One Tree Hill: Violence and Brooding
Last night's One Tree Hill makes a third episode ending in violence this season, and it's the second time someone has died during the series from a Dan-inflicted gunshot. But that Nanny Carrie certainly is resilient! We thought she was dead the first time Dan shot her, but she survived to taunt him one last time before he finally finished her off.

The Nanny Carrie/Jamie/Haley/Dan/Deb plot was the bloodiest of the night, but other plotlines had us equally intrigued. Most of the Tree Hill gang spent the episode apart -- let's catch up on what everyone was up to:
What's up with Lucas? He's going to NYC for a meeting... with Lindsey. And he hasn't told her about him and Peyton yet. Uh oh. When he arrives, he wants to tell Lindsey the news, but she cuts him off -- she wants to avoid awkwardness. She shows Lucas the cover of his new book, The Comet, and he's blown away.
The publishing company wants to send Lucas on a major book tour, but one of the dates conflicts with something big... his and Peyton's wedding. Lucas finally tells Lindsey why he has to change the date, and she doesn't take the news well. Emotional and teary, she tells him she wishes he had just called instead of coming to her office.
What's up with Peyton? She's excited because she's set a date for her and Lucas's wedding. She heads to Brooke's store to get a dress, and Brooke is in a terrible mood. Peyton calls her out on it, and Brooke apologizes -- she's had a rough time with Victoria. Peyton's SO happy -- life is going great! But she finally notices that Brooke's maybe not so happy and asks what's up. Brooke won't say anything, though.
Later, Peyton hangs out with Mick Wolf in the studio. He shares more stories about knowing Ellie, and she's intrigued. They bond over their shared love of music. Peyton asks Mick to come over to meet Lucas and tell her all about her dad, but he tells her to be careful what she wishes for. She still wants to know, so he agrees to come over.
Peyton calls Lucas in tears, convinced that Mick is her dad. She just knows. Lucas questions it, but she's sure.
What's up with Haley? She gets a weird phone call from someone who wants to meet with her -- the person claims to be in the hospice industry. But it's really Nanny Carrie trying out a faux British accent. Haley's not sure how to handle the situation, especially when Jamie asks to say goodbye to Grandpa Dan. She finally agrees that they should go to Dan.
What's up with Nathan? He gets a call from the NBA, and they want to meet with him! The family is thrilled. He flies to meet with a coach and check out the training area... only to discover that they want him to coach, not play. Ouch! Nathan's stunned. He argues that he can still play, but the NBA rep wants a coach.
What's up with Brooke? She's got a lot on her plate -- Victoria is taking back the company and the store, just as Brooke's dealing with shoplifter Sam. Later, in therapy, Brooke tells her doctor that she was a little jealous of Sam's devil-may-care attitude. When the therapist asks Brooke if she regrets giving up the company, Brooke hesitates.
What's up with Nanny Carrie? She's digging a giant grave... for Dan. Her evil plans are coming to fruition -- she's planning to kill Dan today and get Jamie back.
What's up with Dan? Like the last few episodes, he's stuck sitting in bed while Nanny Carrie taunts him with her evil plans.
How does it all wrap up? Peyton lights candles and puts on music like she's waiting for a date... but she gets stood up. Looks like talking to his possible daughter is too much for Mick; he's spending the night at a bar instead. And Lucas is still in NYC. Peyton spends the night alone and ends up blowing out the candles sadly.
Lucas finds Lindsey in a nearby bar, and they make amends. She tells him she always supported the couple in his book -- and it seems like now she realizes that couple was and always has been Lucas and Peyton. She gives Lucas a copy of his new book, and after he leaves, he sees that she's written a nice message in there for him. Looks like these two are ready to start a new chapter (yes, we went there) in their lives.
After the initial shock, Nathan talks more with the NBA rep about coaching. He seems to be considering it, but he says he needs to talk with his family first. The rep agrees and tells him he can have a few days to think it over.
Brooke's therapist observes that she's been so focused on work, but when she cites her friends' successes, she always refers to their relationships with loved ones. Is it possible Brooke needs to work on her own relationships a little more so she doesn't always go through life alone? She also suggests Brooke work on starting over with a new business venture now that Clothes over Bros is no more.
Later, Brooke's at a diner and about to pay her bill when she finds out it's been covered -- Shoplifter Sam got it for her. The two have an almost-bonding moment, but it's ruined when Sam complains that her mom is waiting up for her, worried, and Brooke tells her it's not such a bad thing to have a mom who worries.
Brooke's sitting alone in her store when someone enters... it's Millicent! She's interested in working for Brooke's new business venture, but more importantly, she's there for Brooke during a really tough time of transition. Brooke seems so happy to have a friend she can count on.
Haley takes Jamie to see Dan and tells him to wait in the car (why!?). But when Haley gets inside and sees Dan's dire situation, Nanny Carrie knocks her out and then goes out to the car in pursuit of Jamie. While she's hunting for an ax to break the windows, Jamie makes a quick getaway. Carrie chases him through a mazelike cornfield.
Haley comes to and finds Jamie, but her ringing cell phone gives away their location, and Carrie chases them again. They're running just ahead of her, when all of a sudden Carrie's knocked out... by none other than Deb! She used a bottle of champagne she'd been saving (for when Dan was finally off her hands) to knock out the nanny. Dan emerges, bloody and shaken, and they're talking with Haley when Carrie comes to and lunges for Haley and Deb with the ax. Dan shoots her. We thought she was dead, but she comes to once again during the episode's final moments. Dan reminds her what he told her about coming near his family, and he raises the gun again and shoots. This time, Dan really does seem to kill her.
What did you think of the episode? Did you like the Nanny Carrie plot? What do you think about Brooke's next steps? Should Nathan coach or hold out so he can play? What about the return of Lindsey? Tell us everything in the comments!

I miss the old oth but i think that now that the carrie drama is over and brooke is gonna tell peyton that the characters will become closer like they were in previous seasons.
so glad carrie is dead. that story line should have ended in season five.

So much happening in every episode now. You asked why Haley would tell Jamie to wait in the car? Aside from wanting them separated for the purposes of the storytelling ... I would say that, as a mom, she would want a chance to go in and see what the place looked like and how Dan was really doing BEFORE bringing her son inside. This way, she'd have a chance to prepare him for what he was about to see. Normally you wouldn't just leave your child in the car alone (although she did tell him to lock the doors), but this wasn't IN the city so you'd be thinking less chance of something bad happening (ha ha ha) etc.
I actually question the 2nd time that Dan shot Nanny Carrie ... it seemed SO overly done that it could be more like a dream/nightmare sequence. May not be how they intended it, but that was how it felt to me.

I was listening to you guys on podcast, but why do you guys always feel the need to bring up BL lack there of Comforting if you watch S4 you'll know that it was a WTF moment on that friendship in S5 second half was. They made them BFF's just for the Cliffhanger to be more justifying, which it wasn't just made it more stupid. So to us for them not having a scene is nothing new because Mark comes up with these friendship for Storylines propose.
IDK, It gets tiring hearing about it every Podcast watching the pervious season would help you guys know why things don't happen on OTH.
Anyways, on to the Episode it was okay, I like some of it and didn't most part of it.
About the Lucas not into the wedding he is, he was hesitant or afraid to tell Peyton that he didn't tell Lindsey about them, that was the only the reason why it came out that way. He doesn't lie to Peyton. So that's why it came out that way.

wow fantastic. so much drama and power and it was really dramatic. i was very scared and exited. i cant believe 2 people are dead within the first 6 eps! loved haley and poor jamie runnin! omg LOV deb, glad she figured it out and the bottle scene was insane. yer..nate...i just dont think he should coach. hes not the same without actually playing. still think mick is NOT peytons dad - its way to obvious and random that he would have a kid and not want to see them -as if shes related to someone extremly famous! glad millie is back! also i like how they are able to use lindsay and sam's characters very sparingly otherwise it would detract from other stories - really think the foundation from season 5 helped. also VERY happy about non-leyton wedding yet b/c again it needs to happen in a more dull time, like without brooke drama and creativly it gives brucas fans something to hold on too. this season is sooooooooo gr8! basically i love s6 s5 is crap in comparison, and nxt week looks rockin!! xoxo love u guys for postin stuff..you are what keeps me sane through the week
p.s. LOVIN HALEY EVERY WEEK

I miss the old One Tree Hill. When the storylines were solid. No craziness. No crazies. No psychos. Just strong storylines. When history matters and isn't trying to be forgotten.
This episode was not the best of the season. Not the best of the series. I'm thankful that Carrie is gone. Thankful that the storyline is over and done with.
The one storyline that has kept me grounded to continue watching is Brooke's storyline. It's something fans of her character has been waiting for and Sophia is doing an excellent job. I'm also finding my inner Naley. I've always enjoyed them, but lately the enjoyment has grown. And that's pretty much all I've come to look forward to. The rest...I'm just whatever.
It seemed like One Tree Hill was heading back on track in Season 5, but a u-turn has been made and it's going in a direction that just makes me wonder why I'm still watching. I know the main reason..I've watched since the beginning and I want to finish it out. I'm just not as excited about new episodes as I used to be.

I loved this episode, Carrie is finally gone, I think that they did a little overkill in the end but I'm glad that Dan had the satisfaction to kill that crazy biatch. I did want to see Haley kick her but, it's okay though.
Nathan should definitely hold out for the chance to play, he's worked too hard to just coach.
Brooke is stronger than she gives herself credit for, I love that Millicent came back and not so bothered that she's closer to Brooke than Peyton, Yeah Peyton and Haley were there in the beginning but Millicent was there during the most crucial part of her getting c over b together.
Peyton, I actually feel bad for her over her dad.
Lucas should just find himself a new editor and move on, Lindsay is obviously not over him.
Oh and I love that Carrie got her face smashed in by nannie Deb, I laughed hysterically, that psycho ran right into it

This episode was okay...i liked it a lot better than last weeks episode. This episode would have been a lot better if all the nanny carrie chesse didnt happen! especailly at the end when she came back alive!! that was dumb and was pointless!! oh and guys when are you going to start podcasting through season2??

I have to say, I was a little disappointed with the Nanny Carrie story line. I know I for one was waitng for a good Nanny Carrie/Haley showdown. I think Haley earned that after all the torment Nanny Carrie's put her family through. Plus that had to have been the most pointless ending to an episode ever. She was dead...why bring her back to life to kill her again?
I am glad it seems like Brooke is going to start up a new store. She has too much talent to let it go to waste, but at the same time, too much heart to let someone like her mom ruin her passion for her.

I didn't like the episode at all. The best part was Haley/Jamie scene.
The rest was just blah.
They showed TWO Brooke scene on the coda and nothing with Haley/Jamie? Seriouly??
And I love how there's nothing mentioning/about Haley in the polls.

The episode was not my favorite, but I'm fine.I'm glad to return Millicent, Brooke needs a friend now. While Peyton is not my favorite character, I felt bad when his "father" not showed up for dinner.Lucas with Lindsay, yet they note chemistry, those two will want much, and I liked what he Lindsey wrote in the book...
The crazy Carrie, I am happy that this dead, thank god by Deb and Dan... and bests lines of the episode
Is more that a crazy nanny in the town...Bitch
and
God I hate the woods

i have been waiting for this episode for a long time..... nanny carrie is GONE!!!! oh i'm so happy, i was getting so sick of her. i really liked that part of the episode too, i was so happy when i saw that it was haley who grabbed jamie but i was freakin out cuz i knew nathan was gonna call her! deb was awesome figuring everything out and knockin her out!! i've been waiting for someone to do that. i was actually glad that the character got killed cuz that's obviously the only way that she'll be gone for good. i wonder what nathan will say!?!? and i was glad that he got a coaching offer, but i'm torn because it would be a good job and he won't get hurt but he loves playing so much. but i DO NOT think slam ball is a good idea. it's way too rough for his back and i do not want him to get hurt again. also, it's bareley even basketball, basically the only aspect that is the same is you still put a ball through a hoop. other than that it's more like football and i don't think he'd like it. i knew that peyton's dad wouldn't show up, i don't really think she should have expected him to, but i felt bad for her. i wasn't really too interested in the lucas/lindsey storeyline, it was kinda boring for me. i'm so glad in the next episode that brook is finally going to tell peyton what happened!!!! it's about time! peyton should have been pushing the issue all along and should have found out already, but brooke should have also told her. i agree with brittany, that i miss the old OTH soooooooooo much =( i miss them all having storey lines together and their friendships. i'm sick of seeing everyone so isolated. we've had like one brooke/haley and one peyton/haley and one lucas/nathan scene the whole season and no lucas/haley. or jamie/lucas. i'm really tired of it seeming like they don't even know each other anymore. so writers please bring back our old OTH!!!

Hi Guys, Love you and your podcasts...this episode was good, but I am starting to get frustrated with the writing. The show seems to be keeping everyone seperated by their own storylines, I miss the old OTH when the storylines involved all the characters. Now we are lucky if Lucas and Haley even get a scene together. It seems like they have gone in a totally different direction this season than all the others.
Why all the darkness and viloence, 2 deaths within 5 episodes, and both Murders (even though Nanny Carrie deserved it), Brooke getting beaten and possibly raped, and the friendships, where is all the support with Brooke? Only Nathan and Haley have noticed that something is not right with her and Peyton was confronted with Brooke's strange behavior yet again last night and still nothing...she just goes along with the making of the dress? If she was a best friend she would force the issue and get Brooke talking.
Love that Millicent is back, but not so hot that the writers are making them have stronger connection then Baley/Beyton friendships. Nathan should coach, slam ball would be neat, but coaching gives him stability. The whole Peyton/Lucas Lindsay storylines didn't really intrigue me, it was just a filler in my opinion but i know that there are others that would disagree.
And lastly, Loved the Dan/Deb saving Haley and Jaime, although I would have loved to seen Haley fight Carrie, angry protctive Haley is the best. Glad that Nanny Carrie is gone for good, a little over kill though for her not being dead the first time, so not beliveable, and Dan, I'm sorry, but I love him...I know I know, he killed Keith (who I love BTW) but no one really brings that point up anymore and it is kind of like, if you aren't going to take Dan's character off after he killed his brother, then keep him around and let people like him...all in all, I like the episode and the season so far, but PLEASE writers, give us the old OTH we want and miss!
