Gossip Girl: Serena Returns, Blair Freaks, And Dan Makes a Move
Finally, Gossip Girl premiered! So, what'd you guys think of the much-hyped first episode? Did it live up to (or exceed!) your expectations? Who's your favorite character so far?
Don't you just love the Blair/Serena feud? "You're kinda not invited." Snap! Blair's bitchiness is unparalleled when she wants to turn it on. But beneath that tough exterior is a really hurt and confused girl. In that brief scene at the Palace Hotel bar, the B and S love showed -- in spite of Blair's bitterness over Serena's mysterious departure. And it speaks highly of Serena (well, and of Blake Lively's acting) that we don't hate her in spite of finding out that she slept with Nate. Whose side are you on in the Blair/Serena battles?
Jenny's naivete made us want to give her a big hug. She's so earnest and wholesome and cute that she seemed way out of place among all those wiser-than-their-years teen sophisticates at the Kiss on the Lips party. But seriously, Jenny, when a sleazy guy like Chuck tells you he wants to "talk," maybe think twice next time. With a loyal big bro like Dan around as an example, you should have better taste in men!
On to the boys. Chuck skeeves us out, but we guess he's supposed to, so he's doing a good job of it. In no high school would the adorable Dan be a loser or an outcast, but we'll suspend our disbelief, because he does a darn good job of playing one. And Nate? Well, he's kind of wishy-washy. His people-pleasing tendencies started to drive us crazy -- one minute he's after Serena, the next, trying to keep Blair happy, the next, breaking up with Blair, and then five minutes later, trying to win her back because his father pressured him. Nate, stand up for yourself already!
The budding romance between Dan and Serena has us rooting for them, but we're worried that Dan's wrong-side-of-the-tracks upbringing will come back to haunt him. Will he fit in at all those glam parties? Does he even want to? It'd be awesome if Serena kept ditching the fetes to hang with Dan in Brooklyn, but we can't forget that Nate's still in the picture. Nate, the guy she betrayed her best friend with. Something tells us that pairing is far from over...

DAN AND SERENA should totally end up together !! if they don't, my heart will break for dan/serena. It's not that i don't like nate, it's just that he's too problematic, he should be with blair because she loves him so much. What he and serena had is in the past and it should stay there !

I think that the Gossip Girls shows are AWFUL!! I am an absolute fan to the max of the books but the show doesn't do them justice! I mean COME ON! Where is V while D is drooling over S?? And how come D isn't the poetic coffee deep depressed soul we have all come to know and love? The shows NEED to follow the book more! And it was so wrong of them to put book 1 into just ONE episode! It would have been so much better if they make the shows more spread out! That's what they are doing with book 2, but still if V doesn't come in sometimes soon and sweep D of his poetic (not grr) feet i am seriously going to consider not watching next week.

I've kept up with the Gossip Girl book forever and when I heard the show was coming out I couldn't believe it. I was so excited! The bad news is the show is during my night class which I don't get out of until 10pm. =( Does anyone know how I can watch episodes online?

I love gossip girl. cant wait for next week. Ahh i'm so excited. So many things were like in the books but a few were different. Some of the characters didnt look like i thought they would but nate was perfect!!!!!!

Just another teen drama. Completely unrelatable and not a sympathetic character in the bunch. Had about as much warmth as the polar ice caps.

Well, i've read all the GG books since they came out, and I have to say this wasn't all that bad. Some points i was screaming that thats not how it went but I could deal, after all they do that in every series or movie. But come Erik is younger than Serena and tried killing himself?? ehhh so not true. I'm interested to see how they will pull of the whole Brown book.

Watched the pilot Tuesday, and will be watching new episodes every Tuesday on CTV. Gotta love living here in Canada.

I know it's not supposed to be based a hundred percent on the books, so I won't bash Serena, seeing as in the show she's alright.
But when it comes to the orginal GG, Serena is a real piece of work.

I enjoyed the premier. It's just like Josh Schwartz to make a show like this. It's better than the OC and it's got an extra something. Plus, Penn Badgley and Chace Crawford are in it, do I need more reasons? :D

In regards to the amount of promotion the CW granted GG and the fan base of the books, the ratings are disappointing. (3.65 mil and 71% retention out of ANTM) The CW was expecting GG to be a "breakout" show for them...so far it's not. The next couple months will be interesting when GG begins going up against new episodes of other dramas.
