Why would the producers, writers, and everyone involved even consider doing the final season without one of the primary characters? Doesn't anyone remember what happened with The OC?

Lucas Scott is unnecessary to the plot line now. He can get killed off and he won't be missed. This show would be better off without him, he whines too much and is a cheating sorry excuse for a person.

A season without Lucas!? Imposible! He's the main caracter... OTH need him. And I know that I dream big but I still have some hope that someday, Lucas realise that Brooke's the one. There are too many things in the preceding seasons which prove that they are made to be. “He’s the guy for her… and one day she will see” “people who are met to be together always find there way in the end”. He made the basket blindfold… “He’s the only one for whom she would be ready to lose everything for”. So let end a tv show like it supose to be for once please.
And BTW, Peyton's not Lucas Pretty girl… Brooke is! :p

I dont see why it is such a big deal if CMM returns or not. The show has so many other great characters and I think were giving CMM too much credit by saying hes the "focal point" of the show. I would watch season 7 with or without CMM.

One Tree Hill without Lucas/Chad would be the kiss of death! It will lose so many viewers and end on a low. Hope he stays but if not I'm sure he'll get lots of offers, he's a great actor & super hot!

I'm really sad that Chad wants to quit. One Tree Hill without one of the Scott will be different. But, there's a lot of characters in One Tree Hill and I think it could work without Lucas. But of course, the best choice would be him not to leave.

I think OTH can't be without Chad or Bethany or James, Sophia... The show must go on !!

It can't simply because the WHOLE show is moulded around him. In everything that happens Lucas has a part to play in it one way or another. Lucas is the heart of one tree hill and if he leaves one tree hill will loose alot of fans. Also he has an amazing personality, honesty, acting just everything can not be matched by another actor in one tree hill. If he leaves i'm sure it will be the end. I hope he stays!

OTH peut fonctionner sans CMM j'en suis sur ! Il faut faire confiance aux autres acteurs, aprés tout, il n'y a pas que Chad dans la série. Et puis ce n'est pas parceque Chad ne veut pas continuer que la série doit s'arretter !

Personally for me, I would continue to watch the show without Chad, or Lucas. I have become so in love with the show, characters, and plot created by Mark that I will stick with it through anything. However, I know of many people that said they will stop watching. So if ratigs are going to be hurt and the show will wind up cancelld leaving us without a proper ending, then I say leave it at season six with a proper ending the fans deserve. I really do hope Chad comes back for season 7, and if he doesnt I hope the show can survive.

For those of you who really want the show to continue on with Chad, make your voice heard write letters make petitions show Chad how we really love and want him on board. I think actors and actresses are inspired by their fans and how much they love them. So help out and do something for you, fellow fans, and most of all for One Tree Hill

The other characters are great, sure! But still, it's all about Lucas' story.

I think it will no longer be the same show! And that would suck...

Season 7 could totally go on without him. Although it would be sad as he has been a large part of the series since the beginning. However, as far as Peyton having to find a new love to help her get back up after something happening to Lucas. I have one word for you: Jake! Totally always been a fan of those two. Think of it, Lucas dies and Jake comes back to town for the funeral. They start getting close. End of season 7, they get married and raise their two children together! Brooke can stay with Julian and everyone lives happily ever after!

I REALLY don't want him to leave, but I also can't live without this show so I hope it continues either way!!

One Tree Hill will not survive without Lucas Scott. I know there are some fans who hate him quite a bit, but the fact of the matter is, he is the main character. The show was built around HIS friendships, HIS issues, HIS family, HIS relationships. Without HIM, it's not the same.

Call me sentimental, but the pilot episode ended with a Lucas Scott voiceover. It started with that, it should end with that.

That's all I'm going to say without ranting for quite a bit.

this is sad! but with CMM leaving this could be a good chance for the writers to shake things up! Lucas scott dying would bring a whole set of drama. it would be cool to watch.

omg! NO!! One Tree Hill can NOT function without Chad!! he's the focal point, and without him we'd just have random characters moving in and out of the screen. if Chad does not decide to continue, and the show does ... i don't even think i could watch it anymore. or at least not obsess about it anymore.

I love OTH, bt I think this should be the last season. They are setting up all the characters for good ending to this season...so just let it end on a high note. What more can they do for a season 7?

I can understand CMM wanting to leave, something he's entirely entitled to do so.

But from a creative perspective and a fan perspective, it would make absolutely no sense for the show.

When you've created a series built around Leyton, you can't continue that series with one or both of those characters gone. It's not fair to the fans and simply wouldn't make much sense.

and what exactly has chad got outside of oth? the only movie i can think of him in is, the cinderella story.

The show would do just fine without him. It's not about Lucas and Nathan anymore, maybe in season 1. But over the years, the other characters have also become a focal point. Chad is not going to make it big in movies, maybe on the Lifetime channel.

Leyton's endgame! They can't throw away a storyline that started in the pilot, just like that.

Also, I don't want to see my favourite character (Peyton) be devastated with losing her one true love.

I don't want an s7 in the first place, but having one without CMM is just a HELL NO!

The show will go on without Mr. Murray. First off, Lucas Scott hasnt contributed virtually anything to this season in terms of important scenes. I think Brooke's storylines have been great, and as long as we have other characters pitching in, season 7 could be a great season.

I honestly think that without Chad the show couldn't survive. The show is based off of him and Nathan. So without him it would be like getting a car for your birthday but not being able to drive it!! Plus with the way things are between him and Peyton I defiantly think he needs to be with her and the baby. It would be a positive for people everywhere to show that you have to be responsible. I love Chad, he is my favorite actor. But he has only done two good movies (A Cinderella Story and House of Wax). I think he needs to stay with the show. It provides a loyal fan base and a steady paycheck if thats what he's worried about. Trying to do movies will make him money but he might only do like two a year. So he HAS to stay on One Tree Hill, it will make himself and the fans happy. Look how many times we've rallied to save our FAVORITE show.

Ok I think that they only way the show could go on is if they were to kill lucas..and i dont think that would be good because then season 7 would be sad! Peyton would be left alone to raise a child and have ANOTHER season where she cry's the whole time! I think Chad should come back for one more season or they should end the show with season 6 and happily ever after. And they should deff decide soon that way we can know wether or not we are watching the last season or if we can have something to look forward to for next season!

Hes so dumb if he leaves this show. This is probably the best its gunna get for him. He is gunna be so typecast as Lucas he might as well stick it out another season, and i didnt hear about anyone wanting him for any movies!!!

If theres no lucas, that means that theres no leyton, we wont get to see them happily married with baby and mark might write in a storyline with them breaking up which would be heartbreaking for the leyton fans, ofcourse its possible for a no lucas season but storlyines would have to be very new and deep

I think OTH should return only if CMM decides to come back for 7 season also since he is one of the main character of the show.

Chad isn't coming back for another season, it's a fact. And he didn't get married, he and Kenzie are still engaged.

Okay, i'm sure One Tree Hill could last at least one more season without Lucas Scott....BUT should it? Honestly, i'd rather the show have an awesome ending this year with all the characters, rather than a mediocre one next year.
I know the love stories of OTH are awesome, but i'm still a believer that the focus of the show was and should still be Lucas/Dan/Nathan. Complex, manipulative father and his two sons. And of course Jamie the grandson.Since the show hasn't dealt with that too much over the last two seasons, i'd like a season 7 that returned to that.
Not to mention they'd have to scramble to give both Peyton and Brooke a happy ending without Mr. Idontknowwhatiwant Scott around. I'm a Leyton fan, but that trianlge is still an important part of the show. Peyton would have to a new love interest, and i guess Brooke would have Julian. But it just wouldn't be the same. It would be a completely different show about a bunch of random twenty somethings.

Can the show go on? Possibly. It's definitely do-able. (Wasn't there an episode in Season 4 or something that he wasn't in at all? Maybe even two? Or did I imagine this. But if so, and I think so, it has been done already.)

Would I be happy? Absolutely- so long as it doesn't kill my favorite show on TV right now.

I'd love to see how they would write him off now that he's knocked up Peyton, though. That'll be a challenge. ...Maybe he goes off to do movie press or something crazy like that?

Maybe he can pull a Jessica Biel à la 7th Heaven and sign on as a "guest star" and do 13 or 11 episodes or something. Or even 6. Or a good strategically placed 3. Good compromise I say.
