Post of the Week: These Are Fighting Words

"I am bitterly disappointed about the segment about tattoos. I may not watch anymore. The idea of a man of God having one... Read: “You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks upon you” (Lev. 19:28). This is outragious. I was bitterly disappointed." - Mary Overmyer, in response to 7th Heaven: The Tattoos That Wagged a Thousand Tongues

Do you agree with Mary? Are you done with 7th Heaven after the writers gave every member of the Camden family permanent artwork on their bodies? We see her point, but we'd love to see this season end with a Ruthie/T-Bone nuptial! How about that?! Food for thought for the weekend, Sourcesters!

they are not going to send the show that would be crazy they left to much open but then again they could come back with everything they did not go in to with

Mary, while you are entitled to your opinion, i disagree with you. they play the role as people of god and if they are christians in life good for them, i am too. and if they feel the need to have a tatoo then let them that is their own choice.

i miss cecilia i want she and simon back together and ruthie and martin lucy gets another baby i'm sorry bout her lost and i will keep on buying and watching this show

I do not agree with Mary about the tattoos because even a man of God can have one. He wasn't always a preacher and he's still a human being. However, I loved watching this show growing up and still watching it as an adult. It won't be the same not being able to watch anymore if this is their last season.
I think Mary is a very religious person. That's probably why she wrote what she did, but there are no perfect people in this world whether it's on tv or not. I go church but no matter what I do, I will never be perfect. So I hope Mary doesn't think that people can be.

7th Heaven is one of my favorite tv shows that i always watch.I would never want the show to end.

I don't care about the stupid tatoos, i just want to know when new episodes are coming on!!! I used to absolutely love the show and go out of my way to watch it, but this season sucks!!! We haven't heard anything about Simon and Rose, they never mentioned whether Martin or Simon was Aaron's father- they just kind of let us hanging, and they didn't even tell the names of Matt and Mary's twins!! This season is a total let down. No wonder why they don't have good ratings!

I just have to respond to Mary Overmeyer. While you are entitled to your opinion, what world are you living in? Who is your higher power? I am guessing a judgmental beast. I also hope that you do not have kids and if you do, I hope they're old enough to make their own decisions. A tattoo does not define a person. It does not make them beneath you or your self rightous little passage. Lady, you need to loosen up, become less rigid, and TRY to find happiness in your close minded world.

I know I sound like a broken record but I still want Marin and Ruthie together. Last season seemed like a tease to me. I still also believe that Aaron is still Simons baby.

T-Bone's ok but just does not seem like Ruthie's type ( you know the dorky adorable kind) I see her w/someone like Martin or even Mac.

Am I the Only one left?

hey everyone...(i'm not the same marythat everyone is disagreeing with)...tattoos are fine with and i'm a christian...my lil sis even has one (she got it when she was 18)..i have four tattoos...and they all mean something..they all represent a certain time in my life...i think if your going to get a tattoo..let it mean something...dont just get it because its cute..then u'll end up regretting it.

Who like seventh heaven anyways? Why are you wasting your time on a show that doesnt even swear and not to mention Bible freaks!

Mary, that's just sad. First of all, it's a show. It's not real. Second of all, people are human, and it's nice to see someone like Eric and Annie being real and human as well. It's quite sad that anyone would stop watching over something so remarkably minor. I am not a fan of tattoos, but that doesn't mean I think they are bad, or people who get them are. Because that is not the case. This is reality, Mary. Maybe you should wake up to it.

It was classic 7th Heaven to have the whole family end up having tatoos. I don't think that it makes any of them a bad person.

However, I don't like the fact that Ruthie got a tatoo. One, she is underage. Two, she didn't really think it out. Basically it was one week she wanted one and the next week she got one. Third, I really can't stand that she got a guy's name tatooed on her body. She doesn't know if they are going to last or not?

I am a Christian without tatoos but I don't see anything wrong with someone getting one. They just have to be responsible and think about it because it is permanent.

I, for one, think it's about time a man (or woman for that matter) of God came into the 21st Century. Okay, not really the 21st Century since other religions have been tattooing and piercing for many, many centuries before us. I commend the writers for taking such a chance, as they always do with this show. That's what keeps me coming back for more. They don't wag their finger at those who live their lives the way that they see fit for themselves and still preach the word of God. I myself am a Christian, but not to the extent of believing everything that is written in the Bible applies to today's world. That doesn't mean that I don't believe that those things didn't happen way back when, I personally don't believe IN them. I think there's a difference.
But, that's just my opinion.
I have a tattoo, does that make me a bad person? I don't think so.

Give me a break Mary. How long have you been watching 7th Heaven?? You are so quick to judge the character because he has a tattoo and in the process forgetting everything else about him. It's clear to me that you just don't get what the show is about do you? Here's a hint...it wasn't really about the tattoo's.

I will admitt that my initial thought when I saw "T-BONE" was "OUCH!!!! THAT is really BIG!!!"

THANK YOU 7TH HEAVEN I LOVE THE SHOW. KEEP DOING THAT THING YOU DO!!!!

PS...I am a 40 year old Tattooless Christian who can think of many other things wrong with a few men or WOMAN of God then if they have a tattoo or not.

I completely disagree with Mary.

For one thing, when were we told that Eric got a tattoo? We weren't. So it's safe to assume that it could've been before he actually became a minister.

Not to mention that over the show's 11 seasons Eric has done plenty of things, not approved by the bible:

Keep Holy the Sabbath is a commandment, but Eric wouldn't even step foot into the church on Sundays during the season 7 arc when he chose not to be a minister for 6 months.

I honestly enjoyed Sunday's 7th Heaven. The entire family having a tattoo was a funny twist. I mean they are all Preacher's Kids, and we don't know how big any of them are (other than Ruthie's and Lucy's). That's the fun of it all.

Mary needs to really chill out and admit that she only made that post in order to launch some anger in the 7th Heaven community. I'll never stop watching, that's for sure!

no i got a tattoo and it shouldn't matter i mean there are people who go to cherch and have them i don't go to cherch but it just a tv show i don't even which this show at all
