Well, Penn Badgley and Blake Lively were on The View for about four minutes last hour. Who saw it? Even though it was really short, we were impressed -- they're pretty well-spoken, especially Blake. Of course, The View ladies didn't exactly ask anything we hadn't heard before. What do they think of gossip (It can be bad, especially when it's about you)? Is the show too racy for teens (It's heightened reality, but it still comes from the behavior of real teenagers)? Come on, Whoopi and Sherri -- ask 'em something we don't know already!

One thing they did touch on that we hadn't heard before was the fact that Penn and Blake go way back -- like eight or nine years back! But before Blake could elaborate, Whoopi was on to the next question, so we'll have to figure out that connection on our own.

Penn's mom was in the audience, which was cute (and she was refreshingly normal and momlike). But poor Penn! His mom had brought some truly embarrassing cheesecake pre-Gossip Girl pics of him to share, including one that said "XOXO Penn" (eerily prophetic, given that it's Gossip Girl's tagline!) on it as he stared dreamily into the camera. Penn didn't look too happy about this, and he blushed noticeably.

As for their outfits? Blake was all grown-up ladylike in golden waves, diamond earrings, and a metallic strapless dress, while Penn dressed down for the occasion in jeans, a button-down, and a skinny black tie.

And that's about it! Hopefully these two will get more screentime next time they swing by The View.
