Gossip Girl: The Next Hot Music Show?
We’ve heard a lot of talk about how Gossip Girl is The O.C. Version 2.0 – after all, it’s produced by Josh Schwartz, it concerns fabulously wealthy teens and it makes fashionistas’ hearts go pitter-pat. Now Billboard magazine says the show is poised to take over as the show for music.
It helps that Gossip Girl’s music supervisor is Alexandra Patsavas of Chop Shop Music, who made The O.C. a great show for music fans. She’s got the same goal in mind for the new show:
"What 'The O.C.' did for indie rock, we'd like 'Gossip Girl' to do for pop," she tells Billboard. "I'm relying on old favorites while exploring current pop music. And since the show revolves primarily around high school students in New York, we'll definitely be using some New York-based bands. But these kids listen to the radio, too, so there will be that music, too."
What kind of acts can you expect? Billboard reports that the pilot episode spotlights music by Rihanna, the Mooney Suzuki, Hanson, Amy Winehouse, Angels & Airwaves and others.
Hanson? Really? Well, we loved the music of The O.C., so we’re going to trust that Patsavas knows what she’s doing.
What sort of music are you hoping to hear on Gossip Girl? Will anything equal The O.C. when it came to integrating music into a show, or do you think that aspect was over-hyped?

Good news people! I finally found the song a lot people are asking of. The song at the end of season one's fifth episode, the one Rufus listens to after Lilly leaves. "in september....the first time we met". The song is called Something like that by Tim (i believe they are now called Song and Wager. hey i just wanted to say to those asking about the nate-serena sex scene music. it is the song "Photograph" by: Air. it is used in episodes 1 and 6; "Pilot" and "Victor/Victrola" it is the scene where Nate and Serena are hooking up/Chuck tries to raoe Serena/Nate dumps Blair in the first episode. and then the
scene where Nate and Serena are hooking up in front of Dan in the 6th episode.

I'd just like to agree with the above comment stating that One Tree Hill is the IT show for music.
Forget soundtrack sales. Think about what artists have had such huge success with OTH. I could name 20 or more. The OC... was so awful.. especially music wise...yeah okay maybe 4 artists benefited from it... I guess that's just my opinion..
As for Hanson. The song fit perfectly. This band has stayed true to who they are for 10 years and have fought battles at such an young age nobody could possibly imagine. They truly are artists... more then MMMBop! So props to choosing such an excellent band to open a season/show with.

well whatever song is used on these shows are only going to turn mainstream because the people who watch these shows don't really care about the music. They download soundtracks of the show, not because they actually think the music is good. So either way, the music will be listened to by people who only care about the mainstream, which is a shame because there is some really cool music for these shows, almost "too cool" for generic shows like this.

Gossip Girls isn't going to be the new show for music especially if your going of the promo music Glamorous by fergie, The O.C music wasn't that great.
The best music show is One Tree Hill they use the best music and it's not all from mainstream artist unlike which the O.C.

The O.C. music was good in season 1, then it pretty much suck like the show to.
One Tree Hill IS the music show. If there was a poll we can vote i'm sure OTH would win easy. And the sountracks for OTH has sold waaaay better then The O.C.s
And whats up with this hype about this show Gossip Girl? What ive seen on the trailers it dosent look good at all. And seriously, i realy want to see this show, but you know, after season 1 of The O.C. i cant trust Josh.
