The CW's Future: Reality-Heavy?

Is reality fare like Top Model the future for The CW?We’ve got about a month and a half to wait before we know what the CW’s fall schedule will look like – which shows are coming back, which shows are leaving for good, and what new pilots are being picked up. And yes, the wait is killing us.

But an article in Broadcasting & Cable gave us something to think about: About a third of the network’s 17 fall pilots are reality shows. Plus, one of the potential scripted shows is a comedy set behind the scenes at a reality show.

That makes some sense, when you think about it –
America’s Next Top Model and Beauty and the Geek have been two of the CW’s biggest ratings successes, plus the network's latest reality show, Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll is drawing a devoted audience. Why shouldn’t The CW go with what it knows works?

We’ve already heard about one of the potential shows – Crowned, the mother/daughter beauty pageant, sounds deliciously trashy. Or will scripted shows like OTH make a comeback?
Another potential show on the block: Viewsers, a show that collects the web’s best user-generated content and allows viewers to see what others are saying and communicate with them live on-air. Considering how much fun we have trolling YouTube for CW-related fan-vids, we can see the appeal of this idea.

What do you think – do you tune in for the reality programming, or do you prefer the scripted programs? Does the user-created video show appeal to you? Would you rather see more shows along the lines of Top Model or Beauty and the Geek, or Supernatural and One Tree Hill? What’s your favorite show on the network and what do you want to see more of? Let us know in the comments!

Due to the writers' strike I was browsing the net looking for something else to watch. After I found all of these comments I decided to give Supernatural a try. Boy am I glad I did!! I loved every episode. I actually stayed up through the night watching every episode for the first season in one sitting. Then, after the season 1 finale I had to watch a couple more to find out what happened... Wow, what a show!!! In two days I have watched every episode for 2 plus seasons... What a blast!

I normally don't watch much TV. I am not a browser. I look for shows at the beginning of the season, plan out a few shows to watch. Then, they either maintain my interest, or they don't. There are several nights during the week that I don't watch any TV at all (Thursday happens to be one of them). The only shows I watched on The CW before this was ANTM and Reaper. Just as an FYI, I bumped into Reaper in September on iTunes and really liked it, but the picture for Supernatural didn't grab my attention. I kind of thought it was some kind of reality show or documentary where the two main guys just covered stories about myths, legends, and ghost stories. I only watch one or two reality shows at a time, so I thought that Supernatural was not for me.

Boy was I wrong, this show is perfect! The genre that always captures me is a well written exciting series just like Supernatural. It is kind of scary for me to think that I might never have found this show without its presence on the web. I totally missed FOX's FireFly because I missed the advertising for it. By the time I found FireFly it was already cancelled.

I am amazed that I missed the buzz about this show for this long because it is right down my alley. I have now pushed my Mom and sister into watching the show with me. I am going to buy the DVDs next weekend and we are going to have a couple of marathons to get them caught up with the series. I LOVE Supernatural!! I can't imagine ever getting tired of this story.

Supernatural is one of the best written shows on television right now. There isn't the drama that the soap operas and other primetime shows have. Yet the scifi aspect of the show is "real" enough not to feel flakey. It's a terrific show with terrific characters and actors. If it's not broke-don't fix it! Keep Supernatural the way it is and on the CW! You'll regret it if you don't. :)

I am not a fan of reality tv. We need more shows like supernatural. It has been an awesome show since day one and always keeps you comming back for more. This is the only show that I absolutely have to see every week. Supernatural should definately come back for a third season.

I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!
it has to stay!!!! I NEED to know what happens, my thursday night would be sooo boring with out Dean and Sam!

Not since the X-Files (an exemplary piece of TV) have I been so addicted to a show. Its engaging storylines, cinematic quality and top-notch production are simply unparalleled. There is so much more that needs to be told about the Winchester boys, and should be told. To cancel it would be to say, "No, in fact, I don't like good television." Why would anyone work in this field if they don't like good television?

I can really add little to the overwhelming, articulate and passionate voices posted here AGAINST reality TV, except to say that IF the CW’s BEST scripted show, Supernatural, is not renewed for a third season (although I’m 99.9% confident it will) and if reality TV is the future of TV, and the CW in particular, I am done with TV. Period. For good. I will sell my television and not think twice about it. Why bother with television’s sorry mediocrity and mindless, brain-numbing drivel, when the entire world exists on the internet? Between my passion for books and the bounty of the net, I will have no use for or need of TV. Ever.

CW, I think you may severely underestimate your audience, which, by the way, is a lot bigger than your narrowly targeted core ‘demographic’. Reality shows may be cheap to produce and get you cheap, short term ratings...but they still remain cheap, in every bad sense of the word. Many, many out here are intelligent, savvy and thinking viewers. With all due respect, you insult us by continuously trying to shove pointless and dumbed-down ‘reality’ garbage down our throats. I watch none of it.

Next year, no one is going to remember or care who won ANTM or PCD...but ten...twenty years from now, I GUARANTEE you, people WILL remember the Winchesters of Supernatural.

Supernatural is the ONLY show I watch religiously. In fact, it’s pretty much the ONLY show I watch. Instead of trying to make viewers conform to your very limited and narrow concept of ‘good’ TV, i.e. reality shows, which you promote very heavily, how about keeping and crafting high quality scripted series the viewers want and demand...like Supernatural...shows that will stand the test of time, be syndication powerhouses and make us hug you and our televisions again?

PAY ATTENTION TO THE VIEWERS! Back in the late sixties, some bright TV execs decided that the ‘cult’ series Star Trek, despite a huge and rabid fan base, and despite being thrown into the black hole of the Friday night death slot (sound familiar, guys?), was not worthy of renewal. FANS KNEW BETTER.

So, CW, please think long term...save yourself and us a lot of heartache and grief...renew Supernatural. Like Star Trek, Supernatural, the phenomenon, is NOT going away. Now into our second glorious season, it has found its loyal and rapidly growing niche and is hitting its stride...it is firmly entrenched in our hearts, minds and souls...and soon, our wallets, as well, with all the promotional and tie-in items coming out.

If Supernatural goes, I go. CW, you will never see me again.

Do not break our hearts. We need heroes. We need the Winchesters. We need Supernatural.

SUPERNATURAL rules the CW! Not only is it classy, smart and razor sharp, it is creative, innovative and thrilling. It is a total package kind of show...it deftly blends scary, drama, action, comedy, angst, snark, mystery, humor, intelligence and playfulness. It never fails to deliver...week after week. It makes us howl with laughter...it breaks our heart with tears...it scares us so we watch with the lights on. It is highly addictive and its legions of devoted and passionate fans continue to grow. I predict that Supernatural is destined to become a classic...along the lines of X-Files and Star Trek.

Supernatural is truly in a class by itself. It is SO much MORE than a simple ‘horror’ series. In fact, calling it a ‘horror’ series does it a great disservice and injustice. It is ultimately a story of HEROES...something our society sorely needs in this day and age of cynicism.

It’s focus and central theme is NOT the ‘monster of the week’, although the guys see their share of them. Its focus, first and foremost, has always been about family, good v. evil, moral and ethical dilemmas, brotherly love...and plenty of heart.

Its stars, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, are two of TV’S most talented, gifted and versatile actors. They very often deliver stunning performances. They are phenomenal as the Winchester brothers and their onscreen chemistry is nothing short of astounding. Their brotherly bickering, bantering and quips alone are worth watching.

The powerhouse of Eric Kripke & Co. and the show’s cast and crew are MASTERS at mixing up the various elements of the show. How many shows today can do comedy AND drama equally well in the same series...the same EPISODE? Take you from screaming laughter to crushing heartbreak in 90 seconds flat? It takes REAL talent to pull that off...MAJOR talent...and the Supernatural team has it in spades.

Devoted and passionate fans clearly see Supernatural for the exceptionally fine show it is. We greatly appreciate the show’s complex character...one that cannot be neatly pigeon-holed. We watch and dearly love it for it’s many neatly overlapping layers...and the delicious twists and turns!

Sam and Dean Winchester are normal guys, who happen to have very abnormal jobs. That’s one of the things that makes Supernatural so special. The boys are everyday guys...blue-collar heroes, if you will...the guys next door...fighting the good fight against the bad that surrounds us. They are good guys who do very good things for total strangers.

Great role models, anyone?

I can honestly say that Dean and Sam Winchester are the first and only characters I’ve ever truly, deeply LOVED. They, along with the storyline, have been created so masterfully, that I passionately care about them and what happens to them...almost like they’re family. OK...they ARE family. I have invested my heart, mind and soul in the Winchesters and their road trip. From the very first episode...without hesitation...I jumped into the backseat of their black ‘67 Chev Impala and said, “Where we headed today, guys?” I will follow them ANYWHERE, ANYTIME...without question.

Supernatural is a 24K masterpiece.

I'm sick of reality shows. My life has enough drama in it that I don't need to watch someone else's on TV.
I know you have to try to appeal to wide audience with different tastes, but scripted shows will always be best and Supernatural is the best show on TV and certainly on the CW.
Pay attention to the gold you have and promote it better. I'm sorry to say I hardly ever see promotions for SN and I can't understand it.
Why aren't you promoting the best thing you've got?

Supernatural is the BEST show on the CW network. Cancelling this show would be suicide cause then you would lose a gem. This show is extremely well written( because it is very well researched) and very well acted and directed. Jensen and Jared bring so much heart to their characters every week. To the first time veiwer, it might seem like a show about Demons and ghosts and spirits. But this show is so much more. It's all about the emotions and angst and most importantly the relationship between the brothers. A lot of shows out there completely lack this amazing combination. This is where Supernatural wins. And it has done very very well in a blood bath of a time slot. Kudos to you guys!!
I am an avid fan of The X-Files and always thought that no other show would ever be as good but boy, was I wrong. Supernatural is exactly what this network needs to be a success.

There's enough of Reality Television on tv. I agree that ANTM and Dolls attract a lot of veiwers but there's a simple reason to that. They get a LOT of promotion. Everytime I put on the tv, I never fail to see a trailer for ANTM or Dolls.

And quite honestly, most of us watch tv to escape reality and the normal everyday life. Scripted shows bring that much needed relief which reality shows don't provide.

Me and million others would be completely devastated and heart broken if Supernatural is cancelled.

Bottom line? Enough of reality tv! Keep the good, deserving shows, like Supernatural, on air.
I know that it's all about ratings but it's also about good, quality television.

The only television show I watch with any regularity is SUPERNATURAL. It is unique, it has a stable and effective rhythym, excellent acting and writing, a diverse fanbase, and it has held up against CSI and Grey's Anatomy. Basically, it has appeal on multiple levels.

With what I just said in mind, would I watch reality tv show after reaity tv show on your network? No, never. Enough with the reality tv shows!

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of the CW right now is that it is a network with a very homogenous group of viewers, which limits the abiltiy of the network to grow. You need diversity of show type to reach a wide audience and raise viewership. Statisics aren't going to change by creating a surplus of one kind of show. Eventually, people will get tired and you'll lose even more viewers in the long run.

The best networks around have a blend of scripted dramas and reality television. There's room for both. And when you do make new scripted dramas, choose ones that have broad appeal like SUPERNATURAL does.

Reality TV has become the easy way to go on TV, and there are so many that most get lost in the shuffle, while scripted shows like Lost, Bones, and Battlestar Galactica really shine.

Supernatural is the next X-Files. It is BY FAR the most intelligent and well-written original show on the CW. It deserves as much promotion as the CW can spare, and the biggest spotlight you can find.

With Grey's Anatomy beginning to slip (according to critics), Thursday may not be a bad slot for much longer. Even now, I doubt any other show could hold its own on Thursday the way Supernatural has. No other show on the CW can touch it in quality or fanbase. Drop tired shows like 7th Heaven and put the money toward promoting Supernatural. The fan base will thank you, and I believe the payoff will be much greater.

The only must-see show for me is Supernatural. Personally, I'm not a fan of reality shows, as I appreciate a program that allows me to sit down with my family so we can enjoy it together. Supernatural is smartly written and brilliantly acted, and in my humble opinion, replacing it (or any other high caliber show) with mindless reality programs will only succeed in diminishing the quality of your network.

The only reason I, or any of my friends, have ever watched the CW was for Veronica Mars. If that gets canceled, reality TV shows hold no interest for me.

I consider myself a consumer of media shows of a variety of types, from dramas to situation comedy to game shows, among others.

However, none of them are reality TV shows. NONE. I understand that "reality" television carries a lower cost-to-produce, but I truly believe the payoff in the long run is and continues to be a reduction in the quality of television-- and a reduction in the numbers watching.

Intelligent, well-scripted television that tells a good story has not only the strength of immediate-airing, but a longer positive financial impact in terms of followup media sales, such as downloadable episodes and DVDs.

Why do I mention this? Because I watch Supernatural, regularly. I record it, I've purchased the DVDs for myself and as gifts, I've purchased episodes from iTunes-- and even though I watch it recorded, I ALSO watch the commercials in order to pay attention to who sponsors good television. I firmly believe this show has the potential to be a pop culture phenomenon like the X-Files was, and to bring to the CW the same sort of benefit that XF brought to Fox.

Please keep Supernatural on the air. Give me a reason to continue watching and supporting quality TV on the CW.

Supernatural is definitely my favorite show on the CW, and probably my favorite show on television right now. It's the only thing I watch regularly every week, rather than waiting for re-runs. I can't miss it! (Too bad about all those hiatuses and stuff...) I really hope it lasts for a long time...

I pretty much live on my computer. Only three shows drag me away from it for any period of time, Supernatural being one of them.

And even then, when I get back on my computer, the first thing I do is look up crap related to Supernatural. I'm definately not alone in this. All that needs be said about why this show needs to be kept around has already been said, I think, by others. All you have to do is look on YouTube or fanfiction.net to see how crazy people are about the show. And I guarantee you they're the type of viewers who return again and again.

Supernatural is my weekly ritual. Please don't take that from me.

I realize reality television (which I've never been able to watch, personally) is cheap to produce and usually requires no more thought than a bunch of bored people sitting around during lunch break. But that's the greasy, rancid, roach-infested fast food of televishion. Give me the steak of drama! The potatoes of character developement! And if there's a wine of fantastic writing, that'd go just perfectly with the meal.

More plot, more thought, more excitement!

god please no reality shows. Supernatural and Veronica Mars I love. All of the reality shows start to blend together

I only make it a point to watch five or six shows on television a week - none of them are reality shows and only one of them is on the CW: Supernatural. I'd hate to see this show taken off the air. I love the bond between the two brothers, and the blend of drama/suspense/humor keeps me coming back week after week.

Reality TV is the very worst thing to ever hit TV. It undermines human intelligence, and implys that everyone had the maturity of 10-year-old. Becoming reality heavy is suicide for any network.

Great scripted shows, give a network integrity, and style. You have a great scripted show, "Supernatural", but it is underpromoted and in a timeslot of death. Advice: PROMOTE IT! This scipted show, and any other decent scripted show can but a developing network in the same league as others. Reality is short lived, and I predict that in less than 5 years, it will have finished its too long life, and have gone off the cliff. Scripted is the way to go.

Survivor, American Idol, ... Wherever you look you see reality TV Shows that call themselves "the real deal" or "awesome" and "different". However, my personal opinion to that: They're crap. Really, if I want to watch reality I go into the street right in front of my house. I watch TV because I want to see something else. Fiction.

I am aware fo the fact that many shows get cancelled because they don't get enough viewers. However, I want to speak in favor of my favorite show: Supernatural.

It has a really tough time slot, having to fight against CSI and Grey's Anatomy is not easy. However it has held its spot and it has kept most of its viewers. With a little bit more advertising and reruns at a different time (so people can also record it, when they're not recording anything else!) it would be a lot better off.
It's one of the best shows out there right now, it's refreshing, funny, but also scares the crap out of you (or me?) every single week. I would like to keep it that way. Every single person that I told about this show is amazed by it and instantly drawn to it. I am certain if given another season it will be doing just as great.

Honestly, why would anyone watch Reality TV escapes my understanding, but if there actually are people who like it - and don't merely watch because there's nothing else in tv - well, of course you have to consider them.

Like many posters before me, I love Supernatural, and every week the storyline just sucks me in and doesn't let go.

I would like to urge the network to keep to their slogan, and be free to be original: no matter which show (though I'd love for it to be Supernatural), keep the scripted programs, raise the standards and let me see GREAT quality tv. I want to see well-made television, I want to watch tv shows that make me feel, and not lose myself in the depressing well that is reality programming.

There are some series that sell DVD even years after their ending (Buffy, anyone?); the network obviously believed in it, and focused good marketing strategies on not only keeping the show floating, but raising it to levels rarely shown before.

What can you do? Play to your strenghts. Interacting with the fan base is a great start to have an idea of what the public really wants to see.

Choosing smart timeslots is another point. You pit Supernatural against CSI and Grey's Anatomy, and still, the fans surprise you by their constant high ratings. That should tell you that we fans try our best to show you that we care about what we watch and like. And when there is the need, we fight long and hard for our show's survival on the screen.

Last, but not least; be really, really innovative and once, or twice, renew a show for two years instead of one: I bet that great storylines, and great scripted tv will come out.

there are too many reality shows as it is and most are crap. they are fine if you want to put them during the off season but dont break up the regular season with them. You see how well that went over this last year. You have fans pissed about OTH and Supernatural/Smallville. Order more episodes of the great shows and keep your fans happy otherwise we can find other forms of entertainment.

I used wanted to say that I live in the uk and I love supernatural - I am not a teenager or someone who watches sn because the brothers are hunky. This is THE BEST show on tv at the moment by a long way in my mind and I would be devestated if it was cancelled. This show truly keeps me on the edge of my seat, it is the only show I would drop everything to watch. The acting, production, story lines are all amazing.

With the advent of seemingly mindless reality shows and the predictable and over played dramatizing of inner conflict, how can anyone take a show like Supernatural off and replace it with reality TV?

Yes Supernatural is a horror movie every week but it is so much more than that. It's about the bonds of family. It raises questions that have to be answered. It never fails to sweep you away. Daring you to get lost in the story and all of its undercurrents. How can the CW even think about replacing this amazing show with reality TV? Especially since it attracts not only teenage girls but people of all ages and sex. To replace Supernatural would be like cutting off the CW's own leg.

Nothing on television turns me off more quickly than reality shows, and some currently airing are not only repulsive, they are an insult to one's intelligence. Please, if you wish your network to be taken seriously and ultimately succeed, add more quality scripted shows to your venue.

A perfect example of a "quality scripted show" is SUPERNATURAL, which is the only show I currently watch on the CW. With the two leading actors only in their twenties, it has garnered an enormously devout fanbase comprising an incredible age range; only a finely crafted show can manage such a feat. As an upper-middle class woman in her 40's, I am not interested in watching a teenage soap drama nor another cheezy sit-com with a piped in laughtrack. As I do my bit to help promote Supernatural, I am finding that my circle of acquaintances are either not aware of your network, or have you pidgeonholed as network only for younger, urban viewers.

As you consider your upcoming lineup, please keep in mind those of us who would like to support you...AND your advertisers. And please...keep Supernatural on the air.

SUPERNATURAL is a MUST KEEP show.

If the CW decides to take Supernatural off the air then I'm giving up on television. I'm so sick of reality tv!! I'm sick of GREAT scripted shows being cancelled because of stupid "unscripted" reality tv.

Please, listen to us fans, listen to what WE want to see (SUPERNATURAL), listen to what we DON'T want to see (REALITY TV), afterall, we are the ones who can make or break the network.

SUPERNATURAL will go on...I have faith!

SUPERNATURAL! SUPERNATURAL! SUPERNATURAL!!! OF COURSE. Supernatural is my favorite show sooooo far!!!!! It will get picked up, I have faith on that <3

SUPERNATURAL!!!! its the greatest show EVERR!!!!! omgg!!!!!!! SUPERNATURAL!!!! SUPERNATURAL!!!! SUPERNATURAL!!!! SUPERNATURAL!!!! SUPERNATURAL!!!!

SUPERNATURAL!!!!
SUPERNATURAL!!!!
SUPERNATURAL!!!!
SUPERNATURAL!!!!

I think that we need more scripted shows, they are better. reality tv is stupid. they don't last long , the people can't act and it is just bouring. i think we need more shows like one tree hill. now that is a good show.

Even though I love America's Next top Model and even (sometimes) Beauty and the Geek, I think the one show that holds my attention on the CW is Supernatural.

It really is an odd-ball show on the nextwork, just because it is so opposite the girlish hype that many of the other shows posess. But the hot guys on the show really served to bring in the female viewers.

Personally, I'm a girly girl, and having a show with two hot brothers (AND a great plot) on the same network as reality shows doesn't bother me at all. Supernatural deserves a different type of advertising, however... I think the show has done pretty well on its own to draw in the viewers it has, but being paired with even more girly shows is almost demeaning, especially because of its time slot. So if I were given an option between more reality shows and more shows like Supernatural (the hardcore, scripted type of show), I would definately go with the scripted shows. After watching reality TV I feel zombified, but Supernatural actually makes me think.

'REALITY' television is just a cheap alternative.

It will NEVER Live-up to the standards of immense satisfaction one can get from watching a 'GREAT' fictional story unfold right-in-front of ones EYES!...on tv!
-Not even having to pick up a book , just by watching a screen and witnessing story after storyline, tale after tale of endless adventure, thrill and providing
some very much longed for & WORTHY...

(key -word)
>>'ENTERTAINMENT'<<

To hit our screens since GREAT shows like "The X-Files" were in existence...

That is...it is shows like, 'supernatural'... that are currently being watched on 'YOUR' network, "THE CW". SHOWS that are developing storylines, reeling in viewers from 'week-to-week' that hold the 'REAL'-'KEY' to making a successful TV network.

Supernatural hasn't recieved the same amount of advertising as such REALITY shows as,'America's Next Top Model'and 'The Search for the Next Doll', maybe if given equal representation, a fair chance ... NON-REALITY shows 'MIGHT ACTUALLY' produce viewing-figures they are much more worthy of, instead of leaving them behind, 'To bite the dust'...so to speak...and make MORE room for REALITY programming that ONLY takes away from the intrigue and 'special warmth'
-ONCE ONLY CREATED BY 'GREAT'- shows... since gone...now mourning that which only THEY could give us.

Please, I beg of you...ask youselves this:

Should Supernatural REALLY be the show to GO here?

thankyou.

Supernatural is the best show on television. It is quality programming at its finest. I am continually amazed at the amount of research that the writers must do before creating each episode. The cinematography and special effects are movie quality, which must be quite a feat given the limited production time for each episode. The entire cast and crew do a fantastic job. Supernatural is my only "must watch" show of every week. As for reality tv, I detest it and do not watch it. Partly because I don’t believe it’s real, and partly because I have no interest in what the “contestants” are doing.

The writing is definitely what makes Supernatural superior to anything else out there. I can always count on them to deliver humor, angst, and sometimes pure, delightful horror. They can satisfy your every need. As an added bonus, can the main characters get any hotter? I think not.

Well, Supernatural is my favorite show so far, i really love it, ghosts, demons, all the scary story and the relationship between the Winchesters as a family are totally amazing, well written, well acting, the best quality i've ever seen from a show.

I Love Supernatural :)
Supernatural 4ever!
With Love from Hungary

I understand the stations need to integrate more reality shows--it's what is drawing in viewers in recent years. I don't attest to the addition of some reality shows, especially since I enjoy shows such as America's Next Top Model. But, as a devote fan, I MUST say...Supernatural is my absolute favorite show on our network. I think all of the comments on this page alone prove how in love Supernatural's fan-base is with the show. It has an intelligent plot and extremely talented cast. So many of the fans have stepped up their game and (like me) have been voting on every single online "Save One Show" polls and sending letters to station owners and leaving comments such as this one. It's apparent that people LOVE Supernatural as much as I do. I hope, I pray that you decide to keep Supernatural around for a third season.

It's just too good for it to go. =]

It is a sad commentary on the American culture that reality TV and soap operas saturate our three precious prime television viewing hours. Please, CW, I acknowledge (and empathize) that you are a young network and may still be in the process of establishing your "niche" in the television medium, and I don't know your ultimate target demograph; however, I know that "scripted" shows are the "classier" way to go.

It is my opinion that Supernatural is currently the best show on your network and, in general, on television (National Geographic, the History Channel and their likes don't count) today. (I do not need to reiterate my reasons this show is sublime - the testimonials of loyal fans that you have witnessed for yourself explain all.) I have watched Supernatural since its inception, at which time I was also interested in a handful of crime dramas on the other networks. Fast forward a year, and Supernatural is the ONLY show I HAVE to watch anymore. It would behoove any network to take a few pages from this unique gem of a series and formulate a more favorable reflection of our entertainment culture.

I've no patience for Reality Shows. Personally ,I feel "rooting" for a particular stranger as EXTREMELY weird stuff!LOL.Now, intelligently scripted series like my fav.Supernatural is something else...I feel respected as a viewer when the scriptwriters/producers SHOW PROOF that they're REALLY into entertaining us-and not taking us for granted with half-baked "plots" that's doomed from the pilot!!X-FILES was timely and had an excellent run. I feel the people behind Supernatural know they have a winner for the long run...So? INTELLIGENT/INTRIGUING scripted shows (even Westerns?) should be the challenge for producers ,not Reality shows for dummies.

I absolutely love Supernatural. I tune in every week! It’s the only show on t.v. that I just can’t miss. What can I say? It’s my favorite.

I’m thrilled that the CW airs a show as multi-faceted, original, and engrossing as Supernatural. Thank you!

Like many other posters before me have said, don't overload the CW with reality shows, they get old really fast and most make for mindless television. However, I do recognize that there is a need for them here at the CW, so just don't over do it (everything in moderation).

As for my favorite show, it would be Supernatural of course. Intense storylines, humor, drama, classic rock, bada$$ car, and two hot guys. What's not to love?

In all honesty, even though Top Model is my guilty pleasure, reality TV is a bit of a disgrace. It is not even real, as the editing twists the story to make it more appealing to the audience. The CW going reality-heavy would be a definite step toward an early death.

Reality TV gives the illusion of real life, while scripted television makes for a more enjoyable experience that does not try to pretend it is even in the realm of possibility at times. The only reason I turn into the CW at all is because of Supernatural, a high quality, sci-fi drama that has the potential to reach the popularity of Buffy or the X-Files, or to top that, if there was only more promotion and a better time slot. Of course, the fact that Supernatural holds its own in such a difficult time slot proves that it is worthy of returning, rather than being replaced by the shallow imitation of real life that is known as reality TV.

Supernatural is the show I care to watch on TV at all. I like having a show that I feel like I connect with ever week, one where I can care so much for the characters and take a jounrey with them week after week. I really don't understand how reality shows are so popular. It's so hard to find good TV these days.

I tune to the CW for Supernatural, my all-time favorite show. My husband forced me to watch the pilot with him after he read about it in our local paper. I was instantly hooked.

The storytelling is world class. The acting is the BEST. And the chemistry between Jensen and Jared blows me away.

The other thing that blows me away about this program is the loyalty of it's fanbase, but yet not enough promotion from the CW to match it's fanbase. It is holding it's own just fine against behemoths Grey's and CSI.

I am aware of how inexpensive (in comparison to scripted shows) that reality shows are to make. So if the CW needs to save $$ on them to keep Supernatural around, well then bring them on. I doubt I'll be watching them though.

In terms of user-generated content, I think it's fun to watch and is cool for contests, but would I watch a whole show about it? Probably not. It's funny in 5 minute segments.

In general, I find scripted shows much more enjoyable. Supernatural will "go down in history" for me as being a favorite of mine, NOT American Idol or Beauty and the Geek.

i think cw rokx it has awsome shows, but my favorite 1 is SUPERNATURAL its awsome,it has action, comedy, drama,n 2 cute guyz :) so if u havnt seen supernatural,u havnt lived....lol :)

Reality television is quickly becoming more and more exasperating by the day. Sure, it can draw in a big viewership, but that is only because of the "find out who's eliminated next" factor that brings people in every week. I strongly say, SCRIPTED television is the way to go. And this is even coming from a person who was once addicted to one of the most watched reality shows on the CW: "America's Next Top Model."

As far as the CW goes, I would consider myself pretty well rounded as to which shows I watch (I usually try to watch something every night on the CW, minus Monday night just because I'm not all that big on the short comedy hours). And for years, I was hooked on America's Next Top Model.

That all changed however.

I was going through the immensely large world of YouTube searching through some videos when I came across a show called "Supernatural." It just so happened that it was the pilot episode and decided to give the show a shot, never having heard of it before. But after watching it, I quickly became hooked and immediately watched the entire first season in the same day!

But then I wondered what station this amazing show was on so I could watch some more of the recent episodes. I did some searching and found out that it was on the CW, the same network I had been watching non stop because of my addiction to ANTM.

A more puzzling question came into my mind though when I was thinking: "How come I have NEVER heard of this show when I watch the CW almost every day? You would have thought I would have seen a commercial or SOMETHING. I always see ANTM commercials, but never this show."

I decided to fix my new found addiction by buying the entire first season of Supernatural and joining the CW Lounge for Supernatural and found out what a large and obsessed fanbase Supernatural has.

So, restraining myself from getting too off topic here...let me just say the major point...

SUPERNATURAL is a truly amazing and brilliantly SCRIPTED show that beats ANY reality show out of the ballpark. Scripted shows shouldn't even be compared to reality shows, they are two totally and completely different things.

Scripted shows require days and days of hard work with their dedicated actors working over 16 hour days. Obviously this is going to cost more to budget than a reality show...but frankly, I would rather watch QUALITY scripted shows than a quickly put together cheap budget, brings in lots of viewers, reality shows.

SUPERNATURAL is one such quality show that is mesmerizing to watch because it is so adamant of how hard working the actors and crew are to put together one of the greatest shows on television.

So please, CW, keep the fantastic show of Supernatural on the air as long as possible because it is one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. Scratch that. The best show I have ever seen in my LIFE. And I've only been watching it for 2 months now!

Reality television can make way for the hard working scripted shows that are completely deserving of being on the air. Reality fans will adjust if their show is gone, don't worry. I look back now and wonder WHY I was so fascinated in the first place to reality tv.

I now have a new obsession, and it includes the amazing duo of ghost hunters Dean and Sam Winchester "saving people, hunting things, the family business."

The very best show on TV right now is Supernatural. I could stand to see a whole lot more shows as well-written and entertaining. The concept is great, the actors intense and convincing, and the story line, both from week to week and over-all, is gripping. I hope I'm going to see Supernatural on my screen for years to come.

I think the choice to have Reality Television permeate the CW network instead of having scripted television shows would be a huge mistake!

It would be a band-aid to cover up what the real problems with the CW are.

Besides, a reality tv show might get more viewers for a little while, but what about in the long run? And what about creative integrity? These reality shows are a disgrace to art. They're nothing more than unscripted drama trash, with producers telling people what to do in the background. Then the editing is manipulated to make the people used appear as "characters."

But then again, maybe this is what people want to watch. Trash. It would make sense that the CW would become the queen of Reality TV. It's already on the route to becoming a network that lacks actual creative integrity.

The dramas on this network have all turned into soap operas since the move to the CW, and most of the shows have changed their format so as to gain more viewers, which by the way didn't really do anything. They advertise triangles instead of great story lines, and they ignore advertising characters that have large fan bases (IE: Chloe on Smallville), focusing on what it seems to be Dawn Ostroff's own ships.

So, should the CW switch to mostly Reality Television? If they do, I can guarantee it will be the beginning of the CW's demise (granted I think it already might have started with the choice to show "Runaway" instead of "Aquaman") Any average Joe could have told you that was a bad move.

My point is, Reality TV would be just a way to gain cheap viewers, but cheap viewers don't last long. There's no loyalty in the fan base.

I say come up with creative shows that no longer have the chauvinism that's been permeating on all of the CW shows this season, and make art. Hopefully, if there's a good word of mouth people will want to watch. But that includes having a good advertising campaign, which so far the CW sucks at.

I'm a UK viewer also and the show that I *always* tune into every week is Supernatural.

What's not to like? It's fresh, witty, scary, funny, sad and it boasts two very talented actors. Jensen and Jared are AMAZING and really bring Sam and Dean to life!

So instead of reality tv,I say BRING ON SUPERNATURAL!

As someone who lives in The U.K I am not well acquainted with The CW, that is apart from one programme of The CW's which I watch avidly each week on television here in The U.K. That programme is Supernatural. Supernatural is without a doubt the most original and best written show I have seen for a very long time. It is exciting, scary, funny and, at times, utterly heartbreaking. The brotherly relationship at the heart of the show makes for the most compelling drama and it is acted to perfection by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.
Reality shows? They are a scourge on television in whichever country you live in. Why devote time and money to such programming when you have a gem like Supernatural already in the schedule and which has the potential, with continuing (and increasing) advertising and promotion, to go beyond the cult status it already enjoys to become absolutely massive.

Supernatural is the reason I watch tv!! This show is so well written if feels like watching a movie each episode. Plus, the acting from Jensen and Jared is top notch, you won't find anything better. These two are super talented and need to be recognized as such. On the whole, you get scary, sexy, funny, sarcastic, exciting, angsty, happy, sad, dramatic...and many more, all rolled into one show. My opinion? AWESOME!!

I must confess, the only show I watch on the CW is Supernatural. I've never been a big fan of reality shows on any network however, I also realize that the network must be able to make a profit and reality shows are the all the craze.
I do think that if the network would promote Supernatural as much as their reality shows the ratings would increase, especially once people realize the clever writing, superb special effects and acting on the show.

For someone who does not live in the USA. Ratings wise, what happens to you affects everybody outside the US. We make up at least 20 million plus viewers. Do i have a solution no, but i have faith that Supernatural will have a 3 & 4 season. But the CW Network does need to promote this show. Spread the word every chance you get, coz" if it fails we suffer more where Supernatural is popular........

Game shows, sitcoms and "reality" (yeah RIGHT!) shows with their so called "broad market appeal" have flooded TV, and fried our brains these days. ENOUGH!

Enough crappy television! Enough prurient garbage that lauds greed, and venerates betrayal. Enough appealing to the lowest common denominator, enough programming "on the cheap". We should ALL be as mad as hell, and we shouldn't take it anymore!

In Supernatural we have a show with complex stories, engaging characters, and great special effects, which engages our minds and hearts.

There is some concern that Supernatural will NOT be picked up for a third season. This must not be allowed.

"The good shows often come few and far between... which is why we’ll settle for crap....Supernatural deserves a long life and... success..."1

"without a doubt, the best genre show...."1

"It’s one of the best sci-fi horror show on TV right now, and it is in fact one of the best sci-fi horror shows on TV in a very long time."2

"The plots are brilliant with twists that are fresh and perspectives that are real, not to mention characters that are always true to form and never flat or dull; indeed, they’re nothing short of fascinating and cooler than cool. It’s just plain off-the-charts rockin’!"2

"This show has what it takes to go for a good long haul, and it’s proven its powerful and enjoyable mettle from episode to episode. It’s deserving of all the attention established guests...can bring to the table, because this series runs on so much of its own merit and its casts’ and crews’ bests that they have a show worthy of attracting and intriguing those genre big shot guest stars in the first place."2

Now, when was the last time anyone saw reviews like THAT for a reality show??

Dawn Ostroff, and the CW's advertisers, take note please: advertise Supernatural,/b> more, and move it to a better slot. So, buck the trend, make a little history...
for the love of HEAVEN, NO MORE REALITY SHOWS!!!!

Supernatural for sure! It's the best CW show going AND way, way, WAY better than the ridiculousness of Grey's Anatomy! Give those of us who don't want soap operas in the night time something to sink our teeth into. I waited a long time for a show like this. Don't let it go!

In my opinion Supernatural is hands down the best show on the CW. If it was advertised even half as much as other CW shows such as America's Next Top Model and Search For The Next Doll I really believe that it could be as successful if not more than Buffy or the X-Files. It has everything you could want in a TV show, talent, good storylines, a balance between scary and humour, and more. If this show gets cancelled and shows like ANTM and Search For The Next Doll (which to me are both pure crap) get picked up for yet more seasons we will all know that the CW executives are out of their minds.

I definitely prefer scipted shows where the talents of the writers, crew and especially the actors can be optimized. When I sit down from a hard day after work I want to be entertained and taken away. That’s what I get when I watch Supernatural. The show had me hooked the first time I saw it. It first had me watching because I dared to be scared – and it worked! Then I quickly appreciated the show’s drama and humor as well. Where else can I find a show that let’s me follow such an amazing road trip, be afraid to turn out the lights, and laugh and cry all from the same episode? The Winchesters almost feels like part of my family because family is a strongpoint in the show and the drama is incredible. The brothers trials keep me coming back for more week after week. Hopefully the CW realizes the diamond that is in front of them.

I love the genre and there are not enough quality shows like this around. Every network can compete with another reality show but the numbers show that reality based shows are not where its at – well done scripted shows like Supernatural are what live on.

Supernatural is hands down the best show on the CW. It's got humor, mystery, horror, and brotherly love all in one show.
It has to come back for a Season 3. The Cw would be dead without it. Eric Kripke certainly knows what he's doing and his crew of writers and producers still keep surprising us and raising the bar.
Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles do an amazing job at portraying Sam and Dean Winchester. Their off screen chemistry adds so much to their on screen relationship and is really the driving force of the show. It's what people want to see progress every week.
If Supernatural does not return for a 3rd season, the CW will be receiving thousands upon thousands not so friendly fan letters.

I feel the CW should make sure they keep a balance between the reality based shows and its other shows like Supernatural and Smallville. I am extremely hopeful of a renewal for Supernatural because it is definitely the show I watch week after week with my family, and later discuss with my friends. Supernatural is a well scripted show and I think that it is not only hitting its intended target audience but all other ages as well.

See, I’m not only looking out for what I like to watch but what I want my children to watch because I have a 6 year old and a ten year old. Watching Supernatural with my husband and my ten year old has become a family night tradition that we really enjoy. My son watches Smallville also, and I am grateful that there are these shows on the CW. We enjoy a show that takes away from reality a little while and lets our imaginations roam. We need more shows like these.

The reality based shows on the CW like the Pussycat Dolls, and America’s Next Top Model seem to be connecting with their target audiences, but I’m not sure another reality show is what the CW needs unless it is so different and reaches out to the people already watching the CW. Reality is so done already!

When I think of the CW I love the network and would love to see more advertising done and definitely more official promotional items created. I have looked for a t-shirt or calendar for my son for Supernatural and I don’t want to buy one that is not licensed. There are other products that I would buy for myself and my friends like the mugs, and also watches, notebooks, pens, just about anything. The items would help promote viewing and I’d definitely invest.

The advertising for Supernatural has been terrific and exciting AND I want to see more. I really enjoyed the Johnny Cash commercial and the “Free to Be” commercials. The “Free to Be” commercials are what drew me into watching Supernatural in the first place. More quality advertising such as that would be sure to boost ratings on Supernatural and other CW shows that aren’t getting enough promotion. More advertising in general on Billboards or on the radio would help. I live in the Philadelphia suburbs and look at all the signs on I-95 and would love to see something up there from the CW promoting my favorite show. The local CW-Philly sometimes advertises on the radio and any advertising is helpful. Even signs at the bus stops would be another way to start.

The contest for a Supernatural promotion by college students is a wonderfully creative contest that I was excited to hear about! I hope that the colleges have taken part in promoting that idea and talking about it to their students. More contests like that really get people talking about the shows.

I have a very strong feeling from what I hear about the fans of the show Supernatural, that this show could become the next Buffy or X-Files because these types of fans are extremely loyal. I’ve heard about the horror and science fiction conventions in my area and when my son wants to go because Supernatural or Smallville would be represented then we will attend.

I am extremely glad things are going well for the CW’s reality based shows but I hope that its fictional shows are not forgotten or pushed aside because they are what sets the CW apart. Young and old alike can appreciate the quality entertainment that shows such as Supernatural bring to television.

I think that the CW would be making a huge mistake going reality heavy. What happens when the reality-tv ship sails and they have nothing to air? Personally, I don't like reality tv.

Now, if they want quality programming, they need to stick with shows like Supernatural. This show has it all. Great stories, great characters, great writers and directors and last but surely not least...Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and the amazing Eric Kripke.

Not only does this show have the monster of the week but it also has a great underlying mytharc and a waonderful brother story. The brother dynamic and the portrayal of Sam and Dean Winchester by Jared and Jensen are what keeps me tuning in every week.

The CW would be crazy to get rid of this show in favor of reality-tv. Look at the ratings they pull in, 3 million plus from week to week and that's in the Timeslot of Death.

Supernatural is the best show on television and with a little heavier promotion, it could do even better in the ratings.

Does the CW even know what it has with this show?

I have a question. How can it be reality tv when it's not real? I mean, yah, who's really acting like themselves in these reality shows?

I only watch one show faithfully, Supernatural. It is the best show on tv. It's the only show on tv that's actually any good and not a clone of all the popular dr, cops, mob tv shows that are saturating the entertainment business. As for Reality Shows, I really don't like them and eventually , they too shall pass.

Let me first say THANK YOU to the CW for keeping Supernatural for their second season. Also THANK YOU for all of positive feedback I have heard from CW on the show, and inviting them to the forum this year. Thank you for also creating a great contest to promote the show. I would love to see MORE of that in the third season to attract more viewers. We as Supernatural fans want to help you succeed. A lot of the fans throw out AWESOME promotional ideas. Check out the forums!! I don't have to tell you how insanely loyal and AWESOME fans that support and promote the show are. All you have to do is see the CW message boards, the thousands of forums devoted to the show, and check out fanfiction.net sometime. There are over 7000 fan fictions devoted to this show, it's second only to buffy of ANY TV show on the website. The show obviously inspires people and stirs emotions in them. I am so excited to see what season 3 has in store for us.

I think everyone before me covered what makes the show so special. The writing, the acting, the directing, and most of all for me the chemistry of the actors that make Sam and Dean Winchester so much more than characters in a script and cookie cutter actors on a primetime TV show.

As for reality shows, I am not against reality shows that are done smartly and in good taste. I understand the budgetary attraction of doing reality shows. It is a hot trend in the network arena, and many times a big success.

Thank you for this opportunity to let you know we the fans are here to help you, and letting us remind you how important the show is to us!
Jenn

Reality shows offer us, as viewers, a twisted sense of reality. This is the same with "scripted programing". The only difference is that programs such as Supernatural, One Tree Hill, and Smallville all do not pretend to be part of the real world. Reality shows do. In my opinion, they lack a certain respect that the storytelling of other shows have. As much as I shamelessly enjoy America's Next Top Model and Beauty and the Geek, if it came down to picking between those two and Supernatural and Smallville, I would pick the latter. Both of those shows are the reason Thursday is my favorite day of the week.

To be honest, the only show I watch is Supernatural. I used to watch Smallville but stopped after Season 5..lost it's appeal..could only take so much of Lana Lang..but Supernatural is by far the most intelligent show on the network with the most talented cast and crew. Reality tv..I never understood it...I have never seen a reality tv show an minute of my time..but to each his own. I hope the CW sticks with more scripted tv...and I'm not sure they will ever find a show that will come close to Supernatural..but they should keep trying.

Personally, I have never been a fan of reality television. I find it is extremely unrealistic, and therefore have never tuned in. However, I know that many people enjoy these programs immensely and as such, it would be wise for the CW to take those ratings into consideration.

When it comes right down to it, though, I tune in for Supernatural. It is my favourite television program, bar none. It has everything I love in a show. It's clever, humourous, a real edge-of-your-seat thriller, and still manages to get right down to the gritty roots of human relationships. Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki step up their game with each episode, and they portray the brothers and their relationship beautifully. The writers and producers dream up creative storylines that keep the fans chomping at the bit for more, and I honestly don't know how I would cope if this amazing show was cancelled. It's literally the only reason I watch TV at all these days!

Well, as someone who lives in the UK, I have no particular loyalty to the CW! However, as an absolute, total obsessive about one show, I have a vested interest in the CW doing well. What show? Well Supernatural of course! What other show has it all? I really don't believe the CW realises what a superb programme they have on their hands. It is beautifully written, deep, intense, funny, sad. It has action, horror, drama and really everything I could ever want in a show. None of which could be achieved without the frankly, astonishing talents of both Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. They were good in Season 1 but Season 2 has seen them reach new heights, really not seen in other shows. The CW should put everything behind this show - it has the potential to reach the same cult status and critical acclaim as The X Files - I can give it no higher praise!

Supernatural is my favorite show and it will return for a 3rd season. With a great cast, and crew, this show is one of the best out there IMO.

I wish Reality TV would be retired by all networks.

AI, ANTM, Survivor, Bachelor, etc: each reality program has different people repeating the same "game", over and over. Dull, boring, tired.

Where's the originality and creativity?

At this time the CW airs the most creatively put together program on TV: Supernatural. Does the CW even realize the gem they have? Due to the lack of promotions, obviously not. SN appeals to a wide demographic. There's a little something for everyone: action, suspense, drama, comedy, chills/thrills, family ties. It's well scripted, well acted and takes me on an emotional journey.

SN is the perfect example of the type of programming that the CW needs: fresh & creative

Without SN, I wouldn't even know what other programs are aired on the CW. From time to time I tune into OTH & SV.

Other programs I tune into, Prison Break, Two & a Half Men & Desperate Housewives. I dropped Grey's Anatomy because I'm addicted to SN. The CW can air SN any day, anytime: I will gladly drop any other program to tune in.

The CW does not need more reality tv shows! It needs more awesome shows like Supernatural.

Supernatural is THE best show on TV on ANY station. In fact it's the ONLY show I watch on a regular basis. I always make sure I have nothing planned for my Thursday night with the Winchester Brothers!

Now if you could get some more shows that have everything the way this show does I'd spend more time watching!

I LOVE Smallville and Supernatural. I've been a Smallville fan for years, and Supernatural has such great writing and a great chemistry between Jensen and Jared. These are the types of shows I want to see!

I am not a fan of Reality TV. They are entertaining for an occasional watch, but the only shows I follow consistently are scripted ones. If you want to build a fan base, I think Scripted TV is the way to go.

Hi, i just wanted to tell you of waht supernatural has done to my life, everyday that isnt thursday, i wake up and say, im one day closer to supernatural, it has been a show about brotherly love and also some bad ass music and ass kicking that appeals to a wide demographic, it has comedy, and drama, brotherly love, and the non mushy stuff. its something that i look forward to all week, just to sit down and watch it every thursday night. people have noticed my free spirited adn happy moods when thursday comes around. and i crave it all the time. if you were to take this show away from me, that would be like taking a child away from its mother. i would probably not watch the CW anymore, thats for sure, and the light spirited glorious katie that people get to see on thursdays would be gone. please renew this show, i would be eternally grateful and forever indebted to the CW. thats just me putting in my two sence.

I abhor Reality TV. I never watch it. I watch the CW for only one show ... Supernatural. It it doesn't come back for another season I won't be watching this network at all.

I say this in earnest because this show touches the emotional core of what it is to be a family. The two brothers only have each other, so that makes them fight extremely hard to protect each other. I find this deeply moving and even tune in for re-runs.

Although personally I tune in for the scripted shows (yeah, another devoted Supernatural fan here ^^) I think the CW, like any network, needs a range of different products for different timeslots and audiences. You wouldn't show a scripted drama with adult and horror themes (like Supernatural for example) in a tea time slot when kids might be watching, but you might want to show Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll then (I know my 12 year old loves it!).

However, I do feel the reality genre is getting a bit old, as if we've seen it all before. Innovative reality shows seem to be thin on the ground, which is reasonable when you think about it: there are only so many ideas.

The CW should look at all their output, figure out what they do best, see what's getting the most interest, then find ways to keep doing those things and more of them. There's no reason that the good quality scripted shows and reality-based shows can't continue to happily co-exist - just up the quality! (And fund the marketing department... I keep telling my friends to watch Supernatural and they haven't heard of it! Criminal... *g*)

Although reality shows are cheaper to produce they don't give the network any credibility or offer much oprutunity for reruns, sydication or DVD sales.

I think the furture of the network lies in it's scripted dramas. Shows like Supernatural and Veronica Mars already have a devoted fanbase and have brought critical acclaim to the network.

I HATE REALITY TV. I want shows that have a story and interesting characters. SUPERNATURAL is a show like that. It takes a lot for me to even watch tv because everything on is reality-based junk. In fact the only show I watch is Supernatural, if it goes off the air I won't be watching anything. Supernatural should be renewed for many seasons. Get rid of the shows past their prime like 7th Heaven and Gilmore Girls. To sum up KEEP SUPERNATURAL ON!

*I like Supernatural
*I love Supernatural
*Supernatural is a show
*I love Jared Padalecki!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SAVE SUPERNATURAL!!!!!!!
PLEASE!!!

I personally tune in every week for Supernatural, and I really think that unique, plot-driven shows like it, Smallville, Gilmore Girls, and the like are your bread and butter. I know that reality TV is popular right now, and there's countless ideas to draw from, but it seems to me like it's a quick, short-lived commodity, and so in the end, a lot of money is put into something that's not going to last; Top Model has been a noted exception. I'm really pulling for Supernatural to get renewed for next season, and honestly, I'll do whatever I can to support the CW in order to shows like this continue to be given a chance, and I know there are others who feel the same. Let us know how we can help!

I'm mystified by the popularity of Reality TV. Stick with shows like Supernatural - great acting, quality writing, impressive direction - it's shows like this that will keep the CW from developing a reputation for trash TV.

23years old female from N.L., México, just for the record.
When I watch television, I like watching shows that make me think, if there's nothing of that kind available at the time, I just turn to the closest Discovery Channel type of channel available. While I've watched my fair bit of reality television, it's a genre that was interesting only when it began and wasn't all over the place. Pretty much all of those shows follow the same line: "bunch of people who want to be famous/want money >> they are all living together >> challenge >> someone is eliminated >> they cry" repeat until someone wins... At first it was interesting to see how people reacted on those kind of situations, but it's gotten old with the time. This kind of shows do not want us to think, which is something people this days need; we are just expected to sit in front of the tv, laugh or cry depending or the situation, and when the show ends, turn off the tv and go on without having something stay with us.
Maybe I'm in a minority, but curiosity is very important nowadays, there's a great feeling on watching a show and, when it ends, stay at the tv for a couple of minutes thinking about what just happened; then comes a need to run to the nearest internet-enabled computer and start investigating on something new that appeared on the show. After a couple of searches, you end up learning something new. Now THAT'S what we need, to learn something everyday; not to be mindless beings.
While reality television might be good in the short run, I don't think there are a lot of people that, after watching a show like America's Next Top Model, will like to run and buy the previous seasons. With shows like Supernatural, Veronica Mars and Smallville, there's that "something" that makes you want to buy previous seasons; that may be because scripted shows are made with far more relatable characters, and they are basically the same over the seasons. In reality tv, every season it's different people but in the same old situations, there's really not time to care about them, while in scripted show, one grows to love the characters.
I may watch several shows religiously, but only a few of them make me want to tell people about them. Supernatural is one of those shows. I started watching a couple episodes before the first season ended, and started becausewhile I'm a scaredy cat, I love everything, paranormal/supernatural. It was the name that attracted, me. After watching an episode, I liked Sam, but more important, I liked the plot. The next episode, Dean became interesting, and I was hooked. In only two episodes! Usually it takes an entire season to accomplish that! Then I became a fan, I leave everything aside to watch the show (and the rerun xD) and care about the characters like never before. And yes, i'm saving to buy the first season. Yesterday i saw it on rent, and my mother suggested that I rented it, watched it and leave it like that, my response? "I can't! I HAVE" to buy it!" It's not an I've watched it I've forgot about it thing, it became part of me.
Also? The fanbase is the greatest one I've ever been so involved into.

I'd ask you at CW first of all to please recognize the great boon you have in the fan-bases of your scripted shows.

In particular (and under the circumstances, I don't think this can be stressed enough), please note Supernatural, a show which has suffered an appalling lack of promotion- and yet has a following of rabid and obsessive fans (I use these terms with the utmost affection and respect, you understand, being one myself), as great in their devotion to the show as the x-Philes and Buffy fans before them. This show should be seeing far more air time than it is currently- both with repeat time-slots and advertising features, because (as has been said before) a show of this quality, with this draw, could do for CW what the x-files did for Fox.

I am a great advocate of scripted-ness in general though. Although Smallville runs a little bit juvenile for my tastes, I still can't stop watching it simply on the merit of it being a super-hero show, with a reasonably high quotient of explosions per episode and a suitably twisted conspiracy-arc. The writing and acting don't measure up to Supernatural (or even Veronica Mars, I'm told) but such things as explosions can still carry a show, apparently...

SUPERNATURAL!!!! its the best show on here! we want season 3!!

I don't understand why reality shows are so popular. The only one that that's even remotely worth watching is ANTM.

Scripted shows, like Supernatural are the way to go. In fact, Supernatural is the only CW show that I watch. It's well written, well acted while delivering laughs and scares week after week.

I love Supernatural more than any show on any network. It's really obviously that a lot of time is put into that show to make it great.

I personally don't like reality TV much at all.

If ANTM and The Pussycat Doll's reality shows are so great, and reality tv is in the CW's future why aren't those the shows going up against CSI and Grey's Anatomy? Maybe if the other shows on the CW got some decent marketing (*cough* Veronica Mars) that portrayed the show as what it was it would attract the right type of viewer who would stay and become a fan.

i dont understand why people love reality shows so much! gosh, its so trashy, cheap and uncreative. though there are some that are really good, like AI and ANTM, most are a disgrace to TV and the networks.

i'm starting to hate the CW for sacrificing their main shows like OTH for a lame reality show. i'm starting to loose my interest in this network and its other shows.

I think Reality show can be entertaining if we don't drown ouselves in it! Like Watching The pussycat dolls, i'd rather drink all night long thanks!!
But please keep the scripted shows!!
One Tree Hill and Veronica Mars Rocks

Supernatural, Supernatural, supernatural - I just can't say it enough!

*Nods*

I'm gettin' tired with REALITY programs that are not so reality at all~ >.< and I'm freakin' tired watching fake smiles fake tears.. that oh so bla bla bla~ the bottom line is~ I hate that...

Scripted works are always the best.. therefore I want SUPERNATURAL continues until more than 10 season!

For a network that launched with a FREE TO BE campaign you think that you'd embrace your own concept. You want to build this network with superior programming, right?

Be FREE TO BE ORIGINAL.

Every other network on TV is chocked full of reality TV. [Why anyone has any interest in reality TV to begin with completely baffles me. But to each their own.] Some people like that, but others don't. Judging by the comments here I'm gonna say that the majority of your viewers don't want to see this network become just another network geared to reality tv.

Instead give more press to the shows that your fans love like the highly underrated SUPERNATURAL. This show can make the CW a success like Buffy did for the WB. That is if you'd get your heads out of your asses and make the effort to do so. The writing, the acting... everything about the show is superior to anything else that the network hosts. And the chemistry between Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki is nothing to be compared with. A gem like this only comes around once and if you let it go you'll be kicking your asses while the fandom laughs at/mocks you.

And really. Why does there need to be a 7th Pussycat Doll anyway? Six was plenty and six too much.

CW should be proud of Supernatural. It is a very well-made, well-acted show, and it's getting better all the time. I consider it a travesty that more people aren't watching it.

As for reality shows... I think they are the dregs of television. I don't believe they're as popular as they once were, either. I'd really like to think that they are on their way out.

For the love of God. Please save Supernatural. Fandoms are huge and fans are screaming to keep the show on air. Television reality shows are good but they're getting painfully old and are becoming seriously so last season. Shows like Supernatural never die out and have been nothing but a success to the audiance so far. I would be wiling to shave my head just to keep it on air..

SAVE SUPERNARURAL. FOR THE LOVE OF ME AND THE PUBLIC AND GOD HIMSELF.

I have to say that scripted shows would most certainly win my viewing. I could really care less about the phoniness of "reality" shows, and things like the next top model are just ... geez, I don't even understand what audience that is geared for.

Shows like "Supernatural", however, are intelligent, entertaining, amusing, horrifying, thought-provoking, and most of all, they inspire people to tell others about them. I didn't even know about "Supernatural" until a friend of my from the Lord of the Rings fandom told me about it. A couple viewings, and I am hooked! That's how shows win ratings. Not because some movie critic says something, but because fans want a good story and want their friends to share it with them. Reality shows may inspire a bit of gossip ... but a good, scripted show inspires an entire universe of fan involvement that no reality show can touch. So ... them's my thoughts! :-)
Cheers ~

Erin

I am guilty from watching reality shows from time to time but I never miss my favorite scripted dramas like One Tree Hill, Grey's Anatomy, and Friday Night Lights. Please, no more reality shows that give some people five minutes of fame. I love following characters through their written journeys and I am intrigued at how everything ties together.

There's really something compelling about Supernatural. A lot of it is the chemistry between the 2 leads, but come on. How can you NOT see that it's fanbase parallels the most avid fans in history. BUFFY, STARGATE SG1, X-FILES and, the #1 example - STAR TREK. Ask NBC how they feel to this day about the decision to cancel that "little" space opera. Chemistry is elusive, Jared and Jenson HAVE IT IN SPADES.

I think that reality shows are a disgrace to society. People don’t want to watch others trying to become models when they think themselves they are not beautiful. Or people don’t want to watch other people look like fools on tv. Reality shows are completely a waste of time to make and to watch. When watching shows like Supernatural I feel like it should be with reality, like im in the show. When you are in the show so much while watching it and then something big happens you are like “OH MAN THAT WAS INCREDIBLE” or “I DIDN’T SEE THAT COMING AT ALL.” Unlike reality shows all you feel when you watch them is that it just keeps going and going and going, the same thing happens over and over and over each season. You can seriously just watch the last episode of the season of the reality show and know what happened the whole season from that last episode. Its boring and I would rather read an intelligent book than watch that crap.

With Supernatural there are portions of the show that actually have a true background to them. I’ve went and looked up some of the things that have appeared on SN and been excited to know that it actually exists, or has a good mythological story to it. Now tell me one thing you learn from watching reality shows other than how to supposedly survive on an island and it basically looks like the same island every season. Try surviving in the cold for once. And also learning how to walk down a runway which doesn’t help you if you aren’t tall enough. I think that Supernatural and Smallville are the only shows keeping The CW afloat. The new CW station just started, you cant expect to have huge ratings yet and getting rid of Supernatural will only kill the station in the end, if not the hundreds of reality shows that are on TV now. For once forget the stupid ratings and think of the dedicated fans that scripted shows carry.

Scripted shows are farrrr better than reality shows. Yeah reality shows are fun to watch sometimes, but they all end up being the same. Please dont make the CW total reality show programming .. We love our scripted show, especially One Tree Hill!=)

Definitely stay away from reality shows. I cannot stress how little they interest me: female, 29, Illinois for your demographics people.

Keep your great scripted shows (Supernatural!) and create new scripted shows.

Honestly, I watch both Reality and Scripted shows on the CW. I enjoy both genres, but only on this network...funnily enough. However, if I had to pick only one kind of show on the CW, I would pick a scripted show. AND, if I had to only pick one show...it would be Supernatural.

Say no to reality! Unfortunately that's the only thing that the CW thinks will help them survive in the television world. They don't need more reality shows, what they need is good scripted shows that will grab an audience and make them see that not all CW shows are crappy tv. They also need to learn how to advertise better the "Free to be..." campaign was really a turn off for many people. The advertisements for the next episodes Supernatural are the best I've seen in years! and maybe if they advertise that way with all their shows they'll get them to watch the CW.

If I didn't want to use my brain to try and figure things out I would watch shows like AI and Dancing With The Stars. Scripted shows are far better in quality and entertainment then trashy reality shows. Supernatural, Smallville, Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill, Veronica Mars are far better because they seem a lot more realistic then shows like ANTM and FNSD.

Reality shows, good to have a couple is okay but the minute a network has more then the scripted shows then that is sad. Maybe Supernatural should go to NBC and see if they'd by Supernatural away from the CW after the third season and see what happens to the network. Because really almost all the shows are gone this season or next season.

I am not a fan of VM or OTH but would watch either of those over some silly non-real reality show.

Reality TV is trash--TRASH! The popularity of reality TV has alwasy astounded me. I honestly believe reality TV is made popular by the same sickos that rubberneck accidents in hopes of seeing a dead body. Hey TV execs, how about trying something really cutting edge, like eveloping and promoting more quality shows--like Supernatural (the ONLY decent show on the entire network, or any network for that matter).

I've been thinking about what reality television shows that perform well in the ratings have in common. Shows like Dancing With the Stars, American Idol, and America's Next Top Model promise to give fair feedback, both positive and negative, to their contests. There may be drama, but the drama is the natural drama of being stuck with the same people week after week, and it's rarely exploited or manufactured. These are the reality shows that flourish, year after year -- not negative, catty programming like The Search for the Next Doll (which is slipping a little every week).

People watch reality TV to be transported out of their lives, to believe that as average Americans they have the chance to achieve extraordinary things. The audience that wants to watch men and women tearing each other apart are far fewer than the people who watch reality television to have fun and feel good.

So, for the reality programming I admit you do need to schedule to help pay the bills, I recommend not going with trashy TV. Two of the top three shows on television, American Idol and Dancing With the Stars, and the CW's top show, America's Next Top Model, are definitively not trashy shows. They’re shows that succeeded on their style and class. There’s absolutely no reason to drag the CW brand in the mud, because it doesn’t carry with it the promise of ratings.

The only shows I watch on the CW are Smallville and the very underrated and underhyped Supernatural. I believe Supernatural is one of the best shows on the air today. The acting is far superior than what is on most of television. While I understand the financial aspect to reality programming, I believe it is high quality scripted programming (like Supernatural) that would make the CW a success.

Please bring Supernatural for at least one for season. It's honestly your best show.

I hate reality shows! I'm sorry, but I do. I do not and will not watch them. Couldn't air time be better served by bringing in shows that don't scrape the bottom of the IQ barrel?
I prefer shows like Supernatural. It's fun to watch, I get a kick out of the mythology and urban legends they use. The actors (Jensen and Jarod) have a good rapport, and it comes across in their characters. I hope this does get renewed for next season, and as for the reality shows...kick em' to the curb...please!!!

I think the emphasis should be quality programming. I'm not really interested in reality tv. I don't watch American Idol, Survivor, or the Amazing Race. I do occasionally watch some reality shows (Top Model, Top Chef, Project Runway) but it's because I enjoy their focus on creativity. I hate the manufactured "drama" that always seems to accompany realtiy shows.

I love a well made TV show - one that challenges me as a viewer, makes me think and feel. I've found that the genre is nowhere near as important as the quality. I'm not really interested in sci-fi or fantasy, but I love Supernatural. I don't like teen soap operas, but Friday Night Lights is the best hour I can spend in front of the tv. I don't care if you've got fifty different types of programs, as long as they're excellent, compelling and entertaining.

Reality TV is Trash TV. It's mindless television fixed for the cameras.

I refuse to watch it, I would rather watch The History channel than that trash.

I prefer shows that challenge the mind and make you think. Which is one of the reasons I love Supernatural.

Not only is there a great story line, that actually works your brain and makes you think. But the acting is one of the best on Television I have seen.

So please do not add more reality TV to the mix. If you really want to stand out more, add more quality scripted series. That will generate buzz for the Network. And keep those that are working well for you.

Ger rid of OTH, Gilmore Girls, 7 Heaven. (I do believe their time has come)

Keep Supernatural, Smallville and Veronica Mars.

I have to agree with the other posters here in that reality TV is NOT the way to go. It is more of an annoyance when I turn on the television and all that is on is ridiculous people in ridiculous situations that they call "reality." I want drama, storylines, and characters. I vote for Supernatural, because it gives the thrills and great storyline that I want. I don't want to know what other people are doing or how crazy they can be. I want a STORY. I want something that I can engage in and be entertained by. Supernatural is what I want the CW to go for. We don't have enough of this on the air.

I'm going to say what practically everyone else is saying: Tone down on reality tv and give us the sripted shows that keeps us hooked.

Also, one would be blind not to take the hint about Supernatural - it's one of the few things that's keeping the network alive. Supernatural has really gained a formidable fanbase, and they're all screaming to be heard.

Yes, isn't it clear, we love the show to bits.

I'll be honest: I watch reality TV.

But if you want to ask me WHY I watch it, it's not because it's engrossing, it's not a 'guilty pleasure,' and it's not because I'm invested in it in any way, shape or form. I watch reality TV because I have no other options.

I get that networks like reality TV shows because they're cheaper and all, but it's such a cop-out. There's only so much you can do with a reality TV show before it bites the dust.

The CW is a relatively new television network, so I think the best course of action would be trying to develop a loyal viewer base. Right now, I watch more CW than anything else. Supernatural and Veronica Mars are AMAZING shows, and because of them, I now watch Gilmore Girls and Smallville as well.

Reality TV has been losing popularity for awhile. Rather than jumping on a bandwagon headed straight for a cliff, the CW should try to be progressive and look for the next new thing.

I truly believe that, given enough time and advertising, Veronica Mars and Supernatural will be the network's anchors within a couple years.

I think that reality shows can be okay, but only in small doses. ANTM is a decent show, but come on do the winners really become top models. No, some of them are never heard from again. If the CW wants to establish it's self as a quality network it needs to have quality show like Supernatural and the Gilmore Girls.

Supernatural is the best show in the CW right now, followed by Veronica Mars. Supernatural needs to be given a third season because it has amazing story lines that move at a decent pace each week. They give answers top question that were brought up earlier in the season. They don't keep you hanging on waiting forever for answers. Its the kind of show the CW needs. It can do for the CW what the X-Files did for Fox.

The only thing I watch on the CW is the show Supernatural. It is an excellent show that deserves to be on the air. My friend and I only watch the CW for Supernatural. We don't watch any of the reality shows and wouldn't watch any of the new.

I like Supernatural.

It rocks!

Not only a great show. But what other place would you find such good brother/family dynamics all wrapped up in a action packed X-files type adventure each week.

Definitely I would say renew Supernatural.

I have nothing against reality programming being available for those who like it. But the argument I hear for increasing it at the cost of other non-reality shows (e.g. the absolutely amazing Veronica Mars) is that there's simply a bigger demand for reality tv, and other shows should follow or get out of the way. I disagree. I think there's room for both, and hope that enough channels will keep high quality scripted shows like Veronica Mars around that there is still something for those who prefer them to watch. Otherwise, there are people like me who will turn off the tv, not because they want other people's reality shows eliminated, but because they'd like their preference for scripted shows to get a sliver of respect too, and because I'm simply not interested in one more hour of competitive dating "reality" or similar, and can find better things to do than tune in. It is when there is something I can't find on 50 other channels that I come to your network, excited - and that happens for shows like Veronica Mars and Supernatural, not just for me, but for many other viewers as one can tell by the postings here.

There will always be a wide range of tastes and preferences regarding entertainment - ideally, all of them will get some attention. While I know that common sense and financial costs will both come into the equation as far as how attention and resources get distributed, it would be great if no one was shut out completly. Plus, reality show spin off ideas are losing a lot of freshness - how many spin offs are they going to make out of Flavor of Love, which, when it first debuted, set a new low standard for trashiness? Sure, there's demand for more raunchy reality and more gorey horror movies, and there's no point in trying to shut that down and eliminate it - there will always be a lower standard considering that public executions and torture used to be viewed as public entertainment. But just because the envelope can always be pushed lower doesn't mean that it can't be pushed in other directions too.

Again, please leave something on the air for the rest of us, even if we're not always the majority. This forum shows there is love and support for your scripted shows too. These people are your viewers too, and highly capable of loyalty and support for your network as well as their shows, and will be thrilled to be included in what has proved so far to be an interesting new network with a lot of potential. Let us come along on the ride too - we'll all enjoy the benefits.

My preference would be to have television programming that are shows rather than reality television. I feel reality television is glutting the market, and although vaguely amusing is not at all why I turn on the TV.

I vote for more Supernatural.

Supernatural is a show I thoroughly enjoy and is my escape from reality.

Oh, please don't add more reality television. Looking at the top 18 shows on television at the moment, 13 are scripted dramas and only 5 are reality shows. (http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/1,1002,272%7C%7C%7Cweekly,00.html)

I think this shows pretty clearly that Americans are getting sick of reality television. Also, the only reality shows that are succeeding are not the trashy ones like you are suggesting, but ones that involve music (Idol and Dancing With the Stars) or giving away large sums of money (Deal or No Deal and Survivor). People are sick of the trash.

Like others have said before me, CW right now has the reputation for being a juvenile channel. By heavy promoting shows that come become cult classics and by giving edgy scripted dramas a chance they wouldn't have on the major networks, CW can greatly improve it's reputation and its viewership. I used to watch 7th Heaven and Gilmore Girls and Smallville and Veronica Mars before they went bad (in my opinion).

Supernatural is the only show right now that I watch on CW, and I hope you keep it and introduce more great new shows like it in the fall.

I barely watch tv. I didn't watch any before my friends got me hooked on Supernatural. The recent trends in television (reality tv, tv pandering to people who couldn't hold an intelligent conversation about anything if their life depended on it) disgust me. And if the above comments are any indicator, there are tons of people like me out there who hate reality tv and are impressed by the potential of certain scripted dramas like Supernatural. I watch tv for the uncommon, not the infighting and sniping I could get easily in everyday life by taking a trip to the mall and watching teenagers be idiots. Supernatural has characters we (the fans) care about, speculate about, drool over, lament. Despite being in the hardest timeslot on tv, the show has done pretty well. Why sacrifice that for more forgettable reality shows? What you need are more interesting, intelligent, different shows which will create a fanbase that will spread the word, like Supernatural. Marketing those scripted shows sure wouldn't hurt, either. I've been consistently disappointed with the marketing Supernatural has gotten versus Americas Next Top Model, etc. The ratings it has gotten in it's terrible timeslot are clearly due to dedicated fans spreading the word, not any marketing campaign done by the network. I just shared my season one dvds with friends who are now hooked on the mytharc and plan to watch season two. If the CW steps up it's marketing for great shows like this one, it will gain a lot more respect than by padding it's schedule full of reality shows.

More reality programming. Please no. Scripted programs with characters, message and theme please. Or at least entertainment.

I want more shows like Supernatural with engaging stars, interesting plot lines, and something for my back brain to think about.

Veronica Mars is the only show I watch on the cw. I think there is a lot of us out there that would be heartbroken if the show was canceled. Reality programming is so lazy.

SUPERNATURAL!!! Supernatural is not only my fav show on the CW, it is my fav show on TV period.
I have also watched Smallville since it began and still enjoy it very much. I would like to see both these scripted dramas return to the line-up next fall.
I also watch Top Model occassionally. I would like to see a round once in a while for male models - same format w/ Tyra and a guest male model judge.
Last season, I think, there was a reality show I liked w/ Faye Dunaway looking for a starlet -- I should say I started out liking it and then sort of lost interest. I think the idea bears exploration --I love American Idol because I get to vote. An actor search where we get to vote would be fun. AI format, both guys and girls, untalented weeded out by judges and finalists voted on by us, top finalists get to be the victim of the week on Supernatural or meteor freak of the week on Smallville, winner gets a recurring role on One Tree Hill? Then you get to do tie in publicity to the scripted shows. I dunno, I think it would be cool.
One last thought -- SUPERNATURAL is the reason I watch any CW at all!!!

I don't watch reality shows.. so boring!!!

I really love One Tree Hill and Supernatural so please save these shows!!

Veronica Mars is not bad.. but season 1 was better!

As an Australian viewer, not much of your reality TV makes it over here, and what does is usually in the low ratings slots (afternoon, late night) or on cable. Shows like Supernatural or Veronica Mars are the ones that sell on (and on and on), and that we get to see over here. More please!

I think The CW has just the right amount of reality shows right now. Any more and the network will be seriously cheapened. I've always preferred the scripted shows. In particular, I am infatuated with Supernatural. The story line is always interesting and up-to-date, and Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles work beautifully together. The humor, the sondtrack, the mystery, the thrills, the drama, and the main character's charisma drive this series and make it something truly valuable. I really (really, really) hope it comes back for an excellent 3rd season!
In my years of watching the WB/CW, I've also been a fan of Smallville and Gilmore Girls, though I've been pretty iffy on them both, lately. For a long time - I guess last season and during the earlier part of this one - I refused to watch either show, but recently they've been getting better, and I've been making an effort to tune in. I hope they continue to get back to the level they were a couple of years ago.
Overall, though, my point is that the shows that really give the CW substance are of the scripted variety (its the reality shows that make people scoff when I tell them my favorite show is on this network). I agree with a few other comments, that these shows deserve better marketing, especially Supernatural. It seems like an almost purposeful oversight that SN is one of the only CW shows without its own official MySpace, for example.
Thank you for you consideration!

I am so sick of reality tv.. I would much rather see scripted dramas.. Supernatural in my opinion is the greatest show on tv!! I definetly think the network should focus on having really great scripted dramas like Supernatural in it's line-up as opposed to reality shows..

I can understand the impulse to do more reality TV, especially after the success of ANTM and Beauty and the Geek. The problem, I think, is that reality TV has a very short shelf-life. I'd bet almost anything that DVDs for ANTM Season 1 (is there even such a thing?) aren't selling at anything near the rate of DVDs for OTH. Reality shows may pick up big numbers in the short run, but it's the scripted dramas that can be sold in long-run merchandising plans, and into sydication. Those two important revenue sources shouldn't be overlooked, and the only way to get to that point is to run quality dramas for long enough that they build an audience and enough material to syndicate. So I think the CW shouldn't lean it's schedule too reality-heavy. They've got to give new (and current) scripted shows a chance to find good scripted shows, and they've got to find good scripted shows to keep the network healthy in the long-run.

I will admit at this point that I'm a little biased. I think VMars and Supernatural are the best thing to hit the network, wlthough I do have a morbid fascination with ANTM. Given the choice, I'd pick the scripts over the raging beauty queens, though, and I fear that viewers will pick scripted shows on other networks over a too-reality-heavy CW schedule.

Reality shows have seen their day. As have cheesy sitcoms. The only way the CW is going to stay alive and thrive is to buck the trends, and keep out of the pop culture catch-up cycle. Pick the shows that have the fan support, and support them, regardless of whether they are a format that the current zeitgeist says is 'in', because today's 'in' is tomorrows 'out'.

The CW is currently producing some of the most original dramatic programming on television today, even though the viewing numbers for the network may be low, these are shows which have a solid core of viewers who are avidly promoting their favorite shows not only to all their friends, but to publications that cover the media.

The way I think the CW needs to go, is to support the shows that have avid viewer support, (and I'm so certain you can tell which ones those are that I'm not going to name them), continue producing unique dramas with original concepts, and not churn out another batch of cookie-cutter reality shows to try and ride a waning trend.

Be the swell behind the pop-culture wave. Don't get caught in the reality-show undertow.

I used to really enjoy reality shows like America's Next Top Model, but for the past few years, I just can't get into it anymore. It's the same stuff over and over and I've just completely lost any interest in them. I honestly don't like reality shows very much, and the thought of 17 of them on one channel is actually somewhat disturbing.

All of that being said, I rarely watch TV these days beyond basketball, Food Network or old re-runs of great shows like The X-Files or mindless stuff like Family Guy. And usually then it's just background noise--nothing I pay attention to or could care less if I see or not.

The only thing that week after week I sit down to watch is Supernatural. It's a great show and I'm not sure there are even words to describe what a fantastic piece of work the CW has managed to produce. Not only do I faithfully watch the show, I actually buy the merchandise like the DVDs. If Supernatural doesn't get renewed for a third season, I will pretty much lose faith in television networks and their ability to discern good from bad. I hope the show is recognized for what is worth.

CWtv honestly should NOT become a reality network. CW already has a mixture of shows that are great! It has a combination of things and I love all the shows!
Veronica Mars a teenage PI, with an epic story behind her crazy life, One tree hill, omg!? you're small town drama! (it's sooo, soo much better than the OC btw). Everyone here is CRAZY for OTH, literally we'll be in the locker room's changing and screaming about what happened the night before on OTH, amazing huh? and Smallville.. Do i even have to say? Gilmore Girls, Supernatural, ANTM. Each of the shows has it's own storyline and drama to it and it's all amazing. It gives you life in different prospectives and it's honestly without a doubt it's amazing! When CW becomes a reality network that's when it'll get boring, like seriously all the reality shows are boring now. I mean there were good ones a few you back now it's just dumb, typical expected things that ALWAY happen in reality shows. CW is absolutely good the way it is, don't change it up. Improve it without swapping into an all new reality channel

CW needs less reality, more drama. The network needs shows that are going to last, not flash in the pan reality crap that no one is going to remember in a few years, and that's being generous.

The WB was known for the great dramas it produced: Buffy, Angel, Roswell, Dawson's Creek, Felicity, I can go on.

The CW needs that same sort of legacy if it expects to survive. They should be nurturing the great shows they have right now: Supernatural, Veronica Mars, etc...and trying to find new shows to help establish them as a network worth watching.

I think a lot of people have it spot on when they say not to turn The CW into another reality channel. The reality channel already exists, so we don't need another one. I think you can probably have a healthy mixture of both in order to bring in the needed income to run a network and to attract advertisers without becoming another MTV. It’s a running joke these days when someone says, “Remember when MTV used to play music videos?” I’d hate for the network to become another running joke “Remember when The CW used to have actual television shows?”

I think you have something really fantastic, fresh, entertaining, witty and interesting with Supernatural, which is the best thing CW has going for it right now. I would never buy DVD sets for any of these reality shows, but I have bought the DVD set for Supernatural’s first season. I’ve pre-ordered the comic book. I’ll buy the novels that come out. And I’ll definitely buy the season 2 DVDs whenever they come out.

My point is, Buffy DVD sets are still selling at a premium price after all these years, and that is due to the quality of that program. I believe Supernatural has the same potential to be a huge hit for the network. The writing is intelligent, funny and compelling. The acting is fantastic and absolutely believable. There have been more than a few instances where I didn’t want to sleep without a light on because an episode gave me the chills. Fantastic!

But The CW has to get behind its shows, too. I don’t see the same level of marketing and advertising for Supernatural like I see for these reality shows and I think that’s a disservice to everyone that works on that show. It’s a disservice to the viewers that tune in every week to catch episodes whether they’re new or repeats.

Put Supernatural in a better time slot. Invest in marketing for that show because there is a lot of support for it. Renew it for another season or few. There are so many directions it can go and it hasn’t become stale or predictable. That’s what keeps me coming back because I really can’t tell where the Winchesters will end up. Isn’t that what quality television is all about? Entertainment and suspense? That story is nowhere near finished and I truly hope The CW gives everyone a chance to see where it can go. We’ll love every minute of speculation, anxiety and sitting on the edge of our seats to see what happens next, I promise you.

Renew Supernatural and focus your efforts on quality scripted programming. Yes, you can have your reality shows, but don’t throw some very excellent shows to the butcher block in order to make room for the next forgettable reality show. I mean, who really remembers the winners of ANTM anyway?

I don't get obsessed with a lot of shows, but I am obsessed with Supernatural. I haven't talked to anyone who's seen it and not liked it, even people who don't usually like that sort of thing. It's exciting and emotional and intelligent, and Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are so charismatic.

I hardly watch reality shows, they tend to be mindless and repetitive.

Reality shows, in all honesty, bore me. I don't enjoy watching "regular" people doing things they normally wouldn't do in real life. I don't see the entertainment value at all.

Scripted shows like Supernatural, however, I fall into and enjoy immensely. I like to see how plotlines play out, how character is developed and used to further conflict and relationship interaction. Supernatural is a brilliantly written show, and I personally think the CW would do well to bring more quality scripted shows on board.

Please, renew Supernatural for a third season!!!

Please no more reality shows! You've got two completely outstanding shows on your network right now: Supernatural and Veronica Mars.

Both star incredibly talented casts, amazing writers and awesome effects.

Another quick comment--Allison Mack is such a fantastic actress. She's the sole reason I keep watching Smallville!

In summation: Supernatural, Veronica Mars and Allison Mack!

Thanks!!

come on! SUPERNATURAL rulz!
here in Brazil a lot of people like it
someone already said that in orkut there is a community of "Supernatural Br" that have 47.590members! that's a lot of people! and we all love SP!
im always seen the news episods, and i hope to see a 3season!!

SUPERNATURAL! 3SEASON!!!

The thought of more "reality" tv just sickens me. Seriously, the whole thing got old after the first year. It's trash tv, appealing to the lowest common denominator. If the CW wants to be taken seriously, they shouldn't bog themselves down with trashy shows that no one will remember in a year.

I'm going to add my voice to all those pleading for Supernatural to be renewed. It is one of the best tv shows I have ever seen, and I don't say that lightly. No series is free from flaws, but Supernatural has such amazing actors and incredible storylines. It has a hugely loyal fanbase and is well on it's way to becoming a cult classic like The X-Files or Buffy, as others have said.

Quality scripted shows are the ones that people will remember, that people will really care about. They're the ones that will have staying power, for things like syndication and DVD sales.

Please, draw viewers in with quality, not with trash!

I would have to say I'd love to see more scripted shows, like Supernatural. Supernatural is really the only show I watch on the network, although I do also watch Smallville and ANTM when I can, but I don't make sure I'm in front of the TV for it like I do with Supernatural.
Supernatural has such a great thing going. It's got fantasy, humor, action, and drama - all the htings I like. Jensen and Jared have such great chemistry, and the crew obviously does an amazing job. Kripke is a genius and Sera Gamble has written some awesome episodes. The myth-arc in the show is fun and intriguing, as well as the fact that you can watch just one show by itself and not necessarily feel that you've missed too much, although it makes you want to watch the show more often.
It's just an overall amazing show and I'm almost ecstatic with how well it's doing up against the top 2 shows during the week, so good luck to the boys and the crew!!

I never watch the reality shows. I watch Supernatural, Gilmore Girls, and Smallville.

I don't really like reality shows. I've watched a few episodes of a few here and there, but haven't liked them at all. I'm not at all interested in watching people behave like idiots or be all mean to each other or whatever.

Supernatural is my favorite show right now. I'll be crushed if it doesn't have a season 3.

The two best shows on the CW right now are definitley Supernatural and Veronica Mars. Sadly, like always, Veronica Mars is being looked over. Maybe it's because, although it's an amazing show, it really doesn't lend itself to fanfiction, and is therefore lacking a bit in fandom. However, the Supernatural fandom probably the greatest I've been in, and if that show gets canceled, the network will have a lot of screaming and crying fans on their hands... maybe even more so than when Angel was canceled (I'm still mad at you guys about that, by the way!). There should really be more shows like those two - shows with funny yet heart wrenching writing, shows with over-the-top plots that somehow make perfect sense, shows that are actually more than stupid teen dramas.

CW, don't invest in more reality shows. ANTM is lovely and all, but reality shows in general make me want to puke a little.

I really, really want the CW to bring Supernatural back for another season. The characters and the stories are so compelling - and that's what I want from TV. The writing is so fantastic and there's no other show like it at all.

Top Model is fun for light viewing (yes, I admit it, I'm addicted to it), but stories are why I watch TV and Supernatural is, without a doubt, my favorite show right now. It's been SO fantastic in its first two seasons and with such an amazing team working on it, I'm sure it can only get better.

I don't understand why the CW would want to focus on reality shows when it has scripted shows that are so good. Reality shows insult our intelligence. Stick to shows like Supernatural - the highlight of my week, and pretty much the best show on TV these days. It's the only show I watch regularly, the only show I've ever loved to the point of fanaticism. If the CW drops Supernatural in favour of new reality shows (honestly, aren't there enough of those on TV already?) I firmly believe it will be shooting itself in the foot. What other show could do so well against CSI and Grey's Anatomy? Do they really think that a crappy new reality show is going to be able to stand up to the quality of the amazingly scripted relationship between the Winchester brothers?

Girlfriends and Everybody Hates Chris are two wonderful shows I have watched a lot...there is a lot of Supernatural talk but the network is doing a fine job keeping those two around.

I watch very little, if any, reality tv. While I understand that such shows can be an inexpensive way to draw an audience, for many viewers, reality shows are just not as engaging as scripted shows.

For instance, Supernatural. I love this show. I haven't been as engaged in a show and it's fandom since Buffy. I will be very disappointed and saddened if it is not renewed.

Again, I understand the need for reality tv, but it is my hope that The CW will be able to balance that out with well-scripted shows, like Supernatural.

Thank you for listening.

The best show on TV and on this network by far is Supernatural. Spend time promoting it and give it a better timeslot instead of developing more horrible reality shows. If it doesn't get a 3rd season, it doesn't matter what shows are on your network because I won't be watching.

I honestly think that a lot of reality shows are jokes and when you have a network that is reality heavy then there is a potential for that network to become, well, kind of hard to take seriously. Once that happens the scripted shows won't be given enough consideration by the average American home.

Reality shows are generally about people who want to break into the entertainment industry (whether it's the show's premise or not) and will do anything for that, so they become caricatures and God-awful stereotypes, while everyone points and laughs. Two of those will do. Although TV is an escape it should be remembered that it is allowed to be intelligent... enter House, Ugly Betty and Supernatural.

I think The CW did a great job picking up Supernatural for so many reasons. The music...ahhh the music. No Snow Patrol in earshot!! Anyway, the writing is creative and enjoyable. I think ideas for each episode translate well into something interesting and watchable. The acting is another plus. Jensen and Jared can do subtle, comedic, dramatic, sexy, depressing...they aren't disjointed, delivery isn't wooden, and they don't over/underact. Oh and JEBUS THEY ARE SEXY! There is so much that validates a show like Supernatural, which I wish more people knew about. I would love to see more shows on par with Supernatural making their way to the network.

Reality shows have a short life of popularity and then they die!! If CW stays with scripted shows they asure themselves a devoted fanbase with the possibility of growth. oh here is one big thing their missing... THEY SHOULD PROMOTE THE SHOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are such thngs called magazines and other media outlets that other large networks use to promote their shows. People dont find shows, the shows find them. If greys is plastered over every damn thing, people watch! go fig

I did not have the WB available to me last year, and never watched anything on UPN. This year I watch Supernatural, Smallville, and Veronica Mars on the CW. Supernatural and Veronica Mars, especially, are fresh, delightful shows that I will watch forever.

I don't watch reality TV at all, ever. I would prefer more shows that are extremely smart, funny, compelling, and well-casted like VM and SPN.

However, I know that ratings are gold and if reality TV provides the CW with the revenue it needs to keep quality scripted programming on the air, go for it. Don't go exclusively to it. But targeting several different niche audiences, IMO, will serve any network better in the long run than any one particular group.

Well, here's my argument for scripted television in two words: online fanbase.

I won't say that I think reality TV doesn't gain viewers. There will always be a market for that kind of thing... we're only human, and of course we love to see other people being flawed as well. That being said, look at the fanbase for scripted shows like Supernatural and Smallville - specifically, the fact that there is a fanbase in the first place. Getting invested in a storyline with other fans creates a sense of community. That community, in turn, sort of self-perpetuates. It generates fanfiction, art, discussion - in short, it generates interest, which makes it grow.

The CW is a brand new network, teeming with potential. It's young, it's fresh, and it has a chance to influence a whole new generation of viewers (not to mention my own generation - I'm 29). In the last few years, there's been a paradigm shift in how success can be measured for any franchise: the fans are online, and their collective voice is very, very loud. It only takes a couple of people with high-traffic websites or online journals to spread the word (and influence opinion) about a hot new show... or even a whole network. If one person has a LiveJournal.com account and a friends list of 100 people (which is about average; what I'm calling "high-traffic" is numbers from 500 to 1000 or more), they reach that 100 people every time they make even a casual comment. The word travels fast, too - exponentially - as those readers turn around and make comments that their friends list will read.

Combine the power of that medium with the loyalty of a community-oriented fanbase, and what do you get? Strong, steady ratings that aren't here today, gone tomorrow.

Let me put it another way: I have yet to be pointed in the direction of any reality show by any of my online communities. Actually, I have yet to stumble across any kind of cohesive group dedicated to a reality show. That doesn't mean they aren't there, but you can't spit on LiveJournal without hitting a Supernatural community. I feel I should also point out that I found this post through a link on my LiveJournal friends list. It got me clicking my way over here because I thought it was awesome that the network was really interested in what the viewers had to say - and you can bet I'll be sharing that opinion. I found the person who mentioned this post through being a part of an online group of fans, many of whom (like myself) originally heard about our favorite CW shows online.

We all know reality TV generates insta-ratings, but why play it safe, you edgy sexy awesome new network? You guys are free to be television that hasn't already been done a thousand times over.

I absolutely love Supernatural and pray to god it comes back. The reason why is because I love TV. And Supernatural is just that, good TV. So many shows now a days are mere entertainment and not good TV. Sure mindless entertainment, like American Idol, gets good ratings but it's never going to be the same as actual quality TV. The thing is the way reality TV shows work you NEED to tune in every week. You need to know who gets kicked off, what happened. Sitcoms and dramas you can watch later, even out of sequence. So bam ratings for actual shows take a hit. And it seems that even scripted shows in this new era have taken a detrimental turn in an attempt to combat this. They end every single episode with some sort dramatic and shocking twist. But putting that at the end of every episode makes a series so nonsensical and convoluted that theres not a point in looking for answers and they're just tiring and repetitive a few seasons in. A good show can last more than a few seasons and you can watch it years later and it'll be just as good as before. That's not true of today's TV, it's just not. Most of it at least. The WB was a safe haven for QUALITY shows often holding on to critically acclaimed shows even with lower ratings. I've always appreciated and respected it for this. And I should hope the CW will have the same guts as WB did.

You need to hold on to quality TV, most specifically, Supernatural. avoids these pitfalls by have an intriguing and mysterious backstory yet not overlooking the beauty of having additional subplots that fit in a single episode and add CHARACTERIZATION (and not random shocks) to the story. As a results it's one of very few series on TV which has actual characters. I know who Sam and Dean are. I know what the would say and how they react. The CW keeps marketing as a series about good vs evil, about horror and shocks but it's not; it's a series about them. It's viewers tune in because we love to be entertained by them and that's something NO other show gives us. They have huge casts of vague characters or in the case of reality shows are packed to the gills with type cast people willing to scratch their mother's eyes out for 15 minutes of fame. Our generation will turn out no Archie Bunkers, no Lucy Ricardos, no characters that are going to live forever because of these stupid trends. Supernatural isn't like that. It also manages to intergrate humor and action in a clever way. Long story short reality shows are hit or miss- varrying widely in quality from one season to the next but every Thursday I KNOW I can expect a quality episode that will make me laugh, jump, and give a da@# about two characters I've grown attached to. It's TV that can be watched in syndication and can be watched again and again and still be good. Unlike reality shows that need to be watched in order and loose luster after being seen. Reality TV will go down as a trend... it's already the trend that killed the sitcom don't let it be the one that took out genuine dramas as well

An absolute "NO" on reality shows. I can barely stand the idea, actually. I'm a huge fan of dramas in general - they can be comedic, of course, but I adore things that have plot continuity and STICK to them. Otherwise it's really hard for me to become obsessed with the idea of the show, and if I'm not obsessed then I'm pretty much not engaged in it. I too am a huge Supernatural fan and love Smallville as well, though in recent times I've been disappointed by Smallville's lack of continuity. But yes, scripted shows all the way.

Personally, I think reality television is the lowest of lows, and as the CW is already low quality, I don't think it can afford to have its reputation hurt any more by having trash added to it's schedule.

Scripted shows are much more engaging and pay off in the long run.

I don't watch reality television. I prefer scripted dramas. However, I'm sure The CW has a mix of viewers with diverse tastes -- so I certainly don't object to reality programs. As long as there's a nice balance.

My absolute favorite show (on any network) is Supernatural. I also watch Veronica Mars, but I think it's gone terribly downhill lately. I'd love to see more all-around solid scripted dramas with funky angles, so SPN isn't alone in the schedule once Smallville finishes up.

Thanks for asking!

I do like reality show, but lately it's starting to get really old and mundane. It's the same thing over and over again. I've watched shows like Real World, Survivor, and things like that, but this year I haven't been able to bring myself to watch anything reality. Unless American Idol is considered reality. All reality shows have seemed to drop into the category of backbiting and ridiculous drama that just goes to show how petty the world is getting.

I really enjoy watching shows like Supernatural, Smallville, The Office, etc. Right now I would choose Supernatural over any show on TV. I just recently got into it this season and have already bought Season 1 on DVD and can't wait until Season 2 comes out. Supernatural and Smallville are the two shows that take up all the space on my TiVo just so I can watching them over and over again. I've given up my regular Thursday night shows on NBC so that I can watch Supernatural. It's what I watch when there's nothing else on, on my iPod during my lunch break at work, and any other time I want to see it.

Supernatural has a great plot and it's heads above the other supernatural type shows. It's not just about ghosts or talking to ghosts, or just vampires, etc. Supernatural touches on all things Supernatural and it's not relationship heavy like a lot of television shows out there that seem to only focus on the teenage demographic. This seems to be a show that covers multiple demographics. I'm in my late twenties and I have quite a few friends that enjoy this show, so I don't feel like I'm the odd one out that likes this show.

I don't know what other good things I can say about this show, but I really do hope that it's picked up for another season at a minimum, but it would be wonderful if it continued on even longer than that. I've never seen fans as dedicated to a show as they are to this show and not in the crazy, obsessive way, but just as loyal watchers and followers of the program.

oh, please, please renew Supernatural!

And Veronica Mars!

I greatly prefer scripted shows. I have enough reality in real life, thank you! I think the idea of a scripted show set behind the scenes of a reality show is really good, but if everyone else is heavy on reality shows, can't you give us stories? I can't see the network gaining any kind of credibility or influence from an emphasis on reality shows!

Supernatural is hands-down my favorite CW show. The writing, acting, and direction are all brilliant. I think that the CW, as a new network, is sort of at a crossroads right now in terms of how it will be known. Supernatural has the potential to run for several seasons (which I of course think it should) and The CW could go down in TV history as "the network that brought us Supernatural" and continue to have more amazing shows created, produced, and aired. Or it could become the reality TV network. I personally find most reality TV to be trashy and offensive. It plays to stereotypes and seems to be all about tearing people down and making fun of them, and it degrades participants and viewers alike. I think the CW should definitely steer clear of the reality-heavy route.

I also love Gilmore Girls. I'd like to see more well-written, well-acted shows like Gilmore Girls and Supernatural as opposed to trashy reality TV.

I would love to see Supernatural return. At the moment, it's my favorite show out there. Many people I know are also huge fans of the show.

Personally, I do not like reality shows. I would prefer to se a drama or something with an actual storyline.

Well, I have to say that since X Files I had not been so excited about a show. But, when I discovered Supernatural, it was like a really amazing feeling.
These guys are absolutely great, the plot and the scripts are brilliant and everything actually is fantastic. I'd love to see this show back. It really deserves a place on your schedules from fall.

I really don't like reality shows because almost everything in this kind of tv is trash. Really.
On the other hand, the scripted programs are a really good option, especially when they're made in a very high quality. From CW, I'm an devoted fan from Supernatural; and I really like Veronica Mars.
That's ll, though. Thank you.

Supernatural is the greatest show of the genre since The X-Files.It's well written, scary, funny, sexy;it makes us scream, laugh, cry, think.I've never been as addicted as I currently am to a TV show before. It has a great plot,we are all dying to see what's gonna happen next,so...Supernatural deserves to have at least 5 seasons!!!I simply love the show, and of course,Jensen and Jared with their awesome acting( and looks,OMG!);I'll always be thankful to Kripke for creating such an amazing show!
Supernatural has zillions of fans here in Brazil, and we are all asking the CW network to keep the show going!!!We love it!

The only show I watched faithly on the CW is Supernatural. I think it's the best hour on television and would love to see more shows like it.

I do not watch any reality TV type shows and it saddens me that networks keeps rolling out with more of these reality shows out every year. I'd love to be loyal to a network but with awesome shows like Supernatural far and few between, it'll never happen.

If you [The CW] want viewers coming back year after year, please continue on with Supernatural and shows like it. Cramming your air waves with reality shows won't get this chick tuning in but Dean and Sam certainly will!

I am not really a huge fan of reality shows, to be honest. I get bored easily and nothing really manages to get my full attention on TV, except for very thought-over, plotty and complex show, with a solid script and good acting. I could name a few of other networks but since this is about CW, I have to say that the best thing to have happened to television these years is surely Supernatural (beating hands down every other show that I watch and even like).

I have been hooked since the pilot episode, because it just left me aching to know more and more, and while the season unfolded, it simply sucked me in. Eric Kripke has created a wonderful universe with complex characters (played exceptionally well by Jesnen Ackles and Jared Padalecki) that totally give X-files a run for its money.

I think it's rare to see such a well-made show on television these days. It's like a breath of fresh air, one I had been longing for, for many many years.
Most hit-bang shows just wear their public off while dragging them season by season, whereas Supernatural gets more renown, bows, plauds and attention with ever new instalment.
Not to make a third season (or a fourth, I wouldn't complain!) would seem, from my personal point of view, a suicidal choice for the network. You've got a true gem and investing in this instead than in trash-easy-made-would-be-reality TV surely would make a poignant choice and maybe even mark a turnpoint in our time TV history.

Currently the only show I watch on the CW network is Supernatural and I've been delighted by the news that you are stepping up promotion for that show with things like books, a magazine, and more merchandise. I also thought you did a pretty incredible job with some of the promos for the second season - the one set to Johnny Cash's "God's Gonna Cut You Down" in particular.

Another thing I've appreciated is your efforts to include the fans with the video contest. In case you haven't noticed by the approximately 10 zillion Supernatural comments you get on every one of this sort of poll or question, this show has a very active dedicated fanbase, with mountains of talent in the graphic arts and video editing fields and the willingness to put it to work for the show. Supernatural has become the phenomenon that Buffy once was in the fannish vid and graphics communities, and I know for a fact that this is drawing more people in to watch the show. (I was one of them!) Many of us creating LiveJournal icons, desktop wallpapers, fan vids, and other creations are uncomfortable with the barely-legal aspect of our fan activities and we would love more than anything more opportunities to put our skills to work for our show with your blessing, through more contests of that sort and similar ideas. (Though it would be nice if the next didn't have a student requirement - many of the most talented vidders I know are in the 25-35 age range!)

Regarding programming, I have never watched a reality show in my life and have no interest in changing that. What I would really love to see on the CW are more edgy dramas like Supernatural and Veronica Mars (by reputation - I didn't have a television during the first season of that show and caught up, although I've always heard good things) and well written comedies that can genuinely engage viewers in a way that few reality shows do. You don't see amateur vidders spending 30+ hours to vid even the most popular reality shows, like American Idol, just for sheer love of the show. Nor would I would spend the four to six hours of my life it takes to make a decent desktop wallpaper on doing one for America's Next Top Model. It takes a well written, well acted *series* to build that kind of devotion.

Supernatural is my favorite show.
I love the way they mix urban Legends, family drama and humor. Jared and Jensen are so talented. I´m pretty sure the show will return. ( I really HOPE so )

I really really hope that Supernatural comes back.
Supernatural is so great... my favorite show and it's very important to me.
I love Supernatural!!!

If it wasn't for SUPERNATURAL I wouldn't be watching the CW. Please bring it back for a third season.

Also, I would definately never come back if this network bases all it's shows on reality TV. Just.. no.

I really really hope that Supernatural comes back.
Supernatural is so great… my favorite show and it’s very important to me.
I love Supernatural!!!

You're kidding, right?

The network needs QUALITY SHOWS in order to last and gain some respect. Seriously. If it continues to produce reality shows and eventually decides to drop its scripted shows, the network will be ridiculed with no end.

That being said, scripted shows generate a more loyal audience. For example, Supernatural is up against the #1 and #2 scripted shows. It continually maintains a consistent number of devoted viewers regardless of its lead-in.

The Pussycat Dolls Show is very different from this. When shown against Idol, without a strong lead-in, the numbers aren't stellar. They only rise after the strong ANTM lead-in without much competition.

As well, fanbases of scripted shows would generate more buzz and money for the network.

Fans of the Pussycat Dolls or even ANTM would not go out of their way to promote the show or to buy all the merchandise. I'm betting none of them are as obsessed as those people in the One Tree Hill, Smallville, or Supernatural fandoms.

The fandoms of the scripted shows are extremely loyal and they will go to any lengths for their favourite.

I really only watch four shows on the CW: Supernatural, Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls, and America's Next Top Model. Supernatural has become a favorite of mine, and I'm always excited about a new episode because of the excellent casting, directing, and writing. Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls have both been losing their appeal this season because they've lost some of the smartness that attracted me in the first place. America's Next Top Model is a guilty pleasure of mine, but I only watch it on occassion.

I hope that when the CW plans out its line-up for next season it finds a good balance of scripted shows and "reality" shows. So many of the reality shows out now are vulgar and tasteless exploitation of over-the-top people. I would prefer that the network not add too many reality shows since they rarely bring anything exciting and fresh to a network. Scripted shows are much more appealing and attractive to most audiences, including myself.

If it weren't for Supernatural I wouldn't watch much of anything on the CW.

I doubt I'll tune in more for reality TV shows, as I don't watch any that the network already has.

I love scripted shows and right now Supernatural is at the top compared to other shows I'm watching (CSI, Criminal Minds, Heroes, House etc). I never thought it was possible to adore such a show and to become completely absorbed in it as I have done. I think this network needs to make note of the dedication that these fans have because these fans have a point and brining out all these reality shows could make people overlook shows like Supernatural which they shouldn't. I love shows that leave you thinking about the characters and the actual plot which Supernatural does extremely well. I must have rewatched episodes countless times and it still hasn't gotten old, there are not many shows I can say this about. The actors are fantastic, the fact that they have great chemistry helps the show, and I think that is a rare factor, and it makes the show that much more enjoyable for me.

I used to watch the occational reality TV show but that was when it first started. I now find that there are far too many lacking in any kind of quality that I have no interest in them unless I'm bored. It would be better to focus on producing more quality programmes rather than reality TV shows.

While I personally do not watch reality shows, I believe it is possible to have a nice balance of reality and scripted series. The CW needs to be careful about finding that balance so as not to alienate any viewers. I think one or two more reality shows will not hurt the network and will fill some of the programming holes. I just hope they keep the quality drama Supernatural and give it a better timeslot.

I love show , Supernatural. It has two incredibly attractive guys. And Then I love the supernatural type things. I love everything about Supernatural.

I also love One Tree Hill. I love the diversity of One Tree Hill. And I'm actually happy and I think it's better if a lot of things are going on at once.

I love everything about One Tree Hill. And I can relate to the characters and I think a lot of people can.

I LOVE One Tree Hill & Supernatural.

Reality television is not something I engage in. I prefer to watch a well written, well acted show any day. Left with the choice of a reality show versus none at all...I'll go read a book.

I seriously believe that if you bog down your line-up with reality based shows, you will loose viewership rather than gain it. I would much rather you invest your time and MONEY in some of the great shows you already have, like Veronica Mars or my absolute favorite SUPERNATURAL, plus it wouldn't hurt to develop new pilots that would pair with either of these existing shows.

You may want to remember that you aren't the only ones "investing" in this network. We, the viewers take time out of our busy lives to "invest" in your network and your network sponsors, and if you fail us, you are ultimately failing yourself.

If it wasn't for Supernatural, I'd never watch The CW and that's the honest to god truth. Please bring it back for a third season.

Thank you!

I hope Supernatural returns for a third season. Here in Brazil, we have a community on Orkut web site with 47,000 members which means that the show is very popular.
The first season is available on DVD and open TV and now we are watching the second season with just 2 episodes from diference than the official callendar in USA.

Reality shows don't really do it for me. There are a few exceptions but for the most part, I think they're ridiculous.

I do love the scripted shows on the CW, most notably SUPERNATURAL. This is my MUST SEE show and no matter what else is going on in my life, I make time for SUPERNATURAL.

I also enjoy the Gilmore Girls, though it took a turn for the worst this season. It seems to be climbing out of the hole it dug for itself but I still have my doubts.

That's what MTV is for CW, your meant to present hard hitting, edgy shows and doing so means excluding reality shows.

My favorite show on the network is Supernatural. I at first followed the CW for OTH but as the writiers of that show keep repeating the same storylines (Lucas-Peyton-Brooke triagle) the show became more boring.

Not only is Supernatural unique, but it's doing fantastic for being in the Thursday 9PM timeslot. This show looks into America's past that history teachers can't even describe. Supernatural has an awesome creator, fantastic writiers, and brilliant/gorgeous actors.

Hosting Supernatural was one of the best decisions you have made, your worst being the continuation of reality shows.

SUPERNATURAL FOR MANY MORE SEASONS!

One Tree Hill,One of the best shows that I already saw!!!
I loveee only that!

And Supernatural Show I love too!!!

keep Supernatural. reality shows are fun, but they're like cotton candy -- you can't survive on a diet of it without going all rickety and eventually dying of malnutrition.

i'm not saying that i live off tv or anything, but Supernatural definitely pulls the same heartstrings for me (and those who watch with me) that Buffy did. there's a definite lack of good scripted shows around, and while Supernatural does have it's *duhhhh that was lame* moments, overall it's a solid show that has no other counterpart style outside of a few Scifi (cable) channel shows. it has people coming back to watch.

Oh, so the CW is interested in turning into a reality TV network?! Uh, NO. After the Pussycat Dolls show, anymore reality TV on the CW is going to be insane. Plus, how real can televise 'reality' like ANTM and PCD be?

I tune into the CW for the scripted shows. Sometimes when you find a good show with great writing, awesome plot, and amazing actors, it's just as good as finding a good book.

I'd also like to urge the network to KEEP SUPERNATURAL. The show is absoluely BRILLIANT, and one of the BEST shows on television right now. Note that when The X-Files first started, it wasn't an instant hit. I think if the CW keeps Supernatural and looks into moving it to a new night, the show will be a cult success, much like The X-Files and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

KEEP SUPERNATURAL!

You can make an uber show called America's Next Top Pussycat Geek for all I care, just bring Veronica Mars back.

Love Supernatural; only show on T.V. that holds my interest. Absolutey praying for a third season! By the way, don't care for reality shows!

I’m disappointed at the idea of the CW becoming a reality heavy network. The reality craze wore thin for me years ago, and taking this direction without establishing a strong drama line up would only reinforce the CW as a start up network not to be taken seriously. The top twenty shows on television this season are an even mix of quality reality and quality drama, and the CW needs to reflect that to not be written off as a network MTV. A network can only attract top talent if it cultivates a welcoming network image through a smart and diverse line up. Reality programming can be a powerful ratings draw, but it can’t be used as a crutch. I support the CW launching reality programming to pay the bills, but it’s not what will cultivate a dedicated viewer base that’s in for the long haul.

The CW pilots I’m most excited about are Gravity and Reaper, and I hope they come out strong. I’m looking forward to giving Hidden Palms a try. My favorite show on the network right now? Supernatural. It features two of the most dynamically developed lead characters on television today, avoids soapy, cliché plots, and still manages to pack a rollicking good time into every episode.

SPN’s proven that with appropriate marketing it has a potential to reach a much wider audience, jumping up by half a million viewers, March 15th, after the CW’s first big marketing push this season and holding fairly steady March 22nd, despite a preemption in Chicago, a major Nielsen market. If the CW could lock in on other scripted dramas that appeal to as wide a demographic (16-60) as Supernatural, the CW would be on its way to a promising future.

With shows like Supernatural, Gravity, and Reaper, the network has a chance to capture the eye of the elusive, valuable, and neglected 18-34 year old male demographic. (But the main character of Reaper’s first name needs to be changed from “Sam” to avoid brand confusion with SPN.) Renewing Supernatural for a third season is a promise to future creators that the network will support male-oriented dramas.

Most important of all, the CW must launch next season’s advertising campaign based around the shows it’s offering and not the underdeveloped network image. Nothing was more damaging to the CW launch than the “Free to Be” campaign: bubbly, fun, and wholly without substance. Why will people tune into a network when they can’t discern the difference between one program and the other, or what any of the programs could possibly be about? In its sophomore year, the CW must focus on making sure viewers know what programming is available on the network. The CW will only lure in new viewers through content—not abstract (even -esoteric-)concepts.

I don't watch any reality shows on the CW. They're so generic. I watch Smallville, Supernatural, Veronica Mars and Everybody Hates Chris.

Supernatural is the more intelligent and the best show o//.
Season 3 pleaase! ;*

I understand that the CW wants to go the reality route to gain ratings but in 5-10 years I won't remember some short-lived craptastic reality nightmare. I'm going to remember the shows that try whole-heartedly to entertain their audiences with amazing writing and talented actors. I don't want to watch a network that values ratings more than it's viewers. I'm sorry, CW, but I'm only watching one show(Supernatural) on your network as it is and if your head hunchos decide to take this path over quality television, I'm done. You can't honestly think that people prefer Mother/Daughter beauty pageants over shows that they can invest in, and character they can honestly care about. That's just stupid.

I'm a fan of stories, of plots, of characters. I've never been interested enough by the previews to tune in to a single reality show. Don't see that changing next season.

Supernatural rox1

i love it because it's different and so intelligent!...nothing can be more serious and funny at the same time.we get envolved with the history from the first time we see it!
that happened to me.
i love u guys,i love to see the brotherhood cause it reminds me of my sister!

kisses and thanx1!!

i love supernatural!

Supernatural is one of my favorite shows on the CW. It's very realistic, entertaining, and very well-thought out. Although I love Beauty and the Geek and Top Model, Supernatural reigns supreme.

I will always choose scripted programming over cheesy reality programs.

The only CW program I watch is SUPERNATURAL - very unique show and everyone has already mentioned how captivating this program is. The Pilot sucked me it and I have not missed an episode.

From viewing other blogs, I know that Supernatural has a broad viewing demographic from college age into their 50s, but many 30+ have never heard of the show. For starters, my two best friends, who I'm trying to get on the SN bandwagon (they're CSI fans.)

PROMOTE...PROMOTE...PROMOTE SUPERNATURAL - not just within the CW but outside as well.

What would be great for Season Three is to air (like the WB did with Reba) Supernatural - beginnings before new episodes. This could help bring new viewers up-to-date.

IMO: Programming primarily targeted to ages of 14-25 will never have the high ratings received by shows of other networks. The CW restricts it's viewing demographic.

Same as all reality programs: ANTM, BG, & PCD have yet to spark any interest in me to tune in. No offense to anyone but it's mindless television and I'd rather curl up with a good book. Also, please STOP airing PCD 3 days a week. ENOUGH ALREADY. BTW what is up with the 10 million viewers commercial I've seen for PCD? It's premature for the CW to add all three nights and assume that they are not adding the same viewers multiple times. (according to pifeedback.com Tuedsay 2.6 mil and Wed 3.15 mil - Sundays don't reach 2mil and viewership is on the decline)

SUPERNATURAL...SEASON 3..ETC...PLEASE.

Supernatural is what TV was made for - story-telling at its best!
I just cannot believe how amazing this show is in all departments - thank-you CW!

BTW I never watch reality TV.

ONE TREE HILL! is the Best thing on the CW!!

supernatural rules, every one know, every onde like of supernatural the serie i had watch, great SUPERNATURALLL

There are already too many reality tv shows out there; the CW should stick to what makes it (slightly more) unique, which is well-written, well-acted, successful shows. Supernatural is brilliant, and doing well even in a timeslot that is INSANITY. Bring back Supernatural!

Guess we told them (overwhelmingly) that Supernatural is the show to keep, huh? w00t!!

Supernatural...
Because is the best!

I personally do not watch reality tv. I live in reality, I'd rather watch a show that takes me away from what I'm around everyday.

Take Supernatural for instance. That is my favorite show in the whole wide world. I love shows that have to with, well, supernatural things.

So, I would like Supernatural to be picked up for MANY more seasons and for others show like it to be picked up. As for reality shows, I could do without them!!!

It's not on CW that I'm gonna to watch... xD. Since I'm not in the USA... But anyway
Supernatural, is the kind of show that I would watch... xD

SUPERNATURAL TO THE BONE.... ^^

I want more and more Supernatural!

Supernatural rules!

the answer is obvious: SUPERNATURAL! THE BEST SERIE OF CW!

I WANT A THIRD SEASON OF SUPERNATURAL!

bitinho from Brasil!

SUPERNATURAL!!!!!!!
SUPERNATURAL!!!!!!!
SUPERNATURAL!!!!!!!
SUPERNATURAL!!!!!!!
SUPERNATURAL!!!!!!!
SEASON 3 SUPERNATURAL!!!!!

There's already too much reality TV on other channels. I like that the CW offers shows that have a unique voice, like Veronica Mars and my favorite, Supernatural. Give us more shows that are as well-written as Supernatural, and the viewers will remain loyal to this network. Give us too many attempts at reality TV, and the network's reputation could suffer.

I almost never watch reality TV; when networks first started airing these kinds of shows I tuned in for the novelty factor but quickly lost interest. I prefer scripted shows over reality television.

The only show I watch on the CW is Supernatural, and it is quickly becoming my all-time favorite television show (competing with such former loves as Star Trek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Firefly). Supernatural is consistently well-written and well acted. It's one of those rare shows that's incredibly funny, incredibly sad, and genuinely creepy all at the same time. It's a smart show; it never panders to the lowest common denominator; it expects its audience to be intelligent and well informed which is a refreshing change from a lot of televison. Finally, the premise for the show is very unique. There are only two main characters on the show, Dean and Sam, so viewers are given a much richer and much more intimate look at the journey of these two brothers than we would see on a show with a regular-sized cast.

I would love to see more programming in the vein of Supernatural on the CW.

Supernatural is the only show I watch on the CW and going reality heavy isn't going to change that. I don't watch reality shows. At all.

More reality tv? Ugh. Please no.

I am one of the viewers who never misses Supernatural. The two major competitors go into the Tivo queue or on the VCR tape simply because I can't wait to see what adventures, trials, and tribulations await the Winchesters. The brilliant writing and excellent acting keep me hooked. I haven't been this devoted to a show since 24 started six years ago.

Who would think a show like this would do so well against the two biggest scripted dramas on TV? Losing Supernatural for more reality stuff would be a mistake. Can you say the My Network?

Supernatural!
I want more and more Supernatural!

Reality TV shows across networks are already demonstrating massive user fatigue, and since the advent of "Lost", procedural dramas like "CSI" or "Bones" have adopted a more serial aspect. If the CW wants to be successful, following the trend towards scripted dramas with high production values is probably its safest bet.

The WB and UPN both went into the merger with shows that were already tired ("Gilmore Girls", "Seventh Heaven" <- which should have been allowed to bow out more or less gracefully), and developing new content is obviously vital. But similarly, the CW should stick with the good content that it does have ("Supernatural") and focus efforts on promoting already promising material, rather than wasting capital on one-season reality TV.

Bleh.

I've never watched a reality TV show and I don't plan on starting any time soon. I hope the CW reconsiders on this.

I prefer watching shows like Supernatural. Especially Supernatural. It's a wonderful show, the acting is great, and so is the writing. It deserves a larger audience, and I think that anyone who isn't watching it is missing out! :)

I have to add my 2 cents worth here. Ok, so I don't live in the US, but I only know of CW because of Supernatural. Can't stand reality TV but I absolutely adore Supernatural and therefore have to adore (well like? admire? grovel humbly to?) CW for hosting the best show EVER! Also, this show is improving AND attracting top name actors and therefore I believe it will continue to gain viewers. It can only get better - it already has incredible actors, writers and directors and I have to say the US promos that I have seen are SO much better than the ones we have here in Aus. So - CW - keep the show that is working for you - people don't just LOVE this show, they are passionate, addicted and obsessed by this - which means they will continue to support it AND draw in new viewers - 'cause we talk about it all the time!. (That may have been 3 cents worth).

Supernatural must come back for Third Season-show only gets better and better with every episode!
And I would never waste my time on reality TV.It was fun, when these shows were new-but these days they're boring, trashy and even ridiculous.

I think any TV channel should have a diverse programming schedule. I must admit it is the scripted shows that I enjoy most such SV, GG, VM and OTH. In fact I never watch the reality shows except when I am really bored. I think the CW should be careful as not to saturate the channel with too much reality tv, some is fine in moderation (as is everything in life).
My biggest gripe with CW has to be the way they schedule, leaving huge gaps between new shows. No wonder shows ca't retain an audience. People by nature like routine. I know I hate tuning in only to find my fave show is not on.

The last thing the world -- and The CW -- needs is more reality television.

Retaining and investing in quality programs, like the brilliant Supernatural, is a far smarter decision. Don't jump the gun on this one, CW.

Well truth be told me and my guilty pleasure that is America's Next Top Model don't really know how to 'vote'. I adore ANTM and I will watch whichever cycle I can on whatever channel. But at the same time, I really do prefer scripted drama. ANTM being the only reality I even tune in. I'd rather see Supernatural being picked up for the next season. I'd rather see Veronica Mars getting picked up (sure, I admit right away, I only tune in for episodes with Weevil. NO Weevil in the fourth season, Jane is not watching). Scripted shows are really IT. I'm not expecting another Heroes... But something light and funny (or in case of SUpernatural dark and funny with hot guys) that would allow me to relax instead of worrying that I will get LOST in the plot :)

Personally I can't stand reality shows and would be very happy to see less of them.

I enjoy smart, scripted shows like Supernatural, which at the moment is my favourite show on television. I hope we'll be seing that show on the CW for at least a few more years.

I know the reality show formula is an easy way to draw in crowds, but I hope to see less of them in the years to come, not more.

I'm hoping for more quality scripted shows.

My two favorite shows on TV are Veronica Mars and Supernatural. They are both clever. well acted and well written shows. Each brings humor and emotion each week. I love seeing what new case Veronica has, was snarky thing Logan will say. I wait in anticipation for the lastest monster that Dean and Sam will fight. I wonder what will become of Sam, will he succum to evil or will Dean save his baby brother or be forced to kill him, per dear daddys order. Scripted is the way to go.

SUPERNATURAL! Best show ever, it has to come back.

Do I tune into reality TV? - Yes. The real questions are when and why I tune into reality programs. The answer to both questions is simple: I'll tune into reality TV if there's no other show that catches my attention; if I all I want to do is sit and snicker as opposed to think; and if I don't feel like watching one of the many DVDs I have. In other words, reality TV is my last choice for entertainment and inspires no viewing loyalty from me. While I know that the CW needs something to help tide it over during this first, rough years, I see reality tv as being a quick fix that won't carry the network in the long run. Shows like Supernatural (my favourite on television) generate loyal fanbases who watch consitently, buy merchandise and passionately promote their show to others are what the CW needs for the long-run.

So, do I understand the reasoning for bringing more mindless reality programming to TV? - Yes, but the likely chance of me watching even one episode is slim to none. Lastly, I think that the CW network needs to be cautious in the kind of image it is creating for itself. For many the CW is still just WB+UPN (i.e. without any distinguishing features of its own) and if the image that these people get is that the CW is the place to go for mindless (and seemingly trashy) reality programs, then when the network tries to launch scripted shows which will bring in viewers that are truly valuable to the network over the long run, I believe that it will be very difficult for these shows to gain a base, even if they somehow manage to equal the quality of Supernatural today. (Which I might add would be a feat in itself, considering the superb acting and unbelievable chemistry between the two leads, the fantastic writing and the best (for me meaning the roundest, most dynamic and realistic)characters that I've seen on TV.)

To gain and maintain the kind of fanbase that Supernatural currently has (the kind I believe are best for the network in the long run) the CW must show that they are committed to investing in quality SCRIPTED programming. Though it may not currently be feasible for the CW to develop a myriad of scripted programming the CW can still ensure that it is associated with quality television by, firstly, renewing quality shows like Supernatural, and, secondly, promoting said show to ensure that people associate shows of this calibur with the network.

Veronica Mars is a smart, entertaining and well-conceived of show. I'm at the edge of my seat to see how the mysteries unravel and to see how the heroine can cleverly quip her way through a case. I've been a big fan of the CW because it picked up the show and have religiously watched the Veronica Mars as well as
Everybody Hates Chris ever since the channel started broadcasting in Hawaii. Please continue to support scripted television that tells truly entertaining stories. I will continue to support the SCRIPTED programs at the CW. Veronica Mars is smart television!

Yikes! I swear reality shows are dumbing down tv. I'll admit, I enjoy sitting down and turning off my brain to watch America's Top Model, and maybe Pussycat Dolls if American Idol is on (cause I really hate that show. How many commercials can they fit into one hour if tv anyway?), but even that is pushing it. Ditzy girls fighting over who is the best. They make me scared for our future.

No, my favorite shows are the ones with plot. A nice story line, perhaps some character development, and a reason to yell at the tv when I get over-excited about what's happening. Supernatural is a fine example of this. I love it so much, I even watch the reruns! I grew up on the X-Files (and still love watching the reruns) and see such potential in Supernatural to reach those heights. Plus, any show with a creep factor has my vote!

Reality shows are predictable, manufactured, and too empty to provide any form of satisfying entertainment. I seriously don't understand why the general masses would pick Dancing With the Stars over, say, Veronica Mars.

And while we're on the subject of Veronica Mars, I'd have to say that I'm sort of intriguied by this whole FBI idea. But only if Logan's included, and it can go back to its dark, more noirish roots and leave all this soap opera and relationship drama to One Tree Hill or Gossip Girls or whatever fluffy, melodramtic new show the CW's going to come up with.

Reality TV should be a No-Go! Reality had its day and that day passed long ago. Scripted shows may cost more, but there is more potential with them to grow and produce in the long run.

Supernatural is a prime example. The show is excellent. It has grown and is holding its own in the toughest timeslot on TV. The show has survived in the "Timeslot of Doom". It takes one heck of a show to go up against CSI and Grey's Anatomy and not get crushed. Supernatural did that and more. I, for one, gave up CSI in favor of Supernatural and I'm not about to go back. I can watch CSI online later if I care to. I need to see Supernatural first run, on time and that goes for whatever timeslot it's put in.

Keep Supernatural around. Pattern new shows on the concept of fresh and interesting ideas. Don't go with the same old reality junk. That stuff is forgettable. Invest in quality like Supernatural and you'll do well.

I would personally hate to see even more reality on television. As it stands, there's only one reason I watch the CW every week: Veronica Mars. It's one show that doesn't insult my intelligence. I would love to be able to watch VM and other smart scripted dramas. Reality shows may get the viewers now, but does The CW really want to be known as a channel that plays so many reality shows or do they want to create more intelligent dramas to be remembered years from now?

As I said on another site, I think it's disgusting how much reality tv gets put out there and that it's a bad move to concentrate on it so much. It might be cheaper and the ratings might be good due to people tuning in to make fun of those who make fools of themselves on these shows (not to mention all the fights that go on). However, I think concentrating too much on reality tv just makes the network into a joke. It might work in the sense of ratings for awhile but it certainly doesn't mean that the network will get any respect. The CW will NOT be gaining any kind of devoted fanbase by concentrating on reality shows because people can find that kind of mindless entertainment anywhere which means the network would become one that is more easily abandoned. I don't see anything to admire in reality shows and I really think relying on these kinds of shows is taking the easy way out without showing any real talent or thought which would in my opinion also reflect negatively on the network.

It's funny how characters on scripted tv shows are always so much more 3-dimensional and well-developed than the so-called "real people" on reality shows. I'd much rather watch creatively written and acted tv shows such as Supernatural with characters that are interesting, admirable, fully developed, and who we can watch grow. Plus I really enjoy watching friendships (and the brothers on Supernatural count in that category) on tv but the so-called friendships on reality shows always come across as extremely superficial. I'd much rather tune into a quality scripted show that concentrates on exploring these relationships in a way that shows me these people actually care about and love each other rather than seeing boring, lame reality shows.

I myself, think depending on reality programming is a bad idea. The talent and originality of scripted programs is what makes me stick around.

My favorite show on the network, on any network, is SUPERNATURAL. It is the only show I watch every single week. And, quite honestly, if the show doesn't get a third season, I will quickly begin to lose my faith in television....

Veronica Mars is one of the two best written and acted shows on television. Please continue to air intelligent, quality programming on this network. Reality shows are ok once in a while if I'm bored and nothing else is on, but I have no desire to come back and watch them every week. If the CW becomes filled with nothing but reality TV, I will not tune in very often. Other than Veronica Mars, I also enjoy Everybody Hates Chris, and One Tree Hill is entertaining, although nowhere near the quality of VM. Please keep Veronica on the air next season!

I personally much prefer scripted shows to reality television. In fact I switch off immediately at the sign of a reality program. Supernatural is one of my favourite shows of all time and is innovative and creative and inspires people. I personally believe that it takes a lot more talent and creativity to create a scripted show than a reality show, and in today's globalised economy, creativity is the currency. These shows make people think, give people something to relate to and talk about. Veronica Mars is another inventive show that takes a somewhat extreme storyline and makes it believeable. Introduces lovable characters and inspires people to write and watch. I just think it would be a crying shame is shows like this were cancelled and replaced with reality television.

In the past ten years, I've made it a point to faithfully watch only 3 shows: The X-files, 24, and The Office. Currently, the only show I never miss is Supernatural, which has wonderful elements of the three aforementioned shows that used to be near and dear to my heart (authentic character chemistry, fast-paced action and personal drama, and humor). Because of this show, I now occassionally surf around on your station and have watched a smattering of your reality TV shows.

While occassionally entertaining, I find reality TV mindless. It's sufficient if you're decompressing at the end of the day, but I would never put my life aside and not answer my phone because of it (like I do for Supernatural).

Scripted shows offer an escape from real life that reality TV will never be able to. I and most people I know FAITHFULLY watch a show (in contrast to just accidentally catching something on when they have 10 minutes) because there is something compelling beyond just a sensational cliff-hanger, a seemingly larger than life "real" person, or a pretty girl. For most people I know who only have time for a show or two to watch, a faithful following require more: a engaging plot, story continuity, drama, crafted conflict, and enduring characters that can only be creasted/developed in crafted shows.

I've been so impressed with Supernatural. If there were more smart shows with novel approaches and such tight and consistent characterization, TV would be a better place.

I am a dedicated Supernatural fan, as it's pretty much the only TV show I make sure I never miss each week. Of the half-dozen to dozen shows that I watch, none are reality TV. I prefer compelling storylines with ficitonal characters, with arcs that don't feel like the contestants (or whatever) are playing up the situation to be famous. I prefer shows with actors and writers and directors that can showcase their talent over shows that are about who is the best dancer or who is the best singer or who is the best ... whatever.

Reality TV does have it's place in today's world of television programming - no doubt about that. However, I would caution against moving too heaving towards that sort of programming as - like so many other trends in the television world - I believe that there will come some point in the future where reality shows don't fare quite as well in the ratings, which could leave the CW in a very sorry state indeed.

Instead, I'd argue for compiling a more varied sort of schedule - some dramas (both realistic - in the vein of, say, Gilmore Girls - and fantasy - in the vein of Supernatural and Smallville), some comedies, and some reality shows. I honestly believe that diversification is the key to success, and I don't see why that would be any different in the television industry.

Of course, all of the CW programming should have some unifying theme, but with differing sorts of shows, the network as a whole will hopefully appeal to differing groups of individuals. And, hey, if someone enjoys Show A on, say, Thursdays, maybe they'll channel surf a few days later and give Show B on Sundays a try as well.

A network's reputation is built off their quality of programming. Generally speaking, I don't view reality TV as quality, but rather as a fad that will eventually fade into obscurity.

I am really keeping my fingers crossed for a 3rd season of 'Supernatural'. This show is so unique- it has the perfect blend of humor and drama, a dynamic relationship between two brothers and it seems to keep viewers on their toes from week to week.

I think to cancel this show would do a great disservice to the CW network as a whole.

Supernatural is the best show on the network. It's smart, exciting, sexy, everything you could possibly ask for. This is one show I NEVER miss.

I have my own real life so I don't need anymore reality shows. Supernatural is the only show I watch in this network! So please keep the show for more seasons.

Please, for the love of Pete, don't become the "reality network", CW. I'm sure that reality shows have their fans, but I'm not one of them. I watch TV for one reason - to escape reality for a little while.

That's why I am so in love with Supernatural. It truly is the best thing CW has in it's lineup. It's well-written, well-acted, and leaves me thinking about the episodes long after they air. No other show has captured my imagination quite like this. I've bought 2 sets of the DVDs (because one is always out on loan to friends to convert new viewers), I download the episodes from iTunes, and fully intend to get the comics and books when they come out. I also pay attention to which advertisers spend money on my favorite show. The bottom line - I'm putting my money where my heart is.

We want more of the same. Not Supernatural clones, but stories with character development, plots that grab our attention, and dialog that smart and funny. That means scripted shows with writers, directors, and actors of the caliber we've become accustomed to in Supernatural. So when considering what to put on the schedule for the fall, give us more shows that make us fall in love with them. That's the way to our hearts and our wallets.

Reality shows are scripted - they just do it after it's filmed so it tells the story they want it to tell.

And I don't watch any of them.

i do watch the reality shows on the cw, like antm and beauty and the geek. but i would pick supernatural and one tree hill over antm and beauty and the geek any day! oth and sn just so happen to be my 2 most favourite shows, not only just on the cw, but they are my favourite shows ever!! oth and sn are awesome! and i would much rather see more shows like it, rather than see more reality shows.

I'm not a fan of reality TV & do not understand the CW's reasoning for promoting the heck out of these worthless shows when the BEST show on TV period gets no promotion at all. Veronica Mars deserves a ton more advertising than what it gets.

When I was little, the only television I ever watched was PBS, usually Mystery! or Masterpiece Theater. I initially resisted checking out Supernatural (despite my friends' fervent recommendations) because I associated the WB with juvenile trash. I was dead wrong, and now I've bought a tv set just so I can watch Supernatural as it airs.

Don't disappoint my newfound interest in the CW by putting on more of that revolting reality programming. I know someone out there must be watching it because it has good ratings, but I never have and never will.

I find it embarrassing to even admit to people that I watch *real* shows on networks that show too much of that crap. Don't make the CW synonymous with low quality and brainlessness. Your dramas have so much more potential for a lasting fanbase that will waste money on related products and remain faithful to spinoffs. Don't let ratings alone determine the fall lineup. I love Supernatural so much that I'm prepared to give anything similar on your network a chance. Just no more models and Pussycats, please!

The entire reason I tune into the CW is to watch their scripted shows. Reality T.V. has never done it for me, and right now most channels are bloated with nothing but these types of programs.

If you love them, hey that's fine, but let’s be honest. Reality T.V. is nothing more than fluffy at best, and mindless at worst.

Scripted shows such as the wonderful Supernatural gives us a deep look into American folklore, and gives us one of they most believable sibling relationships I have ever seen on television. One Tree Hill gives you characters and a story line that has to build upon itself to be successful. Smallville took an old comic favorite and put a new spin on it, and Veronica Mars gave us a heroin who used her brain power to fix the hurts around her. I could go on.

The point. These shows have plots, movement, characters to love and relate with. You want to revisit them, and the situations they encountered. You just don't get that with reality T.V.

I will seriously have convulsions if Veronica Mars is cancelled! It is such a breath of fresh air amongst all of this reality garbage. The writing is so clever and witty and the cast is so perfect. I have never felt this strongly about a t.v. show before. I have these knots in my stomach from the anticipation of hearing whether or not it is going to be renewed. I cannot stomach another reality show. I need characters with depth and compassion. I am so sick of people who are looking for their 15 minutes of fame. Save Veronica Mars. Save the world.(from reality t.v.)

I would be so disappointed if more reality shows came to the CW. My personal favorite is One Tree Hill. I think the network has been very disappointing by putting an almost 3 month gap in new episodes because of the Pussycat doll search. That is crazy to interrupt a great show in the middle of a season to insert a whole season of a new show. If there aren't good ratings, then that could be the problem.....these disappointing hiatuses. One Tree Hill for Season 5!!!!!

I am not a big fan of the reality shows. I do watch a couple of them but not religiously. But there is one show on your network that I watch faithfully and that is Supernatural. Every Thursday night at 8 I drop everything I am doing in order to tune in to Supernatural. It is a show that is completely underrated and really deserves the attention of the masses. Being on the most competetive night of television in the most competetive hour, I think it holds its own.

Supernatural has only gotten better with the second season. The writing has been superb and has given us some very memorable moments. I have never been as passionate about a show as I have with Supernatural. I beg that you give Supernatural another season because it has many more stories to tell. It has such a loyal and incredible fan base and if you let it get away from you, you will lose millions of viewers.

So, please, keep Supernatural and give it the respect it deserves along with more publicity.

I may watch America's Next Top Model sometimes, but Veronica Mars is the only show that I must watch live on the CW. The only shows I truly would miss on the CW, if they were gone, would be Veronica Mars and Supernatural. Everything else is pretty much a 'take or leave' show for me on this network.

The only reality show that the CW should go with is Maury. Shows like Supernatural would be fucking badass.

Reality T.V. in my opinion is lame, overrated , stupid and just useless. I much much MUCH prefer watching shows like One Tree Hill, Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls. I would be seriously disapointed if the CW becomes one of those trashy reality t.v. channels!

I despise the majority of reality tv. The only reality tv I am remotely okay with is the occasional quiz show, and I admit to getting hooked on Beauty and the Geek too. The CW has a real gem in Supernatural which, with some wholehearted support and a less vicious timeslot, could be a real standout. Many of the other, elderly shows on the network (One Tree Hill, Gilmore Girls, 7th Heaven) just need to be put to bed for good. I really enjoy Veronica Mars, and hope it returns despite a few rough patches this season. I could also really get into a Green Arrow series. I hope CW doesn't give up on shows like Supernatural and Veronica Mars for another round of utterly meaningless reality tv pablum.

Supernatural 4ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well i like beauty and the geek but i could so without the rest of the reality shows

my all time favorite is supernatural and i think there should be more of that and also one tree hill i love that showw really i think it should be more scripted shows and as much supernatural and oth as you can dish out =D

Every show that mattered to me in my formative years was on either the WB or UPN. Buffy, Angel, Dawson's Creek, Roswell, the first three seasons of Smallville: these were the shows that taught me what it was to grow up, what it meant to navigate through the world towards adulthood. They were stories, not a series of events. I was roughly the ages the characters were- a year younger than Buffy, in love with Pacey... These shows mattered to me. Why? They were intense, interesting stories. They were well written, well acted, and had a clear moral stance, which they explored lightly, and they were willing to let their characters grow and change. I had no desire for my life to be as angsty as Dawson and Joey's, I knew I wasn't going to encounter any vampires, I didn't have to worry about the government hunting me down because I was an alien. But the shows resonated with me because they were quality stories that spoke to all the things that people hunger for. They didn't assume that I wanted mindless entertainmet, they assumed that their viewers were smart enough to get a complex plotline and witty dialogue.

The CW is the marriage of those two networks; it should be able to merge all the things that were so wonderful about their programming. Yes, I follow Beauty and the Geek and ANTM online when I have the free time, but it's Supernatural that has me driving to a friend's house every Thursday (I don't actually have a television) to make sure I watch it. Why? For all the same reasons as the shows I listed above: it's a compelling story, it's smart and funny and scary, and it's telling me something about life. (And, uh, don't tell Jensen, but Dean is totally my tv boyfriend...)

The CW has the creators and the writers and the directors to make great television. Please don't settle for filling your schedule with reality programming just because the overhead is low. It's got its place as a small component of the line-up, but if it gets much heavier it will overwhelm the network. Give us a network we can love. You have our loyalty from the WB days; build on it, don't throw it away. Let us care.

Some reality shows are fine. ANTM, PCD, and BATG are all entertaining shows. But the upcoming 'Crowned,' and the rest of the new reality shows premiering on network channels across the country and becoming more and more sloppy, and not well put together. Scripted shows are what I watch TV for- shows like Supernatural, Heroes, and sometimes even Smallville are the best shows on TV right now in my opinion. Supernatural has great characters, great atmosphere, and is always chilling. I strongly believe it is and always will be the CW's best show, scripted and/or otherwise.

Too much reality tv definitely would hurt the CW. It would get seriously boring after playing them over and over. I think the amount they have now is good. Fictional shows are way more interesting to watch.

ONE TREE HILL<333 =) =)

I love Supernatural!!!I'm so sick of these reality shows that always turn out to be the same old dull thing...Supernatural is such a different, fresh and great show! The CW needs it!

Supernatural is the only program on the CW worth watching.

Please, please.... for the LOVE of my sanity:

No more reality shows
No more police/crime dramas
No more medical dramas

Let's be blunt here, the CW just doesn't have the number of markets and the pull to compete with the Big 3 (or 4 if you count Fox) on the same footing.

So don't.

You have a real opportunity here to continue as a niche network and an escape for the people (like me and tons I know like me) who have become over-saturated by the other networks. Remember your roots in the WB and UPN - networks that showed quality *different* television.

Remember Buffy? In seven seasons, that show went from WB to UPN and is a cultural phenomenon. There are college courses, non-fiction books on the philosophy of the show, not to mention all the marketing of novel tie-ins, comic books, action figures, etc and a spin-off that spawned 5 seasons with its own cult following and marketing bonanza.

And that's not the only show the WB or UPN created that has become a pop culture icon.

So why are you fixing what isn't broken?

1.) Promote shows that are not the mainstream. Supernatural is a great example. All too often, I see ads for the network or the network shows mentioned in magazines and this show is either NOT mentioned or receives 1-2 sentences at the bottom of the page.

Despite the fact that it's in the toughest time slot currently on TV (if not in the history of TV) with the #1 and #2 tv shows of the week airing at the same time, it pulls in consistent ratings on par with, if not higher than, shows on its own network. If that doesn't speak to the fact that your viewers are tuning in and liking what they see, what else will?

2.) Avoid the reality TV glut. In my informal poll, 85% of the people I talked to said they'd given up watching them because they were fake, boring, and overplayed. (Which begs the question - why do they get ratings? Because there's nothing else on!)

3.) Play to your strengths. You're a fledgling network built from the best parts of what were the two youngest networks on TV. You market yourself as young and hip - so create shows that your young, hip audience will watch. (We promise, we'll drag our parents, friends and significant others along for the ride.)

Thanks for listening!

Reality TV is so pointless in my opinion. Most people agree that all life has been sucked out of the genre and that it really isn’t worth their time, yet, people watch it anyway because it’s mindless “fun”. Watching reality takes no brainpower and is therefore easy and relaxing after a long day… but it isn’t something most people would rush home to watch because, in the end, they don’t really care. What is the point of making pointless TV? What happened to bringing the viewer quality programming? The plan to introduce more reality to the CW makes me quite sad. Spend time on scripted programs instead… make them good and make them entertaining and make people care. That should be the greatest accomplishment for a network. Making their viewers care.
Personally, I would never tune into the reality stuff. I have no interest in it whatsoever because it doesn’t give me anything at all.

No, I think scripted programming is the way to go. Shows like Veronica Mars and Supernatural are good quality shows. Gilmore Girls used to be too…. And One Tree Hill is at least something that makes a lot of viewers care.

Supernatural is my favourite show on this network… hell, it’s my favourite show all together.
The show has a lot of things going for it. The two lead characters are some of the most multi-layered and interesting characters to hit the screen in a long time. Dean and Sam Winchester are so rich in their personalities and the characters develop throughout the show in a believable way. Both have loveable characteristics but also some less so, which makes them realistic and alive. Great characters both of them… so alike and so very very different. The actors. Not only are these two guys smoking hot, but they are damn good at their job. Jensen Ackles does such incredible work with Dean and Jared Padalecki has proved himself to be more than capable too, with his portrayal of Sam. The show is great mix of a main mytharc storyline and standalones episodes and there’s always something to sink you teeth into (other than the boys). There’s kick ass demon hunting, there’s classic rock, there’s humour, there’s emotion, there’s angst, there’s a 67 Chevy Impala and much much more. Most importantly, though, is that it is so realistic…within its universe of course. Kripke, I love this show. I’m quite the TV junkie and I can honestly say that I’ve never loved any show more than this… Supernatural deserves a long life (and if “Reaper” tries anything the Winchester boys will kick its ass).

Oh man, I am so sick of "reality television" shows. They're not real (the simple fact that the cast is being filmed all the time keeps it from actually being real), and so often they seem hurtful and contrived - and contrived to be hurtful! Please, no more!

What we need is more shows like Supernatural. It's smart, and funny, and nuanced, and there's a depth and complexity to the stories and relationships that make it far more true than any "reality" show. The young actors who play Sam and Dean are turning in consistently excellent performances -- there's never a mis-step. Really, I can't say enough good things about them. They're great-looking, sure, but they're also giving us the truth of the characters they play, in a way that's rare on television or even in the movies. I've never seen two actors do such an amazing job with their roles, and I've never watched a show more deserving of another season.

It attracts a wonderfully wide and eclectic range of viewers, too - including 42-year-old professionals like me, with a fair amount of disposable income and a commitment to spending it with advertisers who support the shows we love. I never miss this show, I drag my friends over to watch it and they invariably fall in love with it too, and I re-watch this season on DVR and first season on DVD. I'll be buying second season as soon as it hits the shelves. If there's a third season, I'll be getting that as well, I guarantee it. This show is a winner, through and through.

I am absolutely tired of reality shows; if the CW station decides to cancel Supernatural, the only CW show I watch, I'll never look at any CW show ever again. Honestly, if it was not for Supernatural, I'd have never glanced at the CW station. Smallville and Gilmore Girls are hovering at the brink of being over, but Supernatural is not.

Supernatural is just starting, and if you also eliminate the show, you'd lose many, many loyal fans, and trust me; those loyal fans will never watch another show even a trashy, reality show on the CW station. I know because I will never watch, it'd be so obvious that the CW only cares about being a trashy station rather than being a respectful station that shows unique SCRIPTED shows.

Reality TV is okay for a laugh every once in awhile, but scripted TV is so far superior. A user-created video show doesn't interest me at all; I have the internet, I'll go to YouTube. Deliciously trashy sounds like reruns of Jerry Springer; once-a-month entertainment when there's nothing better to do. Definitely not something I'd sit down and watch.

Supernatural is the best show on TV right now. I like scripted shows with serious plots that presume a bit of intelligence -or at least an elementary school education- in the viewer.

Favorite show on the network...7th Heaven, baby!

Based on its past, it's been the most successful show the network currently has...at one point (in the 90s and early 2000s) grabbing 9-10 million viewers EVERY WEEK!

And look at the pathetic-ly rated shows the CW calls "hits" nowadays. :P

Yuck.
I'll probably end up never watching the CW if it's all like that.

I have lots of friends who call reality TV their "guilty pleasure" but personally, I loathe it and WISH there was far less of it on the air. I adore Supernatural--it's very well done, fun and exciting and I hope very much that it gets a third season. I would love to see more intelligent thriller-type shows like Supernatural, X-Files, Medium and Millenium rather than another pretty people soap opera like One Tree Hill. Maybe a cool crime drama? Those do very well on other networks. But definitely Supernatural needs to come back. It's the best show going on the CW!

Give us more Supernatural! There's already too much reality junk on television as it is. (Mother/daughter trashy beauty pageant? Are you SERIOUS?) Supernatural is not only the best show on the CW, it's the best show in all of television. THAT's the kind of show you should be developing. Plot, good writing, good acting, unique storylines. Enough of this reality crap already. It's embarassing.

While I comprehend that the basic level of making a reality show can be somewhat less expensive than the extensive aspect of sets and script writers, etc. The show can, essentially, write itself if you have a decent team of editors...

However, shows like "Supernatural" are competing against a hugely competitive group of programs and still getting quite a few viewers. Let's keep up the quality, scripted programs!

I do not watch 'reality TV' at all on any network and never will. I almost exclusively watch genre TV and the CW is one of the few places left I can watch those shows. I strongly hope you'll be renewing Supernatural. It's smart, funny, and sexy, and you should be promoting it far more - you've got some real quality in this show. I think it may even have the potential to outstrip all of Joss Whedon's shows, and even X-Files, if it continues, and continues to improve and grow, for a few more seasons.

For new shows, I'd like to see more like Supernatural, something well-written, well-cast, adult, something that pushes the boundaries. I wish the CW would aim for maturity and originality over 'family friendly' and predictable.

I'm honestly done with reality tv, the only one I really even pay attention to is Big Brother...and I usually don't hang in for all 2-3 months.

I love the scripted shows that surprise and intrigue me. Both Supernatural and Veronica Mars do this for me, they're not repetitive like every single reality show. Like someone already said, reality shows kinda play down to their audience, it's just mindless junk which makes my eyes roll back into my head. I want a story that I can follow and have me guessing each week and looking forward as to whats coming next. I never really knew what it was to completely love a show until I watched these two shows.

Reality tv may seem like a quick and dirty way to attract an audience, but it's no substitute for a well-written story. Look at Heroes, Dexter, The Sopranos - I think the CW needs to try to make shows like that. Get some really, really great writers!

I despise reality tv. More to the point, I despise the CW's attempt to market such nonsense as the Search for the Next Pussycat Doll as something that encourages female empowerment. It's insulting in the extreme to their female viewers, yet the network tops that with an even more horrible concept - a mother/daughter beauty pageant tv show. Have you not seen the sad documentaries following young girls, no older that what, 5 or 6 to beauty pageants and forced to plaster fake smiles on their faces while they pretend to be years older than they are? What's next, following Paris and Nicole to the CW's own version of Fat Camp? Not Beautiful Enough Camp? All of this low-brow reality TV is a horrendous addition to the network.

I would prefer a focus on scripted shows. Supernatural has already garnered a devoted fan following in it's second season. Why pass on a Green Arrow show when the episode, Justice, rated so high, and it has Smallville to lead off from? Where's the next Gilmore Girls show? Or the next Veronica Mars? Please don't treat your audience like idiots out for their daily reality fix.

We deserve better than that.

Unfortunately Veronica Mars is probably dead (I'm not hopeful of any FBI retooling) and let's face it, Alexis won't re-sign her contract so Gilmore Girls is done. That leaves Supernatural as the only promising thing on the network.

However, like others I totally expect the CW to have a majority of reality programming in a couple of seasons just so it can survive. Reality fluff brings in ratings. Reality fluff doesn't cost much to produce. From a business standpoint it makes sense, and I doubt the CW will create many decent scripted programs on its own because it insists on marketing to the 18-34 demo only, and appealing to teens. That's a mistake.

"Teen programming" is too trendy and doesn't have staying power. The glut of baby boomers--active baby boomers who spend more than their parents did and who travel--just started turning 60. They buy products. They'll spend impulsively. They like television, too. There are plenty of people out there age 35-70 who don't sit in a rocking chair all day. Why not try to develop some older skewing scripted programming? No one's going to arrest Dawn for changing her mind. Heck, the CW would have better luck as a network if it tried to carve out a genre niche, IMHO. More Supernatural type programs. I do agree that Supernaturall's success is almost "accidental," as someone else said down thread in the comments. How do you duplicate chemistry like Jared and Jensen's that's so genuine and amazing? Can the network get that lucky again? It had better try something.

Quite honestly, the fact that scripted television has been making a comeback again in the last couple of years has renewed my faith in television. Reality TV can be amusing from time to time, but there's only so much of it you can take. I can't begin to describe my love for Supernatural and it seems that like a lot of other people here, I want -- no, NEED it to stay on the air as part of The CW's fall line-up. The show truly is one of the best on television and certainly the highlight of my week.

Supernatural is one of the best shows on television today, and I sincerely hope it will continue for a good long time. As for 'reality shows', I loathe them and will not watch them.

I watch TV for stories--stories that move me, stories that make me think, stories that take me someplace I haven't been. A good TV show can accomplish all of those things. A really good one--like "Supernatural"--can accomplish them all in a single episode.

I can understand the CW executives' desire to raise ratings and lower costs. But is this really the type of network they set out to create when they merged the WB and UPN? Do they really want to go from the networks that created and aired quality scripted shows like "Buffy," "Angel," "Veronica Mars," and "Supernatural" to the network best known for "The Search for the Next Pussycat Doll"?

What do I want to see more of? Quality scripted shows like "Supernatural." Specifically, I want to see more "Supernatural," so I dearly hope the CW renews it for a third season, and I'd like more "Veronica Mars" if the creator can figure out how to bring back the show's spark. Shows of that quality, not "trashy" reality TV, are what you build a network on.

I'm very much a fan of scripted programming. I adore Supernatural, and because of it I usually catch Smallville as well.

A few years ago, I usually watched 6-7 primetime television hours a week, sometime in blocks of 2-3 hours a night.

Now, I'm down to about three hours a week and Supernatural is probably the only show I watch devotedly. And I watch reruns as well.

And the reason I watch less television now is because of the reality shows. I don't like them, I never watch them -- I don't care if it's Pussycat Dolls or Survivor; if I wanted that inane a level of interaction, I'd watch QVC more often. And other networks aren't making me that happy either because there's only so many iterations of CSI and L&O I'm willing to put up with.

Supernatural is giving me exactly what I want in a show: compelling characters, interesting storylines, excellent acting and writing, and a lot of fun besides.

The thing is, I *love* television. I like the writing and the stories, I like being engaged. I like being surprised and I very much like caring about what happens to favorite characters from week to week.

The more reality TV there is -- the less likely I am to watch TV at all.

I know the CW has to do what they have to do to keep the network alive. If dragging more reality television shows into the mix is a necessity then it must be done. However, I am not a fan of reality television. I have my own reality called life and I will not be bored watching a bunch of every day people act up because a camera is shoved in their faces.

When I tune into a show, it has to be extremely interesting to keep my interest. While I admit I tune into One Tree Hill on a regular basis, it is lacking in that department. It has been for the last couple seasons. I only stay tuned because I watched it from day one. In fact I think it has had it’s run and would like to see an interesting ending to make up for the wasted hours I tuned in the past couple years. The same goes for Smallville. While Smallville is still interesting, it just seems the original cast has lost interest in the show.

Supernatural is by far my favorite show on the CW. In fact it is my favorite show ever on any station. I seriously doubt the CW could top this well written and directed show. The charisma between the two characters is so real it zaps me out of my reality for one hour a week. I’d like to see more shows like this one. I think the CW should have a sit down with Mr. Kripke and ask him if he has any other show ideas. I remember his show Tarzan from the WB and that one swept me off my feet just like Supernatural has. Sadly the network never gave it a chance and it ended during the first season.

I like a show with a heavy level of angst and drama. When it turns into One Tree Hill where everyone is sleeping with everyone it’s a major turn off.

I think the show where fans can comment online sounds like a fresh idea.

I hate reality television. There's more than enough 'reality' in my real life, thank you. When I watch television, I'm looking for something else -- something that makes me think, makes me feel something, and takes me places, so to speak. I watch Supernatural, so if the CW wants my viewing hours, they'd do best by first of all renewing that show, and secondly, bringing in similar programming. Give me smart, sexy, sharply-written drama or comedy, and I'm all yours.

I'll admit, I watched the first Pussycat Doll show for only one reason, to see Sandra McCoy - Jared Padalecki's girlfriend - and I have not watched it since and will not watch it again ,but then again, I don't watch reality shows.
So that brings me to my point...Supernatural is the only show that I can't miss and it would be a travesty if it was not renewed!

I would definitely, totally and completely love to see more of Supernatural. I despise reality TV; come on, people! You want reality, go outside.

I was drawn into Supernatural by a couple of my guy friends this summer and I have to say I haven't been so into something in a long time. I'd be hearbroken to see it go, so I'm up there with everyone else: hoping it gets picked up for a third season.

My all-time favorite show is Supernatural! i've been a huge fan since day one! Jensen and Jared just have great chemistry together and i love watching it whenever its on, i dont have CW but i try and watch it on fridays and saturdays on space and citytv on mondays! it sucks that they are have to go up agains grey's and csi, but i think Supernatural will come back for a third season!! its just so amazing. every episode is. the last one, Heart, seriously made me cry. it was THAT good! I cant wait till the books and stuff come out :) im really looking forward to getting those!

I'll try not to repeat everything that has been posted thus far. Everyone has expressed, quite well, my feelings about the programming on the CW. Please, networkers, follow Eric Kripke's lead and don't write down to your audience, as I believe reality programming does.
I am a faithful follower of such shows as X-Files, West Wing, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, and CSI. Supernatural and Veronica Mars are the only shows on the CW that live up to those standards. I'd love to see more scripted shows with the same potential.

I have to say also that Supernatural is the one and only thing I'm willing to tune in for regularly. I've spent money on merchandise, bought season one box sets and I fully intend to purchase all the neat and interesting related books coming out this year. :) It's a wonderful show and the cast and crew work so hard on it. I would pretty much have no interest in the CW, or it's new lineup of reality shows, if Supernatural was canceled.

I have no desire to see another reality show. There are too many out there in tv land now and I rarily watch those either. I watch CW for its scripted shows, specifically Supernatural! Its the only show on my 'can not miss' list each week. I hope it comes back this fall!!

Supernatural, hands down. I've never cared about a TV show anywhere near as much as this one. If it weren't for Supernatural, I would never even spare a second glance at the CW.

I'm so burned out on reality TV, and the trashier it is, the less likely I am to watch it. The Pussycat Dolls show is a great example of everything I avoid. How about some programming for the rest of us, the people who love shows like Supernatural, who like scary, smart plots and emotional arcs and drama that doesn't revolve around pretty girls vomiting? Ugh!

Supernatural is my favorite show, and it would be such a shame if it wasn't brought back for a third season. It's awesome. I also have love for Smallville, but I think it's just about run its course. VM has also been run into the ground, unfortunately. And I don't want a bunch of new shows "like" Supernatural; I want Supernatural. It'd be a shame if it isn't given a chance in a less fatal time slot. I'd be one very disappointed viewer.

Oh, no! Not more reality programming! Reality TV is a modern day plague and I wish it was done running its course so we could all move on to more quality programs like Supernatural.

Supernatural is the best thing I've seen on television in a long, long time. I haven't been this invested in a show since the X-Files. Everything -- from the conception, the writing, the directing, the camerawork, the acting -- EVERYTHING about this show is absolutely first-rate.

The only thing that could be improved on with Supernatural is its time-slot. Please don't let this show go!

While I'm a total ANTM addict, I recognize it for what it is - ultimately forgettable fluff. But when it comes to such strong programming like Supernatural, I just can't get it out of my head. The show delivers each and every week, the cast and crew work their asses off, and the storyline has a great mix of mythology and stand alones. Not since Joss Whedon have I seen a show with such a great ability to make me laugh and cry within the same five minutes.

I honestly don't like reality tv. I hate Idol, I hate Amazing Race, Survivor all those shows. I won't lie though, I do enjoy The Pussycat Dolls. That's the first reality show I've ever gotten invested in. I'm much more of a fan of the scripted show.

I'd love to see Supernatural return, as well as Veronica Mars-well if they could get that show back to it's Season 1 goodness.

I absolutely only tune in for the scripted shows. I'm a huge fan of Supernatural, Gilmore Girls, and Veronica Mars. Nothing else the network currently has going really interests me.

About the only 'reality' tv I watch is on the Food Network (go Ace of Cakes!)

I also love Supernatural. I've followed this show with a fervor ever since it started. And if the future of the CW are shows like Viewsers, then I'll take my viewing elsewhere!

Reality TV has gone well beyond entertaining and moved into the categories of Overdone, Jaded, and Boring.

The CW struggles enough against the bigger networks without ruining its programming line-up with more reality TV. People don't want to see 17 new reality shows, we want the shows we know and love, like Supernatural, Smallville, and others. Personally, I think Supernatural is the best thing the CW's got at the moment and if the network is wise, they'll keep it for quite a few more seasons. People talk about it being the new X-Files, but it's also the new Buffy, and I believe it could change the genre the way Buffy changed the genre; it could be as influential and could gather as loyal a following as Buffy still has to this day, but only if it's given enough time to grow into the show it's already showing potential for.

I don't watch reality t.v., and I'm sure not going to start for the CW.

Oh, wait, I do watch MythBusters. But that's definitely not the sort of reality show I'll be finding on the CW next year, looks like.

I mean. Yikes.

I'd like to see more shows like Supernatural - but I don't mean that to sound like I'm asking for 'hot young guys running around chasing ghosts.' What I like about Supernatural is that it's intelligent, works hard at character development, keeps characterization and stories mature but at the same time makes it all fun, interesting, and scary. That's what I would love more of on the CW. That's what would get me watching this network more than one night a week.

I loathe reality shows and I don't watch them. What interests me is interesting plot, good acting and new and different characters that I can involve myself in every week. I would be extremely dissapointed to see the CW go down the road of trashy reality TV ala FOX. I don't want "deliciously trashy" in fact, calling it that is a even bigger turn off for me.

My favorite show on the CW (and in fact on television) is Supernatural (which is apparently popular with my fellow commentors as well. It's fun, interesting, has great leads and is different. It captures my attention by being scary, making me think and also relating to me. I like that it focuses on family, the occult, the midwest. I like that it's scripted and not deliciously trashy.

I also enjoyed Veronica Mars up until this season as well as Smallville up until this season.

I hope you read and consider this comment from a loyal viewer of one of your shows. Please don't change.

I enjoy ANTM, but I wouldn't care if it were cancelled and never shown again. On the other hand, I love Supernatural, and I would miss it terribly if it were cancelled. I understand that CW will have some reality programming to pad out the schedule and get ratings for cheap, but at the same time having well-done shows like Supernatural and Gilmore Girls are ways that the network can shine creatively and present a unique product. The reality shows aren't unique in any way, and they don't bring anything new to the viewing public.

Supernatural, definitely. It's such a good show, great plot, awesome actors and it's very interesting.

I think the story of Supernatural is just beginning (eventhough there has been 2 seasons already) so don't quit it too early.

I really really hope that Supernatural comes back. I started watching it this season and it has quickly become my all-time favourite show. The premise is awesome, every episode is like a mini-movie and it is so entertaining. It's funny, scary, dramatic; everything you could want in a show. Oh, and not to mention, those Winchester boys? Very very sexy...I think I will go through winc-drawal if the show isn't renewed...

I enjoy some reality shows (e.g. America's Next Top Model), but there's only so much reality television a person can take. I much prefer scripted shows. I find them smarter, more interesting, more creative, more thought-provoking, and more addictive.

Supernatural is by far my favourite show on The CW. Sam and Dean are irresistable, and every single aspect of the show has just been getting better and better all season. There's so much to explore in that universe and I absolutely cannot get enough of it.

I think reality TV is overrated. Why do I want to watch TV to see reality stuff? Isn't the point of TV shows to have a fictional story to be entertained by and to escape from the reality of your life? I say if theCW is going to replace my favorite TV shows with reality crap, then I will no longer watch this network.

I only watch Veronica Mars, One Tree Hill & Supernatural. Now that that Pussycat Dolls show is in VM & OTH's spot (which, by the way, I think is utterly ridiculous. The damn show doesn't need to be shown twice in one week. It was fine on just Tuesday), I have no reason to watch theCW on any day other than Thursday.

I'll admit to watching 'America's next top model', enjoy it even, but I don't worry about whether or not I miss it ... if I'm home and it's on I'll watch.

Reality shows in general just leave me cold ... the ideas for them just get more and more tasteless or bizarre ...

I think I'll echo the comments left by the other people on here .. the one show that I have to watch when it is on is Supernatural .. Okay it doesn't hurt that the leads are great to look at but I enjoy the stories, the writing is excellent with humour and angst intertwining perfectly.

I was addicted to The X Files back in the day and never thought another show would quite do it for me ... Supernatural does, on many levels. It can freak you out, make you laugh and even make you cry on occasion - how many 'reality shows' can do all that?

If the CW is still seriously considering, at this stage, which shows to renew and they haven't yet made up their minds they can't go wrong with Supernatural ... with this show they have a thoroughbred in their stable ... and they need to keep it or else they'll just find themselves loaded up with a bunch of mules.

To be honest, the only shows I watch on the CW are Supernatural and One Tree Hill...I have watched both shows from day one. There is no way that the CW would be the same without these two shows.

Trashy does not equal delicious. It DOESN'T. I suppose that's what sets me apart from the millions of people who tune into reality TV and force networks to take this path.

You know what works for the CW? Going outside of the box and letting a creative team work its magic. That's how they've ended up with Supernatural, which, while not a ratings giant by any means, is the freshest and most exciting piece of programming on the entire network. I am much less than optimistic about the next season line up for the CW - at this point, all I care about is whether Supernatural gets picked up.

I hope Supernatural will return. I've never felt this strongly drawn into a show before. To prove that not only chicks are watching it - my brother, 21 straight guy, probably loves it even more than I do. Yes, it is just that good.

Personally, I'm not a fan of reality shows. I tend not to watch them.

My favorite show on the network is Supernatural. I loathe reality programming. However, I'm not surprised to see CW skew reality heavy. Reality is mindless programming that brings in the ratings and it's cheap to produce. The CW needs money. It needs ratings and ad revenue to survive.

Long term, it needs more programs like Supernatural (sadly, VM is finshed; it's gotten too light this season anyway) to survive, but will this happen? Supernatural is great, but it's almost like lightning in a bottle. The chemistry of Jensen and Jared (and on those special occasions Jeffrey and Jim Beaver) is so off the charts that I don't think it could be duplicated. Supernatural's success is almost like an accident.

Supernatural is one of the cleverest and freshest shows to bless The CW Television Network and the network executives would be clearly out of their minds if they sacked a show like this. Eric Kripke created a fabulous show and it would be a crime in itself if it ended so abruptly without being given a chance like other shows clearly have in the past.

Supernatural is like "The X-Files" of our generation and we hardly see such genres of this show anymore. Dean and Sam Winchester (nicely played by Jensen Ackles & Jared Padalecki) have a great sibling relationship and shows that focus on family and the relationships don't come off realistic but this one does. Sam is the modern day Luke Skywalker to Dean's (guns blazing - devil may care attitude) Han Solo and the actors have great chemistry and it would be a travesty if Supernatural did not return for a third season.

As a fan of the show and creator Eric Kripke, I'm certain the show WILL indeed get picked up...it just has to.

I love Supernatural and it will come back. One Tree Hill has been a favorite of mine since day 1 but this season SUCKS! This is coming from a fan who has been to the set of oth and has the books, calendars, and dvds and clothes. OTH wont be back if it does come back it wil leave after season 5. Also VM will get canned.
