New York Magazine Rates The CW Pilots
New York Magazine has been taking a look at the pilots for next fall, and a couple of CW shows get great reviews.
First up, here's what they had to say about Aliens in America: "There's a bit of a Freaks and Geeks vibe to Aliens in America — the show doesn't skimp on details of how awful high school can be. ... The show could do with a bit less clueless-Midwesterners humor, but a solid setup, good performances, and an off-kilter comedic voice can take a sitcom a long way."
And here's their take on Reaper: "An engaging tone and funny actors go a long way. With its smart writing, well-observed big-box-store setting, and story of a wallflower coming into his own — plus its Hellish twist — it's like The 40-Year-Old Virgin meets The Devil's Advocate."
Will you be checking either of these shows out?

For the show Aliens in America , is extremely insulting to the young Muslims in this generation who are living in America and going to high school with people who are different from them. This show I think will make it harder for them to fit in, and might be made fun of in their school relating to the show. This show is insulting to me,and makes it seem that the Americans do not like the Muslims. Most of the population in this country are from different countries. Why on earth are they going to put this show on the air that is very sensitive to the Muslims, especially whats going on overseas. This show is very much uncalled for! Also this show is not only bringing up culture but religion! And making it into a comedy! We are not aliens we are human beings like everyone else! And if you really want to be technical we are all aliens in America because most of us are from other coutries wether its Germany , England, Spain, Russia, THE MIDDLE EAST, we all have different backgrounds.
And if you ever met a Muslim and got to know them, and know how they truly act, the ones who are humble then these people would think again to put this show on the air!

Hey Jas, having seen the pilot, you're wrong in just about all of your points on the checklist.
Maybe you should watch it first before making outlandish claims that you have no way to back up.

Aliens in America is an insulting and dated concept. The ads are loathsome.
The advertising for Reaper makes it look like its target audience is 12-year olds, and that's insulting to the few 12-year olds I personally know. All show comparisons aside, and looking at this objectively, the show looks like a saturday afternoon half-hour bubble-gum serial, not a prime-time show.

So I just read the summary of the pilot for "Reaper" and I have to say that I'm pretty mad about this whole thing. Could it be a bigger rip off of Supernatural?
Let's see...
- Main characters named Sam? Check.
- College drop outs? Check.
- Psychic abilities discovered on 21st or 23rd birthdays, respectively? Check.
- Wanted by Satan or the Big Bad Demon, respectively? Check.
- Hunting souls and demons escaped from hell? Check.
- Best friend as companion/fellow hunter (and yeah, in Supernatural they're brothers, but they're still best friends)? Check.
- Traveling the country doing said hunting in a crappy station wagon or a kickass classic muscle car, respectively? Check.
- The selling of a main character's soul to the devil? Check.
This is absolutely ridiculous. That's eight similarities from a four sentence summary of the pilot episode! There's even a character named Andi, for God's sake! Here's an idea, CW, promote the already existing version of Supernatural instead of making another one that's supposed to be "funny." We get plenty humor in Supernatural, thanks, along with other minor things such as originality.

I am seriously disappointed that there is even a "Reaper" especially after taking nearly two seasons to seriously promote Supernatural. I saw the preview for the show and really I wasnt all that impressed. Will I give Reaper a chance... yes but it will only get one.
CW need to promo Supernatural in the same manner as it treats it show. You put it in the prime yet death slot of Thursday 8c but then wait nearly all season to promote it AND THEN screw with its schedule in showing the show. It is really not cool to have month long hiatus' not once but what was it nearly three times in one season. Plan those better and for the love of the Metallicar... PROMOTE THE SHOW BETTER.
Whats funnier is that people wonder why they call the Supernatural fans crazy... we will do what we can to promote the show because the powers that be are not doing it.
