Supernatural: Hollywood Fun
Glee! Everyone was having so much fun with this episode – the writers, the actors, heck, probably even the PAs. Nothing like mocking the hand that feeds you.
There were so many things to love about this episode. Plenty of gore, great guest stars, and a plot that actually hung together. What’s more, it counts as a cautionary tale: Don’t piss off the writers, because they can be dangerous. How much giggling did you think went on in the writers’ room when they decided to gruesomely off studio execs for tampering with a script? We can almost see their little happy dance right now.
Yeah, yeah, we know, it was pure fluff, but hey, we like the boys to be happy every once in a while. And it looked like Dean got to live out a whole bunch of his fondest dreams. Pop-culture icons everywhere? Check. Free food for the taking? Check. A comely, willing starlet? Check. What more could he ask for? Plus, he got to show off his extensive store of geekboy movie knowledge. Did anyone else laugh out loud when he looked at Sam in disbelief and snarked “You know nothing of your cultural heritage, do you?” Finally, he got a chance to show up the book learnin’ of his baby brother.
Sam was equally adorable in this episode, in a sort of bemused way. Apparently he’s more of a book guy, we guess. The whole magic of the movies thing just didn’t seem to do anything for him, but he was so sweet not to burst Dean’s bubble when his big brother was obviously having so much fun. The way Sam walked around the whole time with this “Are you kidding me?” expression on his face – the poor thing looked like he’d be more comfortable with monsters than with self-involved movie types.
And oooooh, the inside jokes. There were so many we probably didn’t catch them all. We snorted at the Canadian weather comment, giggled when Gary Cole asked for brighter colors, and almost did a spit-take at the mention of Boogeyman. What was your favorite in-joke? And do you like this sort of meta-snark, or do you think it’s getting old?
Those of you who skip commercials – you should be kicking yourself, because the fake trailer for the movie they were making was brilliant. Plus, did you catch how all of the titles were callbacks to Supernatural episodes? Which was your favorite? We’re torn between “Monster Truck” and “Carnivore Carnival,” but they were all pretty awesome.
But even amidst all the light-hearted snark, the guys performed with their usual exemplary professionalism. We loved watching Sam and Dean work together to take out the invisible ghosts – nice work with the camera phone there, Sam, and boy, Dean’s a good shot, even when he can’t see what he’s aiming at! We actually loved that this maneuver got incorporated into the fake film at the end. It’s a little piece of the Winchester hunting mojo captured for posterity. Do you think they’ll get residuals?
So what did you think? Did you enjoy the fluff, or are you more in tune with the angst? Do you buy that Dean would fit in so well on a movie set, and the Sam would find the whole thing ridiculous? What was your favorite moment? Does Hell Hazers II – The Reckoning sound like something you’d go see? Tell all in the comments!

Meh...that's what this episode was. Sure it was funny, but the humor was way overdone and overwhelmed the entire episode. Wha?...oh...the guys were hunting ghosts? Really? The balance the writers usually bring into the episodes was tossed aside in HB. This was like a 1 hr long Saturday Night Live skit.
The fact that no matter how angsty or action packed an episode is there is always a little humor to balance it out. The comedic portion is not the main reason I watch SN - that would be the story of Sam and Dean.

i don't know why people would complain about this episode it was fantastic i get that some fans want complete action all the time but then the show wouldn't be as great with out the funny stuff like in this episode it just makes the show more compelling and interesting so keep on doing it CW

Trish: Blogs are for fans to discuss the episodes of their favorite programs. The good points and the bad. If someone dislikes an episode or the timing of the episode and wants to state their opinion, it does not make the person "dumb".

Loved this episode i thought it was clever. And people who don't like it are absolutely crazy! Anything those boys do they do it great and make it so entertaining. People who get on here just to complain are so dumb and they are absolutely wasting their time this is one of the best shows I have ever watched for me its right up there with friends and one tree hill. I love it. So keep it coming its still interesting still perfect. And please keep it on for a third season because I bet it will kick serious ass.

I understand why "Andrew" was not impressed with this episode. If this was the first time I tuned into SN, I also would think this program was cheesy fluff. To Andrew: tune in again this week. There have only been 2 fluff episodes. What is intruiging is the mytharc, which was pushed aside (for whatever reason) to poke fun at Hollywood.
This episode was a 100% stand alone episode that doesn't tie into this season at all.
At this point in the season, TPTB should be delving further into the mytharc, and setting up for ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE, not putting it hold.
Also, this episode (like Tall Tales) interfers with Sam's emotional downward spiral and the flow of the season. The events during "Born Under a Bad Sign" were Sam's emotional breaking point. (I believe Sam lied to Dean about how long he was "awake" while possessed) During Roadkill and Heart, Sam is portrayed as "falling apart". Uh...what happened to this in HB?
This is the order of the episodes:
BUABS
Tall Tales
Roadkill
Heart
Hollywood Babylon
Sam's emotional state in RK & H would have made more sense if TT aired prior to BUABS. HB could have been put on the back burner for the pending Season 3. (Please give us one)
Through the first half of the season Dean's emotional state flowed through the episodes and wasn't broken up. Why break up Sam's angst?
Makes me wonder if the fluff episodes are TPTB or the CW putting pressure to lighted up SN for this fluff network. Sorry, I like the dark, mysterious intruige. Leave the fluff behind Kripke, it's going to ultimately drive fans away.
Unfortunately, I'm disappointed.
Folsom Prison Blues: looks exciting and back to the clever, captivating show I've come to adore. Can't wait.

I loved the episode. It was great for me cause I want to be a procduor, writer, director and creator for tv shows.

This episode was funny. Fanboy! Dean rocked and Sams facial expressions at Deans sheer geekiness was the icing on the cake. Kudos to the guys indeed. I dont know if my favorite part was the graveyard scene where Dean snaps a little on Sam for Johnny Ramone crack or Dean doing the whole Bruce Willis bit. The snark ran amuck this episode and we loved it.

All the in-jokes and humor and goofiness aside, I can't help but feel this is the last time we're going to see either of the boys even close to happy and relaxed for a very long time. Bring it on....

I thought the episode was really funny and, as much as I love the angst, it's good to have every once in a while. It was just a very light and fluffy episode, which doesn't leave too much to talk about. Oh well.
I loved the in-jokes, though...they were hillarious! And Dean was at his most adorkable this episode which was great to see.

This was fluffy and just all around fun! LOL! And ITA, about Sam's expression. Cracked me up the entire episode! LOL!

I loved this episode! MovieGeek!PA!Dean was very entertaining.
It's great to have a fluffy episode every once in a while and the meta-snark was perfect.

What? We had a moment of silence for him. He was a studio guy.
ROTFLMAO!
Gosh, I loved this episode. It was so clever it had me howling. Horror buff that I am, I ate it up, and I love a show that isn't afraid to spoof itself. The boys rule.

This was my first time watching in forever, and I was NOT impressed. I definetely won't make the same mistake and watch this trash again.

I particularly liked how the fans killed the writers...
especially as I didn't catch it right away - it had to be pointed out to me.

The comedy is nice from time to time, but I have been craving a little more demon action since Born Under a Bad Sign. Can't wait for the episode in two weeks!

Supernatural's back. At last!
I loved this episode, it was snarky and sweet and scary, and the actual story was good too. Most importantly, there was a realistic laid-back and caring vibe between the brothers after the angst of 'Heart' - yay! for continuity.
This show is beyond excellent!

I loved this episode!
It was so funny to see Sam get panicky when they were entering the set of Gilmore Girls! It was priceless!
Keep the inside jokes coming!

I loved this episode!!!! It was so funny. Hell Hazers 2 would seem like a good movie, I mean if Dean and Sam were in it!!!

That was absolutely awesome.
We needed this fun fluffy episode. It's all doom and gloom in the last four. We needed this break.

I prefer No Exit, Wendigo and Bugs to this one... that's really saying something. Just, no.

I just loved this episode. But then I also loved Tall Tales. While I wouldn't want to see Supernatural go all funny all the time, this season has been drowning in angst so I found both HB and TT refreshing and necessary.
I cannot express how much I loved Geeky!Fanboy!Dean. He was completely lovable and still badass when necessary. Jensen has this amazing ability to make even the most potentially annoying characterization charming.
I'm so glad the boys are back. I've missed my show something aweful.

I liked it ok it was better the Tall Tales for me. With the exception of Hell House comdey episodes just do not seem to fit into Supernatural. Hell House was so awsome because the geeks where hilariuose and Their contrast to the brothers was great. It had adorable brother moments like the prank war with was so lighthearted and showed great effection from both boys. Sam and Dean where in character and the laughs where athentic. Neither Tall Tales nor Hollywood Babloyn where like that. Movie Geek/PA Dean was adorable and it was so good to see Dean having fun and enjoying himself and getting back to his old self and with all the angst comming it is needed. I do wish they would not go over board on straight Sam Goofy Dean though. Not a terrible episode but it was a good filler.
FPB looks so badass I cannot wait for next week.

This episode was great fun. It's fantastic seeing GeekDean in all his glory, from being a movie buff, to being a star-struck fan, to getting so into his PA role and finally getting the girl at the end. I liked Sam's frustration with Dean the movie geek, his surprise at how easy Dean got into the PA role and truly, this is a great break from the angst and what will surely be some intense episodes coming up. Love this show and the CW should also. It's the best.

I loved this episode I thought it was so funny. I think they need episodes like this once in a while. So all in all I think it’s a great episode, as usual!
Next week look amazing, I’m so excited!
I really hope they come back for a third season! it deserves to for sure.
