We’ve still got a week to wait for the new Supernatural episode, and we’re going into withdrawal. We’re consoling ourselves with news, gossip and fan fiction – and we can use your help.

First off, the news. Show creator Eric Kripke tells the Cincinnati Post about why there’s so much angst on screen in Supernatural:

"In 'Supernatural,' we don't play it as the elation and joy of having this power," Kripke said. "We try to ground everything in human emotion. You're not telling procedurals about what a witness said. You're talking about the grand issues of faith and hope and evil and destiny."

And hey, we like those grand issues. But we’re happy Kripke and Co. leaven the angst with plenty of snark, pop culture references and fun.

Now the gossip: Readexpress.com is worried about Britney Spears. She needs a new man, and they think Jared is a decent candidate. Their assessment: “Like Britney, he's from the South. He seems like a nice guy, someone who might help her settle down a bit.”

To which we reply: Nooooooooo! We don’t doubt Jared would be great for Britney, but good lord, we can’t imagine Britney being good for Jared. Hell, he’d be better off with the Crossroads Demon or even Angela the murderous zombie. And can you imagine Britney blasting from the Metallicar’s speakers? Blasphemy!

Finally, this week’s fan contribution. We love Deirdre C’s list of rules that Dean has laid out for Sam on the road. For example:

13. If I spill coffee on the dashboard, I’m walking back to California.
13a. If pizza sauce drips on the upholstery, I’m walking back to California.
13b. If I keep laughing after Dean’s Dr. Pepper explodes when he pops the top, I’m walking back to California.

Hee!
