One Tree Hill Podcast: "You and Me and the Bottle Makes Three Tonight"

Listen Now

Welcome back, One Tree Hill! After the long, long break, we finally get to spend some quality time with our favorite couples. Too bad so many of them seemed to be having such a lousy time!

Casting

All is shiny and happy and well in Tree Hill -- for about 2.5 seconds. Then Peyton's having massive pains, and it looks like she may have to choose between the baby's life and her own. Lucas lobbies for Peyton to look after her own well-being, but Peyton won't hear of it. Meanwhile, Brooke hears something she doesn't want to from Julian -- how dare he say he loves her! -- and Julian gets freaked out by her freaking out. Mouth and Millie reunite, shed tears, and then break up for good. And Deb and Dan are forced to be nice to each other in front of Jamie, but the claws come out as soon as Jamie's out of earshot.

The only couple having a decent time is Nathan and Haley -- they've escaped the vortex of despair that is Tree Hill, and they're happily contemplating a future in which music co-exists with basketball and bunches of kids roam the halls. Thanks for the brief respite, guys -- but is a life on the road really what every child wants?

Hear what had me spitting with rage (this time), discover what bit of speculation led to Mia's workman's comp claim for hearing damage, find out what plot development would just be too tacky to handle, check it out as we weigh in on Peyton's chances in light of some off-screen info, and learn which one of us may have faked a phone call to duck an "I love you" conversation.

Hi, Alisha_nareen. We do plan on podcasting our way through seasons 2, 3 and 4, but we're holding that off til the summer, when there are no new episodes of our other shows. It's just too much for us to get together and watch/podcast the old episodes while we're still in major work mode with all the current shows. But rest assured, it will be coming!

I have a question for Jackie, Mia and
Sarah, I am not sure who has seen the second and third seasons, but was wondering why did the podcast stop after the first season? I think it would be nice to hear your reactions to brucas personally. Also Chad Michael Murray said on camera this week they don't want him back and he shot his final scene.

Gia, You have my name mixed up with the post below mine. I no it's not really that important, but I just wanted to state that I do not hate Leyton lol I am a huge LP fan. Plus, I agree with what you said ;)

I forgot to say that as far as I know. No one knows if Chad is coming back for sure because he said he wanted to focus more on his movie career but at the same time he never actually said no to coming back.

I can see where Lucas is coming from. It's almost like Peyton wants to die. Everyone knows that Mark Schwahn is a Leyton fan but I can't believe that he would do that to Leyton but he wouldn't dare kill off Peyton I mean that would be just wrong. If Peyton goes (which I hope she doesn't) I'm kinda on the fence about Brucas because Brucas was my fave couple of the show. But now I'm kinda liking Brulian.

I really thought that Dan and Deb were gonna kiss I think that would have been awesome. But Jamie finding out about Dan will be OMG.

OMG Sarah I never even thought of that. It never occured to me OMG. That would be OMG.

But I was so glad that Mouth finally acknowledged that it was his fault and it was about time.

Naley was awesome this time as usual.

yay glad you guys are back. awesome podcast

I absolutely agree with Gia's post.

Leyton storyline was the most breathtaking and heartbreaking thing to watch this season. In the entire show, probably. Lucas's love and fear for Peyton and Peyton's strength and maternal instincts were just dead on. The desparation, the fight, shouting, crying, comforting,... Simply amazing. Finally a real storyline with a internal ethical dillema. The thing is, when you're becoming a mom, every reason and objectivity shuts down and the endless love for your child prevails. Chad and Hilarie performance portraying the rollercoaster of LP's emotion was unbelievable.

Brooke and Julian's act was ok, I guess. I understand Brooke's fear regarding letting Julian completely in. I'm sure this is all just a set up for Brooke accepting to love this guy and letting the fear disappear. I really didn't for a second considered Brooke still having feelings for Lucas or Julian for Peyton. On the contrary, Lucas and Peyton are simply break factors for these two. Once Julian gets rid of the "Lucas curse" and Brooke is convinced Peyton is not an issue in Julian's life anymore, I Love You's will be flying out of them in a second.

NH? You're kidding me. I've never had no particular interest in them, they didn't bother me or interest me, they were just flat line couple, I guess, but...come on. The writers are not even trying here.

Oh, and I don't usually dispute anyone's opinion on the characters, relationships and the show in general cause I trully believe we're all different (and so are the three of you from each other) and we have different opinions, but to respond to the first poster here... There is absolutely no double standard in these podcasts when Leyton is concerned at all. Heck, even Mouth and Millie are mentioned more often then LP. And even though one of the girls actually likes Leyton (shocking, I know) and asking legit question of the necessity of Lucas being a factor in Brooke's love life, those are certainly not valid arguments for accusing them for being biased. Cause they most definitely not. Especially towards Leyton.

Alyssa you think they favor Leyton? LOL They hate Leyton. All they do is rag on them and Peyton as an individual character.

Chad and Hilarie did an amazing job with this story line. I was moved to tears. And it's realistic for the mom to want to keep the baby and for the dad to say no. I've seen this on at least 3 other tv shows including Grey's Anatomy. But, it's Peyton so of course we have to criticize it.

I used to like listening to these podcasts and didn't mind the LP hate but I don't understand how you could hate on this past episode. For once, could you just put your biases aside and give credit where it's due?

You liked NH? They are boring with a capital B. It's the same thing over and over again. Follow our dreams or don't follow our dreams? How can we do music AND basketball? Didn't we see the same thing at the end of season 5?

I'm gripped with some rage, don't worry.

About Millie: Now you've gone and made me all worried thinking she is dying. But, when you say that, she was bawling hysterically and I distinctly remember saying outloud "Wow Millie, way to die while driving", because crying and driving, especially on TV, never mix.
I have thought for a while now that Dan is going to get someone's heart. There is so much to do with that story and to just have him get someone random's heart is not productive. Millie being dead would be horrible.

And if Peyton dies, and Lucas is left with the baby, and Brooke is Brooke, then will Brooke end up being the Keith to Lucas's Karen? (Keith because it's like Brooke and Peyton are pseudo-sisters.) That would be weird, and I would kind of love it. But then all the Leyton people would be way angry. I don't know. I could so see Peyton, on her dying bed, tell Brooke to be with Lucas.

I just want everyone to stay on the show. Can't anyone not die for once?

Great podcast

ps though...about a brucas reunion...i guess you guys didnt get the memo that Chad is leaving too....so I am assuming what Hilarie meant on her video about creative control is that because Chad is leaving and they want Leyton together, Hilarie has to leave as well.

Which sucks. Cuz Hilarie rocks!

I love that you guys are back podcasting!

I really want you guys to podcast the past seasons though. Because now you guys know a lot of the answers to things that happen in earlier seasons. I wanted to see you guys to to unravel the mysteries like you tried to killed Dan back in season two. Please start podcasting old episodes!

Jackie, I don't understand how you can say "how are you still in love with Lucas all these years, Brooke" when PEYTON CRIED OVER HIM for THAT MANY YEARS?! And you seemed to think it was romantic when it was her.

I feel like you always have a double standard favoring Leyton, but I guess it's your blog, your opinion. I guess I just got some strange impression that you were an unbiased source, if there even is such a thing...
