One Tree Hill Podcast: The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most

We're podcasting our way through Season One of One Tree Hill to get through the last week without new episodes! Earlier this week, we podcasted the pilot, and today we've got a podcast from episode 1.02, "The Places You Have Come to Fear The Most."

Lucas

In this podcast, we discuss Peyton's shoddy treatment of Lucas, the introduction of Brooke and Jake (yay!), and the Nathan/Lucas classroom fight, unintentionally prompted by perhaps the world's worst teacher. Get out your DVD and watch along with us -- then listen to the One Tree Hill podcast for "The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most!"

Ok, I love listening to what you have to say and for the most part you are all on target. However, I think you guys are putting down Peyton too much. It was mentioned that Brooke is fun and what not. Well I think the heart of this show is when the characters grow and change and Peyton is no exception. I think you need to give her (and her relationship with Lucas) a chance before you write her off as just a bitch. Let go of her mean ways because she just might surprise you.

Thanks again for podcasting old episodes! :)

I think it was Jackie but Jackie you are louder than all the girls talking in the podcast. I think u are closer to the mic than the rest. Make sure to put mics close to each of the girls talking. Its distracting with the constant change of volume. PLEASE fix this. Thank you.

About the podcast, what u need to realize with the whole Leyton relationship from the start is how even though Peyton was mean to Lucas, it was because she doesnt like to let people in. She hardly lets Nathan in. And when Lucas tries to get inside of her mind and personality, she freaks which u will see in a later episode. He's intrigued by her. He knows that she is a "broken soul" and knows that she deserves better. And he loves her artwork and that just gets him to want to look deeper into her mind.

Where the heck is Whitey in Season 5?! I miss him! I hope they have a recap of him or explanation about him. He was an amazing character from the start.

I miss Jake. He was such an amazing character as well. Pretty soon u will all come to love the Jake and Peyton relationship.

And its true about what you said in regards to Lucas never changing while everyone else is a completely different person in Season 5 in comparison to Season 1. I think Mark did that on purpose though. Lucas was always going to be the *Main* character of the show. The show is based on him, his experiences, the people he knows, etc. So even though people change, they still needed to have at least one character that everyone can always rely on to be the same u know? Dan has his up and down moments. He has not been evil 24/7. He has his moments. But Lucas, as much as he's grown and matured, he still is the same character.

Great job on the podcasts. Keep watching those episodes quick so you can catch up with us! You should do an episode a day and a podcast a day for previous seasons or something. Or even just mix a few episodes together in 1 podcast because you have a long way ahead of you. Not sure if u will be able to do them all.

When is the antwon tanner interview coming?? it looked like a fun interview.

I am LOVING your podcasts. I haven't had time to comment but I listen to your podcasts as soon as they are released on itunes:)and I have watched the episode myself. Almost every time you guys say exactly what I was thinking or bring up stuff I never thought about but still totally agree with. I am SO happy you decided to watch the earlier seasons. It makes you love OTH so much more. And this is coming from a person who started watching OTH when season 4 started. I loved it as I was watching it but when I went back and watched the earlier seasons I became obsessed I love it so much. :)

Totally laughed out loud again while listening to this. It just really is hilarious listening to some of the things you ladies say. I agree Peyton is pretty exaggerated as the tortured artist and that the teacher totally sucked. Question now ... are we gonna be getting 3 podcasts next week? As in the brand spankin new one as well as two season one podcasts because I would love that!!

Can't wait for you to see more episodes and your reactions to certain things :}

I actually hated Brooke in season one so I'd like to see how you react to some of the things she does.
Mostly just being a tad ignorant and kind of self absorbed. You might pick up on it later.

Anyway, hope you post your next podcast soon. I'm off to watch 1x03, I can't even remember what it's about.

The Dawson's Creek references were to all this buzz about OTH that is was going to be the next Dawson's Creek because it was filmed in Wilmington and it was coming right after Dawson's Creek ended and it had all these kids and relationships and that sort of stuff. I took them (first watching it when they premiered and then watching the eps again later) that they were kind of almost poking fun at that, just putting in a little jab or an aside or something.

i totally agree with you about peyton being so mean to lucas. and when he was looking at her sketches at the garage... why was peyton even there? random.

i love your podcasts and i have my itunes constantly refreshing so i can get them right away. basically they help me get through my oth withdrawals =]

While I agree that OTH was ultra-angsty at the start: Nathan and Dan (and Peyton) - Lucas and Nathan and Dan (and Peyton) - Peyton and no Dad at home and Nathan (and Lucas) - Karen and Dan and Keith...the mind boggles! that's the way it was intended! Mark said that's why he brought Brooke in as Peyton's best friend to lighten things up a little bit (Although, she has some horribly mean moments in S1). The BP friendship is a big part of the show. Also Haley is fun in a quirky way, too.
While Peyton and Nathan are not the nicest characters here, you'll find out why (they both have mitigating circumstances LOL).
I also don't think you got that Lucas and Peyton shared some emotionally revealing words that weren't confrontational as well. You begin to see that they are a lot alike.
The drama is what makes OTH what it is. When you say, "I wanted to see more Brooke" because she's the "fun girl", it sounds like you don't like the show.

hey loved this podcast. I just finished listening to it and watching 1x02 just now. Mia I gotta say that I didn't notice Haley's Dawson's Creek reference this episode. I knew that Chad, Hilarie, Lee (Mouth) and Brett (Tim) were all in it at different times but I didn't think they would add a reference on OTH. I agree with ya on how Dan is living vicariously through Nathan But Nathan is starting to stick up to Dan I think that's why he said "no wonder mum extends her business trips" or something close to that. Sarah I agree with you on how Peyton was being a b***h to Lucas I don't think he deserves to be treated that way I mean sure he went through her sketch book thingy which he probably shouldn't have done. lol Funny enough they started showing random eps over here in the UK and it was 1x03 today very weird. Hope you guys come back before the season 5 continuation I enjoy listening to your podcasts. can't wait till next one
