Attention College Students: Create Your Own Supernatural Promo
Hey, college student Supernatural fans: Remember the Supernatural promo set to Johnny Cash’s version of “God’s Gonna Cut you Down”? It was the perfect combination of moody visuals, awesome music, and killer atmosphere to sum up the show.
Think you can do better?
Check out Making the Cut, a competition sponsored by The CW, creative marketing solutions company BLINK, and Promax/BDA, a worldwide association of entertainment marketers, promoters and designers. They’re looking for rising marketing/promotional gurus, and they’re using Supernatural to find them.
They want you to create a promo trailer, up to 90 seconds long, that creates buzz around our favorite spooky show. Go to the Promax/BDA Student Alliance site to register. They’ll send you footage to play with. You use your creative genius to craft the sort of spectacular, compelling promo the Winchester boys deserve.
Trailers will be judged on their ability to:
1. Capture viewers’ attention
2. Convey the network’s message about the show
3. Present the material in an original and compelling manner
The winner of the competition will be offered an internship at The CW. Semifinalists will have their work shown at the PROMAX conference in New York City in June.
We can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with.

I'm out of college but I think this is a great idea. I'm very excited to see the turn out!

Wonderful! I'm not in college but I can't wait to see the videos.
Long live Supernatural!

That's a great idea, even if it's just for people in college.
Fans will make awesome videos and that should help to promote the show.
So does this mean the CW will order another season of Supernatural?
Even today another supposed tv personality said the show's future was not looking good.
Will we ever hear something from the CW?
Please please let us know something!
Love you CW!

This particular contest is being run by Promax/BDA, a worldwide association of entertainment marketers, promoters and designers. They're doing it through their student alliance section, which is aimed specifically at college students. So that's where that comes from.
However, there sure are a lot of impressive vid makers out there, and a lot of them aren't in college. Let us ponder the situation....

Awesome idea! There are a lot of creative Supernatural vidders out there.
However, I also agree that the arbitrary limit on who can enter is rather short-sighted. Supernatural appeals to a broad demographic, and by excluding a very large portion of it, you are in essence saying to the fans who aren't in college at the moment (either not there yet, or already done, or just taking a different path with their life) that their creative viewpoints are not as important, or perhaps even not welcome.
It is a fabulous idea to get the fans involved in the promotion of this show, as there is already guerilla marketing taking place. This show is going to get promoted. Let all the fans have the opportunity to work with you to do so.

I agree. This should have a wider audience. Boo. ;-)

Man no fair since I'm going to college a couple years and I edit videos really good. I even have Adobe Premiere 3, the video editing software. Good thing I use youtube for stuff. I wanna be a intern at the CW!
