90210 Recap: "The Bubble"

Dixon Wilson

Oh, the drama! This week's episode of 90210 was even better than a very special episode of Maury! Kelly's baby daddy is revealed! But first... poor Naomi is trying to deal with her sham of a family and is trying to reach out to the people she trusts, including Ethan. Speaking of Ethan, he has taken an interest in Annie (or perhaps his feelings never went away from two summers ago). Annie is obviously still into Ethan, but she's just asking for trouble. Dating your new friend's recent ex-boyfriend doesn't make for happy times. Besides, Ty is still into her, and he's super cute. Does anyone else think he looks like a mixture of Chace Crawford, Tom Welling and James Marsden?

Dixon is having some money problems after hitting another student's car. Thank goodness the Peach Pit is hiring and Nat has a soft spot for kids who have just transfered to West Beverly from the midwest. It seems as though his new job plus school work and lacrosse is too much to handle.

Finally we get more of Grandma and she doesn't disappoint (unless of course she's your own grandma). The elder Mrs. Wilson is using her acting experience to fill in as director of Spring Awakening. Her breathing exercises and talk of sleeping with past directors is making Annie a bit uncomfortable so she pleads with her dad to find a replacement. Luckily superstar actress, Brenda Walsh, is available to lend a helping hand.

Naomi comes to Silver with her nostrils flared and begs her not to blog about her father's affair. Silver, rightfully so, asks aloud why she should do Naomi any favors after her supposed best friend told everyone about Silver's father's affair a few years ago. Dixon's words of wisdom about life being too short for grudges comes at a good time. She tells Naomi she won't blog about the affair. Points for Silver, but Naomi gives her some serious bitchy attitude. She can use some friends right now -- why push Silver away?

Speaking of Silver being top-notch, she warns Annie about going after Ethan. Of course, Annie thinks she's got this one under control. Silver has seen the "Naomi-Ethan bubble" before and it never turns out well. We can see why - Naomi and Ethan can lean on each other with all of their family problems. Ethan ends up standing Annie up because he's having problems controlling his mentally challenged brother. Naomi comes over to talk about her own issues and is able to make Ethan's situation better. Ethan then takes Annie to confront his father's mistress. Surprise surprise, she's moving to Beverly Hills. Not just anywhere in Beverly Hills, to Naomi's family beach house. That's convenient for an affair but a bit awkward for family vacations, especially since Mr. Clark has been lying to his wife about just how serious the affair is.

Back in the teacher's lounge, Ryan is trying to get close to Kelly, but her guard is up. Brenda tells Ryan not to come to her to get answers but Kelly isn't so forthcoming either. Brenda confronts Kelly about her feelings for (drum roll please.....) Dylan. Sammy's baby daddy is the heavily side-burned Dylan McCay which isn't all that surprising, except that the kid looks just like Steve Sanders! We're crossing our fingers that Dylan makes it back to 90210 with quickness.

When all is said and done, Annie apologizes to Ty with snickerdoodles. He tries to blow her off but she pulls him in for a kiss and all is forgiven. Naomi asks Ethan if he thinks they can try to go back to the good old days when they both wore ridiculous hats from the zoo and ate cotton candy. They sealed it with a kiss, so we guess they're back together. The bubble remains intact.

What we loved:

*Kelly and Brenda at the Peach Pit talking about the infamous "Donna Martin Graduates" episode. Apparently Donna has a very cute baby... we wonder if she and David have kept things together.

*Grandma Wilson's over-the-top antics. We would totally love to see her in Spring Awakening. She did the right thing by backing out of the directing position but we're sure it would've been super.

*Dixon and Silver's budding relationship. They're both outsiders on different levels but work so well together. We think they'd be a cute couple too!

What we hated:

*Poor Naomi! How does her mom expect her to act like everything is normal in their family after finding out about the affair? On top of all this, now she realizes her dad is ditching her to go get his freak on with some tart! After her mom finds out about the mistress moving into the beach house, it's a whole new ball game and the tables should be turning soon.

*Even though we feel badly for Naomi, we can't stand the way she treats Silver, especially when Naomi's the one who betrayed her friend's trust in the first place.

What did you think of last night's episode? Were you surprised to hear who Sammy's father is? Let us know in the comments!
