this show is toooo good. the plot and all the sub-plots make this show AMAZING! i dont see how ppl would think of calling it quits. this show is my everythingggg i honestly could not live with out Tom Welling.

It always takes an asshole like Michael Rosenbaum to call it quits when it's good. This will be the only role he'll make that has his biggest mark in show business,he should make the most of it for himself and espically to the fans. If he doesn't he will be labeled a quitter in the acting field!!!!

If smallville is your life then mus not have much of a life. Beside if it was up to you people Tom Welling would be using his bad acting to play the teenage clark well into his 40's. Beside the only reason its been on this long is because its on a crap network. If it was on any other channel. It have been canceled along time ago.

Even though he was the BEST lex luthor in history, the show shouldn't stop because of it.
Either bring in another lex(even though it would be tuff) Or make Linoel come back SOMEHOW, you have good writers they can make it happen.

I just heard about the rumor that this will be the last season of Smallville. That would STINK BIG TIME! That's one of my favorite shows! It's well done, interesting & has some male & female hotties on it!
Now I heard CW was going to can Allison Mack as Chloe? What were they freakin' thinking?!! She's adorably cute/pretty, great character, she has a power (if they keep her with it this season), and writing her out makes NO SENSE! She deserved to be kept in the show as a regular, even before Kristin decided to only come back for " a handful of episodes". Killing off & canning so many characters is NOT the way to go (It seems CW has a knack for doing that when they think a show needs a change, or something. Killing of Keith on One Tree Hill was a bummer, and I did not like it. I still really enjoy OTH, however). Better creativity & wisdom should be used.
Smallville could have Lex come back, Clark & the super heroes fight him, Lex goes into hiding or leaves anyway, with an opening idea so he could come back in the future as a regular or guest appearances. They could have Lex as the head of Luther Corp (without Michael R), while the new woman being the CEO/whatever. We are just getting the super heroes in the scene & it would be a foolish thing to can it in this stage. Awful! They could enter new villain or villains (since the DC comics have a bunch that Superman has dealt with), or derivatives of them. Most of the cast should be regulars- it keeps continuity to the show, while having different villains can add spice & differences to it. Lana could come back as a regular or from time to time, but the love triangles should stop. It was a HUGE screw up by the CW not to continue with Reba (they should bring it back. Wasn't it still popular? I bet it was more so than some other shows the CW has tried out), and it would be 'HUGER' for them to can Smallville. Things are forming & it's getting even better, especially with the addition of Aquaman, and the other super heroes. They could change the name to Metropolis, perhaps, since Clark is now at the Daily Planet, or keep Smallville name, but please DO NOT CANCEL this show! PLEASE! I got bored with the new 91210, Privileged seems good & promising (too soon to say I'm a fan), but reality shows totally turn me off (with the SOLE exception of The Beauty & The Geek, though they should ALWAYS give ALL of the geeks a makeover. Trying to make the beauties into geeks, or unattractive, that one time was cheesy & an unbelievable failure. GREAT show otherwise. Good idea to bring in a guy beauty, BTW! Keep that idea!).
Actually, if they want to can Smallville & won't budge (which I hope they do & they keep Smallville), then have Clark, ALL of the other super heroes, including Chloe & Kara/Supergirl, in a Justice League spin-off, and add Wonder Woman. Michael R can return there for however long (once, from time to time, maybe a guest appearance of Lana), if it works out, but Smalville is still well done, loved by many & should stay. Of course, when Smallville is canceled, it would be a great way to keep the above Smallville characters, but have a new series, since CW does spin-offs & (wisely) uses actors in new series (i.e.- Supernatural. Another good CW show, BTW!)
Smallville & Reaper are my must-not-miss TV shows!
PS- Bring back Kara! Supergirl would be cool. If a Wonder Woman is ever added, make sure she fits her suit & character. That would add a good deal to the formation of the Justice League.

I think they should end "Smallville" -- but have a new sequel series called -- what else? -- "Metropolis."

"Metropolis" would take place a few years later when Clark Kent is already working for "The Daily Planet."

No you cannot end smallville end because one character plans to leave. just make the player seem temporarily gone, just like pete. smallville is by far the best show on TV and can't be ended

Smallville is a great show. It has been such a great pull in the CW market for a good amount of years, but I believe it is time to take a break. One Tree Hill took about a 3-4 year break, then came back and has been a huge hit. I believe Smallville could accomplish the same; it just needs a rest for a while. The writers need some more creativity; the shows just have not been cutting it. There have been too many weak episodes. In season 8, as an avid fan, I ask that you make it more about Clark, and keep the focus there. Too many characters equal to many plots, and with too many plots a person can get lost. Keep it consistent. For example, Season 5 was, in my opinion, the best season. It took you for an emotional ride, but did not drain you, and really kept the interest with great writing, and excellent chemistry within the characters. All that to say, again, a rest would be smart. Maybe reconsider bringing it back after some time away. It might change many things. People will be hungry for it again.

Honestly, I absolutly love your show with all its brilliance and how you can relate to many of the charicters and yet adding some out of the ordinary people in there to keep it interesting.I'm constantly looking for the next episode.Im completely hooked.Though my lifestyle has changed and I have a 8 month old and a husband,im still in love with this show and it's my highlight..as sad as it may seem,thinking of it ending saddens me.I've never been so devoted to a show and completely hooked as I am smallville..please dont take that away from me or the others.Its without a doubt thee best show,allowing you to see superman as a teenager.I dont have tv but my grandma recoards it for me every thursday,and I buy the seasons for the episodes I missed.In a way,smallville even inspires.

Keep the show going.Lois and clark havent even went into play yet and there are enough new villans to keep it going..sometimes lex is just pointless and has nothing to do with whats going on.

Smallville without ANY Lex Luthor would be pretty pointless, but there did have to come a time when they transition to Metropolis - it just makes sense. Whether that happens with the actors in the current roster??....

If they cancel Smallville, The CW will be signing its own death certificate. Smallville's pilot was the highest rated premiere on the now defunct WB. I miss the WB, but it lives on in the CW.

I am sure the creative Millar/Gough team will think of cool things. I say they should add the young Green Lantern on Smallville ; That would be AWESOME!

But with the CW's crappy track record, i have a feeling that season 7 will be its last....and not even have a full 22 ep billing. I think It will maybe have 11 - 18 eps

I am an older, and I do mean older Superman fan. I remember the first Superman as a young child. Smallville has to be one of the best produced shows in a long time. I would love to see this go on for a long time. I do understand that all the actors and actresses need to move on to expand their abilities. I only hope and pray that the writers can end it with the most exciting ending ever in the history of TV! YEAH!!! for Smallville and thank you all to the cast and crew!!!! You have made an older fan very happy!!!

I have all the dvd season 1-6 if Michael wants to leave, it well be sad but i am sure there is a way that they can put in another person. why not soaps do it all the time. as long as they put in someone just as hot. Please dont end it Tom is the bomb. YOU CAN'T END SMALLVILLE. It is my Favorite.

My husband and I began watching the series missing a couple of episodes here and there. One day we just decided to begin buying the seasons. We now own all 6 seasons and are anxiously waiting for more to come.

This is the one show that can bring the entire family together, I have 2 girls that go crazy waiting for us to sit down at the end of everyday and watch the show. Even grades at school and chores are completed in a timely manner. Not to mention my 4yr old boy, who looks up to Clark Kent -Tom Welling- and always preteds to beat the bad guys.

Seven seasons is enough. Smallville cannot be Smallvile without it's full cast. If season seven is Michael's last season then it should also be the end of the series. Michael makes Smallville even better with his amazing talent. There is no point in continuing especially with the bad writing that continued into the second half of season six. I don't see it going longer than season seven; that would just be ridiculous. Let this amazing show end with some dignity please.

Seriously, don't put off Lana from the show...I like Lana ends up with Clark...I just love both of them....A lot of us who adores Lana and Clark is the reason why they can't kill their relationship eventhough Lois is there. Aside from that, they have this obvious, undenying great chemistry between them that one of the reasons why Smallville is still running...

Smallville doesn't need to end, but the end of Season 7 should have Clark going to the fortress of solitude. That way, when he comes back as superman, he can be his own age, and the other characters can be too. I think Chloe could marry Jimmy. I don't believe we've ever seen or heard of a wife for him. She would be perfect. That way there would still be a story line for them. Lois is already a fixture on Superman and Tom would do very well as an adult. (He is anyway) It's only my opinion, but I know there are a lot of people out there that love the show and don't want it to end.

I don't really care about Rosenbaum. He wants to go? Bye bye then. Luthor is the nemesis of Superman, not Clark... They have to be appart from each other for a long time before they meet again in Metropolis as arch-enemies. There is so many people in the DC universe that could give young Clark some trouble; Green Lantern, Wonder-Woman, Bruce Wayne, Darkseid, Lobo, Mr Mlxptz (whatever his name is), Hugo Strange, Ra's Al Guhl, etc... Smallville should be a small chapter in Luthor's life. Not a complete saga...Anyway, the writers of the show are doing a fine, very fine job so I'm confident that they will provide us with good shows even without Lex. I'm just disapointed that the actors can decide whenever they can go or not. When you are involve in a project that gives you instant celebrity, credibility and some kind of immortality (in 50 years, I know that there will still be some people watching the tapes, dvd or whatever), you should have a little more respect for the ones that believed in you as well as the fans... I don't know why he leaves the show, and unless it is because of family or health problems, as far as I'm concerned, I will boycott every single project that this actor will be involve with for a long time. Quitting a Suoerman project? Too bad for ya, pal, the series can live without you for sure. Good luck for the rest of the team, you have done incredible job before and I'm sure you are not done yet... and please put some glasses on Clark before he becomes a man... a superman...

While I am just about the biggest Smallville fan on the planet I would rather see the show cancelled with 7 amazing seasons than see it dragged on for 2 more seasons. It is better to have 7 seasons that are true to the original ideals of smallville than 7 good seasons and 2 or 3 crappy ones that lose the point at the end of the series.

If lex (Michael Rossenbaum) has to leave it wont be the same but why not hire someone else to play Lex?

i live in SA don't know how far behinf we are on the episode of smallville.. but those i've seen(i never miss an episode)is great! i find so hard to accet that clark ad lana doesn't get to be together!!! hey are so much in love with each other and everytime i see that they don't get to be together i get all sad.. so i think it's time lana leaves. further on the shows great and should never be stoped! and i recon that Tom should've been the one playing superman in the movie superman.. i for shure would've watched it then.. keep up the great work peeps. and i wish you all good luck in your future with your acting careers.. he're in SA we don't have that a big of marked for acting..

I've been a huge superman fan since i was about 3 years old when i first saw superman with the great Christopher Reeves, and feel that Smallville has been excellent the cast are all very talented and may i say TOM you are hot!! I feel that if smallville comes to an end you need to end it with a bang. For a suggestion i feel the episode labled SUPERMAN from season 7 should be an episode where we get to see clark finally come to terms and realise his destiny and put on the sexy superman suit.

I have been a fan of Superman all my life. I absolute love, love Smallville. In my opinion, I feel Clark needs to move on and let Lana go. I think it's time that he and Lois start a spark. Lois is fresh and she brings humor and life to the story. She has spunk! And I love the way she pushes Clark's buttons. I have fallan in love with the Clark and Lois saga. Don't stray too far from the traditional story of Superman. Please, don't stop the show. Even though Lex is great, villians come a dime a dozen. And you have to bring Clark and Lois together before the show ends. Besides, Superman can't fly yet! How can you give the show justice without the man of steel flying?

I think smallville shouldn't end because everyone wants to see lana and clark together with no strings attached also lex does make the story interesting but at the same time he died back in the t.v. series lois and clark and the show still went on there will always be more enemies for superman and i dont think they should stop this show could become the longest running t.v. series ever because its so interesting and clark makes the show stay alive as well as lana not just lex dont stop until tom welling wants to

Smallville is a great show...the problem with it is the fact that there focusing on one theme (love) rather then 2 or three...In opinion I think that even if lex luthor(Michael Rosenbaum) leaves the show, the cast and everyone that works on smallville should think about putting in Doomsday.... Doomsday was a biological weapon made by an alien who had landed on Krypton hundreds of thousands of years ago. Although Lex Luthor is what makes The story of Superman Famous, He is Not The only one...But like it always is and always will be, "Even If Smallville Ends, The Legend Of Superman Will Continue."

Also, I do think the writting styles could use some change.. Instead of having each episode start and end having one villan (sometimes more) do something and get caught for it in the end, drag it out (but make it interesting) so it keeps the viewers in suspence for the next episode.. I think it would be a great idea to make all episodes as good as the season finales!!

NO!! DONT CANCEL IT!! Smallville is such a great show and if it has great ratings why should you? I dont think you should follow the "Superman Story". Lana and Clark are perfect together.. let them be together.. and the villans could also use her to get to Clark (and bring her back.. she CANT die!) Also, if "Lex" leaves use the other LUTHOR!! He would make a GREAT villan!! He knows all Clarks secrets, and could use them against him! I dont know.. just whatever you do DONT cancel it!! AND PLEASE BRING BACK LANA!

Lex is Superman's biggest nemesis, but just because Michael Rosenbaum is leaving Smallville does not mean that the show cannot function without him. I think other antagonists should be introduced, as previously proposed by other people, and that it should have more time to develop Clark's character into his ultimate Superman form. He still has quite a bit of character development left and to rush it in one season would not only lessen the show's quality, but would throw all the slow and steady progress the show has made thus far into the garbage.

Besides, this show cannot end before Clark and Chloe blossom, they have such great chemistry and there is definitely something there, it must happen! Clark and Lois is a no go in my book. Haha but that is my hopeful side, I just want the end of Smallville to justify the show. At this point, it's not about ratings but about integrity and paying respects to the Superman plot by making this show the best it could possibly be, and that is not finishing the whole Smallville series in the next season when so much has yet to be accomplished. I will continue watching if there is a season 8, no doubt.

We already know that there are more villains out there for Clark. I do agree that he needs more of a backbone, now that he's older. The Lois-Clark relationship should not happen at all, at least not until he's moved from Smallville.
I know that Smallville does not follow the original mythos for Superman. The JL was just formed, so we need more of the people that are in the JL, which includes Wonder Woman/Diana Prince and Batman/Bruce Wayne. (Kara is Kal-El's cousin, but she is much younger than Kal-El is and did not, in the original, show up until Clark was Superman for a while... but it could be interesting.)
Lex (MR) can leave, since there are more villains. Lana should come back, as well as Martha (guest appearances, like they did for a couple of shows for Johnathan after his death).
Smallville has more life in it. So, it should not end.
I say give it a few more seasons, as long as the actors want to do it, but step up on the writing without all the focus on the love partnerships.

There is no doubt that smallville has more stories to tell. Smallville is the best show I have ever watch and I am a TV show freak (just kidding) but seriously I am thinking about becoming a TV critic, and I know that there is definately more to see from the young clark Kent. Well for one thing we haven't even see him fly yet except for season 4 when he was Ka-lel. Im sure if the writers of smallville put their minds to it they could come up with loads more exciting story lines.

Please don't take Smallville away. It is probably the best show on tv, and also my favorite.
Also, i hope Lana is not really dead. The show would not be the same without her. Clark needs her and so do viewers!

Im not really a big TV watcher, Im more into video games and online but this is the one show I will drop everything for. I hate missing an episode and if by chance i do im online the next day trying to find it so I can know what happened. If U were to turn off the show i would have nothing to do on my thursdays, i plan on buying all seasons on DVD to get my fix, but that would not be enough. Superman has other major villians other than Lex that they can use to create a story line. They could even get in more depth with the Justice League. no they shouldn't end smallville with season 7, because they have so many other plots that they can do. i believe that micheal will return or even renogociate his contract. in s7 however it should be focused on clark becoming superman and excepting his destiny. that will be excellant since supergirl with most likely be on the show next season.If smallville does end, it should end with s8. they can focus on clark as superman saving the world and metropolis, teaming up with batman and forming the justice league and ending it with a two part series finale with the emergence of Darkside and the threat he brings to the metropolis and the world.....

They have plans for two more seasons, and if they have plans that means they have plot. Lex is irredeamable at this point, so if they could convince Michael to pop in for maybe 6 episodes out of 22 for the last (8th) season, that'd be great. I think one season with minimal Lex would be OK. Superman has other villians, and we know now exactly how evil Lex is. With Supergirl coming and the need to develop Clark into Clark Kent Star reporter, you have plenty of plot. Not to mention all the freaks that were locked away got let out by the Justice League; can you say Mxyzptlk? (That was a joke. Haha. *sighs*)

If Michael Rosenbaum leaves, Smallville as much as it hurts should also go. There is no point for the show to continue without its second most important character. Especially since Lex Luthor and Clark Kent are the key factors to the show and story plot. In any case, it should have a worthy ending in a season 8, where clark decides to follow his destiny and goes off to save the world. Perhaps we can see a movie about this later on that follows up..that would be just FANTASTIC!!!

As soon as Rosenbaum has trouble finding work he will be begging to come back. Celebs don't realize what it means to work a job day in and day out for many years. they should go for season 7 and then make season 8 the last one cuz there is no point on dragging the superman story cuz lets face it some of the stories on the episodes are complete bull....they should finish the season with clark and his mom looking towards the corn fields as he bout to leave for the fortress and thats it as he finally accepts his destiny an goes for the training..

I like Lex but the show should continue without him!! I mean I'd love to see a villian have a long stay on the show that isn't Lex. Bring back Brainiac as a regular. I mean every villian that isn't Lex never get a chance to shine with him around. Plus the lame Lana/Lex relationship made Lex uncool. I think he should leave but make guest appearances. If Lana isn't dead she needs to leave and just make guest appearances as well. Hell since she faked her death most likely, it would be smart if her face isn't shown for awhile. With it left as a mystery if she's alive or not. Clark should just bump into her the middle of the season. That's smart Lost style writing that Smallville doesn't have. We don't need to know right away if Lana is alive since no one likes her anyway.

Smallville should continue!! Because he must still evolve as a character and grow. Chloe's death paves the way for Clark to enter journalism as long as he could rely on her help he was never going to push for knowledge of the world's troubles and take on that role. Clark has been forced to always be out of reach of Lana. Clark must come to realize that it just won't happen and give up in hopelessness, this way the relationship between he and Lois will begin to take form. Heroes and morals are in very short supply today and I personally hope Clark and Tom will stay the course. Superman has always been a favorite I love all of it and nothing can compare!!! WB/CW PLEASE KEEP IT ON AS LONG AS POSSIBLE..LOVE TO THE SMALLVILLE CAST-THANKS for all your work!!!

If the producers do decide to end the show, then I recommend they end it on a high note (which would include Lana and Clark ending up together, otherwise their love story would be completely meaningless No body wants to see Clark fall for Lois specially after following the love story between Clark and Lana. Small ville does not have to follow the superman movies.

I'd love Smallville to stay with us forever and if producers continue writing more storylines I promise I'll be there to see them. But maybe it's a great moment to finish it, obviously with a wonderful end since the you deserves it. And maybe the end could help actors, I think there are great actors in Smallville and I'd love to see them on movies.

Oh, just end it already. If the showrunners are not prepared to let the show be about anything else but The Perils of Lana, there is no point. Clark's obsession with her is tedious, Lex's makes him look like an idiot. Time to move on.

With an idiot like Claire writing about Smallville, CW doesn't need competitors. CW does a good job of badmouthing their own shows. Critics like Goodman was right, nobody watches CW. Someone who is not braindead should fire Clarie's ass.

Bring back Jeph Loeb to write the episodes. Get rid of Erica Durance and give Chloe back her job of being the Lois of Smallville. Give Clark some backbone and bring back the magic of Season 1 with Clark-lana-Chloe-Lex stories.

I can see Smallville ending after 7 seasons. That's a good run for a show, and the actors might still pop up on other shows (Supernatural's a hot-spot for former Smallvillians).

If the writers can redeem an ICON who has become a sad Dawson's Creek imitation, then I could see a 8th season. But I fear there will be half a season of getting Lois to the DP and half a season of what happened to Lana. Its sad, his dad dies and is barely mentioned but the loss of Lana will reverberate up until a resolution of her cause of death. As I think Lana's death is a fake out ala Chloe's, will anyone ever call Lana out for playing both sides or for doing anything wrong ever, like spying your way into learning Clarks secret?
There is potential material for an 8th season but the ratings will continue to fall if the writers continue to put out the weak product of the last half of the season.

Smallville can't really continue without Lex Luthor. But it would be great to see a Justice League spin off with Clark, the Green Arrow and some of the others. Justin Hartley was great.

I am still waiting on Clark Kent to grow up and leave his childhood in the past including Lana.(I'm SO tired of the Lana and Clark story.)I want to see the connection begin to start with him being a journalist at the Daily planet and him starting to fall for Lois. I spend most of my nights watching Smallville!! When I found out there was newer episodes , I got up and started to sream!

I think Smallville can go on for at least another two seasons. It's one of the best shows on the CW network, and I'd hate to see it go. However, I agree with a few others when I say they would have to make a few changes to make it worthwhile. Like everyone said, some of the "shippyness" would have to be toned down a bit. I think Smallville could a bit longer if they pushed it towards a young superman. They haven't explored all his powers. There is still a lot of character development left to do for young Clark Kent. I know the show is called Smallville, but I think they should push it a little bit away from the town. Clark still has a lot to to learn, imo, about the world and about himself. I think Smallville can last, maybe it has to "grow up" a little more to do so. I can't imagine the show without Lex. However, there are other villians and if done properly it could work without him.

To many shows are ending too soon. This show has good actors and if they are given good scripts it can continue. I hope it will stay on for years longer. It is a very special show.

You need to end it ASAP. They're already repeating a lot of stories multiple times. How many times do we have to see Lana getting stalked, Lex getting knocked unconscious and Clark moping in his loft?

I think Smallville should call it quits after season 7. Clark should have left Smallville for training at 18 and I think he is right now 19/20. If the show goes on forever then when is this Clark Kent going to accept his destiny @the age of 50?.
Next season the show should focus on Clark learning about Krypton, how it was destroyed and learn more about Jor-El and Lara from MM and Lionel. They should show us glimpses of Krypton, Jor-El and Lara. In the meanwhile Clark should be helping out JL whereever his assisstance is required.

Smallville is a great show and it should continue especially since the cw has cancelled other shows. Smallville does not have to follw the true story of superman.

After the crap of season 6, I think it's about that time for Smallville to end. The ratings are turning into shit because of the same old thing over and over again. This show has gotten to predictable and the PTB continue to shit on the fans thinking that people are just going to sit and take it. People that have been fans since the beginning see that it's time to let Smallville end. And hopefully, since 7 is an odd number and most people,myself included see that the odd numbered seasons are the best, this show would end on a high note and not turn into the next 7th Heaven

I think this could reinvigorate the show and the actors to give us some great performances and story-lines.

I think the show could work without Lex Luthor. After all, there are lots more bad guys out there, and Clark and Lex will have a lifetime of battles ahead.

However, I don't think the show can go past another season with the current level of writing, and the boring emphasis on 'ships and love triangles. Whats the first spoiler that comes out about season 7? "New editor for the DP that is a love interest for Lois". Give me a Break!

If we were actually telling a young Superman story here, and lets be honest, we really don't seem to be doing that anymore, then I'd say the show could have 2 good seasons left in it. But the best these showrunners can do is stall the story by regressing Clark, or mire him down in puppy doggish high school romance, or push him to the side and focus on guest stars or the supporting characters love lives. The worst is having Clark inexplicably stick his head in the sand because the writers can't figure out how to write an exciting, and engaging journey.

Unless Millar and Gough are willing to take some chances, and make some big changes, and shake up the status quo and venture forward, then really, lets hang it up at season 7 before it gets too embarassiing.

It's time Kent grew up already. If you're not going to show that on Smallville, end it.

It needs to end at seven and go out on a high note - well, as much as is possible considering the trash of season 6. Don't let this show become the next Seventh Heaven - everyone knows it's done, yet it gets dragged out and inflicted on the viewing public. Season 6 reeked. Season 7 can benefit from it being written as the last one and everyone moving forward instead of another season of Lana-ville: The tragedy continues.

hmmm. a season 8? i guess that depends on how far the writers get with CK's character development in S7. true, much of the 'superman myth' revolves around superman and lex luthor. but IMO CK's character is still developing into the man of steel he will one day become. and, inasmuch as i really hate seeing MR leave the show (i really do because i just love MR), i don't think the writers need the character of lex luthor to further the development of CK's character. that would be the writing staff's challenge for a S8. and, if there is a S8, i really don't want to see any of the 7-yr. contract actors, if at all possible. after S8, the show should call it quits.

while i was sad to hear that AoT wouldn't be returning for S7, it wasn't much of a surprise to me because she was hardly around during the second half of S6. makes sense that CK needs to "cut the strings" eventually. she can always appear as a special guest if they have to.

Smallville is one of the shows that keeps the CW alive If I were them I would keep it until they were a more established network.
