Break a Leg, Jensen!
Jensen Ackles will be spending part of his summer vacation on stage in Texas. Anyone up for a road trip?
Yup, the erstwhile Dean Winchester will be sharing the stage with Lou Diamond Phillips in a production of "A Few Good Men" at Fort Worth's Casa Mañana's June 5-10. He'll be playing Lt. Daniel Kaffee, a military lawyer defending two Marines charged with causing the death of a fellow Marine in Guantanamo Bay. If you caught the movie, this is the Tom Cruise role – Lou Diamond Phillips takes the Jack Nicholson role – you know, "You can't handle the truth!"
Congrats on the casting coup, Jensen. Break a leg!

Very excited that he'll be here in June! It's been a long timesince I've been to Casa Manana. It is a small theatre, so everyone will be packed in like sardines, but really, WHO CARES? Ackles and Phillips, what more could you ask for?

I live in the UK, so unfortunately I won't be able to go.
I would however just like to take the opportunity to wish you all the best Jensen and have fun! Break a leg!

Argh, Texas is soooo far off, otherwise I'd be down there in a flash. I'm really proud of Jensen for branching out like this, and I'm sure he'll do an excellent job; it should be a great show in general.

I don't think it's stupid. It's great that he's doing this. I think that every great actor has had some ans should have experience in the theater. I think it gives an actor another dimension of acting technique- remember there's no cameras or second takes, when you're on you're on.
I think his acting has evoloved on SN that a play would just hone those skills more.
Dang I wish I could go and see that- not only to stare, but to see him act in person.

Perhaps we need a "please don't feed the trolls" sign.
Also think its great that Jensen is trying something new. I'm sure he'll be amazing.
I envy all you lucky people who will get to see him live and in person on stage. Should be awesome.
Make sure you come back and tell us all about it! Pleeease!

Why would anyone call a famous Broadway play "stupid stuff"? I don't get it. I'm proud of Jensen for trying something new. I think he's going to be awesome at this and we all know that Jensen is not interested in being "popular" in the Hollywood sense. He just wants to work on projects that he likes.
Personally I can't wait to see it! I have tickets for Saturday night's show and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to see him perform live!

I think Jensen is perfect to play this role. I have the dvd and thought while watching it a couple months back that Jensen has all the talent and charisma that Tom Cruise does, I think even much more than him,why the suits in the movie industry haven't taken notice of him is beyond me.Ladies, you are so lucky to see this live!!! I can't wait to read all about it!

I saw this a while ago. Good for him for finding some acting work close to home. I'm sure a play will be a nice change of pace. Alhtough, I think he has done plays before, so it's not going to be something new for him exactly.
Go to the theater site and have a good laugh at the photoshopped advertisement for the play, though. lol. It made me laugh anyway.

God I wish I was going. He'll be awesome in this play. The guy rocks. And Mr. Leg, doing a stage play on a critically acclaimed show such as "A Few Good Men" is a great opportunity and Jensen's acting talents will shine. Nothing speaks better for actors than Stage Plays and something like this is a very positive point for his resume. Not crappy at all. Learn the facts first, then post.

I can't wait! I'm going to go see it with about a hundred of my closest internet friends. *g* It's an awesome choice for him to keep his talent in shape over the summer, stay close to his family, and try a format he hasn't acted in before. Locals tell me Casa Manana's a small theater, but the productions are excellent and well respected in the community.
If you're a SPN fan and headed to the show, you might want to check out this livejournal community:

We're planning a big fandom dinner Saturday. It should be good times.

It's kinda lame, but I'm guessing he wanted to stay close to home over the hiatus. I think it's good that he does something, and damn that theater is going to be PACKED! Who wouldn't want to see Jensen in person?

CRAPPY! Why he keeps doing this stupid stuff?
