Movie News: Kristin Kreuk and Andrew St. John Hit the Big Screen

Soon you’ll be able to see a couple of your favorite CW stars on movie screens. We just got word that Kristin Kreuk – Lana on Smallville – will be showing off her fighting moves in the latest cinematic video-game adaptation. Kristin will be kicking butt in Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li -- and yes, she’ll be starring as Chun-Li. We can’t wait to see Ms. Lang work her fighting mojo on big bads other than Lex Luthor!

Also, Life is Wild hottie Andrew St. John wants to be your date for Valentine’s Day – that’s when his horror movie The Caretaker is set to be released. The flick revolves around a group of teenage boys who attempt to give their girlfriends a good scare in an abandoned house, where a real-life urban legend involving a caretaker took place.

Will you be checking either of these flicks out when they hit theaters?

Dear Santa: We Want These CW-Inspired Gifts!

The holiday season approaches, so our thoughts have turned to important matters like gifts, wish lists, and whether we've been naughty or nice – when we're not thinking about peace on earth and goodwill toward humanity, of course. We thought we'd share some of our holiday thoughts with you in hopes of lightening the gloom that comes with the holiday hiatus on some of your favorite shows.

Today, we’ve got our letter to Santa. Shut up! He does exist!

Dear Santa:

We've tried to be ever so good this year – we're giving fans exclusive interviews, we're not provoking riots among supporters of different characters, and we've hardly ever attempted to hotwire the Metallicar and drive off (except that one time, but come on, we're not saints!) So we hope we're on your Nice Kids list, and that you'd consider leaving us some CW-inspired gifts.

All we want for Christmas is:

* A resolution to the writers' strike, so they can get the residuals (and respect!) they deserve and we can get new episodes of our favorite shows!
* Bigger audiences and/or more network attention for our favorite brilliant-but-neglected shows like Supernatural, Aliens in America and The Game.
*, One Tree Hill to start already! Waiting until January is killing us!

Life Is Wild: Games People Play

Jesse makes his move

They've made it through a stint in jail, but Katie and Oliver's relationship was tested once again -- this time on the soccer field. On last night's Life Is Wild, the newish couple faced off in the girls vs. boys match at school -- and Oliver couldn't handle the fact that Katie was better than he was at soccer. That was bad enough, but then Katie couldn't handle the fact that Oliver couldn't handle it, so she faked an injury so she wouldn't have to play. Her logic? If she played for the girls and won, Oliver wouldn't like her anymore. But if she played and deliberately lost the game for the girls, she'd be letting her teammates down. So she gave herself an out so she wouldn't have to play at all.

That didn't sit right with Jo, though, and she reminded Katie that the most important thing was that Katie still liked herself. Forget insecure boys! So Katie told Oliver the truth, which was good, but her timing was kind of awful -- he was on his way over, toting DVDs to nurse her through her "injury." And he didn't take the news so well.

Life Is Wild Recap: Katie Tries Being Bad

Good girl Katie tried to get in touch with her rebellious streak on last week's Life Is Wild by ordering drinks underage and trying a little dine-and-dash with Oliver. Meanwhile, Jesse was actually the good guy when he tried to cover for Oliver's cheetah shooting. Check out Jason C.'s recap!

Life Is Wild Recap: Bad to the Bone

JesseWe hear you, CW Source voters. Last week,
we asked you which show you wanted us to cover more, and Life Is Wild fans voted like crazy. We love the show, too, and we're all about giving you what you want, so, starting today, we'll have Life Is Wild recaps and polls every Monday in addition to the video recaps on Friday. Now, let's get to the show!

In a surprising role reversal, it was Jesse who played hero on last night's Life Is Wild... while Katie's spontaneous decision to be a bad girl landed her behind bars in a Johannesburg jail! Fortunately, Katie's stint as a wild child didn't last long -- by the end of the episode, she even dictated her own punishment to her dad.

What'd you think about the Jesse/Oliver cheetah shooting debacle? We loved seeing Jesse covering for Oliver. The entire episode, Oliver's dad was freaking out and blaming Jesse, and his own son was really the one to blame! Jesse seems to be growing up. We just wish he'd be a little easier on himself -- he's always the first to label himself the bad boy.

As for Katie, she was trying just a little too hard to be bad. We thought she'd stop when her attempt to order drinks at the bar failed, but apparently she still wanted to show off to Oliver with a little dine-and-dash. And Oliver? You were an accomplice to Katie's crime (and you could have stopped her -- she was just trying to impress you!), and you committed one yourself when you shot the cheetah and almost let Jesse take the blame and punishment. Not cool. Step it up next week, okay? You know better.

Life Is Wild: D.W. Moffett and Stephanie Niznik

We've adored them both on past CW/WB shows -- D.W. Moffett was upstanding Bob on Hidden Palms, and Stephanie Niznik charmed us as Nina on Everwood. Now, the two have paired up as the parents on Life Is Wild. In this interview, they talk about their new roles and why they were excited to work on a good family show. Tell us what you think!

Life Is Wild Recap: Heritage Day

Aw, talk about unlucky in love -- Tumelo and Jesse both got rejected on last week's Life Is Wild. But it wasn't all bad news in the love department -- another couple got engaged while staying at the lodge! Get Jason C.'s recap.

Fall Preview: Life Is Wild

Life Is Wild is primed to be The CW’s family show, taking 7th Heaven’s timeslot (and hopefully, some of its loyal audience). The premise is a little different, though. Instead of Camden Christianity in California, it’s about an unhappy blended family abruptly relocated to South Africa. The move's ostensibly for Dad’s job… well, and more importantly, it's done in hopes that the 12-month experiment will bring everyone closer together. Will living thisclose to giraffes and lions spur some major family bonding?

Okay, we fully expected this show to be a giant ball of cheese. It had all the prerequisites: angsty multi-generational drama, parents that just don't understand, and people saying things about a late parent like, "I can feel Mom here with us."

And yet…. it's got potential. In fact, the premiere is pretty good. Hold on – hear us out!

Poll: Which New CW Show Are You Most Excited About?

Is it Reaper because of all the hype? Gossip Girl because you loved the books? Aliens in America because the premise intrigues you? Or Life Is Wild because you like to be different? We'd love to know, so vote and tell us which new CW fall show you're most excited to see.

Don't worry; we haven't forgotten our old favorites -- we'll have more polls about those shows next week! Until then, have a fantastic weekend, and we'll be back on Monday with a Gossip Girl preview, the Smallville bracket, and more video! Later!

New CW Stars on the Breakout List

The Chicago Sun-Times has come up with its list of the top 10 new characters destined to break big in the 2007 TV season, and we've got two CW stars on the list.

Tyler Labine of Reaper comes in at number seven: "Labine has knocked around in good roles on other TV shows, as happy-go-lucky and smart men on "Invasion" and "Boston Legal"… The thing about Labine is he seems at first to be just a goof, but he can't hide the smarts in his head. His clownish dork-by-choice is content to live a fun life of adventure, wrapping tape around his hands to amuse himself."

Life is Wild's Leah Pipes hit the list at number nine: "The show itself avoids the usual TV slutification and dumbing down of kids, [a]nd Pipes provides the narration with a sober lightheartedness."

Do we agree with their assessments? Well, you're about to find out. We've seen all four of the new CW premieres (Gossip Girl, Reaper, Aliens in America, and Life Is Wild), and each Monday, we'll share our take. Don't worry, we won't reveal anything spoilery! But we will give you a little preview of what we loved, hated, and what surprised us. Coming up later today: a Reaper preview.
