB give them the screentime and good stories to develop?
Or would it keep polishing the overrated characters that don't belong in the mythos while compromising the cannon characters of the mythos?
- And finally, I am not thankful for Lionel and Martha romance. Clark would be scarred, he would be lost when he learns this!
And if he accepts this, then all morals are lost on Smallville.

Think about Chloe and Lois as a crime-fighting duo - with Lois' martial arts moves and Chloe's smart, there wouldn't be a criminal left in all of Metropolis!
---
Lois has the brain, wits and martial art moves to do everything by herself! Arrow and Reunion are examples of that!
Not to mention the numerous examples from comic world, and my favorite LnC!
Lois Lane stands on her own until Clark Kent enters the picture! If there is any duo I am interested in watching right now, it is the comic book team of Lois and Clark!
I wouldn't mind if Chloe joins them though, I mean, there is Jimmy Olsen is comics, in Smallville we can have both Chloe and Jimmy helping out Lois and Clark!

From kurac's post;
First, Clark Kent is a secondary character to Lex and Lana.............
And not only that, but let him actually do some investigating without the shortcut Chloe. And no, Sherlock Holmes style doesn't count, Clark is an alien with superpowers - use them...........
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
Kurac, I so absolutely agree with what you have said.
Lexana could’ve been used as a tool to bring out the evil menace in Lex but it has merely made Lex the vulnerable lover boy. I think this is the weakest Lex Luthor of all times! In the end of season three, we saw the glimpses of evil Lex coming, but alas! It was dropped as off course ‘triangles’ are the most important part of the mythos, not Clark and Lex.
Watch Kevin Spacey’s masterpiece Lex Luthor in SR, you’ll know what I am talking about.
Smallville’s Lex – Sorry, I don’t see the menacing villain or a threat to society that Superman should fight.
If Clark fights this Lex, it would be for “Miss Lana Lang” and my sympathies would be on neither side, for this is not the battle of "Truth and Justice”
And I also absolutely second your ‘shortcut’ Chloe comment! In Rage, when Chloe was babbling about the ‘top secret’ research by seeing it on the Internet, I was like "What the hell?” High profile companies keep their top-secret research on Internet these days so even a high school student or a newspaper intern has an access to it??
How lame?
And NO! I did not sign in to watch ‘Sherlock Holmes’ or ‘Scooby and the gang’ or ‘The X Files’!! And no I don’t watch Smallville for ‘Clark and Chloe’ team because sorry, there is no “Chloe the ultimate brain” in the comics, yet, Clark is a hero.
I am not interested in seeing Chloe solving everything because I guess the ‘iconic’ Clark is supposed to be a journalist and an investigator himself. When they were in high school, it was okay and interesting. But how long will you keep recycling it?
And please, don’t come out and say that it is a ‘bashing’ post, because it isn’t. I have highlighted the facts about what Superman comics is and how Smallville is far, far away from the ‘icon’.
Who says Chloe isn’t a fun character? I like her, but please, don’t make this the journey of Chloe Sullivan, some fans still watch it for Clark Kent.
Al & Miles told us this was Superman’s journey so I watch this show for Clark Kent who will become Superman! But will this man become Superman? I don’t see that happening!
And I don’t see the super powers of Clark anymore! I guess he left them in the PZ!
Bring back the focus on Clark, then I will be thankful!

I am not really ‘thankful’ as Smallville still lacks the powerful storylines and above all, in the recent seasons, it is lacking the emotions that made the first two seasons so great!
Still, I am watching because of my two favorite stars Tom Welling and Erica Durance. They are my reason for watching this show and only the hope of seeing them develop as the iconic Clark Kent and Lois Lane is making me watch the show.
Superman is the story of Clark, Lois and Lex but unfortunately these are the three characters that are most underrated and ignored characters this season.
How can you come up with a strong Superman incarnation when you have such weak characterizations of Clark and Lex and a Lois who guest stars on the show?
Please work on these three characters, as they are the pillars of this story in all its incarnations. Look at the comics, look at Superman movies, look at Lois and Clark!! Look at the strong characterizations and then shape up Smallville!
I am not thankful but I am a loyal fan and I am obsessed with this show, I’ll keep watching in hope that someday the focus and center of the show will be Tom Welling a.k.a. Clark Kent, and someday, Smallville will re-live the magic of Lois and Clark and Superman movies!
Thanks!

Thankful? Heh. You should be thankful that people are still watching the show.
Actually I am thankful to the actors for their amazing performance, even though they have very little to work with. With exception for Steven De Knight who had the courage to face the angry fans, your writing team and their ideas are worn out.
You can pretty much disband the CGI department (which is awesome BTW), or hire them only for the first and the last episode of the season.
It is obvious that you have lost any idea what fans want out of this show.
First, Clark Kent is a secondary character to Lex and Lana. You're saying that he's becoming a man, which is true to some extent, because he is more mature I'll give you that, but he's not supposed to become only a man, but Superman. I guess what I want to say is that: let him use those freaking super powers for Christ's sake. But of course how can we go around that? Lets invent a crystal that will replace his superpowers. And yes, its that obvious why the S crystal exists, we can see right through you.
And not only that, but let him actually do some investigating without the shortcut Chloe. And no, Sherlock Holmes style doesn't count, Clark is an alien with superpowers - use them. Don't let him walk around (Static) like a moron who can't see 2 feet in front of him. My grandma WITHOUT her glasses is a better detective than him. You have to start developing him as a reporter and as a hero. Go back, watch Season 1 through Season 3 and learn about character development. Clark was more independent, less whiny and more proactive back then.
Nobody wants to watch Lana cry every episode, nobody wants to watch Lex Luthor becoming a whiny lover boy. Give them some material to work with, because they look pathetic. But of course, why should you? You can always use a light switch right?
Last year you lied to us with "Everything you wanted to see", now you're lying to us that this season is about "the rise of Lex Luthor." Puh-lease, you should've said "the rise of the Lex - the lover boy". I'm not sure that this Lex counts as a villain in the first place. He looks more like a victim. Tell you what, the victim angle worked in the first couple of seasons, but not anymore. Let him make a conscious choice to do harm, but this time make it on screen. Here's an example: the krypto freak in Static said to Lana that Lex is a very bad man because he experiments on people. Instead of that, can you actually show what Lex is doing to them? It's like Lex is bad, Lex is evil, but we don't get to see anything of that. Yeah, offscreenville rules. There's an idea for spin-off series. Do you understand what I was trying to say? Let me make it easier for you: ofcreenville should be on-screen!
Thanks for reading. I'll understand if you don't post this, but that's not my goal. My goal is for you to realize the mistakes you're making.

I'm thankful for:
1) Kristin Kreuk: A beautiful and talented actress who is one of the major reasons I watche the show.
2) Tom Welling: Same as Kristin, one of the major reasons for my watching.
2) Lana Lang: She's been a survivor, bit also compassionate and loving and who just wants some trust and love in return.
3) Clana: One of the mainstays of the show. Awesome chemistry and a beautiful relationship. Even if it isn't there today I'm thankful for it once having been there.

I am thankful for:
1.) That Clark, Lois and Lex are moving towards their destiny now.
2.) Introducing both Oliver and Jimmy to the cast. They are very entertaining and keep the show funny.
3.) Putting a new guest star on the show as much as possible. So far everyone whos been on here has done a good job.

I am very thankful for Smallville. I watched this show for 5+ years..and loved it all the way.
I'm not going to get into Clana, Clois or Chlark because this isn't the place for it...it will be good to have one Smallville post free of that for a while..because we know it will be coming up again in later episodes. But for now, this is what I am thankful for (or WILL BE thankful for):
1)Tom Welling. Mr Welling, like another poster said, I think you were born to play this role. Short of Christopher Reeves there is no one better who can capture everything about Clark Kent like you. Glad that you took the role..it would be nothing without you.
2)The character of Clark Kent. Makes us women believe that there are good looking, honest, well-mannered, family men out there again. Gives us hope. Anyone remember Clark Kent holding a baby???...cant think of anything sexier than that!
3) Clark without his shirt on. AMEN!
4)Sexy!Kal...AMEN AMEN!
5) Chloe/Allison and Lois/Erica...both wonderful women and characters..they will only become better if the writers would stop screwing them up! I will rise above the shipper wars and state that whoever Clark ends up with in Smallville, HE will be a lucky man...both are wonderful.
6)Most importantly: CHRISTOPHER REEVES. I love him and miss him deeply, and am absolutely thankful for his portrayal as Superman. Not only did he make us believe that a man could fly, but he made me believe that there were undercover heroes in this world, and allowed me to go into a world of fantasy when things in the real world were too hectic. Thank you Mr. Reeves.
IN LOVING MEMORY OF CHRISTOPHER REEVES. May the legend of Superman live on.

I will be thankful when lexana ends.
I will be thankful when clark tells lana his secret.
I will be thankful when clark and lana have an honest and angst-free relationship again.
Until then, I have nothing to be thankful for this season.

I thank Smallville for bringing Erica Durance to the show. I was a fed up fan, she brought me back. She is the most wonderful girl on the show. I instantly loved her chemistry with Tom, John Schneider and Annette.
I am thankful that she got to play such a good part in episodes like Arrow, Reunion and Rage. I love the Clark, Lois and Oliver trio.
I am thankful that TPTB gave her the recognition she deserved and stopped sidelining her as a third wheel on the show.
I am the greatest Tom Welling & Erica Durance fan. I simply love their chemistry and I love Smallville, these two are my only reason for watching.
Make me more thankful and bring her in all episodes, please.

I like Smallville but don’t see a reason to be ‘thankful’ as such.
I am a loyal fan since season one, still am, but now I find myself asking this, “Why do I watch it?”
May be I am a desperate comic book fanatic and I feel Tom Welling was born to play Clark Kent, but my question is, where is Tom Welling?
Oh, right, he is playing light, cameras, action, while Smallville goes downhill!
The major reason for this shows deteriorating quality is its fans. A show’s fans define it, they criticize the writers to make the show more perfect, but what do we have? “I love Clana”, “I want Chlark” “I want Clois”
Off course, not to mention Chloe fans desperate pushing of her character as some sort of perfect woman, bad mouthing Lois’s character, and the heated replies by Lois fans. These two groups hijack every forum and turn it into their battle while all other fans can go to hell! Smallville can go to hell! Who cares?
You can tell without coming to a Smallville forum that what type of discussion will be going on among the fans. Promoting their favorite girl as Clark’s eternal love and bashing the other two girls on the show.
Is that what we should be thankful of?
You guys can bring three more girls to the show and start more shippers and more people saying “I want..” but where do fans like me go?? “I want Clark Kent”
I think I will be thankful the day Smallville will become about Clark and not about “Who will he choose” or “Who will he kiss next”
But until then, I would give my realistic analysis of all the characters, without dubbing anyone as ‘perfect’ because no one is:
What do I say about Clark, he is not even there.
I love the comic’s version of Lois, but in Smallville, she is yet to make a mark because she is hardly there. The writers should’ve planned what they wanted to do with her before bringing her. Now that you have her, atleast do justice to the character, let her develop, instead of making her a mere eye candy. There are things about her that match her comic book self, but sorry to say, the determined, fiery and strong Lois Lane is missing.
Lana was ruined in the most pathetic way possible. I have nothing to say about this girl.
Chloe’s character has nothing new to offer. For past two seasons, she is the most stagnant character of the show. She is nowhere near as perfect as her fans describe her to be. Sorry to say, but she is not even recognizable as the lovable Chloe anymore. This is some lame, snobbish and one-dimensional look-alike, not the Chloe Sullivan that I used to love.
Lex Luthor is destroyed completely, without any chance of even reemerging again. The Lex I loved in the past four and a half seasons seems to have died and buried. I am disappointed, very, very disappointed with Lex Luthor. Michael is being wasted now, and I am sure he is aware of that too!
So sorry, but I have nothing to be thankful of, atleast not now!

My reason to be thankful to Smallville is that it made Tom Welling Clark Kent. We know that TW didn’t want to play this role initially, but thank you Tom, that you did. If you hadn’t become Clark Kent, I don’t think Smallville would’ve been so interesting as it is now. I guess it was destined. And I wish you all the success in the future.
My reason to be thankful to Smallville is that it brought Erica Durance as Lois Lane, who is my all time favorite version of Lois. Erica’s beauty and talent has given so much to this character. Lois is witty, beautiful and full of life.
I am thankful that Al & Miles gave her a bigger role to play this season.
I am thankful for Lollie relationship. It brought out the woman in Lois Lane. It showed how caring she could be, it showed her subtle side. This was the most well developed and wonderful relationship of the season. Awesome!
I am thankful for Clark and Oliver’s friendship. It was amazing. I am sad that Ollie is going to leave soon. I loved the way they both taught each other a lot. Both heroes stood for good and it also showed that no one has the principles and strength that Clark has.
I am thankful for Justin Hartley as Oliver Queen. I was never a fan of Green Arrow, but now I am, thanks to this gorgeous man.
I am thankful for Aaron Ashmore as Jimmy Olsen. Jimmy is the cutest and most gullible character of the mythos. Aaron played Jimmy perfectly. Please, please make him a series regular.
I am NOT thankful for taking away John Schneider. Jonathan Kent was a hero. I don’t know why Al & Miles took him away from us, and didn’t even give him a death that a hero deserved. I’ll always miss him, and I wish we had seen him become “Senator Jonathan Kent” instead of this undeserving end to his wonderful character.
Last but not the least, my reason for watching the show, my two favorite characters, Lois and Clark. I am thankful for the maturity and gradual growth that their characters have seen this season. I am thankful for bringing them closer as friends.
2006 is the year of Clois. Clark and Lois returned to the big screen after a long time, and Smallville showed the beautiful transition of the bantering Lois and Clark relationship into a deeper friendship..
Make it a year of Clois on Smallville too.. I’ll be more thankful..

i'm thankful for tom welling/kristin kreuk for their character role as clana(great work guys)given what you guys had to work with(the writing)but never the less clana stole my heart.as far makent, was she listening to any thing pakent was telling her about loinel(geezs)lex/lana,lets just put it this way(BAD DREAM)chloe is a smart girl, but she's not wonder woman(ok)jh aka green arrow if you are smart you would keep this guy on for some more episodes, because he is refreshing to the show.i know it's a lot of fans out there screaming for him to leave sv already.thats just because they want to see lois/clark together and he is in the way(so imature)but really this guys(jh)is good, besides his character keep clark on his toes.rather he hook up with lois or not.maybe it will be for the best that they don't,seeing that you guys are all hung up on the history(superman)by the way, whats with this show when it comes to couples anyway(you know)i love you but i can't be with you(boring)with that been said...... i would be really thanful if the other shipper's stop the insults/bashing of the clana fans, because if thats the only way you can get your piont across to be heard, then i feel for you.all the insults, and the bashing isn't showing who we are ,but who your are.it's ok to support what you beileve in(i'm all for that)but when you us bashing, insults and rudeness to display that, then the winner's become the loser's(get the pic)

I am thankful to AlMiles for listening to fans and tonning down Super Chloe into a more believable and likeable Chloe!
I am thankful to Smallville that Clark is now embracing his future!

I am thankful for everything on Smallville specially for Clark and Lois!
I am thankful for Chimmy, finally Chloe found someone who can return her feelings and matches her personality.
I am thankful for the way Martha is written.
I want more Clark, more Lois and more and more Clois than ever!
Bring together the number one team of Metropolis, I want Clois!!!

I am thankful to Smallville for making season six a Clois season, I can't wait for Hydro. I am a fan of Lois and Clark in all incarnations Smallville has the best Lois and Clark ever and I wish from now onwards Smallville focuses everything that is in the mythos including Lois and Clark coming together forever!

I am thankful for Clark Kent. Tom Welling is amazing. I love him.
I am also thankful for Lois Lane. Erica is awesome. I love her.
And then I love everything and everyone on the show, including Chloe, even though I am a die hard fan of Lois and Clark but I don't blame Chloe for her fans bitterness. I'll keep loving her till the show ends. She'll help her cousin and best friend become the greatest journalists of all times.
I am thankful for Smallville, it is my favorite show.
Posted by: Zareen | November 24, 2006 3:15 AM
I don't think there is any war between Chloe and Lois fans. It is merely a one sided bashing spree started by Chloe fans. The day they will understand that no one can claim Lois's place, and Chloe has her own place in the story, this bashing will end itself.
I am thankful to Smallville for Tom as Clark.
I am thankful to Smallville for Erica as Lois.
I am thankful for this wonderful story and I am thankful that Lex, Lana, Chloe, Martha and Lionel are all written great this season.
I love Smallville for Oliver and Jimmy too!

I am thankful to Smallville for making Clark follow his destiny this year and giving Lois Lane the place she deserved in the story!
I will be more thankful if Clark and Lois come together in Daily Planet as a team and show the canon romance instead of showing the moping Clark.
I will be more thankful if Erica Durance is brought for all episodes instead of only 13.
I am thankful for Clark, Lois, Lex, Martha, Lionel Chloe and Lana and even Jonathan.

I am thankful for Tom Welling being Clark Kent, Kristin Kreuk being Lana Lang and most of all for the amazing chemistry between Tom and Kristin. It's what capitivated me in the first place.

-I am thankful for Tom Welling and Kristin Kreuk's onscreen Chemistry. It's truly one of a kind, especially their romantic chemistry.
-I am Thankful for the wonderful SV cast. All the actor/actresses are wonderful...even Sam Jones III who I miss dearly.
-I am thankful for the opportunity to see Clark's life BEFORE Superman explored on the small screen even though it only stayed that way until the end of S3.
-I am Thankful for Clark and Lana's friendship in S1 and 2. I hope we will get to see it again only this time without secrets and lies---before the series is over.
-I am Thankful for Clana's romantic relationship, it was short lived but had some really wonderful moments like "Mortal" and "Hidden".
- I am Thankful for Christopher Reeve making his guest appearance as Dr. Swann when he was still alive. That man will always and forever be MY superman (RIP).
-I am Thankful for all the wonderful Celeb guest stars who have tried their best to suppost this series.
-I am Thankful that SV is almost over. I've been a loyal fan since 2001--but I'm definately ready for this show to come full-circle.
-I am Thankful for all the action and special effects
-I'm Thankful for JS's portrayal of Jonathan Kent on SV. He is truly may favorite JK on screen.

I am thankful that Chloe was spared the fate of finding a barn door interesting enough to jumpstart her career in journalism. No, that particular honour will forever belong to EDLois no matter where she ends up.

I would like to say that I am thankful for Smallville! It's true, I am, but not the Smallville that we are being shown now. What we are seeing now is a poor imitation of the Smallville we once knew and loved. Really it pales in comparrison to what the show was and could have been. This push by Gough/Millar to re write the Mythos is hurting the show and it's ratings. I don't understand why CW does not sit down with the gentlemen involved in the shows production and have a good heart to heart. The ratings for Smallville have basically been falling and over the next few episodes, should reach an all time low.
This wonderful story about the development of Clark into Superman has become so strange, that it should be called, "The Bizarro world version of Clark and his journey to become The Bizarro Man of Steel." To the executive producers and writers I would like to say the line from, " Back to the Future",So to Gough/Millar and CW Network...Hello is there anybody in there( in the Cranium-The place in which the Brain sit). What is wrong with you people...Look at the RATINGS. Guys something is seriously amiss. Turn it around. Yes, I know that Clark goes off to do training. Yes I know that he works at the Daily Planet and eventually marries Lois. But that won't be for another eight to ten years. Al Gough/Miles Millar, are you delibertly trying for the lowest ratings possible? Are you delibertly trying to see the show cancelled this season, because what I have seen so far is forcing people to watch something else, rather than endure another disappointing episode! The quality of the show is deteriorating exponentially!
Young fans really don't know any better. They don't recognize quality, because they really haven't seen it. T.V. today lacks quality. So they say that episode was great...I shake my head and say God help us.
The relationship between Lex and Lana for instance...It will help the show achieve it's lowest ratings. There is no Chemistry between those to characters. If you want my opinion...It's revolting. It is revolting because it departs too much from the Mythos and It separates the only two on the show who have any chemistry at all. Yes, Clark and Lana have chemistry. It's a joy to watch them together. They are the heart of the show. Take Lana off the show and you might as well pack it up and go home fellas. Because without her the show isn't worth watching!!!! None of the other actors/actresses can perform the way she does. She graces you story with good things. She adds PRESENCE. Presence can't be faked. You can show Lois's Cleavage all you want, but it won't improve the ratings! I like Kristin's her character even better than Tom Welling. The show is foolishly following a course of self destruction. A baseball team would bring out a new pitcher. A football team would bring in a new Quaterback. Any basketball team would bring in another point guard. Smallville needs to bring in new executive producers, writers and directors. The ratings will continue to fall unless a change is made! Gough/Millar is it worth it, just to push your own agenda. In my life I have seen good programing and bad programing and what Smallville is giving us is PITIFUL!
But remember as bad as the show is, without the incredible acting skills of Kristin Kreuk, this show will show an even more rapid decline!!! God help us!!!!!

I am OK with your #1, though really this Clark development hasn't been NEARLY as prominent as it should be. But I don't really know what to say about your 2,3&4 except perhaps "Huzzah-WHA??!!". Especially your #4, since I think Mionel is nothing short of an abomination. For lord sakes, Jonathen Kent just died less then a year ago, and Martha was already letting Lionel pant around her mere months following his death. What a horrible reflection on Martha as a person, wife and mother. As wonderful as AOT and JG are, and as much as I like them working together, romantic Mionel is just No!. And No!
In regards to #2, I think its a disingenuous statement. Of course we all enjoy seeing other heroes emerge, and seeing them interact with Clark. But that is a far cry from devoting episode after episode to *one* of these emerging heroes, and bestowing on this character traits that one most closely finds as traits of Clark Kent, i.e. bringing the JLA together, romancing Lois, rival of Lex Luthor. I believe few people have issues with visiting heroes-in-training. But what we've had with GA is something very different indeed.
As far as your #3, I don't know that I believe that this has been a particularly good year for any of the women, with the possible exception of Lois Lane since she got some character development that was lacking. The romance with Oliver I could've lived without since we've already seen Lois dating a member of the future JLA. In the future, are they going to sit around comparing notes with Superman? Chloe has not shined as brightly this year, IMO, and the romance with Jimmy is a noble failure. She looks like she's dating someones younger brother as a favor. And the less said about Lana's storyline, the better. Lana's pregnancy constitutes a good story? Really? Pass the crackpipe.
I still can't help but feel that somewhere along the way, this stopped being about Clark Kent as primary character on Smallville, and I think the show is suffering greatly for it. And this blog actually enforces my feeling that the CW might be one of the reasons for that.

I'm Thankful because the writers and producers keep ruin the show and doesn't care about the public opinion and how the show is getting boring every episode.
Also I'm thankful because the fights only last 5 seconds these season and the relationships the last 44:55 minutes left on the show.
I hope that the show gets better and interesting like the 3 first seasons.

I'm thankful for bringing Lois Lane to this show;
I'm thankful for making Clark and Lana move on (about damn time);
I'm thankful for the great development Lana has had this season (because let's face it, she was boooooooring);
I'm thankful for Michael Rosenbaun (he's the best Lex Luthor)
I'm thankful for Jimmy Olsen (he's so cute!);
I'm thankful for Chlimmy (yes, Chloe MUST move on);
I'm thankful for this wonderful sixth season;
I'm thankful for the amazing Clois hand-holding moment in "Zod" (because that was cute and I still grin when I watch it);
I'm thankful for all the wonderful scripts (even though we have some bad ones from time to time);
I'm thankful for Tom Welling, because darn, he's HOT);
I'm thankful for Erica Durance, she's the best Lois and an amazing actress(because she performs Lois Lane in a fun, charming, sexy, annoying, bossy, stuck up, rude and perfect way);
I'm thankful for the good episodes we had and for the major and surprising ones coming (;D)
I'm thankful for CW for making this show even better;
And finally, I'm thankful to Smallville, because it's just great and I never get tired of it.

I'm thankful for the Green Arrow, if it wasn't for him this season would be a total waste. They just need to make this guy a regular already! Every scene with him almost..just almost makes me forget about the bad Lana and Lex relationship.
I'd also be thankful if the show brought back Pete and just had Lana leave with the baby after finding Lex's darkside. She needs to just leave for good. At this point I'm even tired of Lex. When the show introduces a new cool villian like Brainiac they need to use him as much Lex. I mean what they did do with Brainiac last season was good stuff. Plus James Marsters was good in the role too even if the show didn't use his talent as much as they could've. Zod going in Lex's body was pretty dumb too. I've had enough of Lex without him playing Zod too.

everybody is coming on this blog thank al/miles for killing clana(thats a shame)if you didn't care about this couple that jumpstarted this show in the frist place, why are you still here(ENOUGH) keep your hatred in check about clana,do you guys know that a real person is playing this character, and i'm 100% sure it don't make her feel won't.all you guys can think about is how can you get rid of this character lana lang, without think that if lana goes kristin kreuk goes as well.so i wish that the fans will stop whinning about lana.this show is(was)about a superhero in the making, not the most hated.i just don't get where all the hate come from for this character(lana)no other than clark was in love with her,and you want your shipper to happen,so if you scream loud enough the producer's will get rid of her.what you are doing is fighting your only fears.you are not hurting anyones fanbase but your own, because clana is still here rather they are together or not.we all know who clark will end up with(comics/movies)what we didn't know how much he loved lana lang and you are i will ever change that fact.you can throw your insults/bashing all you want, but we beileve in clana.maybe it's time for you to beileve in your on shipper and stop trying to keep clana fanbase from raising again....... back to the topic.i'm thankful for getting a chance to see clana come to life on screen thanks to tw/kk(great chemistry)i would really be thanful if al/miles give us back our lana lang.

I am thankful for:
Tom Welling being Clark Kent
Kristin Kreuk playing Lana Lang
Annette O'Toole still being on the show
John Glover still being on the show
Metropolis
Smallville
Gotham City
The cutest little chemistry between Alison and Aaron and what they bring to Chloe and Jimmy
Justin Hartley playing the best guest superhero on Smallville so far
And no matter what is going on now, Clark Kent and Lana Lang will end up best friends as adults just like they are in the comics, cartoons, movies, and the Superboy TV show! It's Canon! It's gonna happen!
And that's what I am most thankful for:)

I'm thankful for Smallville because...
1. It has really rejuvenated the Superman story for me. I've always thought of Superman as the muscle but this show has made him a person for me in a way no other media has.
2. The hero's/villian's journey. This is what attracted me to the show and this is what I'm looking forward to in terms of payoff by series end. Clark Kent and Lex Luthor, how do they become the infamous characters we all know so well.
3. Family. Jonathan and Martha Kent have been the heart and soul of Smallville for me a long time!
4. Intrigue and Action. I love the special effects, the scifi, the comic book elements and John Glover.
5. Other relationships... Of course Clark and Lois tops my list... but there's also Clark and Chloe's friendship, Clark and Oliver's budding friendship, Chimmy which is the yummy romance between Jimmy and Chloe... Lois and Oliver have a cool romance going too...
Smallville is a lot of fun. There are low points... but the high points make it all worth while! I'm so thankful for this show. :) It's my fave show right now. :)

I agree with all those points....except for Lana's pregnancy being compelling. It is dull and soap opera-ish and has alienated a lot of the girls who used to look up to her.
I am thankful Chloe and Lois are around to balance Lana's whininess. The show would be much better without Lana.

1- Clark Kent/Tom Welling. Brilliant job by the actor, firstly. Secondly, Clark as a character is truly one of the most lovable and affable ones on telly.
2- Lex Luthor/Michael Rosenbaum. Again, great job in acting. And the character is intense and complex.
3- Lois Lane/Erica Durance. Erica nails the part and is a big part of the reason for why the character is loved. A great portrayal, interesting and different.
4- Chemistry between actors. Whether it is the Clark/Lois dynamic, or the Clark/Martha mother/son relationship, or indeed the unparalleled Clark/Lex chemistry, it's all great to see.
5- Poweful season premieres and finales.
6- All the Superheroes that have made an appearance thus far.

I'm thankful that Clark and Lana is finally over for good. I hate the way Smallville has portrayed Lana and her relationship to Clark and I'm thankful that both of them are moving on. Hopefully this sees some real, meaningful and separate character development for the pair of them.
I'm thankful that Justin Hartley has such a great sense of humour and that he portrays his character so well. I'm thankful that, at least for a little while, his relationship to Lois provided us with a portrayal of a fun and realistic romantic relationship. I'm thankful that Clark is going to start falling in love with Lois, and hope that Smallville do it in a way that is both plausible and fun to watch.
I'm thankful for Erica Durance. For the past couple of seasons she has really lit up every episode she has appeared in; she provides a real sense of humour and takes on roles that other characters have never convincingly been written into. I'm also thankful that Alison Mack is a fantastic actress and that, despite passing differences I have with Chloe, I treasure her addition to the show.
I'm thankful for Annette O'Toole, full stop.

Jim is right, the show has went from bad to worse since Jonathan Kent died. Lex and Lana is always hard to watch. Them kissing, making love and saying they love each other just makes me itchy more than it makes me say aww. The last episode said we wouldn't believe the last 5 minutes. Do we get Lex telling Lana he knows Clark's secret. Do we get him reveiling that he has a comic book character heald captive ? Do we get anything cool at all ? No we get Lex asking Lana to marry him with more salt poured on the wound.
Am I gonna tune into see her answer ? No, Hell no. I'm going to tune into see the Martian Manhunter, The Green Arrow or Clark finally tell off Lex and Lana. I don't care if he needs Red K to do it as long as he does it.

Well even though i think supernatural is THE BEST show on the cw, i agree that smallville is really getting better by the week as well. the drama is really good but i'd like to see lana gone but thats a whole new topic, well anyways Keep up the good work i will continue to watch smallville.

i think that everyone is being retarded when they say that lana is played out she and clark are supposed to be together and i think that chloe and lois are great characters on the show .. so why are people feuding about them? anyways smallville is probably the greatest show i have ever watched

I'm thankful that Smallville even exists. I'm thankful that Lois is in Smallville. I'm thankful that Erica Durance and Tom Welling were cast in this show otherwise I'd never have known about them. I'm thankful for Shelby. I'm thankful for Oliver Queen as played by Justin Hartley.

Great idea, Claire. This way we can all say positive things about the show without getting negative. :)
Reasons why I'm thankful for Smallville:
1) Clark. A terrific character, whose flaws i enjoy. But he's always heroic when it counts.
2) Lois. She's a wonderfully dynamic character, and i love her journey.
3) Clark/Lois. My favourite relationship on the show.
4) The SFX. Are almost always top notch.
5) A really interesting take on the Clark and Lex relationship.
6) The actors. The show has got a terrific bunch. No matter what we think of the characters themselves, everybody does a mostly good job with what they're give. So major props to Tom Welling, Michael Rosenbaum, Kristin Kreuk, Erica Durance, Allison Mack, Annette'o Toole and John Glover. You guys rock!
:)

I'll be thankful for #1 when Clark is back as the main character and star of his own show, and when we again have episodes that focus primarily on him and his journey, instead to having him relegated to the B or C plot.
As for #2, I'll be thankful when we have a new hero that appears for one or two episodes just to impact Clark's journey and then leave, without taking much needed screen time away from the characters of the show, particularly from the real hero of Smallville, the one this show is supposed to be about, Clark Kent.
I'll be thankful when SV is again the show I used to love, and that means ending the badly handled soap opera that Lexana is, stop making everything revolve around the badly written character of Lana Lang, stop making Chloe the source of all knowledge, stop making Lex pathetic and start making him the real villain of the story, make Lois much more endearing and much less annoying and stop writing Martha so blatantly out of character sometimes.
Those are my wishes. Thank you.

I'm thankful for having Smallville come into my home every week. It's my one hour of time to not worry about kids, laundry and etc. Yes, there are terrible episodes and sometimes the plot or story direction is not what I want, but I'm greatful that I still have a show that I can be passionate about every week (likes or dislikes). I still love the original format of Smallville. We get to see Clark Kent before he becomes Superman. I love that Lex Luthor was his friend and eventually his foe. I love that the story shows how parents can damage or nuture their children by the things they say and do. I love how Clark and Lex are a product of their parents. Yes....I am truly thankful for the writers, cast, crew, producers, network, and etc. for providing this 40+ year old mom an outlet every week to enjoy her favorite superhero....SUPERMAN!!! Thank you Smallville!!!

SMALLVILLE IS THE BEST SHOW EVER AND I HOPE ONE DAY I CAN MEET EVERYONE IN SMALLVILLE
Posted by: RANDY | November 22, 2006 9:01 PM
i disagree with everything in #1.
clark kent took 5 steps back this season and he has become a guest star on his own show.
and all that "juicy" material is hurting the show.

I'm thankful for Lois as well and don't know why fans voted for her and Chloe the most for who should leave Smallville next. Erica Durance is the best Lois in awhile. She has the toughness and spunkyness that Lois lacked in Superman Returns.
Anyway I think you got into the show now because you didn't know everyone from the start. I mean they teased a Clark and Lana relationship and when they put them together they just had Clark afraid to have sex. Then they cheaped it more by having Lana think she can trust Lex more than Clark. I mean it's pure crap. How many episodes has Lex lied about not being part of something bad when he really was ? Plus Lana believes his lies and gets off his case a lot easier than she ever got off Clark's. It's just sad the direction the show went in since I was always a big fan of the show.
The parts that are good in each episode are outshadowed by too much Lana and Lex or Clark complaining about Lana and Lex. Plus I hate Lex or Lana kicking Clark out of mansion constantly. I'd love another Red K episode just to see Clark toss Lex next time Lex tells him to get lost.
When the show has something good like Brainiac/Doctor Fine it should take the ball and run with it. It's sad they didn't know how to use him or Zod but keep coming up with ideas how to use Lana. When they should've addmitted long ago that there's nothing to do with her that they haven't already done. Her pregnant and with Lex is simply awful.

I am thankful that Seasons 5 and 6 did not involve French witches, but scores of neat superheroes in the making.
Forget that for now, and think about how cool it is that we've got such strong, resourceful (and yes, gorgeous)
Isn't Lana the exception? She is a notorious boyfriend-hopper who exploits Clark's feelings and pretty much steps on everyone around her? If strength is perpetual concussions, and resourcefulness is hooking up with handsome and rich men, then I don't know what else to say other than "Thank god, at least Lana has cute going on for her."

SMALLVILLE, as a SciFi/Fantasy, Action/Drama, is the best genre series on TV right now. Smallville & Battlestar Galactica are ranking at the top together IMHO. I have no complaints about what they're doing with the show. They're giving us something different with the new relationships developments. I agree that Chloe should always be there, because she is so integral as Clark's emotional anchor and confidant. They are a team. Clark once told Martha that she was his soul, so she keeps him rooted in his humanity. The progression of Clark becoming Superman is being realized as Clark becomes more mature and aware of how much he is capable of contributing to the cause of justice. Just as Clark says, he's responsible for the escapees from the 'Zone', and should rightfully do whatever he can to stop whatever damage they will inflict. That'll be about half the stories for the rest of this season. As for Lexana, so what? It seemed inevitable to me. How long it'll last, we'll just have to wait and see. Both Lex & Lana are unsatisfied, sad, & lonely people. Let them have each other. Only, let Clark be 'delivered' from his fierce attachment to Lana. We fell in love with Clark's parents and how they loved & protected him. Especially his relationship with his dad, Jonathan, who was the rock Clark needed to raise him. That's why we all feel his loss so deeply. But, that kind of loss was a difficult and necessary lesson/experience and trial that Clark needed to endure to grow. Clark would probably never face his mortality in that manner, but experienced it through Jonathan's. As for Batista's guest appearance in 'Static', I'd never heard of him before this. I intend to be SUPPORTIVE to Smallville until this story's completed. I trust them to continue to deliver, most of the time, interesting, character-driven stories and great acting. The super FX are just a side dish to add spice to the stories. I hope for and expect that, so I'll be a Loyal SV fan until it's done.

It seems to me that the blog is beginning to subscribe the notion that if they say if enough times, it must be true. Like Al/Miles and Co chanting over their Lana-Luv scripts: Everyone must love Lana. Unfortunately, it doesn't work.
What am I thankful for?
1. The End of Clana. Nothing contributed more to Clark *not* growing through five seasons of Lana's whining about secrets and lies and secrets and lies and secrets and lies....and the list goes on. It drove me away and season 5 and Vessel brought me back with renewed hope, only now? Lex loves Lana is the show's new slogan. And sadly, there doesn't seem to be any escape for Lex. This relationship intrigued me in the beginning before it was reduced to nothing more than another way for the show to crow about how much Lana is loved. Now, Lex is ridiculed and pitied for this storyline.
2. Martian Manhunter is only on for one episode. Green Arrow has forever soured me on superhero guest stars. I caught them through past season's eps when I was intrigued to see Clark interact with fello future JL members. Green Arrow being forced down my throat turned me off them completely - as did this network's perception that he is their next Golden Boy aka star of their next Superhero show. I cannot wait for his last episode. May Batman stay far away from this show lest they ruin him too.
3. Strong women? Absolutely. Each in their own way and most especially Chloe, Martha and EDLois (barn doors notwithstanding). Lana remains the weakest link through five seasons yet continues to be propped up by storylines/boyfriends/FOTWswith obessions in possessing her - that just don't work in an attempt to make her stronger - if they write that everyone loves her, then obviously fans must too - we must have not got that memo. The Lana-kung fu? Where did that go?
4. I most thankful for A'OT and JG and their immense talent in imbuing this strangest of all relationships with something magnetic and interesting. I can't wait to see where it goes.

Wow... let's try and be positive?
As a new lover of Smallville, I actually LIKE Lois's character AND Chloe's character and I think the show has definetly gotten better. I tried it out in season 1, then again in season 2 and it couldn't kep me. This season has me always coming back for more... so i am thankful for that!
I am also thankful for Green Arrow! I love him! And I hope they bring on Batty... he's my very favourite super hero out there!

Things to really be thankful for... 1.) The Phantom Zone episode
2.) The Green Arrow
3.) The Martian Manhunter
4.) Chloe "she's sweet and and not mean a breath of fresh air compared to the annoying and played out Lana"
Things not be thankful for 1.) The Lana and Lex relationship is awful and fans have expressed this. Yet the writers just push them in our faces even more this season and even Clark is used less then them. Lana Pregnant with Lex's baby "pukes!", Lex asking Lana to marry him...."pukes more!"
2.) The Lana and Lex relationship is awful as it is yet the writers are going to put Martha with Lionel on top of it ?? I wish the show just killed Lana off instead of Jonathan because the show has gotten pretty bad since he died.
3.) Clark's fights with actual tough aliens "like the one played by Batista" have been way way way too short. I mean his fights with meteor freaks have even lasted longer. News Flash!, I watched the episode to see Batista...not that lame nom-stop Lex and Lana drama we got instead. When people voted on the poll for who they want to see leave Smallville next I have no clue why they chose Chloe. She's sweet and the show would be nothing but people arguing with non-stop drama if she ever left. Lana walking around like she's rich and independent is simply annoying. I mean Lex is her sugar daddy. In Static she probably missed his chack book more than she missed him!
I always loved Smallville but please just kill this Lana and Lex relationship and give us more action and fantasy instead. Save the Show! and quit killing it! Lana isn't all that. She's just supposed to be a girl Clark had a crush on when he was a teenager. So quit writing about her like she's a goddess...heck just quit writing about her period.
