Reaper: Don't Judge a Book by its Cover

This week's episode of Reaper found Ben having to choose between his friends and his heart. Still smitten with Nina, Ben trots out his demon lover (in human disguise, of course) to the local pub to meet the boys and Andi. Introducing your significant other to your friends is kind of a big deal and in an effort to ensure that all things go smoothly, Ben and Nina lie about her true nature and the details of their first meeting.

However, the truth comes out when Nina accidentally almost runs Sam over with her car. Was it just a simple mistake or done purposefully? It’s hard to tell. When Sam and Sock find out Nina’s true identity they force Ben to break off the relationship. Ben dutifully follows their direction in a public restaurant. Who knew a demon’s heart could break?

Sam, getting more frustrated with the Devil’s lack of morals with each assignment, tries to help the soul he’s been sent to capture. All the soul wants to do is win a championship boxing title to make up for the fight he threw for cash in his human life. Sam doesn’t see why the Devil can’t grant the guy this one wish. Sam just doesn’t get it. This is the Devil we’re talking about here. Why would the Devil do anything but lead people down a path of certain destruction?

The Devil pits the two against each other in the ring to settle the score once and for all. Either the soul kills Sam or Sam clocks the soul in the jaw with his boxing-glove vessel. Determined to redeem himself in any form for his past sins, the soul throws the fight and lets Sam win.

Spurred on by the dammed soul’s inherent goodness, Sam allows Ben to follow his heart and go back into Nina’s loving, demon arms. Things aren’t always what they seem, after all. And Andi takes on the role of manager at The Bench in the wake of Ted’s unglamorous departure. We don’t see the boys adapting to this changing of the guard easily.

What do you think? Will Andi’s new job put a strain on her relationship with Sam? Is Nina sincere or do you think she is using her feminine wiles on Ben to get to Sam?
