I love that you are going back and doing podcasts for the first season, but I could not believe it when you said that you haven't seen these episodes in four years. I also couldn't believe how many facts you've forgotten over the years. You discussed Mouth and his little commentary scenes and didn't remember that he had his own website RAVENHOOPS.com. Also, you didn't remember that Peyton was a cheerleader because she wanted to have something that her mother had.

I luv the the OTH show . I couldnt wait for the april 14 come back . I am really hoping that peyton and lucas get together because i feel despite how they got together . They belong together. They have that LOVE that you wish for . I really want them together . Love the show

I agree. In the pilot, I think most of us liked Leyton... BUUUUUUUUT just wait until Brucas comes along! I bet most of you won't write Brucas off as easily as you would have before once you see them! They grew on each other and truly fell in love!

I have to say that at first I sorta of thought Haley was into Lucas too, but Lucas was all about Peyton. Haha ohh God can't imagine that happening at all. I thought Nathan was suck a prick and Peyton was a bitch, kinda thought they deserved each other. But honestly that has to be one of the worst relationships in OTH history.

I love Karen and Keith and Whitey. Dan is sooo evil but you love to hate him.

I agree that Lucas is the same, but as someone said in an earlier post, he really gets stripped down this season. He hasn't been the same from the pilot to now. He hits bottom and has to build himself back up, just wait and see.

I can't wait to hear your reactions to Brooke, especially since all Mia and Sarah know of her is what she is like in season 5. You girls were probably completely shocked by her right? I hated her at first but no worries 1x08 you'll get to see the real Brooke, thats when I started to really like her. And I can't wait for Deb, i really miss her, she cracks me up. And of course Jake, ohh man I miss BG sooo much. I really need him back on the show like NOW!!!

Can't wait to hear the rest of the flashback podcasts along with the news ones starting next week! (wow that was a fast 4 weeks) And i really hope you do this over the summer, and are able to watch all seasons 1-4. Especially season 3, since that is the best one!

Well, I finally had the time to listen to your podcast. This was the episode that got me hooked. It was my replacement guilty pleasure when Dawson's Creek ended (so sad when it did).

Lucas definately has not changed much. Still brooding, still blonde, still got that squint.

I really didn't like Nathan's character in the beginning, but then he kind of grew on me. I couldn't believe what a d*** he was, but then you meet Dan and you see why. But I love me some Dan. Danny Boy, Danny Boy.

I miss Keith. I have always been a fan of Craig's (since Some Kind of Wonderful). Watching him in Seasons 1-3 just brings back memories of the good ol' days. And seeing Moira Kelly..made me want to watch "The Cutting Edge". And Whitey...bring on "Northern Exposure". :)

Haley truly has evolved from the first episode. I remember that when she gave Lucas the book in the beginning I was thinking, "Oh no, this is gonna be like Dawson and Joey from DC Season 1 (didn't ship them - Pacey/Joey shipper!)...but then right after that thought left my head, Haley makes the comment about Dawson and Joey. I started laughing so hard.

Can't wait to hear your reaction to the introduction of Brooke. That's another person who has truly evolved since Season 1. Then when you get to see her and Lucas interact...so great.

I will say that initially, I was a shipper of Leyton in Season 1. I really thought that them being together would be something spectuacular. But when I saw Brooke and Lucas together...yeah, that changed and after that, I was all about the Brucas. :)

You know, it's crazy to think this now and I totally forgot about it until you guys brought it up, but me and my friends thought they were trying to set up Luke and Haley in the beginning also. We were naturally thinking they were a bit Dawson-Joey-ish.

However none of us really thought him and Peyton were destined to be because even though the show sorta was setting them up to be together, they didn't do a very good job at following through with it until midseason in season 4. Plus, Lucas was sorta yearning for what Nathan had and one of those things just happened to be Peyton at the time which didn't equate to true love in my book. I still find it hard to digest any other reason for him wanting Peyton because their first meeting and subsequently each one following it, didn't go too well. But apparently he has a thing for angsty ice-queens =(

You find out later why Peyton is a cheerleader...and it has nothing to do with Nathan.

hey I missed your podcasts. So glad you guys came back early. I'm also glad tha5 you decided to watch season 1. I think it's amazing to see how far everyone has come. Everyone seems so young comepared to season 5. James Lafferty I think was 17 or 18 while filming season 1. I think Brooke's debut is in 1x03 along with Deb. I totally agree with you guys saying that Skills is like the voice of reason he just sticks out while saying those persuasive lines. funny enough I started atching season 2 because I saw it on tv over here so I thought "what the hey" I hope you guys watch a lot of season 1 before going back to season5 because I wanna hear your thoughts and opinions on the earlier eps. btw I completely agree with you guys Whitey is "infinately quoteable" Haley for me has made a big change by the way she acts to her hair style. I burst out laughing when you described lucas' hair as a "badger" hehe can't wait till the next podcast

I really enjoyed your podcast. It is interesting to see how other people view it. I just had to give my two cents concerning Lucas... I think what you were all talking about (how he hasn't changed) is partly true... In my opinion Lucas was already a standout character from the beginning he was looked at as the "good" brother and he always did the right thing... but I think as you guys watch the first season you will see how he is stripped of that role because he makes a few mistakes... Lucas has had to rebuild and decide what kind of person he really wants to be throughout the rest of the seasons. Which of course accounts for why you all thought he hasn't changed that much from just watching the pilot...
P.S. I hope you guys don't write Peyton off as just another bitch... watch and you will see all the reasons why she is my favorite charcter.

I think, it's great that you guys are watch S1. Which was the Best season. You finally get to see what LP fans are talking about, and where their connection comes from and how strong it is.

Finally you get the reason behind our comments about the nature of the LP love story being destined from the very beginning. Thank you for that acknowledgement.
It is kind of weird listening to your comments and questions as to why the characters do this or that when we already know.
I think you'll be surprised by Brooke's behavior in the first season. She's changed a lot from season 1 (I hated her at first).

Haley hasn't come into her own yet, but, how in the world do you get any hints of a Haley/Lucas romance?!

I love the adults, im not saying the show was better w/them on it, but it had a different mood that was better i think, i dunno. I really love Karen when she goes all crazy-bitch on dan... it makes me soo happy. Same with Whitey.

I think "The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most" is one of the best eps of OTH. I hope yall podcast on it. You really learn where the LP connection comes from and where the "Your art matters" quote originated.

That was awesome! I love how you guys noticed that Nathan was so scrawny. He has grown into a man before our eyes! And you're right, Lucas hasn't changed a bit. But Haley! Haley is a completely different person. Well, the same but stronger. And Peyton as a cheerleader..I was confused on that too but you'll see soon why she's doing it.
I haven't gone back to watch the first seasons since the first time so this is great stuff. Keep 'em coming.

I'm really happy you guys are going back and watching the show from the beginning. As you can see, these characters have come a long way and there's of back story there that got them to where they are now that you've missed. I agree though, Lucas is still the same, kinda annoying brooder.

Brooke is in the next episode and boy will it be a shock to see her. I'm pretty sure she wasn't supposed to have a very substantial role on the show but seeing as how popular her character got, they gave her more scope...? I think I read that somewhere, idk... Don't be too scared when you first see her because basically after her first episode, her soft side comes out.

You guys are gonna watch more than just the first season right? As a Brucaser I really want to know what your reactions are to seasons 2 and 3 because then you'll really get an insight into a relationship that you guys have only really heard of through fan and never really experienced because it's been completely wiped out in season 5.

You'll also get to see how on the surface, Brucas is sorta Naley in reverse... and how Brooke has the kindest heart out of the bunch for still being there for her backstabbing friends... and how Peyton and at times Lucas are pretty selfish... OH, and you'll get to meet Jake! At least that's how I think you'll see it, lol. Can't wait to hear what you guys have to say as you get into the later seasons!

Just a comment - I think the "Places You Have Come to Fear the Most" title relates to Lucas playing in front of a everyone in the gym with his new team. Even though it's the same sport and he still loves it, it's a whole different ballgame (haha, literally) for him being a part of the team.

hey girls i think your show is great!... i love the throw back to the pilot ... i cant wait till the new episode i think it going to be good because if you think back to the being of season 4 after brooke broke up with luces he was all i want her back but then said forget and got with peyton so i think that will happen again i have a question is it really the last season i hope not i really love this show after the oc ended oth is like my last fav show i cant take another heart break!!

I hope you got through a lot of Season 1 so you can quickly head on over to Season 2. Season 2 was the season that made OTH what it is, in my opinion at least.

OH MY GOODNESS!! Thanks so much for first off, watching the episode and second putting up a podcast for it. It's great that everyone is getting caught up with all the story lines and relationships. It was totally worth whatever time I spent listening, you ladies are really funny. I love hearing other people's thoughts on the characters. Personally, I miss Haley's quirkiness. It set her apart. I also miss the edges Nathan and Peyton used to have. They're big old softies now ... except for maybe Nathan's temper and that stare Peyton gives. Next episode we do see Brooke and oh my goodness just remembering what Brooke used to be like and thinking of what you ladies could possibly say about her is making me smile. I totally agree how Lucas hasn't changed at all. Him and maybe Skills really haven't changed. This is really helping with my OTH withdrawal. Can't wait for your next podcast and the next new OTH episode!!
