Gossip Girl: Dan Studies Sex; Blair Tries Burlesque
As the promos promised, last night's Gossip Girl had it all: violence (Nate/Nate's dad), revenge hookups (Blair/Chuck), steamy-almost-sex-but-not-quite (Dan/Serena), and betrayal (Nate/Blair). We liked the episode, especially the Dan scenes. How cute was it when he kept *almost* getting caught reading the Kama Sutra and studying up on the art of sensous massage? His dreams (nightmares?) about learning sex tips from watching Serena and Nate hook up and getting bad ratings for his performance in bed were so cringeworthy. But it all turned out okay when Serena, who was all over him early in the episode, finally confessed to feeling scared about sex. The couple continued their adorable streak, cuddling naked instead of actually doing the deed. So sweet! We love them.
No one else in this episode was having such a good time. Jenny spilled the truth about Nate to Blair, leaving Blair heartbroken... and pissed. Could you believe her? "Jenny, you're dismissed." Ouch. Talk about shooting the messenger!
Meanwhile, Nate struggled with his increasingly messed-up family. Between using his and Blair's relationship to land the Waldorf acccount, pawning off the blame for his coke on Nate, and lashing out on his son with a right hook to the chin, Nate's dad is a role model... for how NOT to be a dad. And Nate's mom isn't much better, with her ongoing creepy denial of her husband's drug problem. Now that he's arrested, it sounds like bad parenting and coke dealing aren't Nate's dad's only crimes. Fraud and embezzlement? Oh, we're looking forward to seeing how this plays out.
And then there was Chuck. The Bass boy tried to get closer to his dad... by proposing investment in a burlesque club. At first, the plan looked like a failure, but later, Chuck's dad's other woman talked him into it. Only on Gossip Girl can 17-year-olds bond with their parents over half-naked women and whiskey! Things couldn't have been better between the Basses... until Chuck revealed that he'd told Lily about Mr. Bass's affair. Once again, Chuck was left alone. But not for long. Soon, a totally rejected Blair showed up, ready to shake it onstage in nothing but a slip. Her recklessness continued when she and Chuck got steamy with a hot makeout session... and maybe more? We'll find out next week.
Vanessa really bugged us this episode. Enough with the unannounced visits! Who actually does that with their friends? At least have the decency to call or knock. We thought that walking in on Dan and Serena once would give her a wakeup call, but then she did it again later in the episode. Her heart's in the right place, but clearly, her manners aren't.

WOW!! I dont know if its me only, but i just think that Blair and Chuck make such a sexy couple..They're both mean n hot.lol.and well the show is just gettin better! i also think that serena mom should get back with dan dad..I mean, after all S and D dont got the same blood,so why cant their parents be happy?..huh

OMG! Serena and Dan should just like, get married! Haha, but Chuck and Blair should become an item, and Nate and Jenny should go out. I`m kinda bringing in some stuff from the book, too. (You Know You Love Me) but Blair just tries WAY too hard to be the one to make Nate happy and Jenny just can! Like, on the episode of Blair`s birthday, Blair and Nate were broken up and he hung out with Jenny! They`re just perfect. But he really needs to get over Serena. I mean O-V-E-R!

Okay lemme get straight 2 the point (i don't wanna bore u) blair+chuck=a catastrophe! like seriously a gr8 twist but blair and chuck hard 2 belive... It's a lil 2 sexy showing them well... u know but... i <3 this show soo much i may b a lil young but i understand everythang... and the stupid strike maan i dont want his show 2 end i luv watching it evry wednesday its soo much fun! This show just keeps getting better. It's jawdroppingly scandalous and fun just like Desperate Housewives.. I even bought the first book because I love the show so much!! Anyways.. about Victor, Victrola - the Dan fantasy/nightmare sequences were so well written.. somewhat jarring but great comedic timing! Chuck is actually a good influence on Blair because he helps her get out of this rigid shell. The girl on the stage last night was a far cry from the stiff model that got fired by her own mom several weeks ago. As much as I want to despise Chuck just for what he tried to do to Jenny when we first met him, Ed brings a surprising sensitivity to the character - but not so much that you don't still love to hate him half the time! Nate / Chace have really shaped up in the last few episodes. The character seems to have more depth and the actor is getting a chance to shine. I don't think his family will prevent him from being happy - though it will keep him angsty and broody in his own closed off way.. but he's so cute when he pouts so there's a silver lining to his personal tragedy, for the audience anyway! Poor poor Jenny.. who knows if Blair will take her back under her manipulative wing after this fallout. But don't cry for her too long, she's the star of the GG spinoff The It Girl so things can't be so bad for little J Humphrey. I really want to like Vanessa, and as a person I think she rocks, but as a foil to Dan and Serena she's just annoying.. Rufus and Lily were soo cute together at the gallery - he makes it impossible to hate her!
Arghh.. I am going to miss this show SO much during this stupid strike! We only have 6 episodes left unless things get resolved in Hollywoodland :( At least I feel confident that the show has a strong enough following that it can survive the blackout - unlike some other newcomers this fall.
