Supernatural: When Demons Attack

Wow, Supernatural has just been on fire these last few episodes! We're going to be foaming at the mouth until we get some new episodes in April. Well done, Kripke & Co.!

There were so many things to love in this episode. FBI agent Henriksen returns, and it looks like he's finally got the boys just where he wants them - on the way to supermax lockdown. Uh-oh. But things get a wee bit freaky when his boss comes in and starts shooting at the boys in their prison cell. The boss is possessed!

Henriksen doesn't believe it, of course - not until he gets possessed himself. Possessed Henriksen shoots the sheriff (and you know Dean can't control the snark after that), and the guy exorcizes him with the help of a crucifix dropped in the jail cell toilet to make holy water. Painful and humiliating!

Now Henriksen believes - but what to do? He's no dummy - he lets Sam and Dean out so they can fight off the demonic hordes. Wheee!

What follows is a tense standoff as our hardy band of demon fighters tries to hold off the forces of evil. Along with the boys and Henriksen, we've got the deputy and Nancy, a sweet little secretary whose desk holds a shrine to the virgin Mary. They're joined by Ruby, who tells them to get the Colt and start shooting. Yeah, about that...

Ruby has another plan - there's a spell she can use that will kill all demons within a square mile. That includes her. Dean is willing to let her make that sacrifice until Ruby tells him she's going to need Nancy's help - in that she needs to cut the girl's heart out of her chest.

Dean and Henriksen shoot down that plan, but it looks like Sam is considering it. It's all about the greater good, right? One life sacrificed so that a whole bunch of others may live?

Dean suggests they try something else. They lure all the possessed people into the police station, then barricade them in. They broadcast an exorcism over the loudspeaker. Finally - a solution where everyone lives!

Except... after the boys flee, an adorable little girl shows up at the station looking for them. Then her eyes flash milky white - she's Lilith, the new demon power who wants Sam's head. The station explodes, killing everyone in it. Ruby tells the guys that they should have followed her plan - that way, more people would have survived.

In fact, this episode left us feeling so warm and fuzzy (in an "Oh crap, the world is ending!" sort of way) that we pretty much blocked out the one seriously annoying bit. Want to know how Henriksen tracked the boys down? Because Bela set them up. Now she's off doing god-know-what with the Colt (although she claims she's not planning on selling it), while our boys have to fight without their most powerful weapon. Belaaaaaaaaaaaa!

I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lillith was sooo AWESOME!! I would go to the crossroads and sell my soul for new episodes!! LOL

i'm going NUTS!waiting for supernatural!COME BACK ALREADY!!!!!!!(whimper,whimper)please?
what can i say it's A GREAT SHOW!!!!!!!!!

I really don't care why Bella stole the colt from the boys. There was no excuse for ratting them out to the cops! Things could have turned out for the worst! I can't wait to see Bella die, I'm so tired of her antics. On a good note: This season has been the best, thus far! And I can't wait to see more!

I am hooked on Supernatural...everything a show needs rolled into one. I was an X Files fan for the first four seasons or so and am so happy that there is another show as good on TV again. It has been a while!

I must admit I am not really a Sam fan, although I think Jared is hilarious and possibly one of the nicest human beings alive! But he was amazing in Mystery Spot and for the first time really he broke my heart when he asked the Trickster to bring his brother back. Really well done episode.

I find it strange that the last two episodes were switched...I would have thought that Mystery Spot was a brilliant note to end on for a coupla months. But then I have to admit I am pro-Dean so perhaps the whole Lilith vs. Sam showdown is not as cliffhangery to me. In my defence, Dean is played by Jensen Ackles. Nuff said.

On a Jensen note, I thought the scene of Dean vs. Dean in Dream a Little Dream of me was perfection. I think Jensen is a brilliant actor and it was great to see him stretching himself again like the end of Season 2, which was off the scale. And although the Dean oneliners are great, I find the proportion of them vs. Dean actually speaking a bit much at the moment. Dean seems to be becoming a slight caricature of himself and cos I love him and the show I think that would be a shame. He and the show are so much more than that.

Which brings me to Jus in Bello. It was a great episode and Henrickson was great...massively annoying how everyone interesting keeps dying I have to say! But as amazing as Katie Cassidy was in the last scene of the witchcraft episode, she was equally unimpressive and dare I say in danger of caricaturing herself in this episode...she needs to get over her hair...the flipping around of which seemed to punctuate each oneliner...

I also found it interesting that most of the message boards were pro-Ruby and anti-Bella who to me switched roles this episode and Bella's ulterior motive for taking the gun (and what does MR stand for?) was really welcome...Ruby just seemed to be there to tell the guys they were idiots which has been the criticism of Bella's character on the message boards...although personally I like Bella I can see the irritation there... anyone who consistently mocks Sam and Dean is not going to win any fans...I thought initially that Bella was simply a copy of Gwen from Angel, but there seems to be more of a backstory after all...

The Lilith thing should be interesting though and Jared is getting better and better...or perhaps it is just that Sam is growing on me…Sera Gamble's story was good, although Mystery Spot was phenomenal! It was fascinating to watch the two of them play out the same lines differently. Acting masterclass …like the two ways Jensen delivered the line ‘I remember you were pretty whacked out yesterday’ and Jared going through the whole ‘like Groundhog Day’ conversation. Great.

And Dean is ...well Dean is Dean. Amazing character, and played brilliantly by Jensen (who also is hilarious and seems also to be one of the nicest human beings alive – plus with regards to being attractive is rather off the scale).

I guess if the script says shout/threaten/smirk rather than just 'say' there is not a lot an actor can do about that. I hope the writers/directors/Kripke allow Jensen and Dean to grow and not paint them into a corner with soundbites…Dean is someone we care about and ‘know’ as a person. He is too good to become two-dimensional and diluted to fit promos alone.

Bur thank you to all involved for this show. Am holding my breath until the end of April and the only reason I criticise is because I love it so much. I am crossing everything I have that we get a Season 4. Jensen, comedy, horror, emotion, action and brotherhood...Perfect.

This one was very good, although i'm a little disappointed they killed off Hendricksen. I loved his scenes with Dean. I thought he would have been a good friend in high places for them to have. Or maybe he would have made the transition into hunter himself.

Bela I still could do without, and i'm finding it hard to care why she stole the colt. I'm just hoping after she turned them in, that they're not going to play nice with her anymore.

I still don't mind Ruby, although I agree with immie8 in the fact that KC needs to step it up a bit. I'm not getting menancing demon, and most of her anger scenes still fall a little flat with me.

I loved the fight inside the jail cell, and the mass exorcism. And the idea of Lillith possessing a child was an interesting twist.

This episode would have been perfect had they not killed off Hendricksen, had KC been able to step up (really, that redhead in the crowd who didn't say a word had more screen presence than KC did...she just is not able to convince me that she's a strong demon - even if she is scared of Lilith, have some power and/or presence - she does vulnerable quite well, I'll give her that but if she can't do strength then she's never going to be a convincing demon to me), and had they not made it SO obvious what the plans for Bela's character were. (And I'm really hoping they've scrapped said plans.)

Besides those things, this episode was great. I loved the whole mass exorcism, and I loved the Dean/Hendricksen interaction. (I'm going to miss that SO MUCH!!!) I think they killed him off way too soon. It's not that I'd want him to stick around forever, but Hendricksen could have helped Sam and Dean track down Bela, or if information about Mary's past becomes necessary, but hard to dig up, I'm sure Hendricksen could probably call in a few favours to try and get into some of the harder to hack databases. They should have let him stay and help they boys out a bit, let him and the boys (and us) get closer and develop a stronger relationship, that way when they do kill him off the emotional blow will be even harder.

I loved the dispute between Sam and Dean...these two really do anchor each other, and I dread to think of what things will be like as the clock really starts to run out. Ruby continues to surprise and intrigue me. I thought for certain that she'd stick around, but once again, she surprises by showing (what I think is) her true nature. She's not going to back someone who she thinks is going to lose; it seems that she's willing to make sacrifices for who she thinks the winner will be, but only if she deems you to be the winner. And her coming back at the end to try and convince Dean and, more importantly to her, Sam, that her way of thinking is the "right" way for war time, was brilliant. She really is pushing Sam to be that killing machine we saw in Mystery Spot. As for Lilith being a child, I wonder if they'll continue with that. Lore has it that Lilith targets infants and children, so it is possible that she'd choose to possess a child, but they'd need to find one heck of a great child actor to make it convincing...though that child last night wasn't half bad (for the minute that she was on, going from cute to dangerous like that...something that I wish KC was capable of).

It's actual really smart of Lilith to posses a little girl. As long as Sam and Dean have consciences, they will have problems shooting down a nine-year-old, even to save humanity for a demonic apocalypse. And, honestly, who would suspect as sweet little girl?

that awesome line (with the big grin) was hilarious! 3 days later and i'm still laughing

i really liked this episode - it had a lot of everything and a lot of really good twists i didn't see coming

i got sick of the long speeches about Dean dying and the endless parade of women but Lilith looks very promising - she's a big bad in legends and with her white eyes she looks to be a whole 'nother level of badness - and this show never disappoints

man this is really heating up!

One hell of a show this shows that this is going to be one hell of a season

I think it is kind of weird that Lilith is a little girl. In most legends, she is Samael's lover.

Loved the ep so much but I am still relatively incoherent about it.

Oh please please make them bring back the self sacrificing virgin. I love a good cliché. They should have totally named her character Joan of Arc.

I loved the episode cant wait for more.
