Golden Observations

Allison Mack
This morning former 7th Heaven-er Jessica Biel, along with Rosario Dawson and Matthew Perry, announced the noms for the 64th annual Golden Globe Awards. We like this particular awards show because a.) they are less stuffy than the Oscars and b.) they celebrate both television and film.

BUT... this time around our favorite shows on The CW didn't get any notice. Are you mad? Do you even care? Hmm. While we are skeptical of what the Hollywood Foreign Press thinks (who are they, anyway?), it would be nice to see Jensen or Allison or Lauren get up on the podium. Maybe next year?

Like many people seem to think, Jensen and Kristen are both amazing actors who definitely deserve some recognition for their outstanding performances. Jensen gets better each time I see him, and he has created such a complex character while Kristen delivers the emotional and the witty scenes with just the right emotions. What is wrong with the academy?

Jensen definetly desveres an award. He's probably the best actor on tv right now. He desveres recognition. His portrayal of Dean is amazing! Maybe if he recieved the awards he deserves, he would be recognised by everyone and get to act in more movies!

Two actors in my eyes I,ve been given the snob...one in the person of Jensen ackles and the other is Kristen Bell.
Jensen is probably one of the most underated actor of his genration...and really most aren't as good as him. Most get all the recognition, because teen think they're hot. Well, and actor abillity is not is in physique only. Jensen roves that everytime. i always tought a great actor could convey any emotion with his eyes, if you don't see it in the eyes its because he's not as good as you tought. .. But how many time has Jensen made us believe in what Dean was feelin in a simple look. i can't even count them anymore. Jensen should definitely have bee in this year nominees

As for Kristen bell, no other girl on the Cw, as much as i love a lot of them, has as strong acting abillities as she does. She nail witty and smartass Veronica. she's a gift to the network and really she to can convey emotions through her eyes. No other female actress really hold a show together like she does and as welll as some actors who have made there name for years now. Kristen is a Gem.

I agree with most of you people. Jensen certainly deserves a GG nomination. 3 think he's the best actor on television right now. He's a phenomenal actor and he potrays dean so well, I can't think of another actor who could do that so convincingly as he does. He's just superb. And I hope things change in the future and the award academies stop honouring bogus shows, well some of them anyway.
Lauren graham has been ignored for a long long time. Its really not fair. I think she deserves a nod for her outstanding work on Gilmore. And what do award people do? They nominate a crap actress like Ellen pompeo. I mean the woman can't act!! She's always smiling like an idiot when she is supposedly saying a very serious dialouge. And michael Rosenbaum is a good actor but truly the best would definitely have to be Jensen Ackles. So you see the academy people are blind! They wouldn't know phenomenal acting if it bit them in the nose!!

I honestly don't know what most of this Smallville discussion is doing here. Nothing about that show deserves awards recognition anymore, except possibly for visual effects. Any potential the series had for a compelling young Superman story was thrown away when Al and Miles decided to make Lana Lex's plaything just to push another Godforsaken 'triangle'. The very concept of 'Lexana' is the spawn of Satan.

Supernatural is very enjoyable, and Jensen and Jared both handle their roles admirably. That show has only improved with time, but it, too, is not the best hope for this network to get recognized.

Gilmore Girls is past its prime, and is floundering its way toward the end. Even though Lauren Graham may have been deserving of some recognition in the past, the characterization of Lorelei this season has suffered along with most of the rest of the show. It needs to be wrapped up.

The absolute gem in The CW's crown (and the best hope for future critical respect for the network) is Veronica Mars. Kristen Bell is a treasure, and carries her show as capably as the most experienced leading men/women in the business. The rest of the ensemble is usually outstanding, too, most notably Jason and Enrico. It's no wonder why there is always such critical praise and fanatical support of Veronica's romantic and family relationships. The chemistry in the cast simply works - superbly. And it has always been - since the pilot - one of the smartest and most witty shows on television.

Regardless of some online fans' mild dissatisfaction with the tone of this season compared to S1 and S2, the show is far and away the very best thing The CW has to offer, and any show or individual acting award nominations should be thrown Mars's way.

Erica fans hate Chloe/AM, I found out the hard way. I'm ashamed to be a clois fan, I even got banned for even liking Chloe in one of their boards.

Allison Mack and Michael Rosenbaum are very deserving of a GG award. They have talent pouring out of them.

An actors job is to portray whatever script that is put before them. Lauren Graham has done a tremendous job. LG has transcended into Lorelai so well that it is hard to tell were Lorelai begins and Lauren stops.

What is with all the rude comments about Allison Mack? Is it because you dislike her as an actress or because you hate her character? Seriously though, I think people should stick with the positive and stop with the bashing.

Personally, I think AM does a fantastic job and definitely deserves a GG nom, though they haven't given her much to work with this season. I also think John Glover, MR, and Annette 'O' Toole are all worthy of a nomination.

Other CW actors that deserve recognition are Jensen Ackles (probably the most worthy) and Lauren Graham.

Jensen definitely deserves the recognition. He's the best on The CW right now and yeah I'd put him up against any of current GG nominees in terms of acting talent and charisma. He's also a really smart actor who can give Dean layers and subtext even when the script gives him almost nothing to work with. I've been blown away by how well he's managed to keep Dean sympathetic even when the writing makes him look like a pyshcopath. Croatoan I'm looking at you!

I think Jared is certainly getting better but his performance is still uneven. There are times when he really shines but at others when he can't quite sell it for me. Maybe in a couple of years he'll have improved enough to deserve a nod or two.

Micheal Rosenbaum is also very good and he deserves an award just for delivering some of his crap lines with a straight face.

I think Kristen Bell is also mostly excellent but I've found her recent performances kind of uneven. She seemed to really bring it in season 1 but 2 and 3 have been less convincing at times. Especially with some of the over-the-top hammy humour. Cringe-worthy.

Allison Mack is fine but I've never found her to be that exceptional an actor. Of course putting her in scenes with KK, ED and TW by comparison makes her look like Meryl Streep.

Jensen Ackles, of all the actors on the CW, is the most deserving of a GG. He is an incredible actor who captures the audience and portrays his characters so damn well. This guy has IT!

Allison Mack and Jensen Ackles are both deserving of nods come award season. Right now, I'd say JA has the edge since he's got excellent writing in Supernatural, while the calibre of writing in SV continues to fall.

Allison Mack does not deserve a GG, what for super clevage. Smallville and the Golden Globes shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence let alone have AM be nominated. Jensen and Lauren maybe, to be honest most of the shows on the CW suck anyways.

Allison for a Golden Globe? Uh, I'm not so sure.

Lauren? 1000% yes! Someone needs to give her an Emmy!

golden globe? haha you're kidding right? Alison? haha. John glover..is good.

Tom and Kristin need some nods for sticking to the crap that is smallville. They have nothing good to work with, yet they do a pretty darn good job, especially together.

Both Jensen and Allison are great actors...love them... but if i have to pick one actor , my choice would be Michael Rosenbaum. he deserved a nomination! He is such an amazing actor.

pd: here we are talking about the acting. if you like the character or not...it doesn´t matter.

I'd love for Allison Mack, Michael Rosenbaum and John Glover to get nods for their work on Smallville.

Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and Jeffery Dean Morgan are more than deserving for their work on Supernatural.

Sadly, not if they're on this network though :(

Jensen Ackles is by far the best actor on the CW (and probably the whole of the television universe!) and definitely deserves SOME recognition. As a Supernatural fan I'm blown away week after week (yes, even weeks with reruns) by his portryal of Dean, and I know I'm not alone here. Someone behind these awards shows should wake up soon and realize that there's a new network with a fast-rising star who deserves recognition for every episode of Supernatural.

****You're kidding.

SuperChloe deserves WHAT? HAHAHAHA.

I threw up in my mouth after reading this.*****

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHH

Totally agree that's funny thinking that Allison deserves a GOLDEN GLOBE nomination pleeaaasseeee NOONE in Smallville deserves one (maybe JG ot Annette or Schneider when he was there) and I think some of then are REALLY good actors...

For an Emmy maybe for a GOLDEN GLOBE this must be funniest thing I've ever heard since someone suggested Kate Bosworth for and OSCAR for SR hahahahhahahahahh.
I LMAO when I read this...

Lauren OTOH totally deserve it she has been ignored for a long time but Allison Mack pppwaaaahhhhhhhahah hahahahhahahah my ribs are hurting.

****Are you Allison Mack's friend? Because you talk so much about her.. It's very boring! Smallville is about Clark Kent not Chloe Sullivan.*****

Agree with this too, finally some brains are aroud here....next time we will be hearing "Allison mack for a grammy....why she wasn't nominated?? she totally desers it"

I will totally agree with TOM for an Emmy for a Golden Globe I don't think so.

allsion macks deserves a golden globe award for what, taking over the star(tom welling)role as the hero(superchloe)i guess the great acting that the other cast(like)the real star of the show tw(clark)john(pakent)kristin(lana)michael(lex)john(loinel)annette(makent) are just guest star, and they don't deserve a nod for making this show what is today(not what it have become, because it's pretty bad)if allsion deserves an award for playing superchloe,so do ed,ed and eddy(cartoon charatcers(rolling eyes)

I think Allison has deserved a Golden Globe/Emmy nomination for years now. Michael Rosenbaum and John Glover too.

I wish they would take WB (and now CW) show into consideration. its really unfair to these wonderful actors.

Jensen is fantastic in the role of Dean Winchester. I'd love for him to get some recognition.

There is no doubt in my mind that both Jensen and Jared deserve nominations for their performances on Supernatural. I would hold J&J's performance against any of the nominees for best actor and probably find most of the current nominees coming short in comparison; I'm not sure any other actors have had to play a more complex or challenging than Jensen and Jared - especially with the emotionally intense season that this has been, and J&J have truly stepped up and hit episode after episode out of the park!!! I mean look at the absolutely intense end of Everybody Loves a Clown, or heartbreaking confession by Dean in Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things or overwhelmingly emotional clinic scene in the latest episode, Croatoan! Both actors have come so far and have taken their audience (well at least have taken me) on an emotional rollercoaster this season that still leaves me reeling when I think about it; if acting like that is not worth a nomination, then I'm not sure what is!!!

Jensen Ackles definately deserves an award. He's managed to take a character and bring such life into him, that I really expect Dean Winchester to be real. I read where someone said he sucked on Smallville, well dear that was the writing not the actor. He was great in DA, giving Alec the attention they probably never expected that character to get. This guy's acting is awesome. I don't watch Kristen Bell, but from what I've seen, she's ok, not great, but not bad. Allison from SV is a good actress and I think she should get a nod.

Oh, and as for more viewers to get an award, I thought awards for given for quality, not quantity. If so, Jensen definately should get one because as far as acting, he's one of the best tv actors I've seen in a long time.

I would say Jensen and Kristen Bell both deserve GG nods. They're both brilliant young performers who have created fascinating and compelling characters who really carry their respective shows. IMHO of course.

To be fair, I've rarely watched Smallville so I can't make a fair observation about Ms. Mack's worthiness of a Golden Globe nom. I'll agree that Ms. Graham hasn't had decent material on her show for at least a season. How could anyone make voluntarily marrying that milquetoast Christopher believable? Jensen Ackles? Yes, he's deserving. If Supernatural were more popular and got more exposure, I believe he might have gotten a nod. That last scene he did with Jared from "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things" was astonishing. So many actors overdo a character's grief with histrionics. Ackles so expertly conveyed Dean's despair over his belief that he caused his father's death that I cried. Television doesn't often do that to me. I cried because Dean blames himself for a death that doesn't begin to be his fault. Jensen makes me upset that his character would do that to himself. That's acting.

I love Jensen, but I don't think that he is Golden Globe worthy- yet. The show needs to pick up a few million more viewers. I think that the nominees are good. Allison Mack, however does not deserve one. Kristin Kreuk is nice, but I haven't really seen her acting range outside of Smallville. Now I think that Kristen Bell, should get a Golden Globe.

NO. Claire is not the one who talks about Allison alot...what makes it seem that there has been much talk about her (or rather her character) is because all Claire does is post a SV write up for the fans to talk about episodes...and the people on the boards get out of control...and it becomes the Lois v Chloe wars. Just wanted to clarify.

And I think all the names that you mentioned, Claire are VALID. There are other names of course...actually MANY of the CW stars should get awards...from many shows...not just Smallville or Supernatural (even though they are great!)

How about you invite the fans to make a list Claire?...so that no one feels that their favorite person is left out.

Like I said before, many of the CW stars should get awards...the list is long.

Lauren hasn't had good enough material in two years to be nominated. Jensen Ackles? Now he's the revelation. He's *nothing* like he was as Jason on Smallville. Nothing. He's created a brilliant, compelling character in Dean Winchester. Jason was sacrificed on the altar of Lana. Dean won't be sacrificed to anyone. Some fans hate that his character shot a violent and contagious woman on the last episode of Supernatural, but they can't stop talking about it and debating it and what Dean will or won't do even now, eight days later. His character is *that* fascinating, (he'll make the hellish decisions and take actions that other characters are loathe to take) and it's all due to Jensen's performance.

If you really want to be fair then for GG it has to be either John, Annette , Tom or Michael from Smallville not Allison.

I'm sorry, but Allison is most certainly NOT deserving of a GG. Jensen? Well, since I've never seen an episode of Supernatural, I can't say much about him, only that he totally sucked on Smallville.
Lauren? Yes. Now she is amazing.

And what about Kristin? She's been deserving of a nod for awhile now.

Are you Allison Mack's friend? Because you talk so much about her.. It's very boring! Smallville is about Clark Kent not Chloe Sullivan. And i think Tom, Annette or Kristin deserves a golden globe. especially Kristin she is amazing in emotional scenes. It's not fair with her.

You're kidding.

SuperChloe deserves WHAT? HAHAHAHA.

I threw up in my mouth after reading this.

thats not fair i think jensen ackles and jared padalecki both deserve awards for their amazing acting on supernatural along with other CW stars especially jensen his acting is just soo good he should get an award for every episode i swear that man is probally the best (or at least one of the best) actors on TV right now. whoever deciedes who gets an award at this Golden Globe Awards must be insanee for not giving jensen (and other CW stars) an award or at least nominating him
