Gilmore Girls: Rory's Rejection, Lorelai and Luke's New Start

Rory was rejected -- now what? Last night's episode really felt like old Gilmore Girls, in the best possible way (although we're missing Emily and Richard. Please, bring them back next week!). Lorelai back at Luke's diner! A cute subplot for Sookie and Jackson! Rory and Paris interaction (and subsequent Paris craziness)! We loved it. Missed any of it, or just want to relive some of the best moments? Read our full recap.

Paris got accepted to EVERY SINGLE law and med school she applied to. Wow. Makes up for her undergrad rejections, don'tcha think? Paris is quite impressive. However, she managed to (as only Paris can) turn her many acceptances into a problem, temporarily breaking up with Doyle and stressing about where to go next. Fortunately, Doyle would have none of her neuroses, and he insisted that wherever she went, he'd be right be her side. Aw, Doyle! Are you a fan of those two together, or would you have preferred that they go their separate ways?

Meanwhile, Lorelai finally showed her face at Luke's dinner for the most awkward cup of coffee ever observed. Things became way more normal when they went car shopping together later, though. It was like old times! Crazy Lorelai and sane Luke bantering and bickering... if only we could've had this all season (yes, after watching them together again, we are once again turning into very biased fans of this couple).

The lighthearted episode ended on a decidedly somber note when Rory finally received a letter from the Times about her fellowship... a rejection letter. Poor Rory! It's so hard when everyone else seems to have a plan and you don't. And this is one of the few times in her life Rory's been rejected. At least she didn't steal a boat this time (yet)... Were you surprised that she didn't get the fellowship?

What'd you think of the episode? What do you think Rory should do next? Should Logan and Doyle be big factors in the girls' future plans? The promos made it look like Logan makes up for his absence this week in a big way next week...

And as for Lorelai and Luke -- think they're headed in the right direction?

i wish rory had said yes to logan. the story ended so weird. it made me feel so empty.

This is soooooooo stupid... i can't believe that Rory and Logan don't get married or Luke and Lorelai

i miss the old episodes :(

the small town cozy feeling of the show is much missed by me.

Rory should Marrie Logan

i think that gilmore girls should have another season. i mean WHY do they have to give up. they could have luke or lor get married and have a kid since alexsis did not want to do it. they could make rory pop up sometimes. anyway it would make sense because rory would be at her job in iowa. aso wat ever happened to dean. well i think they should have had another season.

i agree with amber rory and jess make a perfect couple. they should get married. they arenperfect for each other. i think jess or dean should come back. any waz what ever happened to Dean. did he move away. did he marry someone else. well if he did he will still love rory same with jess.

PLEASE please replay the episode for those of us in LA who missed it for the banal questioning of the brush fire coverage...At least let us see it online somehow

i was sooo freaked out when rory said no to logan and was even more annoyed when lorelai stated she had made a good choice. that is so much crap.she isnt sure of her own destiny marriage wise and she seems so comfortable allowing rory make a really big mistake. i hope n pray that rory rethinks it and says yes to logan. i mean why coudnt the last episode end with rory's marriage ceremony to logan?

did you know lane (keiko agena) in real life is 33 years old!!! you can't even tell. well i'm kinda glad she didn't say yes to logan. for me it just never clicked. i'm still into dean or jess. i wonder whats become of dean? hmmm.....

I missed last nights show due to "breaking News" while I live in L.A. I understand being up to date on fire but watching it second by second was trite. Now as for GG. This last season has sucked..I now understand it was due to the main writer leaving...which leads me to believe this has a lot to do with the season ending. Lorelai and Chris getting married was "way" out there. There was never ANY "motherly" feeling from Lorelai towards GiGi...We all know once the couple we want gets together there is no place left for the show to go so I "get" the dragging on and on of Lorelai and Luke.
Now that the show is ending they should go the way of "Friends" GIVE FANS WHAT THEY WANT. Luke and Lorelai...now Rory and? will never make ALL the fans happy. The story line has been Logan growing and he and Rory getting through it all so it makes no sense that Rory said no...(so I heard.PLEASE tell us when we in L.A. area can see the show)
One last thing WHAT are all you Jess fans thinking? He was a small part of Rorys life "the bad boy" She has been building a life with Logan for years and has changed along with Logan bringing them closer. Jess????? Come on that is as bad as Lorelai haveing married Chris.

The attraction of the GG's was the fact that money, power, prestige, materialism was not part of their beings. As wonderful as Logan has evolved in the series, Rory doesn't belong in that plastic world.
Not knowing what the outcome will be I hope that the writers find the essense of these two witty and soulful girls. The men who win their hearts will be the men who connect to the girls passion for life, not the materialism the world offers. My vote is for Jess and Luke.

I am so upset that this is the 2nd to the last episode and I missed it because of Breaking News...yeah its ok to break in and tell us about the fire but not for the whole damn episode...does anyone know where I can watch it online? I don't want to have to wait and be totally confused next week...I am so sad its ending!!! :(

Does anyone know if they are going to reshow the episode from 5-8 b/c of the brush fire interruption? They cut into the show 8 mins. in and I have not been able to find out if they will show it again before some distant future date. I guess Rory said no to Logan, Hooorah!

Rory is stupid. Her Mom is a prime example of how hard it is to find love w the right guy. I guess Yale grads are dumb! I hope she figures out what she gave up and calls Logan next week. There are newspapers everywhere and with the internet she can work wherever!
Lorelei is a slut and doesn't deserve to be with any one. So if she and Luke get back together and then have a fight, who can she run off and sleep with?
I won't miss the inane chatter back and forth, just to hear their own voices. It's way old!

hey, maybe rory will realise that she made a mistake and when she will see lorelai and luke togeher rory will call logan ??? Maybe her job will be in san francisco? I think the writter (exept for lorelai and luke) will put like a big punch at the end... like she call logan? remerber yesterday she said i already miss him... maybe its a sing? I just hope the gilmore girl find love at the end...its very a shame if just lorelai and luke the punch.... the decided to end gilmore girl, can they , at least, give the public, what the really want, lorelai and lukeand rory and logan... come who voted for that??? Are you on my side???

uhhh i hate breaking news it took over gilmore girls and now i didnt get to see the episode... who cares about watching a brush fire for like 3 million hours its the same shot, f**k

I thought that it was a great episode after everything that Luke and Lorelai went through they are finally going to be together in the final episode from what I heard. As far as Rory and Logan, Rory was stupid to turn down Logan's offer. Logan really loves her and went through all that trouble and was even nice enough to ask Lorelai for her permission. Logan is like a one in a million find because he is sweet and really cares, that only problem is Rory didn't want him and thought that having no future plans was a better idea...How stupid.

ahh Rory and Jess...that's all i'm going 2 say

GG now iz ruined 4 me iz rory mental logan jus asked her 2 marry her i dont care anymore bout jess its over. she needed 2 get married 2 logan he was so sweet loving and patient as she was to him. The girl even slept with him im in a way happy da show iz ending before they ruin Gilmore Girls forever for me. Atleast from the commercials luke and lorelai are gonna be back together. This show needs to end because its just not the same anymore. PLEASE MAKE HER MARRY LOGAN. eventhough thats not probably going to happen i still can hope. Ill watch the series finale but its over now. This rory that i see i dont like. She doesnt know what she wants, or where shes really going. Plus she was drinking before her GRADUATION! this rory needs to go marry logan and get over herself and her problems.

WHY WHY WHY WHY???????? Why did she refuse Logan? Hopefully he will try again at her Bon Voyage party next week. I mean, if Lor & Luke get their "happy ending", WHY CAN'T RORY & LOGAN?????!!!!!

Can we tell I'm furious?! They are so right for one another and so in love and have overcome so much. What gives with the writers?!

Just saying....

Melissa O in NYC

ya ummm..
WHERE THE HELL IS LANE?

This episode was okay, but they kept all the good stuff til the end. i mean, with the series ending... every episode needs to be action packed to get all its closure in! personally, lorelei and luke belong together and its plain to see. Her and christopher are living in two different worlds which i think they are just now realizing will never collide. as for rory and logan... i honestly don't see chemistry. theyre cute, yeah, but seriously.. RORY AND JESS!!! that would be the best series finale EVER! BRING JESS BACK! they totally belong together and i think the reason she'll say no to logan is because she never got over jess!! JESS JESS JESS JESS JESSSS pleaaase!!

The whole episode was a little awkward, but I'm just glad to get Chris OUT of the picture! Luke and Lorelai are soooo perfect, I was cringing myself at the awkwardness!

I was kind of suprised that Luke didn't make more of a scene out of it. Because it was, in fact, a terrible break-up, (sob!) and then, all of a sudden, it's like, Oh, Chris is gone, I'll go back to Luke's! Urrrgh! Luke! We love your ranting! RANT MORE! I kinda wish he would of exploded earlier in the season. Dropped by lorelai's house while Chris was there (or rather, when he wasn't!!) and just...be Luke!

I don't think I could bare not having a satisfying season/series finale. I might explode! WE NEED EVERYTHING ANSWERED! PLEASE, DAVID! Show some love for the Java Junkies!

Maybe throw some Rory/Jess love in there!?

I think Lorelai and Luke should be together, for the simple fact that they both love and belongs to Stars Hollow, and would rather live a simple and carefree life, instead of living rich and stuckup life like her parents and now Chris life as well, and not to forget Logan and his family. And it seems as if Rory is also walking in her mother's footstepts.
I love the Gilmore girls and I do hope it continue to be aired.

Rory should marry Logan; not only could he help her with her carree, he loves her, which in these days a man like that is hard to find.
Lorili should stay married to Chis; Luke is stupid. Chris has always loved Lorili, it is just that she is so hard against her mother and so independent she does not realize she loves him too. Rorys friend should go on tour with her husband and raise their children together; it is a sign of the times; they sould be able to get a nanny and do their thing together; the important thing is family and the one you really love. Lorili is in love with the thought of Luke, not Luke, Rori is in love with the thought of the grass may be greener on the other side; and her friend with the twins; thinks if she stops her husband from this special band trip, he will not love her. The truth is: Lorili loves Chris and he her, Rory loves Logan and thinks she loves someone because of looks, and Rorys' friend with the twins thinks about culture; when she should think love and being with her husband.

Why boring? They had to catch up with a year of c*** stories and tried in one episode.
Why do I don't believe who says it? Did you like 7.01 to 7.02? It sounds like someone that wants to shelve Gilmore Girls or for some reason doesn't want it to come back.

They showed characters that try to build their career or regaining a big friend. Lorelai enters her favorite diner after long time. The diner where they have her fav coffee, food and one of top persons in her life. She wants her former fiancé back as well.

Rory have been rejected at least once. After that she stole a boat, dropped college and broke up with her mother.
About the scenes where LL were ubcomfortable, of course they were. They broke the engagement and the same night she slept with Rory's father. Then married him. After that Lorelai and her husband both understood she has feelings for Luke.
One day they start acting like friends again, who'd not feel awkward?

I thought that this episode was a little boring.

I tried. I really did. And I know all you fans loved this episode. But I'm a fan, too.

I found this episode incredibly shallow. So things were awkward between her and Luke. But what did she feel that made them awkward? And why did she feel those things? What I've always loved about Gilmore Girls is that there's always many layers of depth to the entire story. It's not just about witty banter; it's about witty banter that shows us something about the characters. What came out were just lines spoken into the camera. No motivation.

It was boring. And not just plain boring. Agonizingly boring. The kind of boring that makes you want to shoot the TV so you won't have to watch it anymore. I even went so far as to rewrite the first scene, just to figure out what I thought was missing.

Old Lorelai and Luke back.
It was great, but late.

Anyway it was a great episode.
We deserved it.

It looks like they are setting up Rory's NY Times rejection and Paris' situation as a reason to refuse Logan's marriage proposal. This does not work on any level. I'm all for Rory having the career she wants. But that doesn't mean she can't have Logan too. If Rory refuses Logan after being so in love with him for years then she won't "modern" or "independent". She will be selfish, insecure, and cold-hearted. It is a shame. If that happens Rory's rep. with me will be forever damaged. The career or husband storyline is very contrived and cliche'. Not a good way to end this series or season. Not good at all.
