Gossip Girl: Is the Serena/Blair War Over?

Blair stepped up her scorched-earth campaign against Serena on Gossip Girl, and the results were explosive. But our Queen Bee learned that in every war, there's collateral damage -- civilians get hurt. Will that realization change her? We'll see...

We were shocked by Blair's path of destruction this episode. Yes, what Serena (and Nate, we hasten to add -- Serena didn't act alone, but Nate isn't feeling any of the consequences!) did was horrible, but dragging Serena up in front of all the Ivy League reps to "confess" her drug and/or alcohol problem? That's too far! A stunt like that could jeopardize Serena's chances to go to college -- although we have to say, not getting into an Ivy is hardly the end of the world. There are more than just seven colleges in the world, you know?

Nate knows that -- but his father doesn't. Poor Nate -- we actually started to feel for him this episode. He's really trying to take a stand, and he even came right out and told his father that he didn't want to go to Dartmouth, then made sure Dan had the opportunity to impress. But Daddy Dearest won't let that fly, setting up a surprise meet with the Dartmouth rep the next day. Dad needs to learn to back off -- or Nate needs to realize he's allowed to turn his back on his trust fund and build his own life. Somehow, we don't think Nate is ready for that, though.

Chuck is certainly not ready for that, and he remains an unrepentant bad guy. We kind of love him for that, even while we hate his guts. "Why should I be the Yale usher? Because I'm Chuck Bass!" Oh, please! And yet, it worked. And the, he dumped the Yale guy for a chance to jump into bed with the Princeton rep! You've got to hand it to Chuck -- he's consistent. Consistently awful, but consistent nonetheless.

We're glad Jenny and Eric met -- maybe she can help ground him, and he can help her realize how many perils lie in the world she's trying to enter. And we're even more glad that Jenny was there for tell Dan what Serena was doing to protect her brother -- and he better give her another chance. Yes, Serena is part of the world of privilege, but she's trying to change. Dan can help her, if he gives her the chance.

What did you think? Were you surprised by Blair's actions, or was it what you've come to expect? Are you starting to warm up to Nate? Will Jenny and Eric become an item? What, if anything, will reignite the war between Blair and Serena? Answer our polls, and share your thoughts in the comments!

TEAM SERENA IS MORE LIKE IT.
Blair in real life, is a nice laid-back person. But on the show she's a deceiving little bitch. The way she handles her resentment towards serena for sleeping with her boyfriend [granted is messed up beyond belief], is just pitiful.

I love this show sooooo much!I can't wait to see the next episode because I want to see if the fight between Serena and Blaire is over!

TEAM BLAIR!!!

I LUV THIS SHOW!!! the story line iz freaking amazing! the plot between blair n serena iz out of this world! this should be an exactly perfecto 1st season!

i dont like the fact that they managed to use all of the story from the first book in the first episode. i mean, what are they going to do? i havent read all of the books, but they are going to have to do some serious ad libbing to make an entire season at this rate. i mean seriously...there are only 12 books!

i love gossip girl it is great and nate ia hottie :)

Why the emphasis on Blair's bitchyness in the recap? How about emphasising that scene at the end which Leighton (and Blake) completely rocked which showed just how hurt and broken Blair was when her BFF abandoned her. Yes, Blair channels all that hurt into a bitchy way, but thats how she deals with the pain about Serena. I don't excuse her behaviour but she's not the bitch the article makes her out to be. That final scene of the episode more than proved that.
