Thats funny, I've watched the show and found nothing interesting or good about it. CW this time you actually promoted hidden palms. I saw the commercials for it 100 times a day, it was so over promoted that it got to the point of me being annoyed. If it didn't earn fans by that much promos then cancelling it is a great idea. Sorry to HP fans, but the show just wasn't good enough. There are other amazing shows that didn't deserve to be cancelled. So get over it and CW don't feel bad for canceling it, that much promos should of gotten so many fans. As for the creater of HP, GET OVER IT! Your show had all the publicity a show can get and even more...

I saw so many promotions for this show that it isn't even funny. So i dont think the cw failed to promote this show because THEY HAVE PROMOTED SHOWS WAY WORST.To be specific VERONICA MARS. Now theres a show that was never promoted. Most people dont even now what it is. Why? Because CW sucked at promoting it.

I LOVE HIDDEN PALMS! omg. this show is seriously my favorite show ever. every episode, something happens that leaves you in shock and yearning for the next episode cause you cant handle waiting to see what happens. i love it so much. some people hate the show with rich kids because they think they are stupid and brag, but really johnny and greta are so intelligent. i love how they talk and how they think. they have a great vocabulary. i just love this show and i will die if it doesnt come back for a second season.

So I personally am in love with this show...you just don't know whats going to happen next unlike one tree hill and the oc etc. (which i was a die hard fan as well) but this show was different it kept you guessing. And because it was aired so late in the year no one watched it because ,people are outside enjoying the weather. If it would have started in the fall then for sure it would have been a hit. One of those shows where u go to school and everyone is like i watched this crazy show called hidden palms and everyone ends up watching it and its a hit! I had no clue about it but i watched all the episodes and now im just thinking what now?! Thats it?! I WANT MORE!

I actually had no idea what it was until i was bored one night on The CW website. I fell in love after the first episode...just dying to know what happen and who was with who and who killed eddie. i stayed up for 5 hours watching all the episodes that were on so far and every week after that i got to watch the last 2! i need to know what happens next season!

Hidden Palms is one of the best shows I have ever seen. I feel that it is better than the O.C. and it had just begun. I am sad for Williams because his show was not properly marketed at all! Dawsons Creek was amazing and this show is even better. Keep the show going and put some effort into it.

Good show, good cast that you all at the CW didn't give a chance. Most people hadn't even heard of the show that I talked to. I just happened to watch the promos & started watching. I have to admit your fall shows are looking lam. I'm a big Smallville and Supernatural fan and I did like Hidden Palms and Everwood and Reba. Come one, give Hidden Palms a chance.

I agree with the majority here stating that The CW has put forth little effort in promoting their shows and the network itself in general. If you don't put money into marketing and advertising and bet all hope that word of mouth will promote your shows, sorry, it is a disaster waiting to happen.
I didn't know that 7th Heaven was resurrected last season until after the season premier had already aired. Missing that episode basically ruined the whole season for me. I am soured completely on The CW for good now. With the cancellation of Everwood, Gilmore Girls, and now Hidden Palms, it can now sulk off into obscurity and disappear forever. I won't miss it a single moment. There are literally hundreds of channels to watch on satellite and cable which translates into thousands of shows ready and waiting to be watched and grab up market share and I am sure other networks have put money into market research and demographic studies to see where they can get the best bang for their netword dollars.

ok what? Hidden Palms is being cancelled!!?? one day this summer i was bored and just decided to go to the CW website because i heard that there was a Gossip Girl show coming out. while i was searching the site, i saw that you could watch full episodes of shows. Hidden Palms being one of them. I started watching and just couldn't stop! I kept coming back to the site until I had watched every episode. I kept wondering why i had never heard of the show and then I remembered that i had...with THE WORST COMMERCIAL FOR A SHOW I HAD EVER SEEN! All the ad was was a girl crying in the rain for about 30 seconds. thats it. why would anyone watch that show after seeing that?! Get someone else to advertise, run the first season again in the FALL not the summer, and you will have people begging for more...like me! So make a second season. it is not the show's fault it had horrible air time and promotion

i think that the CW could have done some things different. The BIGGEST mistake they made was airing Hidden Palms in the Summer! Hidden Palms could have become a HUGE Success, bigger then "The O.C" i believe...it was a New, Fresh...had a GREAT idea for the base of the show. I believe ALOT of people would have caught on & started watching. I mean, look at the people who actually DO watch it now...they absolutley Love it. How could you not? The Cast is an Amazing group, people can relate to.
I think instead of putting blame and saying what the CW did wrong, we should be giving Idea's on how to actually keep the show around!
I know everyone whos a Fan now wants it to stay on the air %150.
One idea i have...Play season 1 OVER AGAIN in the Fall...no one is going to mind watching it again. People can't get enough of the show! You'll get 100x more fans then you have now.
I dont know but its a shame to see that show go. It was great while it lasted.

I did not even watch the first couple Hidden Palm's episodes because all of the commercials I saw for it gave me the impression that the show was just about partying and living the good life, but the show was far from just that. I never saw in the commercial anything to do with the murder mystery, which makes me wonder WHAT WERE THEY THINKING??? That was the whole point of the show: THE MYSTERY.... They should have let the audience know what the show was really about rather than show commercials that didn't do the show justice. Hidden Palms better be back on in the winter.

Hidden palms for sure deserves another season! It is an amazing show and i think if it was in the fall line up for a second season it would do much better. Another reason for it not doing so well was that the CW did a terrible job at promoting it! Give it another chance!

This show was cool. I think uguys should give it a 2 chance. People ddint watch the season finale because its was the 4th and everyone was out doing something and plus its summer put it in the fall and it will get better ratings

I can't believe that Hidden Palms is coming to an end, I and many others are very disappointed. I don't think that it is fair to cancel the show because it had way more potential if it was just given better promotion and a better premiere time such as in the fall. I know for a fact that Hidden Palms would have done WAY better than it did. There may have been low ratings but it premiered in the summer and that isn't very good. I feel that it isn't good to premiere a show in the summer because people are busy going places and doing things. In the summer people go on vacation and go places with friends, family, ect. leaving them with no time to sit at home and watch television. Also people have lives, they aren't going to sit home and watch television when they have opportunities to go out and have fun no matter how good the show.

The ratings were also low because of the marketing. I for one must say that the marketing was PRETTY bad. I mean I have only seen about two commercials for Hidden Palms compared to other shows that haven't even come out yet. I thought you needed to focus more on the shows that were already out and that were having difficulties with the ratings. I am Canadian so I think there should have been more commercials on Canadian channels as well. I thought there should have been more commercials ..not only on the CW channel but other channels as well to let viewers know about the show. I myself found out about the show on the third episode because of the marketing and I couldn't exactly catch up on everything because there are no repeats and tha episodes on the CW website are only for people who reside in the U.S.

I feel that there definately should be a second season not only because I am a fan and just happen to want one, but because the fact that the finale left all the viewers hanging. I felt it was unfair because the fans are now left hanging and wanting to know what happens, there were many questions that were left unanswered such as: Will Johnny ever find out who really killed Eddie?, How will Cliff and Nikki's relationship go?, How will Bob and Karen's relationship go?, and Exactly what did Liza hear Skip and Mrs.Nolan talking about?

Please keep Hidden Palms and give it a fair chance. If you just give it the promotion it needs and never got for the first season and if you give it a better time slot such as in the fall I am sure that you will not be disappointed and that the ratings will be least you have to worry about. I know that Hidden Palms has the potential, please just give it a second chance, don't let the fans down.

I think that this is a great show. I wasn't sure how it was going to be because of the the few advertisements, but this show definitely proved it's worth from the start. The acting is great and so is the plot. I love this show. Give it a chance to be a big hit like One Tree Hill and Gilmore Girls. I am also angry that Gilmore Girls was cancelled. Don't cancel an opportunity for a big hit! It looks like there are plenty of people out there who watch it, despite the lack of advertising. Keep Hidden Palms for a second season. It didn't even reach it's potential in 8 episodes!

Oh my gosh you CANNOT cancel the show especially after the finale!!! It leaves us hanging and you can't just end the show leaving all the viewers hanging that would be a crappy ending. PLEASEEE YOU HAVE TO MAKE A SECOND SEASONN!

I think that since FOX took away the O.C. alot of the fan base tryed desperatley to find something, anything to fill they're teen drama. Many of us luckily found Hidden Palms, it's suspense, thrills, and many twists left us wanting more and more. The actors are all amazing and play their parts soo well that in some cases you're like "Oh wow, I really connect" and some parts you could only imagine what it would be like. There should have been alot more advertising for Hidden Palms, this show is very addictive and just what alot of kids were looking for! My parents even enjoy this show and they're in their early 40's, and they usually don't like the shows that I watch. If they cancel this show then they will probly be really loosing out. This show has alot of potential and already a great fanbase of followers going, as you can tell by the efforts taken by the fansite http://palms.svfan.com . Loosing Hidden Palms would just let many of us Teen Drama fans looking again for another show to fill it. I think after this season, many of us telling our friends and if they had more advertising this show could be the next, better, greater O.C. (If I do recall not many viewers watched season 1 O.C. But in it's middle seasons it was HUGE..) I think that Hidden Palms is amazing, personally my favortie new show right now, and if it does end up cancelled then I would be very upset, as would MANY MANY of it's fans.

The CW got out what it put in to Hidden Palms. The network could not have expected better ratings or more viewership based on the amount of time and money (or lack thereof) it put into the show.

Although Hidden Palms was originally scheduled to be a midseason starter, the network kept delaying its premiere, putting it off until the dreariest viewing time of the tv season: summer.

Along with this unintelligent move to bury Hidden Palms out of sight and out of mind, the CW failed to successfully and persuasively advertise the show. Not one of the previews explained the setting, characters, or plotlines, and certainly did not display the suspense and intrigue with which writer Kevin Williamson riddled the show.

As many of my fellow fans have alluded to, the CW spent more advertising time and money on shows that were already hits or were not set to premiere until the fall. I have seen more ads for Gossip Girl than any other show, along with other future newcomers like the Monday-night comedy Reaper. I hope the CW knows that a Monday comedy schedule is not going to bring in many viewers. Thursday is comedy night. Always has and always will be, despite the CW's gallant efforts to avoid competition with other, more spectacular comedy line-ups like NBC's thursday-night show of The Office and My Name is Earl.

Returning shows such as One Tree Hill and ending shows such as Gilmore Girls have received far more attention by the CW than Hidden Palms as well. Dedicating more advertising to a show that already has a fairly solid fanbase like One Tree Hill is a waste of airtime. Few viewers opt to start watching a show four seasons in, especially if an enticing show like Hidden Palms is beginning during the summer. But few viewers ever knew of the existence of Hidden Palms. The same scenario applies to 7th Heaven and Gilmore Girls, both with series finales this year. Viewers do not tune in for the last episode of a series if they have not been consistently or attentively watching throughout the course of the show. I am not razzing on these other shows, no, for I myself am an avid fan of the regulars and am certain Gossip Girl will have its own merit. Yet the CW should have paid more to Hidden Palms as a plausible hit teen drama, putting in a better effort to promote the show. Writing it off as a failure before the season even started was a poor move by the network and a disappointment to those fans who have happened to catch a glimpse of this worthy show in its minute and neglected existence.

i cant believe its over... it left me unclear.... why would it end so0 damn fast(a few episodes!! then the finale..on top of that series finale!!??)... i wouldve liked to know how cliff and nikki ended up thru time... what happened with skip, johnny and gretta... and so many other things that could have still been going on!.... i never missed an episode and would leave work early every wednesday just to0 see this show... i never watch any series shows but this one really caught my eye... i loved it!... i kant believe it.. i hope that it comes back for me and all the other fans!!...

I admit that I was an OC addict . When that ended I was crushed , so , when Hidden Palms came on, I was overwhelmed. I've always hated One Tree Hill, and thought that it should have been canceled way before the OC . But it didn't , so I was disappointed. Hidden Palms was kind of like a bounce back for me, it was exciting, suspenseful and very, very well written . I thought that this show could replace my addiction to the OC. And it did, for a very short time .

I'm not sure who to blame , I blame the CW for being so stabber about this, first of all . Second, I blame the time of year it came on, who watched TV in the summer !? Seriously , the show is amazing , it would have been a huge hit , if it was put on in the fall when people are actually watching TV, after a long day at school , or work . It's nice to watch your favorite show .

The ratings were bad because of the time of year , and I admit , the promotion itself was fairly poor . Don't take favorites when it come to promotion , if the show is on it's 4th season , and it's already half way through , how many people do you really think are going to watch the show ? About as many as have been watching it before . You don't tune in after half the season , it's absurd .

Did you even look at the word promotion . Such as .. before the motion . Hmm, if I was interested in finding a show to watch, I would watch for commercials, on TV , and if there is no commercial, I'm not going to watch the show ! This is all logic , and it pains me to say I’m appalled at the immaturity of this station . Never thought I’d say that , but I have and I’ll say much more if I have to .

I'm 15 I have an extremely large opinion, larger than many of you can grasp, I’m sure. Let this show stay, or risk losing them as viewers for the rest of your shows , it's your choice . Make a good one .

i think it was a great show. i think you guys did great. i wouldnt have cared what the title was. im just mad there isnt another season i think you should work on making anothere season. i know its gnna be worth it.perhaps you could've promoted it more. but i loved those comercials you guys made, they were creepy and fun. What I don't understand is how the CW expects Hidden Palms to do well when there promoting is so low. I have been waiting to see this show since smallvilles last season ended.

What better ways to promote the CW?

1. Take some time into advertising. It would be wonderful to see the CW work on some trailers to get people hyped up about Hidden Palms. Hidden Palms is that awesome show that would be a monster hit if people really knew about it. Maybe try and post commercials for Hidden Palms at the end or beginning or commercial breaks of other hit shows. That's a great way to get people going!

2. Look at palms.svfan.com. The website is phenomonal! The devotion to Hidden Palms is massive. Look away from the fact it doesn't have a heck of a lot of people - think, that could be because of the CW...
Just taking the time to look at their site, and promote, look, promote, look, promote...

3. Give Kevin Williamson and the rest of the crew a chance. A second season would be the bomb! Imagine Hidden Palms in high school. Just think of what could come to Hidden Palms later on!

4. If all else fails, and somehow no second season comes, then please, PLEASE, create a DVD of Hidden Palms. So many people would buy it and you'd be giving yourself a profit.

Consider the show. It's called Hidden Palms. Created by Kevin Williamson. It's got one heck of a lot of potential but isn't being given the chance to do so.

Hidden Palms is my favorite show please don't take it away. All my friends watch it too. It is the only good show that is on in the summer.

Such an amazing show that was practically thrown under a bus. Bad promotion, delaying the start, putting it on in summer, 2 episodes a week to make the end come nearer, finale of the entire thing after 8 episodes on FOURTH OF JULY. If the show didn't do as well as was hoped, it's all because of the network. It's a shame.. RIP hidden palms

The only reason i found out about this show, had been through a couple of my friends who religiously watch the cw (otherwise i would have never found out). I fell in love with the first episode and knew it would be a great series to watch all summer. When i found out that the season finale was a single episode away, let alone the series finale, i was extremely disappointed and knew there must be a mistake. I don't think it was ever given a chance and it would probably have done 10 times better with a little more promotion on other channels. I wish i knew whether or not all these petitions and responses could make a difference, but this is probably the end...
I feel that once a network has ultimately decided on a series finale for a show, it's generally unchangeable, but hopefully for future shows they'll take into consideration more publicity because it clearly seems to be an issue.

Well first of all I really think they should have aired the show in the fall and NOT in the summer.In the summer people go and hang out with friends and go on vacation.. not sit at home and watch t.v. Secondly I have to say that the promotion for this show was extremely crappy ..I didn't watch the first couple episodes because I didn't even know that this show existed. I must say I am very disappointed that Hidden Palms is ending.Not only the season but the WHOLE series. I really love this show and I dont understand why it is coming to an end.. I mean the marketing was horrible I found out about this show on the fourth episode because of how bad the marketing is. And I have missed and episode because it's in the summer. This is a horrible slot for such an amazing show it has way more potential and I know that for a fact. During the summer people are busy, they have things to do and places to go. Also many people are on vacation so that makes it hard and I don't think you're going to want to sit inside watching a show while on vacation... I know i wouldn't want to. So please just have some better marketing and change the slot and I am sure you will have way more viewers than any of your other shows.

Ok I think this show had really shitty and I mean REALLY shitty marketing. I feel let down by the lack of marketing for Hidden Palms. I think that CW has room for vast improvement when it comes to cross-channel marketing. I have watched two shows in the past: America’s Next Top Model and The Search for the next pussy cat doll...both had pretty good advertising. ANT has been around for a while now, so it sort of markets itself. The CW can market their shows on their channel all day long, but if a viewer is not watching their channel to begin with; well then what good is that? I only watched Hidden Palms originally because someone told me that someone from our city was on there. It is in extreme poor taste to run the finally on the fourth of July; that just shows their lack of commitment to the shows success!

There was a bit of over-acting in the first episode, but I feel they have really stepped their game up and it has improved.

I am a really big fan of Hidden Palms. I don't want the show to end. I like the suspense because it leaves me wanting to see more. I count the days until I get to Wednesday because I can't wait to see what happends next on Hidden Palms. So please don't cancel hidden palms because I love it and I know a lot of people out there love this tv show too.

Hidden Palms is the only show that is really a good show, in my opinion. I think that the marketting is the cause for the "low" ratings. I would be greately dissappointed if Hidden Palms would get cancelled.

The CW, in my opinion, has lacked the ability to promote their shows from the second the WB and UPN merged together. If the CW really knew how good of a show Hidden Palms is then maybe they would of done it differently, we will never know. What is becoming apparent is that the CW is trying to push Gossip Girl and Reaper on their new fall lineup but I for one WILL NOT TUNE IN IF HIDDEN PALMS DOES GET CANCELLED.

Hidden Palms should of been on in the fall, this summer slot just sucks for the show not to mention the con that was cooked up by the CW to get this show over and done with. The CW needs to keep this show because it will be a hit soon.

Okay it's the summer and a lot of shows i have watched over the years have mostly come to an end so i have been looking for new shows to get into and on the CW that was definately Hidden Palms. It just hooked me in from the first episode and searching the net i find nothing but people with good things to say about it. I think it has great potental and would be a great series. I know me and people i would know would tune in every week for sure. So I say SAVE Hidden Palms. Bring it back for season 2 do some good promotion and just watch the following start in a big way.

You picked the worst time for tv to air it. May and June people are just starting to end school or go on vacations. In the fall it would be a lot more popular. This is my favorite show, it is very addicting.

I just started to feel happy that there was another good show like my favourite-"Veronica Mars", and all of a sudden i read that the CW are going to cancel it. What's up with that. For the first time in my life am i seing something this stupid being done-a show which started only a month ago is already gone. That's weak. To be honest, The CW doesn't do well when it comes to their promotion. Maybe for America's Next Top Model and The Pussycat Dolls show. Those are their only two possible good, rating shows they have on The CW. It goes to prove that The CW fails when it comes to promotion for sure!

But what I also think Hidden Palms is struggling is because of summer, of course! Everyone's busy when it comes to summer, so it's such a bad idea to air a show during the summer, I mean who the heck would watch it? Of course I will, but it's ridiculous! And what also proves my point is the series finale ending on July 4th! Who would watch an episode during that timing? And everyone knows everyone will be tuning in the fireworks instead of the series finale of Hidden Palms. The definetly, without a doubt, should've aired the episode during the fall. It's not our fault, it's The CW's fault, etc. with the network.

I have never missed an episode of Hidden Palms. What captured my attention was the fact that each character had different layers and in each episode you would see a whole new side of them. The plot is also very good. It's suspenseful and leaves the viewers wanting more (at least that was for me). It probably would have done much better in the Fall season, and if it were promoted longer. I think i heard about it a week or so before it started on the CW.

I think this show would of done a lot better if they showed it in the fall. Because not very many teens and adults watch television during the summer and I think it was very dumb to show it during the summer. My only salvation from the devastating loss of Veronica Mars was the inception of Hidden Palms. Well written and acted, this is actually a teen drama for us mystery lovers to sink our teeth into. Why on earth would they take away such a good show? it finally got really good, and things were looking up. I expected it last more than just a few episodes! This is seriously not fair.

I completely agree with Kevin Williamson - I love this show and it has so much potential. I feel for him because he is a genius and was not at all given a chance. My friends don't even know this show exists; I know about it because I go on the CW website to read OTH stuff and I saw it on there once. I love OTH & HP but The CW is the worst network ever.

I think that the CW did a terrible job promoting this show and maybe if it got more commercials or ads then we would have attracted more viewers. I think that it should be given a second chance and given a secon season to grow into an even more AMAZING show! This isnt like any other show on T.V today which makes it scary to some people becuase they dont want to stray away from normal. I didn't really know about Hidden Palms up until I saw the first episode on MTV. I don't think I even remember seeing advertisements for it. Maybe there were but I didn't notice them. Sorry. Why would you get us hooked on HP on rip the rug out from under us? The story is just getting started and you want to end it! You will lose many loyal CW fans if you pull the plug! You did away with Gilmore Girls and now you are taking HP away, what next 7th heaven, oh wait you took that away already!!!!! I started watching Hidden Palms from the first episode, but only because I stumbled upon it. I saw a preview just before it aired, and was instantly hooked. I wish the network would have upped its promos much sooner, like it is doing for the new fall season. The CW is already airing promos for "Gossip Girl" left and right, and that doesn't come out for more than a month or so.

What if the network played a mini-marathon one night? And then continued the next season during the fall line-up, say following "Gossip Girls". Both relate to a teen audience, interested in drama.

Please rethink the decision of canceling "Hidden Palms". Even if it is taken this off the network, its substitute will only be a rerun of another series, whose ratings can't be any better. Give it a full season's chance, and I have faith that the show will take off with proper marketing.

I am too upset to say all thats on my mind, but I think this show needs another chance. I mean, for being on during the summer in the same time slot as some pretty popular shows such as "So you think you can dance", i think it has proved itself pretty well. Okay, I've been a huge fan of Hidden Palms since day one. I watched the first episode, I fell in love. Second, third..then I come to tonight's episode to see an advertisement for the SERIES Finale? NEXT WEEK?!?!

What the hell?!?

I'm the type of person who's pretty picky about shows that I like, but if there's one thing I'm good at it's picking a good show to watch. I never found out about Hidden Palms until the day of the airing of the Pilot episode. I had no idea it existed, and basically almost no one that I know knew it existed. I posted bulletins about it constantly on myspace, would tell everyone I could get a word to about it (and I mean this literally) and some people actually would watch it. And guess what? THEY LIKED IT! Yeah, they did, but the terrible part is that those I couldn't get to still didn't know that it existed. I have yet to see an advertisement for Hidden Palms ANYWHERE, EVER! Shouldn't that be a problem considering that fact that it's brand new and needs advertise?

Another issue I have is the trailers that did air.

Since when do trailers spoil the suspense of the next week's show?
Trailers are supposed to get you to watch, not get you to think, "Oh man. I wish I didn't see that. Now I know what happens!"

Point being, the quantity and quality of the adverisement that was given was lousy. The fact that it's being canceled after only this many episodes is crap.

It's pretty sad that a show with so much potential was never even given a realistic chance.

I mean, put up some billboards, some online adds, some comercials and wah-lah! People will start watching it and love it just as I do. I just wanted to say that I LOOOVVVEEE Hidden Palms and will be extremely disappointed to see this show cancel in a time where it is needed. I love the diverse group of characters, dialogue between characters, the back stories, plot, vibrant location and so much more. This show has the makings to become the next BIG Teen drama. I fell in love with this show from the beginning and watch it every Wednesday. I do agree that the show did not receive the publicity it deserved. The commercials that were shown before the series premiered was total crap. I thought it was some type of ad or another Supernatural show "this is the place where people come to die" (yes I remember). And I only tuned in to it after the season finale of OTH AND I AM SOOOOO HAPPY I DID!!! If you would have advertised it normally telling parts of the story in commercials or even publicity in Teen People or Teen Vogue where teens like me look for upcoming shows to premiere and become their new night time line up. And to see pictures of a hot and sexy cast (if teenage girls knew that Michael Cassidy aka cutie comic book lover Zach from the OC who was once the love of Summer plays the bad ass CLIFF of Hidden Palms they would die. I know I did) Who knows if the show would have done better if it was premiered in the fall which is the prime time for new shows and it really does not matter to me I LOOVE HIDDEN PALMS I would pretty much hate the CW for the rest of my life if it was canceled. SOOOO PLEASE KEEP THIS SHOW,watch it grow and become the next One Tree Hill or Gilmore Girls who have seasons and seasons of shows. But I think this is a fantastic show and want to see it for seasons and seasons to come.

You made my point. HP is a program with ratings far below a program that CBS originally cancelled so why would CBS even consider to air it? They can get higher ratings with repeats of 2.5men. I understand when viewers like a program sooo much that they want to go to all lenghts to save it.

For instance, I have no idea if you're male or female, your race, religion...etc. Does it matter? no. Sometimes the truth is hard to accept when you like a program. It's no reason to lash out at someone who puts the truth out there.

Everyone has to play the blame game. Who's fault is it that HP is not catching on? The CW? Summertime? The pilot episode? The bad reviews by trusted/far reaching sources?

I have really taken a liking to Hidden Palms and it has become a weekly fix in my tv schedule. However, that didn't happen until the third episode.

I sure hope the higher-ups at The CW read these comments. I'd love to have their Marketing/PR person say with a straight face that they did all they could to make Hidden Palms a success.

This should have been a fall premiere, with all the hoopla, mass marketing, talk-of-the-town promotion possible. Why? Because A) it's a new network, B) it's a Kevin Williamson show, and C) it's a riveting we-will-hook-you-in show, set in a glamorous place that's rarely been used as a setting for a show before!

I had been looking forward to this program (aka the more appealling "Palm Springs" -- what was the CW smoking?) ever since I read of it being picked up...and wouldn't have EVEN known it was finally going to air until I stumbled upon a brief promo while switching channels on TV. HUH?! WHAT promotion??!

After that moment, the few promo ads I DID see did absolutely NOTHING for me. Nothing. They were dark and non-sensical, and not exactly something that would entice people to sit inside on a summer night and watch a brand new serial drama. Who in their right mind would have ok'd those promos at The CW? They were AWFUL.

I feel like the CW doesn't WANT us to watch the show...but why? What the heck is wrong with the program that I am missing? Personally, I LOVE the show. The title sucks, as mentioned numerous times, but my God does this show have promise!!

I place full responsibility on the CW for Hidden Palms' middling performance...and it's a real shame. The show is stylish, brooding, and fills the void left by OTH, The OC, and others that won't be back. Yet CW has buried it in the summer, and of course the ratings will be minimal.

A couple things of note:
1. The title. It's awful! When the show was picked up - way back when - it was announced as "Palm Springs". LOVE that title, and all that those two words captures in its romantic,secretive, scandalous, and playful history. What the heck does Hidden Palms mean??! That does nothing to identify the show.

2. It's like the kiss of death to announce a show for a network's lineup then delay the thing anyway, but in the interim, the CW swept the show under the rug. No mention of "Coming Soon", no firm midseason timeslot, nothing...Then, it's tossed to the wolves, and furthermore, doubles up the episodes to get the show over with as quickly as they can, apparently. A few posters in a bust stop does not cut it in promoting a show, CW.

Here's an appealling cast, both in the teenagers and parents...an allure of a golden beauty of an oasis setting, a great script, but with a network that sure seems to despise everything about the show. WHY??!

There is SO much potential here!! Kevin Williamson is GOLD. Love how Gail and Sharon chew up the scenery, and the whole deal has me hooked and spreading the word.

CW needs to commit to a show of this nature, and let it grow. Nurture it, promote it, obligate yourself to its - and your - success!

To begin with, the show takes place in Palm Springs. This is a great resort destination with a romantic Hollywood past.

The name of the Show, Hidden Palms, should have included Palm Springs. This would have added to the audience.

A show premiering in the summer is difficult. The CW Network is not extremely well watched. The Show should have been given at least a 13 week trial. Not 8 episodes squeezed into 4 or 5 weeks. This is not enough time for a new show to develop a following.

What made the Pilot for HP so enticing was the fact that it was actually filmed in the Palm Springs area. To pull it out of the area, and into a set in Arizona took away any of the "feel and flavor" of Palm Springs. In my opinion, Palm Springs is as important to HP as any of the characters. It should have been an on location show, not filmed in a sound stage in another state.

1) HP was all over the internet. I came across many HP reviews and wasn't even looking for them.

2) Digital Cable has available descriptions of each program on tv.

3) HP is being aired against cheesy summer reality programs and repeats of scripted programs.

4) The CW did not promote this any less than the rest of their programs.

5) CW even began airing HP 2 days a week

Come on...

The problem is not promotion: The problem is getting people (who do not currently watch a program on the CW) to tune in at all. (A poster promo with 2 half naked teens is not going to change that.)

Also, the CW had been promoting HP to their current viewers beginning months before airing the pilot. The low ratings show that the large majority of their audience is not interested in this program. Something else that probably made people decide not to watch: The CW pushed back the premier date to summer, which can lead someone to believe that the CW didn't have high hopes to begin with. Honestly, can you blame them? I, for one, cannot believe they even picked up this program from what was piloted. Seems as if they picked it up just fill in some air space.

Bacio: CBS would never re-air a pilot that couldn't even reach 2mil in viewership. Be realistic. Look what it took for viewers to get Jericho renewed - a program that had 8 mil viewers.

I watch nothing on The CW except the best show that has ever happen to you and former WB and that is "One Tree Hill".You were smart by giving OTH its fifth season and hopefully more. However, you bought "Hidden Palms” and released it in the summer when this should have been released way before when pussycat dolls came on, Wednesday should have led a full night of teen drama with hidden palms and OTH, that the way to make the ratings. Hidden Palms can make it by promoting it more as well, the only reason i even knew that this show was even going to be on air was the fact there was a promo before a segment in OTH, so The CW should give a full season to HP and not just a short summer trip.

The CW definitely did a terrible job of advertising for Hidden Palms. The only reason I found out about the show is because my sister was a big Dawson's Creek fan and she found out that the creator was coming out with a new show.

There were no good promos for it. I have seen a promo, a long one too, for Gossip Girls a million times and the only promo for HP I ever saw was the one with Greta breaking down on the golf course which was very reminiscent of The OC when Marissa over dosed in Mexico. After seeing the show I had no idea why they used that clip for HP it really didn't suite the show at all, that promo made it look like it was going to be like The OC and its not at all.

I totally agree with Kevin Williamson, that the show is getting the ratings for what they advertised. I think it would have done better with a fall premiere or even a mid-season one. Summer shows usually have less viewers and with very poor advertising what could you expect. The show has the mystery and drama, and with the wittiness and sarcasm of the characters it brings in some comedy. I think the show could be a big hit with the proper advertising. Hidden Palms deserves a second season with better advertising!!

The promos didn't help.

Currently, the Hidden Palms myspace page has approx. 921 friends. (www.myspace.com/hidden_palms) Utilize this. WOM (word of mouth) has a lasting impact. Advertise on MySpace - ANYWHERE - the log-in screen, etc. Send out reminder bulletins embedding the preview for the upcoming show. It's easy for ppl to fwd those on.

Make the website a bit more user friendly. Archive the previous shows. There's nothing like a friend telling you about an amazing show only for you to watch it and be so incredibly lost that you never watch it again. If you post the previous shows you can catch up on what you missed or rewatch something someone else caught. Any maybe you already have this, but if you do it's not easily accessible. Even by saying at the end of the show, "Go to www.myspace.com/hidden_palms to catch up on any missed moments and to catch a preview for next week's show." Previews are usually so quick that people want to see them again. Also, you can track the foot traffic to the site to document interest.

This stuff doesn't cost much money if any. Maybe you should think about hiring some young people to help you out with this whole marketing aspect of things.

Excuse me, but I see hidden palms commercials every time I put on the CW or WGN programming, the station that airs it in chicago.

The CW was promoting HP well before the season finales of their regular season programs.

The Chicago Tribune's Free RedEye newspaper targeted to the 18-30 yr olds had a positive article on the premier.

TV Guide had a printed article about HP for the premiern (which probably hurt the the show because Mr. Roush gave it a bad review.)

No offense, Kevin Williamson's work on this is mediocre at best. It's predicable and not original. This is just another sex drama.

The Pilot was awful with horrible acting.

Lastly, the CW is hurting itself by angering it's current viewers.

Where to begin? First, I'll start off w/echoing the comments about the 08nova ads. They were sloppy and likely did more damage than help. What's the point of a promo if you never mention the show?
Second, the CW finally made some decent promos but mostly abstained from showing them until all other shows had ended: when nobody was watching. I have mentioned HP to several ppl, yet no one knows what I'm talking about. What a sad testament to the CW's marketing!

I could go on, but you get the idea.

I think that Hidden Palms is an amazing show. It has become my favorite show. I think the CW could have done ALOT more to promote it. ALSO i think that it would have done much much better as a fall premiere because as it premiered now it is a very strange time for a new show to be on. I would not have known about it if my friend hadnt sent me a link talking about it (not by the CW). Hidden Palms had the potential to be a great show, but because the CW is dumb and doesnt know how to advertise their shows it has no chance.

Yes, I'd say so. I found out about the show through a very, VERY obscure web site. Had I not discovered it that way, nothing the CW did to promote it would have been seen by me.

As a matter of fact, the only CW promos I've seen for Hidden Palms, I downloaded from various web sites on the show.

i think hidden palms could do very well it deffiantly has the potential and decent actors in it one thing that would boost the ratings alot is comedy since gilmore girls has gone hidden palms could be that next comedy/drama show plus the mystery which so many people like and they will stop comparing it to the oc

I remember when One Tree Hill was just starting out there was posters promoting it all over my mall. I believe if this was done more people would have found out about Hidden Palms sooner.

Palms def. could have been marketed better in alot of ways. CBS could have taking a Saturday night off from repeatville to show the pilot after it premiered. Also, MTV, CBS and other CW affiliates could have promoted Hidden Palms, with trailers that weren't so odd.

The 30sec 08Nova adds doesn't match the feel of Hidden Palms, nor do they do anything for the show. It also isn't so much where and how but how much and how often. Also a 9pm slot would do wonders for the show.

Hi,I'm a 15 year old teenager, who is a total fan of this new teenage soap! I totally agree on this promotion thingie...I've been the one telling my friends and family OMG you guys have to totally watch this new show...it's amazing and they thought the same and now there going crazy for it and are addicts just like me to hidden palms... so please just don't take out the next seasons...probably if you guys would of promoted it better on season fanales and other important events people would of watched it even more...what PaleBlueDot said is really true...I don't care if you post this...I just want you guys to get the message that many people will be disapointed if this show stops!!!!

I believe that you should have posted a lot more commercials on more stations. for example, through ABC family or something like that.

To get people into it as of now, just run a marathon.

Also, I believe that you should bring it back for a second season.

I work in the marketing dept. at Court TV and know how hard it is to promote or market a show. I'm 18, so I enjoy these types of shows ( guessing I'm within you're target audience). I personally believe it should have been premiered in the fall, when I'm actually home and cant wait for a good show to come to on to take me away from my hw. The summer is tough, because well, we are on the beach and dont really need to watch people laying on the beach on TV.
I like the show and hope it stays for another season, but hopefully in September.

I never watched the O.C. I wasnt really that interested, even though I felt like the only person who didnt watch it. But one day I came onto the CW site to watch an episode of Supernatural and chose to watch an episode of Hidden Palms. The first episode intrigued me... so I watched all the rest in a matter of 2 days. I really want to find out what happened to Eddie... I like where the story is going. Yeah, it has the cliche teen drinking problems and rich white dysfunctional families... but I actually got hooked. My friends and I like it(we are 17 - 18). I think the show should continue... just as long as it stays away from the who- slept with who and stays with the who - killed- who.

I knew about Hidden Palms because I read a lot of entertainment news online.

I think the CW failed in promoting it because the only promos I remember seeing for it before the premiere were a few short, static filled teasers that told nothing about the show.

I've seen more promotional spots for next fall's Gossip Girl and reruns of Supernatural than for HP.

It gives me the impression that the CW wasn't behind the show from the beginning.

I definately think you should have air the show next fall ! I am not American but I've heard that they were in vacation since the beginning of june ! And even if they are well-known as the biggest TV viewers, maybe they take a break during summer lol

It was promoted so poorly. Many friends of mine watch the CW a lot yet have never even seen a Hidden Palms add or commercial. The very few commercials the CW has shown are quite short and do not show highlights of the show or what this great show is truely about. Hidden Palms deserves a second chance with the same promotion that the fall line-up is getting.

I think in general the CW could've done a better job promoting a lot of its shows. There are promos for the hits (Smallville, Supernatural, PCD Search) every night, but shows like Veronica Mars only got promoted heavily on Sundays or during Gilmore Girls. The quality of the Hidden Palms promos were also low, the show is basically teen Twin Peaks and is really kind of growing and finding its own, but the promos aired make it look like another OC knock off. The CW promos tend to go this route, making me think it's actually a strategy to make everything look like the new OC. I worry for Gossip Girl being plugged so much with its OC connections. Hello, that show was just cancelled.

You should put it after OTH and please put it in the fall, if you (hopefully) renew it for a second season. I think 1.82 million with low promotion and even in the summer, when everybody is on cacation is pretty good

The Competition with Dancing with the Stars isn't good as well for the series.

The CW network hasn't given Hidden Palms a fair chance. They are way too impatient and expect every show to come out a mega hit, if not it gets cancelled. Shows need time to grow and build a fan base. The way The CW network has handled Hidden Palms, it has never been given an opportunity to even be a mega hit. No lead-in to launch the show, constant delaying of the premiere, scheduled during the awkward off-season, no marketing strategy and hardly any promotion. Obviously The CW execs have a "Hidden Agenda" that would require the show to debut unceremoniously and to the point where no one is aware that the show exists. The CW network hasn't given any sort of assistance to Hidden Palms; the only promotion the show is getting is from the fans. The CW should step it up. If Hidden Palms gets cancelled, after only 8 episodes, I won't forgive The CW. It would be good quality TV being poured down the toilet for brainless trash that you call the Pussycat Dolls (which ironically, gets a ton of promotion).

I feel that Hidden Palms was not promoted enough to get a lot of viewers. Its good to have a summer show though i think its also harder to get people to notice it. I think that the CW should keep Hidden Palms going but instead put it into the fall before One Tree Hill. The show would have done alot better if it permeried after One Tree Hill because people wouldnt have anything to watch on Wendsdays and maybe would have tuned in more. Also being shown in the fall would have been better because during the summer people are on vacation and tend not to watch as much TV.

Williamson is right--the show was barely marketed. The response I always get when I mention it to friends is something along the lines of "Hidden Palms? What's that? I've never heard of it..."

It's really rather ridiculous. The CW is relying on word of mouth from the very few that have caught the show, and that's just not how shows get popular. It needs to be advertised constantly.

Airing it after One Tree Hill would have been a great choice. Both shows have some of the same elements, so it's likely that the OTH fans would have kept watching.

To cancel the show after only 8 episodes is pathetic. That's not even giving it a chance. They've sabatoged the show from the beginning by not giving it the marketing it deserves, and now they're going to cut it.

In my humble opinion, the CW is quickly going downhill. They need to get their act together ASAP.

What I don't understand is how the CW expects Hidden Palms to do well when there promoting is crazy low. I honestly have not seen any Hidden Palms commercials - yet I watch the CW whenever I can.

What better ways to promote the CW?

1. Take some time into advertising. It would be wonderful to see the CW work on some trailers to get people hyped up about Hidden Palms. Hidden Palms is that awesome show that would be a monster hit if people really knew about it. Maybe try and post commercials for Hidden Palms at the end or beginning or commercial breaks of other hit shows. That's a great way to get people going!

2. Look at palms.svfan.com. The website is phenomonal! The devotion to Hidden Palms is massive. Look away from the fact it doesn't have a heck of a lot of people - think, that could be because of the CW...
Just taking the time to look at their site, and promote, look, promote, look, promote...

3. Give Kevin Williamson and the rest of the crew a chance. A second season would be the bomb! Imagine Hidden Palms in high school. Just think of what could come to Hidden Palms later on!

4. If all else fails, and somehow no second season comes, then please, PLEASE, create a DVD of Hidden Palms. So many people would buy it and you'd be giving yourself a profit.

The tv advertisement in Canada did not capture the essence of the show (Hidden Palms). It was even less interesting then those shown on CW network.

i absolutely agree that hidden palms didn't get enough publicity and the marketing techniques were terrible. it's one of the best shows i've ever seen and i'm addicted to it, and many others could be. the only reason i watch the show is because at 8:45 i turned on the tv to watch a 9o'clock episode of one tree hill and i watched the last 15 minutes of the hidden palms pilot. i've now seen every episode. it's soo good. and if the oc started off with the type of marketing hidden palms got, it wouldn't be nearly as popular. hidden palms has amazing potential and is such a great show, all it needs is more marketing to be a complete hit, the way it already is in my house and some friends' houses. put up billboards, run reruns, commercials commercials commercials, and i suggest you put amber heard and taylor handley on tv interview shows. PUBLICITY, ADVERTISING...market it. everything about this show is fantastic, now all that's needed is for millions more to realize it.

I whole-heartedly agree that Hidden Palms should have been promoted more. I have been anticipating this series since last summer and it is very disappointing to see how the show (including it’s fans) has been treated by The CW network. First off it kept getting delayed to the point where it’s in the off-season where no one watches TV (especially The CW). The advertisement was really lacking. The mass of the promotion was aired after all of the other CW shows were off the air for the season. No wonder why the ratings for Hidden Palms are in the 1 millions, it’s because the only people aware of the show are the 1 million people who watch reruns of The CW’s shows. Plus, there was no lead-in show to help launch Hidden Palms. It’s not right The CW has given no aide to the show and only the fans are the ones promoting...

The CW should have put this show before a really popular show, that way if people tune in a little early, catch a minute of the show tey will be hooked.

Hidden Palms is what TV has been missing. It appeals to all ages and helps fill the void of many shows that have been cancelled that did not desrve too.The funny thing about Hidden Palms is that the only way I knew it existed was by checking an The OC website where it posted that two OC alum where starring in a new show on the CW. It's a sad day when a network doesn't invest in a show that they decided to pick-up. It has a incrediable following (just check out myspace Groups), and several fan based websites to help save the show. Just advertise the right wasy and your triple or more those numbers. The CW has a hit in the palm of their hands and are letting it slip away.

A few weeks during the summer is surely not indicative of the success of Hidden Palms. Williamson has had great popularity with previous efforts. This show is battling for ratings when much of the population is on vacation. Try advertising on MTV or even MYSPACE, reach out to everyone, not just the young crowd. Much of us are looking for a replacement for Veronica Mars or the O.C., this is not only a great drama but a well written show. I am getting to the point, if reality shoes are the only successful programs, I will just shut my tv off all together.I know the CW needs better ratings, how about giving a great show a chance.

Hidden Palms, as the song by BM LINX used in one of the promotional trailers is a "...tragic love story." However the promotional campaign The CW put forth for this Kevin Williamson masterpiece is the biggest tragedy of all. One could say the fans of the show have put forth more effort in the shows promotion than the network itself.

The CW failed on many fronts. For starters the initial campaign to promote this show started much too late. During the season finales for the big fall shows, Hidden Palms was virtually ignored. I recorded every prime time spot from April and I hardly heard a peep out of The CW about a new network show. The ads they were running (the 08Nova ads) were cryptic, unintelligible, and as brief as can be. They had no story-line and even if you could catch the second-long flash of a website URL, you were sent to a site that was even more cryptic. Notice, The CW hasn't updated this site lately.

The first real commercials didn't really start showing up in mass until after the fall show finales...a period when making people aware that there would be something new and exciting to watch this Summer would have made an impact. There are tons of fans of Smallville, Supernatural, and until recent, Veronica Mars who only watch The CW (or previously UPN/WB) in the fall season and never check back until the next season starts. They totally missed the boat.

Once they were done promoting their fall season finales and viewership tanked; only then did The CW really start promoting. And they did do so in force, but with less than a Month until air date, it was a failed attempt at best. Five different trailers aired and you could hardly watch a network show without seeing a spot for Hidden Palms. Too bad no one was watching anymore.

To make things worse, YahooTV released the pilot AND the second episode online. Not just short clips or an abbreviated summary, but the whole show! With only 8 episodes in the can 1/4 of the season had already watched by the biggest fans. The original un-cut Pilot had been floating around the Internet since January and was in high distribution. Keeping the final cut offline and a surprise for the Series Premiere would have been the smart choice. If they wanted to generate online buzz, the underground file traders were already doing that for them. The CW simply added to the lack of anticipation for the premiere date.

After the Pilot, and the low ratings were known, The CW did little to try and rectify the situation. Commercial advertisement went from 5 unique trailers to one fairly stinted one. It aired about half as often and was more of a spoiler than a teaser. From this day forward, we would only get one trailer cut and the frequency would dwindle. You will see more promos for shows airing three months away than you do for a show airing next Wednesday! Where was this hype engine before Hidden Palms aired?

After the Full Night event airing What Liza Beneath and Mulligan, I've seen only two airings of the Trailer as of Saturday. Mr. Williamson has every right to be upset. These two episodes are some of the best dramatic writing I've seen played out of The CW since its inception last fall. It has all the makings of mega hit. But even the best shows will fail in the ratings if no one even knows it is on.

I work with the public in my every day life and I speak to thousands of people daily. I have yet to actually find another person, besides online, who has even heard of Hidden Palms. How could this be? Only one answer comes to mind. The CW failed Hidden Palms and its fans. For a new network trying to play with the Big Boys, it has a lot to learn.

I run the Hidden Palms Fansite. I got an email a few weeks back from a fan who told me myself and my administrative partner do a better job at promoting this show than The CW. I'd love to take that as a compliment. However, I feel I can only see it as a massive letdown by The CW.

i think that there is very little promotion, there is just as much promotion for repeats of shows like smallville if not more than what the new episodes of Hidden Palms is receiving.

The Cw and the Upn were never netwrks big on advertizing. I never knew there was a second season of Veronica Mars I thought it had been canceled after two shows cause I never heard a word about it. And wb shows like charmed were never advertised if you were lucky you seen a small trailor for the next eppi one in a six hour block of watching the shows. even ones that were related to the topic. Maybe hidden palms should be happy they even got a commercial advertising the show. Cause I really should have to ask the question is the show based in a rehab center or something cause I have an incling but the nothing explained that before hand and I'm not going to watch the show.

You know what, HP fans? CW doesn't promote a lot of shows that could do better in the ratings. like Supernatural. You know how CW promotes SN? Someone else complaining about not getting a fair shake in marketing. In which I have to agree because I didnt know a damn thing about this show until I saw posts in this blog. Other than that... I really didnt see or hear about this show at all.

This network seems to really be screwing itself over.

I posted that article to the SPN board and we lamented with and for them. As you here on the blog have heard more than once, we, too, suffer from undermarketing.

Williamson speaks the truth. It's 110% true. The CW shouldn't have expected Hidden Palms to do well when it was almost exclusively advertised during other CW shows. Especially since this is the CW, and the crossover audience between their different shows is very poor to begin with.

For example, Smallville and Supernatural are paired together, but Smallville's ratings only rarely have any impact on Supernatural's. When Smallville began to tank towards the end of the season, Supernatural's ratings remained fairly steady. That's on the same night, let alone imagining the CW's Tuesday audience tunes in on Thursdays, or vis versa.

The CW remains seemingly oblivious to the fact no one will tune into its shows when nobody knows when they or airing or that they even exist. Maybe their invisible "advertisement strategy" involves a coven of psychics sitting in a circle on the top floor of their office building, meditating on attracting new viewers to their network.

Well, the CW Network? Let me let you in on something: It's not working.

I wanted to comment on the death of Mr McMahon. I have watched the videos, and can't help but wonder if the whole thing is staged. First of all, why would he be filmed walking out to his car, but not be filmed getting into the car? Also, when the car blew up, the cameras caught that, too, but not Mr. McMahon getting into the limousine. When the car was burning, there was no sign of anyone being in the limousine. I'm sure the shape of someone's body would have been seen inside the vehicle. BUT, if he really was killed, I would be looking Edge. He was not too happy with what Mr. McMahon had to say about him going up against Batista.

Tell Williamson to get in line. Waiting for S6 Smallville all last season. Sure, the Lexana (read: Lana) eps and Lois T&A eps got better than average representation but it all pretty much sucked. Probably why the ratings took such hit. I'm done ranting now.

The CW has a bad habbit of not promoting their shows all that well... and there are clear favourites when it comes to what shows will be getting the little promotion the network is willing to give.

I actually think Hidden Palms have been promoted fairly well compared to some of the network's other shows. Also, the internet buz was on long before it even aired so it had good chances of succeeding.
The promotion has gone down hill some, yes, but to me it doesn't seem like the CW really intends to keep this one around and so spending a lot of money on promotion for it wouldn't make sense.
