Reaper: Charm the Devil

Reaper puts on a charm offensive this week, as a particularly personable soul manages to keep slipping out of Hell. Sam has to keep catching him, but the fact that he's free to mosey out of the Pit with impunity is enough to set the Devil's teeth on edge. But that soul plot is nothing to one major possible revelation: Is Sam the son of Satan?

Our soul of the week is Mike, a charming not-quite-Devil who enjoys dallying with the fairer sex. At first, Sam sees him as rather harmless - he's just having a good time! - until the Devil shows him what Mike really does. The seduction is fun for him, but it's the aftermath, full of broken marriages, destroyed lives, and quite a few crime-of-passion corpses, that really makes him happy.

Luckily, Mike doesn't seem to be that difficult to catch. Keeping him, however, is another problem. The guys figure out that Gladys is waylaying the vessel before Mike can get sent back to Hell. She's tired of being alone, and Mike is happy to use that loneliness to his advantage. When the guys track him down at Gladys' house. Mike makes his escape by threatening - and then killing! - Gladys. Oh no!

Fortunately, demons can't be killed with puny human weapons, as Tony reveals. But she's still in trouble - when the Devil finds out Gladys was helping Mike, he transfers her back to the home office - via a monstrous hellworm that swallows her up. That's not good. Sam can't let that stand, and he tries to convince the Devil that showing mercy to Gladys would help him with labor relations down in Hell. The argument doesn't work, but Sam's doe-eyed "please?" does. Hey, is Satan getting soft on Sam?

Tony and his demonic friends think they may know why: Sam gives Tony his contract, and Tony's demonic auditor friend notices that every single page has references to Sam's dad. Couple that with the Devil's unusually close relationship with Sam, and things start looking suspicious. Maybe Sam isn't who he think he is...

When Gladys gets back from Hell, she gives Sam the tip on where to find Mike (seducing brides on their wedding day), and Sam is finally able to catch him for good. This time, we doubt Gladys will be helping him get out of Hell free.

In other news, Ben and Sarah get called before immigration, and their attempt to con the system fails miserably. Josie tells Ben he can pay a fine and get out of going to jail, but Sarah is toast. Sarah has another idea - the Immigration bureaucrat let it be known that he could "lose" the paperwork for a monetary gift. Ben gives Sarah the money that would have gone to his fine, and Sarah... well, Sarah takes off with it. Sarah is not a nice person! On the upside, we get to see Ben plastered out of his mind, running through the streets shirtless on his last weekend of freedom. In the end, he decides to serve out his (eight-day) sentence like a man. Good luck, Ben!

What do you think? Were you shocked by the news of Sam's potential parentage? Talk about it in the comments!
