One Tree Hill Podcast: A Look Back
In this week's One Tree Hill podcast for "I Forgot to Remember to Forget", Sarah and I discuss Lucas's failed proposal, Peyton's reaction and whether it was justified, the potential awkwardness of the Chad/Sophia scenes, and what we hope is NOT next for Naley and their crazy nanny.
Comments
Hello , well everybody knows that Peyton has always loved Lucas and that Lucas has always loved Peyton since he saw her comet and in season 4 both of them say it ..
But I know that Brooke loves lucas too 'coz it's obvious !! she has always been jalous of LEYTON ect . . but personnaly , I liked her when she was with Chase and I think she still have feelings for him coz' when he comes back in the 511 ,peyton kisses him and tells : Brooke was looking , it means that she still have feelings for him , but it's too bad that he left !
WELL WELL , I like the ""naley" scenes so much , God !! everybody knows that Nathan Loves haley and that that love is mutual , But I really don't like nanny carrie , but I think that her charachter is here to tell us that nathan would never cheat on haley and it's really adorable !!
Thank u

Brooke and Lucas have always belonged together...There chemistry is amazing i mean come on look at everything those 2 have been through i will be very surprised and pissed off if they don't realize that they love each other....Brooke says she came back for her friends but truly in her heart she wants Lucas she loves him and Lucas loves her too.....By the way just a question or comment the one thing pissing me off about this season is characters that i loved just disappeared....Where is Deb, Bevin, Rachel, and coem on you know you have to throw Jake into the mix i mean if anyone should end up with Peyton it is Jake. he loved her so much and she loves him too, Jake were are you??? And where did hot Uncle Cooper go i mean he just makes it great to watch when he is there....Nathan don't ruin your life by goin with nanny she is disgustin compared to Haley and Jaime just continues to gwt more cute every week...

wow im glad you two girls have finally said what everyones been thinking forever that Lp suck big time lol, they have no chemistry at all and brucas have way more chemisty .Mark should realise that brucas are so much better than lp could ever wish to be lol

I`m really dissapointed that you guys did not talk so much about the fact that Brooke still have feelings fom Lucas. And Brooke and Lucas has really chemistry. And I missed the fact that you did not point out that Brooke was the one who was there when his dream came true, and the thing that Brooke said that Lucas would have been the guy she could have lost it all for. and that she jumped into work when her heart was broken again( season 5). And I think that Brooke and Lucas should be an end game because their love will nor alter.

First off I loved all of your comments on this podcast and thought they were all spot on. The proposal scene was kinda heartbreaking because i saw where both of them were coming from and the fact that Lucas just wasn't listening to Peyton. (And i am not a Leyton fan, so it had to be a good scene).
But with the whole Brooke and Lucas thing, i loved it and hated it at the same time. It gave us the Brucas that so many of us want, but i think it was just Marks way of kinda satisfying us for a while and keeping us watching and just a tease, which pissed me off. What also pissed me off his what Jackie said about Mark saying that he doesn't want to give Chad and Sophia love scenes. Ok i get that you want to be sensitive to them and all but their personal life should not affect the show, and it sucks that it does. Don't get me wrong i adore Sophia and I don't want her to have to be uncomfortable at work but on the other side I need my Brucas. Chad and Sophia have this AMAZING chemistry on screen that is undeniable, and you guys are so right Chad and Hilary don't have it. And I've tried to watch this objectively to see what all the Leyton fans see but it just isn't there for me. And that dinner scene sealed it, it felt like two old friends catching up, not like two people who are soo in love with each other that haven't seen each other in a long time. Where on the other hand the scenes between Brooke and Lucas were just on fire. What i'm kinda disappointed you didn't touch on is that fact that they made it clearly obvious that Brooke was still in love with Lucas in those flashbacks. With the whole "your not going to see me for awhile" cause she has to distance herself from him to get over him. Then the whole "Lucas Scott would have been the one boy I would have lost it for" and then she threw herself into her work with Victoria right after she got done telling Lucas that is what he should do to get over his broken heart. They made it obvious but I need to know why. Cause it seems like everything is pointing at a Leyton reunion, which i unfortunately think is going to happen, but then why even show us that Brooke still loved Lucas?!? Oh and who else loves that fact that it was Brooke next to Lucas when his dream came true, or at least the one that celebrated with him?!? Lets not forget when Peyton first asked him that question last season his first response was Brooke, and it actually wound up being Brooke next to him! I just loved that.
And OMG the Naley scenes were too adorable. And tonight is totally a dream cause Nathan would NEVER cheat on Haley. There are no sure things on this show but that is one of them! haha.... can't wait to hear the next podcast, keep up the good work!

Brooke and Lucas have more than "sexual" chemistry as the first commenter seems to insinuate. Their chemistry oozes off the screen in the friendliest scenes, especially in season 2. It has nothing to do with what they are doing, or even how physically close they are-it's how they react to each other. They have timing, they ebb and they flow. They feed each other and bicker and bite and it's natural. When I watch LP on the screen, I don't see that. I see two people that are friends on and off set. They get along but they don't challenge each other. They don't change each other. They aren't fluid.
At least as I see it.

is it me or is it you ? ~i think it is you! i cannot get the podcast to opne on my computer. is anyone else having this prob?

I agree with you guys on a lot of the things you said. The comment about BL/CS having more chemistry was right on. I mean, no matter what happened in real life, it doesn't change the fact that they still have amazing chemistry together and that reflects on screen. Plus, their characters just seem more compatible because they aren't as freakishly twin-like as LP. The Mark comment really does piss me off, but then at the same time, I think it's just an excuse for him. I mean, he's always really loved P and the LP relationship and for some reason thinks that they epitomize love (there's a guy for you. lol) and so it's obvious that that's what he wants fans to believe... but it just isn't happening- there are a ton of us who see it differently and using CS's real life issues as an excuse doesn't run. I really wish Mark would come on here and see what the audience thinks and take that into account.
I wish you guys had touched a little more on the Brooke maturing thing. In those scenes, she was clearly still in love with Luke but recognized that this wasn't high school and decided to step aside once again. I'm partially happy for that, because I do think she deserves better, but at the same time, I can't help but route for BL.
The Ebola and kneeing-him comments were hilarious! I think Sophia's too mature for that but it'd be fun to see, lol.
Oh, and I don't think you guys were being disrespectful in any way. I think you guys really are pretty unbiased (and I'm not saying it as a BL fan) because there were comments like seeing the chemistry earlier etc that were in favor of LP and you didn't bash Mark for his comment either like the rest of us BLers.

S & J-
Well, that was a great podcast. And about the preview for tonight's episode...I'm getting the vibe from the movie "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle". That's what this show needs, yet another crazy character. Nathan and Haley have been through enough. Let them have peace.
Oh..and I'm having Mouth withdrawel...not. another haha
Now, the proposal scene between Lucas and Peyton I'm kind of on the fence about. They aren't the couple that I prefer on the show, but I can see how Peyton was right in doing what she did and Lucas as well. I think the thing with Lucas is that he was living with Naley, seeing their family together and wanting the exact same thing. And here you have Peyton who's trying to see if she'll survive in the music industry, breaking away from some of her Tree Hill roots. Lucas comes to LA with one thing on his mind. Peyton has another. Yeah...it was going to go downhill.
Now the Brooke and Lucas scenes I totally loved. :) You get to see two people who have been in a relationship together and still be friends who can talk with one another, be there for each other. The one thing I love is the maturity that we see in Brooke during the flashback scenes. She doesn't want to go back to the way she was in high school. She wants to move forward. And the one thing she told Lucas about how she buried herself in her clothing line after they broke up. Her advice for him to do the same was good advice. Go after your dream, fulfill it and then go back to Peyton and see. And after their kiss, you could really see that Brooke wasn't over Lucas. So what does she do...buries herself in the clothing line, moving forward with Victoria's idea. Hmmmmm....
Victoria is the female Dan. They should hook up and go bowling...in designer outfits.

I agree you are being disrespectful to Chad & Sophia with your comments. They have both moved on! You have no right talking about their personal lives - none of you do.
And you call yourself fans?
Posted by: Anonymous | February 5, 2008 4:17 PM
i agree with the girls. chad and sophia just share such a spark and a chemistry that chad and hilarie just never had. they play very well off of each other in friendly scenes but i dont feel an romantic chemistry between them whatsoever. when i watch chad and sophia its completely different and for mark not to act on that in the show is disrespectful to the fans. chad and sophia are both professionals and have as far as i can tell made it clear that they are fully willing to put their job before their personal issues so mark shouldnt put bl on the backburner b.c. of that . im sure it is difficult for chad/soph and i really do sympathize in the situation i love them and dont want to see people in a hard spot like that but if theyve made it clear that their job comes before themselves in this instance mark should take that and run. it's his duty as a writer to not disappoint the fans .
Posted by: anonymous | February 5, 2008 4:07 PM
I meant to add she found previous Lp scenes moving, she said it in the comments underneath just to clarify ;)
Posted by: Othfan | February 5, 2008 3:58 PM
Oh purlease ,whoever said the girls are blers or peyton haters or whatever are just saying that so then they can cushion the blow for themselves
Ever thought perhaps the girls say it for one and only reason that its true and its the opinion they have on the scenes,Jackie even said she found some Lp scenes "moving" which is the word that was used so to then say shes a lp hater is a little off the mark in my opinion because shes only giving her view.Plus kinda bad to insult them the way some have just cause they have a opinion
Anyway Sarah and Jackie what you said was completly true :)
Posted by: Othfan | February 5, 2008 3:52 PM
LMFAO. The TV Guide person who does the OTH reviews is a LP-fanboy/girl so that holds about as much credibility then if that's how you wanna roll.
Have you even listen to previous commentaries? They are clearly more unbiased than the OTH fandom for sure. And just because they think CS have more chemistry than CH ever will don't make them any less credible than Buddy TV, Tv Guide or whoever.
You just say so because clearly you don't agree but just because you don't don't mean others won't.
Clearly LP fans will never see anything wrong with LP as a couple. I mean you do defand a couple that every time they get together hurt other people or cheat. Yeah, they're totally meant to be because if you cheat you belong togther *rolleyes*.
Basic line there is nothing wrong with saying CS have more chemistry than CH even if you don't agree with it.
Abd Mark better fix the mess he made ... that is bring BL back together! Because the reason they are not is just because he wanna make CS not feel akward which is wrong for the dedicated fans of the fanbase after he built them up perfectly.
Posted by: KJ | February 5, 2008 3:48 PM
I can't believe the reason BL aren't together are because of Chad & Sophia! Mark even said when CS started dating if they broke up he couldn't change the show for them!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Sarah | February 5, 2008 3:43 PM
I doubt Sarah & Jackie, see what ever other reviewer sees (which what they say holds "zero" intelligence), Not TV Guide, Buddy, etc... At least they know what they are talking about. LET ME TELL YOU. THEY DO SEE THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN CH and that LUCAS & PEYTON are the "it couple (along with NH)". It always has been since Season 1.
(Which makes me believe either Sarah & Jackie are fanboy_lovers of Brooke and Hate Peyton or are Brucas Fans?)
Posted by: Anonymous | February 5, 2008 3:34 PM
I forget to say you basically summed up why Brooke&Lucas together make the show much more interesting and fun to watch with one sentence.
"fun, spicy, sassy, crazy" that's what's fun to watch and it works for TV.
Lucas&Brooke = suicidal TV. Who the hell wanna watch that for entertainment? They like the same music and shit but that's about as alike they'll get.
BL have the same HEARTS. They are both selfless people when together and just because they don't have the same interest and taste in things is what make them complete each other. That's what brings out interesting apects in a relatuiionship.
They can learn so much from each other and find out things that they never have been into because of the other person.
Posted by: KJ | February 5, 2008 3:24 PM
Sarah & Jackie - I totally agree with what you said! It's great to know that there are people who are not bias and can still see the off the chart chemistry between Chad and Sophia (BL). What happened, happened. There's no turning back and Mark should know better enough that it should not affect storylines AT ALL. These 2 are professionals and to deny us their talent when put together is just a waste.
BL definitely bring a whole new side to each other. As you said there is definitely more fun and "spice" to their relationship. It's something that cannot go away but only grow instead. Their chemistry in just 1 scene together is what got me to stick with this show.
Despite Mark's view, I am never losing hope for their couple and their selfless love.
Posted by: Lexi | February 5, 2008 3:18 PM
Lucas and Peyton have no chemistry?LMAO tell us something the world does not know,. No matter what people say about soulmates or whatever(which I dont believe they are) , we should still see chemisty with LP but theres absolutly nothing, theyre seriously flogging a dead horse with this Lp thing. No matter what couples are supposed to have chemistry and Lp have none which btw makes them even more ubelievably dull than they already are
anyway girls liked your comments on the podcast ,I said "hell yeah " a lot lol
Posted by: hahah so true | February 5, 2008 3:13 PM
Sarah & Jackie I couldn't agree more with what you said! It's nice to see that people who are coming from a neutral perspective can be honest about BL chemistry outweighing LP chemistry by a whole lot.
As someone who's been a loyal fan to the show, I was shocked and frankly bored with the way that BL were brushed under the carpet, and history rewritten in season 4. Lots of fans had become fans of the show because they had become invested in the characters, which seemed to all change last season purely to accomodate LP.
It was really disrespectful to act as though BL were just a passing fling and it had always been Peyton for Lucas. BL are the most real and touching love story I've ever seen on a show. Season 4 felt like a different show, and for the longest time I couldn't understand why. Now I hear that it's because of CS private life. It's nice to know that people could not be as deluded to push LP down our throats without a good cause.
CS just have a chemistry that's off the wall. That's the simple fact. They fit so well together, they really seem to draw better acting out of each other. Their scenes together always flow so beautifully. CS have amazing chemistry, CH don't.
I hope we have more BL on the way, because that's the only thing that keeps me interested in the show. Sorry to rant!
You girlies rock!!
Posted by: forblueskies89 | February 5, 2008 3:04 PM
It's not the CW girls who are disrespectful it is MARK. You did hear what he had told them? It's disrespectful to fans. I understand that its probably not the best to have to film romantic scenes with your ex-wife/husband and definitley since cheating was involved in real life. But Mark is not suppose to cater to real life and that might sound cruel but it's their WORK. Basically Mark don't wanna put CS together because of their real life situation which is NOT fair to BL fans who want Brooke and Lucas to reunite. I hope he can work around it because CS have the best chemistry ever on this show and he did build up BL more than he ever did with LP.

Hi Sarah and Jackie.
I wanna say thank you for this podcast. It's great having you girls opinions as you ain't biaised as we, fans, can be. You are totally right about Chad And Sophia and Brooke/Lucas in my opinion. If LP/CH had good chemistry it was at the beginning of the show but now their scenes are just not that good when it comes to love scenes. They are great as friends but CS/BL can't be beat. Their chemistry does it all. They can make the very smaller scene an awesome one just by playing together. And I think it kinda shows what direction the show should come. And about what Mark said about CS I just find it kinda hypocritical. Having Chad on one knee saying to Sophia I want us to be together forever is way worse than making out scenes imo. So now that he had them done that I think he can't say he doesnt want them on romantic scenes. And plus it's kinda stupid from him toward the BL fans. I'm a huge CS fan but I think if they can act a proposal like that, they can have romantic scenes...
I'm really glag you girls said what you tought and i'm happy to see BL fans aren't blind as some people think to believe. I'm glad you see the same thing as us about BL/LP.
So thanx a lot for this podcast and keep making them coming ;)

i am sssssssssoooooooooo angery now i dont believe we dont get BRUCAS because of Chad and Sophia
I do not care if this awkward or no they actors they need to do there job and to act !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i assume that Chad and Sophia are matures but clearly i was wrong
Posted by: heli | February 5, 2008 2:46 PM
Lucas and Peyton act like brother and sister! There is so much more dynamic and chemistry with Brooke and Lucas.
Sophia used to say that things were professional and obviously awkward on set before. Now, she says she's back to being Chad's friend just as much as everyone else's friend.
I really think the nanny scene is a Haley nightmare. But what I think is real is the "sometimes I pretend you're my kid" scene... which is pretty creepy. Can't wait!
Posted by: I agree | February 5, 2008 2:44 PM
Jackie, it was me who posted as "Anonymous" earlier...accidentally forgot to type my name. I didn't know you watched from the beginning, my bad. I see what you're saying, but honestly, the proposal scene was really moving to me. I haven't been brought to tears on OTH in a long time. I started watching this show at the end of season 2 and I was initially drawn to BL, but after going back and catching up on the history, I just couldn't help but root for LP.
Posted by: Erin | February 5, 2008 2:42 PM
I agree with the fist person to understand dynamic of LP relationship, you have to watch from the beginning. LP are more than Sexual content. They have that connection and have "Destined to be Together" Relationship, They are "Soulmates". CH do have Chemistry its, either you like it or don't (brucas lovers). Sophia and Chad have the sexual Chemistry because they have been married, but Chad and Hil are great friends, but as Lucas & Peyton they have that Love Chemistry and they do show it, or else I wouldn't love them. They look great together and are too cute.
Its not all about who have better Chemistry or who looks "sexy" together, its about which couple belong together and are the "soulmates" (which by the way the Cast & Crew agree on, its NH & LP as the couples "meant to be").
Posted by: Kris | February 5, 2008 2:40 PM
You girls were spot on about lp having no chemistry at all ,say more stuff like that and I may just love you forever ;)lmao .I really agree about brooke and Lucas having more chemistry plus their story for me has always been the real love story.Season4 sucked big time considering it was like they tried to rewrite things and not aknowledge Bl relationship
Im so glad were getting more BL scenes and their chemistry lights up the screen,Im a huge Bl fan and I hope they get back together .I know you both said mark said they shouldnt get romantic scenes or whatever because or real life but at the end of the day he gave them a proposal scene where lucas/chad went down on his knee which in my opinion would be the most hardest scenes ever to act out so if he can give us that then he can give us BL back. I mean seriously come on they belong together and this season proved even more why I cant stand Lucas and Peyton together and brooke proved herself to be way better than peyton on every level
Posted by: Julie | February 5, 2008 2:39 PM
Sarah & Jackie, I think you are being disrespectful to the Lucas & Peyton fans and to the Chad & Hilarie fans.
I also think you have no right to comment on anything to do with Chad & Sophia. I hope they don't hear this podcast.
I won't be tuning in again if this is what your podcasts are like.
Posted by: Eva | February 5, 2008 2:21 PM
Hey, anonymous, I actually have seen OTH from the very first episode -- it's Sarah who's just started watching this season. I see what you're saying, and I don't deny that the show wants LP to be together. Some of their scenes in the past have been very moving. But I just wasn't feeling it during the proposal scenes.
Posted by: Jackie | February 5, 2008 2:15 PM
You girls are so right about the Chad/Sophia chemistry Vs. the Chad/Hilarie one.. there isn't really a competition but CS win hands down. And I agree fully about what you said about LP and BL. LP are so fruckin' boring together while BL bring the fun to our screens. So it's a non-brainer which relationship is more fun to watch on screen, BRUCAS! I don't like the fact that because of what happened in real life BL fans might not have a big chance of getting BL back together because we all know they do belong together. But I still hope even if Mark doesnt want any romantic scenes between CS he can still work a BL reunion in the very end.
Posted by: KJ | February 5, 2008 2:00 PM
I think Peyton was right in saying "No, not right now." It was wrong of Lucas to just leave. Instead of staying and dealing with what they both want in life he up and left. I liked it that they cleared up some of the mystery behind Peyton and Lucas' breakup, but I really would of liked to of seen more of Nathan and Haley through college too. The last scene with Nathan and Haley was awesome.
Tonight's episode is going to be a little disturbing. I have to think that Haley walking in on Nathan and Nanny Carrie is a dream, but what leads up to that dream is scary.
BTW, I don't think it's the nanny job to help the child and father put their pants on.
Posted by: Anita | February 5, 2008 1:45 PM
Sarah and Jackie, I think you both would understand the dynamic of the LP relationship if you watched the show from the beginning. What they have goes beyond whether or not they look good together. I agree that Chad/Sophia have more sexual chemistry than Chad/Hilarie, but I don't really think that matters when it comes down to the couple who are the "soulmates" of the show, and that's obviously Lucas and Peyton.
