Melrose Place: Meet Katie's Cool New Guy

Seems we are always interested in what Katie Cassidy (our Ella) is doing off set. And the Melrose Place star doesn’t disappoint.

According to E Online the MP hottie is playin’ it cool like Carrie Underwood and dating a pro hockey player.

Katie’s being pretty hush hush about the romance but did confirm that she is dating someone. She also spilled that he is not an actor but “kind of” in the entertainment biz and his initials are J.S. Seriously, are we in junior high here? We’re getting the urge to go doorbell ditch.

Apparently K.C. and J. S. (who E! discovered is the yummy and fully teethed Jarret Stoll of Los Angeles Kings fame) met at a game that took place at the Staples Center in L.A. They hung out after and now they’re TOTALLY hanging out. In fact, the hot iceman was by her side at the Melrose Place wrap party at Hollywood Billiards. The 27-year-old Stoll was previously engaged to Rachel Hunter but he called off what would have been their August wedding, last June.

Melrose Place: Second-Half Shenanigans and Sex

Oh yes, things are definitely going to heat up on Melrose Place during the second half of the season. Since the suits at the C-Dub are making the renewal call toward the end of the season, the scribes at MP are really ramping things up so they’ll still be getting a pay check come September.

So, according to our yappy friends at E! Online skin equals ratings and they’re really going to sex things up in the next couple of months. E! caught up with Katie Cassidy (Ella) and Stephanie Jacobsen (Lauren) at a charity event and the starlets talked sex…and stuff.

We know that Ella is gonna be gettin’ her some—but she may be hooking up with more than just one neighbor. And you all know that the girl doesn’t stick strictly to the opposite sex so the sky’s the limit. Then Stephanie spilled that her character, Lauren, could be making a big career change soon. So, that would mean less sex if she’s gonna quit hooking. But maybe she leaves her Pretty Woman gig for David? Which would mean more unpaid sex. Only time will tell!

There are so many possible hook-up situations at our favorite apartment complex. We’re looking forward to seeing the fireworks between Jonah and Ella (not to mention the potential cat fight that could ensue between Ella and the ex-almost Mrs. Jonah). It might be fun to see Amanda and Michael rekindle their old flame, or, well, you tell us! What sex scene would you most like to see played out at MP? Tell us in the comments

Melrose Place: Katie Cassidy, Top Breakout Star of '09

Anyone who watches Melrose Place can tell you what a superstar our Ella (AKA Katie Cassidy) is. She wears the best clothing, has the most kick-ass job and, let's face it, she gets all the best lines. But it's the woman behind the woman who is getting recognized lately. Yes, Buddy TV has announced their Top 9 Breakout Stars of '09 and naturally, Katie Cassidy is one of them.

Not exactly a newbie, but...
Never mind that Katie has been acting for years, frequently appearing in 7th Heaven, Supernatural and Harper’s Island -- just to name a few. The folks at Buddy TV see our MP ingénue as “poised to hit it big in the future”. And that could just happen with her steaming hot role in Melrose taking off and two flicks in the bag for 2010, including the remake of "A Nightmare on Elm Street."

It’s in the genes baby
It’s no surprise that Katie’s career is taking off. Talent clearly runs in the family. She’s the daughter of David “I Think I Love You” Cassidy, granddaughter of Shirley Jones (both of The Partridge Family fame) and niece of Shaun Cassidy (of The Hardy Boys fame). Any girl who lived through the ‘70s can tell you that David and Shaun were super foxy poster fodder and frequent Tiger Beat cover boys back in their day. So Katie had some help in the genes department. But we can’t deny her talent.

Other MP breakout prospects?
Nothing against Katie, but with such a strong (and hot!) ensemble cast we were surprised to see that she was the only one to represent the MP. Which other cast members past, present and future should have made the list? Tell us here in the comments.

Melrose Place: Mid-Season Report Cards Are Out

With mid-season upon us we have an opportunity to sit back and reflect on the first half and prepare ourselves for a second half of our favorite new show, Melrose Place. The cast has already gone through some shakeups -- hello Miss Amanda and farewell crazy Violet! And some have even died -- RIP Syd.

During the mid-season break it is also traditional to discuss what is working and not working so much, which is where our friends at TV Guide come in. They recently issued report cards and slapped grades on all of the new shows that premiered in the fall and are lucky enough to still be around.

Can't we get some extra credit here?
While we typically agree with the fine folks at TV Guide, we take offense to the grade they gave our Melrose Place: C+. They say that the murder mystery started strong but fizzled and the cast (other than Ella) is still waiting for a compelling story line. Hello? Med school by day and hooking by night? Stealing valuable art from your own father? What's not compelling about THAT?

What would you do?
With our incredible cast of characters the sky’s the limit. What do you think should happen to your favorite (and not so favorite) MP characters in the second half of the season? Tell us here in the comments.

Melrose Place: An Unscripted MP Love Triangle

Looks like the Melrose Place set isn’t the only place that the actors have drama. But if E! Online is correct, our dear Katie Cassidy is off the market…for now.

Word is that Jesse McCartney is already bored with his new gal pal, Hero Hayden Panettiere, and has returned to the arms of his ex, Katie. The two lovebirds have quite a history together, starting when they were both just 15 and touring with the group Dream Street. Plus, everyone knows that Ella is the hottest character on Melrose. Why wouldn’t Jesse coming running back now?

There was also some gossip about a possible cat fight over Jesse but Katie’s "people" say that’s a bunch of hogwash.

Melrose Place: Syd's Murderer Is Finally Revealed

We waited weeks but we finally got our catfight in the Melrose Place pool. It ended with Violet on top after killing the person who murdered her mother.

Flashback fun
Amanda finds Sydney in a church and in flashback the dead woman tells her nemesis that she never stole a painting because she never received it. The painting was worth 19 million smackeroos. The two were business partners before Syd was whacked. Amanda found the paintings and Syd turned them into cash. Amanda tells her former business partner that she'll do whatever she has to do get the painting back.

Just plain silliness
Just when Lauren and David are doing so well she gets a call from Rick. He is just looking for a nooner. She agrees to meet him at the Doheny Hotel.

When Rick asks Lauren if she'd like a little synthetic assistance with the sex, she passes on the drug thing. But she does agree to some champagne -- which Rick promptly spikes. After the amazing sex Rick is rockin' and Lauren is spinning on the bathroom floor.

Rocky relationships
Ella can't get to Jonah in order to apologize to him for selling him down the river. Ever the hard ass, Jonah's not accepting any apologies until Ella tells him that she's working the Curtis Heller press tour and could get him in for a quick pitch. That's quite a peace offering. But his pitch to the most important producer of the decade has to happen before 4 o'clock so he and Riley can elope. The two crazy kids finally want to put an end to the misery of their engagement by getting married. Unfortunately, Jonah's pitch appears to just put the producer to sleep. Better luck next time.

But just as Riley and Jonah are about to head out of town for the eloping, Ella finds him to let him know that Heller wants to buy his movie! Riley wants him to stay in LA and takes the opportunity to delay the trip to Vegas. She loves him but too much has happened since they became engaged. She can't commit to spending her life with someone when she doesn’t even know what kind of life she wants. He tells her no more wedding, no more us. So no more them.

Melrose Place: There's Clearly Something in the Chlorine That Makes These People Crazy

Just when we thought that the new Melrose Place 2009 cast wasn’t going to be as loony as the old school cast, we're treated to valuable lessons in backstabbing, thievery and even a little bit of incest.

Stuff we thought was pretty cool
When Vanessa tells Michael that she caught David snooping around in their garage while he was out of the country, the good doctor knows immediately what his son was after. He finds the necklace gone and immediately confronts David.

Even more brilliant than threatening Lauren's internship and the fact that he could flunk her out of ULA, Michael sics Amanda on David, informing her that the boy and Syd were thick as thieves right before she was murdered.

Naturally, that does turn Amanda's attention to the young Mancini. But it all backfires when David tips off the police and they catch Michael in David’s apartment, stealing back the bloody necklace. This definitely pegs Michael as a thief but does it mean that he murdered Syd? Apparently David thinks so because he begins celebrating Auggie's release from custody immediately.

Melrose Place: Amanda's a Legendary Bitch

When Amanda Woodward returned to Melrose Place last week, many of the old show's original fans were not at all surprised by the extent of her evil. Oh, you newbies have so much to look forward to.

So it's only natural that the woman would be voted one of the top TV bitches of all time, according to Entertainment Weekly. We watched her ruin Courtney Thorne-Smith's sweet young Allison Parker time and time again (it’s no wonder CTS hasn’t agreed to return to the show!) and we're practically salivating, just wondering who will become Amanda’s punching bag this time around -- though it does seem like Ella is a pretty good contender.

Amanda shares the EW spotlight with other bitch luminaries such as Nellie Oleson from Little House on the Prairie, Alexis Carrington Colby from Dynasty, Kim Kelly from Freaks and Geeks, Lilith Sternin in Cheers and even Miss Piggy. Though it was hard to miss the fact that Amanda took top honors.

Welcome back to Melrose Place Amanda. We can't wait to see what you'll do next!

Melrose Place: The Bitch is Back and a Girl-on-Girl Make-Out Sesh

Amanda clearly knows how to make an entrance. She walks into WPK and cans Caleb on the spot -- right in front of Ella. Apparently he's been slacking by "Amanda" standards. It's been years since she's been anywhere near Melrose Place but the woman hasn’t changed a bit.

Best moments, good stuff and a little bit of romance

Riley fakes it, but not well
We just love Amanda. When Riley's past isn't colorful enough to be interesting, Amanda cooks her up a juicy one. And when Riley objects, she is reminded that if she doesn't fulfill all of her promotional obligations for the Anton V modeling gig, she doesn't get her 10 Gs. She hasn’t gotten paid yet? She's in magazines and splashed across buses. Seriously, what kind of contract did that girl sign? Amanda has Ella jumping through hoops in order to remain employed. If she doesn't keep Riley in line, she's out.

At the breakout party, Melissa, a talent agent with a fancy accent, shows up and tries to woo Ella with a corner office, double the commission and a little tongue hockey. But Ella denies her, telling her that her heart belongs to WPK. Of course, Amanda put Melissa up to the whole thing. But Ella passed with flying colors. And she looks like a really good kisser too!

Ella is looking good until Riley decides that she can't take her fake bio anymore and blurts out (to the press!) that the goons at WPK created her colorful past for her. Not only is she out 10 grand but she could cost Ella her job. Thanks, friend!

There's more after the jump -- read on!

Melrose Place: A Very Arresting Day in LA

We're starting to think that the folks at Melrose Place have a little trouble with the truth. We expect it from the likes of David and Michael and even Lauren, but these days we're even starting to doubt Jonah and Riley.

Best moments, good times and favorite bits

You do know who Franz Keppler is, don’t you?
Ella is assigned to babysit German Indy film maker Franz Keppler, but she knows nothing about his flicks or lederhosen. Film geek Jonah Miller to the rescue! He poses as Ella's colleague, but when Franz gets all frisky-like with the lovely Ella at their meeting, Jonah comes to the rescue and tells him that they're a couple. And they play it off with snuggles, kisses, PDA and all. But Ella gets a little too into the role playing and invites Jonah to continue the afternoon at a nearby hotel. He reminds her -- in no uncertain terms -- that he's engaged...and in love with Riley.

Don't mess with Michael Mancini
Michael hasn't been on his A-game these days. He allowed himself to get blackmailed -- not just once but over and over again -- by Violet, who never really struck us as the most intelligent person in the building. And now she needs another favor. She needs a lawyer because she's been charged with resisting arrest. But unfortunately for Violet, Michael knows people...including the judge, who has agreed to allow the good doctor to be Violet's character witness. So in order for him to not talk her up as the local psychopath, Violet erases the blackmail video. Buh-bye cash flow.

Find out what we weren't so thrilled about after the break!

Melrose Place: Things Are Heating Up -- Trust Us On This

There are all kinds of trust issues going on in Melrose Place these days. Jonah and Riley are hiding things, David and Ella can't seem to get their act together enough to create a decent alibi for the night of Syd’s death... and that's just the beginning.

One good kiss deserves another
We'll file this one in the "what were you thinking?" file. After Jonah learns about the kiss between Riley and Auggie, he meets Kendra, the development executive, for cocktails. They kiss too, but Jonah tells her that he's engaged. The next day Riley offers to help Jonah work a wedding. And he keeps his secret buried until he decides to blow it out between the wedding and the reception. Nice. I'm sure the bride and groom appreciated that. Riley thinks that she solves the problem by breaking off her friendship with Auggie. When she asks Jonah to not see Kendra he refuses -- this is the only person in Hollywood who "gets his vision."

Sydney picked up David at his mom's grave
We've got to hand it to Syd, she sure knows how and where to pick 'em. She found David mourning his mom in the graveyard and picked him up then and there. We already know that their relationship was a messy one. But it turns out that David blacked out the night of Syd's death and thinks he could have been the one who killed her. In flashbacks we see that David woke up that night in Syd's bed with a bloody knife in his hand. He quickly buried it at a construction site but for some reason decides to go dig it up... and it's gone. A worker found it and turned it in to the police.

Melrose Place: Violet and Auggie Will Ride Into the Dreaded LA Sunset

It's being reported that there's been a massive shake-up in the cast at Melrose Place already and it's not even November sweeps yet!

According to The Insider Violet and Auggie will exit the storyline come January as several new characters, including one Amanda (AKA Heather Locklear) will be introduced...or, re-introduced, as the case may be.

The MP Powers That Be are claiming that the "Who Killed Sydney?" storyline will wrap in December and then the show will take on a lighter, more fun vibe. Producers say that Simpson-Wentz always knew that being written off the show was a possibility. Still...we love the crazy. We'll miss that for sure.

And speaking of missing...can we please have a moment of silence? We're absolutely shocked that the MP scribes can even consider writing off the hottest guy on the show! But apparently, Auggie is simply too dark.

Why do you think about Ashlee and Colin leaving the show? Do you think it's a mistake? Will you miss them? Tell us here!

Melrose Place: Jo Returns to MP and Breaks Up the Happy Couple

Jo Reynolds is back on Melrose Place and she's the photo journalist (aka fashion photographer) for Riley's big shoot. But Jo needs hot and sexy, not inhibited. So she tells Riley to keep the jeans and lose the top. Naturally, the school teacher isn't thrilled with the costume change.

What we loved
We got to see a softer side of Ella
When Riley freaks about taking off her shirt Ella convinces her that she can do it. In her own twisted sort of way Ella tells Riley that she thinks that she's beautiful and people can't help but fall madly in love with her. It's a rare tender moment for the junior publicist. When Riley finally comes out, sans the top, Jo taunts her model in an attempt to bring out some raw emotion. Jo even asks Riley if she isn't too young to get married. Ella sticks up for her neighbor but Riley still walks off set. We pegged Riley for a lot of things, but quitter wasn't one of them.

What we didn't love
David is a fast healer
David is completely healed from his beatdown and willing to loan Lauren $20,000, no interest, in order to pay her tuition. And how does she thank him? She shows up outside the house he's robbing in Beverly Hills (in broad daylight!) and spills his loot all over the driveway. Apparently sleeping with people who have money is okay but stealing from people who have money is not. Lauren tells David that she doesn't want his stolen money, but she won't turn him in as long as he never steals again.

There's more -- read on!

Melrose Place: Money, Success, Revenge -- Nothing Comes Easy in HelLA

For some reason when Auggie leaves Melrose Place to surf in Cabo for a few days, he asks Violet to watch his place. She rolls all over his bed, sniffs his clothes and does her creepy thing around his apartment. Then she goes through his stuff and finds a note from Sydney. In the note Syd tells Auggie how miserable her ex-husband is making her life. This, of course, gets the girl without a hobby a very big idea.

The happy couple is broke
Ella gets Jonah another gig, this time with Anton, a creative genius designer. But somehow, despite all of the work Ella is throwing his way, Jonah is broke. In a stroke of luck, Anton spots Riley and decides that he wants her as the face of his new campaign. Ella hates the idea, but a client has the last word. Riley hates the idea too as the only people she's comfortable standing up in front of are six-year-olds. Not only is it every girls' dream but it means 10 grand for five days of work. When Riley puts her foot down and says no means no, Ella tells her that she's just being selfish.

When Jonah's rent check bounces he tries to sell his ex3 camera (that the dummy still needs for work!) and then has to admit that he has no money. Next thing you know, Riley shows up at the WPK offices and takes Anton’s gig -- thereby saving Ella's ass. And let's face it -- Riley’s looked very good in Anton's jeans...and no one looks good in white jeans!

Melrose Place: Happy Freaking Birthday Ella Simms

It's Ella's birthday on Melrose Place and to celebrate we get a fabulous flashback eppy -- giving us insight into the Junior Publicist's past ... and her shoe collection. The shoes do rock but we have to wonder...does that girl ever wear anything comfy?

Syd makes Ella a superstar
Through Ella's flashbacks we learn that Syd befriended the poor, clueless girl from Denver, taught her a sense of style and gave her a "much needed" makeover. She's hardly Tyra Banks, because we think Ella looked pretty cute even before the transformation. But after Ella got tired of being Syd's indentured servant, she started blowing off her pal -- and no one blows off the Syd. So Sydney started making Ella's life hell. It's Operation Destroy a Life and nobody does it better than Sydney.

Lauren is one busy hooker
Wendi Madison, Lauren's new "Madame," promises to keep her safe...and send a lot of work her way. But if she misses one date she's out. When Lauren agrees to go shopping with her dearest friend Riley to pick out her bridal gown, she's quickly sidetracked by a "date."

Lauren is the luckiest hooker ever. We find it hard to believe that the guys she meets up with actually have to pay for sex. Where are the dorks and the freaks? These guys are stone foxes. So Lauren misses her shopping spree to get paid for sex and Riley is peeved (of course, the oh-so innocent bride-to-be has no idea that her pal thinks she's Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman"). She was going to ask her to be her maid of honor. Lauren promises to be a better BFF and the best maid of honor ever.

There's more after the break -- read on!

Melrose Place: What’s a Little Blackmail Amongst Friends?

Jane’s back at 4616 Melrose Place, and she may be fluffy and sweet on the outside but she's developed a cranky mean center we never really saw in the '90s. She gets right down to the blackmailing, telling Ella that Syd forwarded her all of those awful, threatening emails Syd had sent. Jane will do her best to keep them away from the police if Ella will get Abby Douglas to walk the red carpet in one of her dresses. Jane is ready for a comeback to the fashion world. And she'll use anyone she can to claw her way back in.

We've got a runner
When a couple of police detectives show up at MP to talk to Violet, she asks them to let her get dressed. While they wait she slips out the bathroom window. Oh, Crazy Violet -- apparently she's "afraid" of cops. She shows up at Jane's shop, announces that she is family and that she needs her help. Jane's kind to her face and then calls the authorities.

There's more after the jump!

Melrose Place: Ella vs. Riley!

We know there are all sorts of delicious conflicts brewing on Melrose Place -- and one of the ones we're waiting for with baited breath is Ella vs. Riley! It's obvious that Ella is pining for Riley's man, so we asked the two actresses behind those characters what we can expect.

First Katie Cassidy talks about why Ella is the way she is around Jonah, what it's like to play the big bad bitch, and why Ella might be guilty of Sydney's murder:

Then, Jessica Lucas tells us what we can expect from her relationship with Jonah (hint: it wouldn't be Melrose Place if things went smoothly!) and whether we can expect Riley to put the smackdown on Ella. Plus, she teases that Riley might not be a teacher for long! Take a look:

What's your take on the clips? Do you want to see an Ella/Riley cage match over Jonah? Which of these ladies do you think Jonah should end up with? Talk about it in the comments!

Melrose Place: These People Have Serious Issues

Things continue to heat week by week on Melrose Place. This week we were blissfully happy to see Michael Mancini get so much camera time. He's so deliciously evil, we could eat him with a spoon. And the dirt continues to come out on the rest of the tenants as well. Riley isn't the best fiancé we've ever seen, Auggie is a mystery wrapped in an enigma and dipped in crazy sauce, and Violet continues to get more and more psycho... um, "quirky."

Don't mess with the Doctor
As if stealing million-dollar art from the Mancini manor wasn't enough of an outlet for Daddy Issues, David vows to pin Sydney's murder on Michael...and he'll get him for helping Syd fake her death all those years ago while he's at it. This is all after he swiped his dad's keycard from the hospital and managed to tap into daddy's computer remotely, which reminds us -- who wants Michael Mancini to be their cardiac surgeon? Uh...not us.

But who, exactly, does David think he's dealing with here? Michael is the master manipulator and most talented, unabashed liar in the greater LA area (and that's saying something!). We have a feeling that guilty or not, Michael will eat David alive.

There's lots more after the break, so read on!

Melrose Place: Amanda Woodward Returns...From the Dead?

The Melrose Place news we've been hankerin' for finally came down officially today. Heather Locklear will reprise her MP role as the scheming, hottie Amanda Woodward on the new show. She'll join the newbies in her debut appearance on Tuesday, November 17.

Familiar faces on the Melrose Place Set
So far original cast members like Thomas Calabro, Laura Leighton, Josie Bissett and Daphne Zuniga have all announced their return. But according to Us Weekly it took seeing the pilot of MP2009 to get Locklear to sign on. The magazine is reporting that the star "...was surprised at how much she liked it." Well...yeah! Clearly, fans from the old show have joined new fans, making it one of the hottest new series on TV right now.

Dead Chick Walking
The only possible problem that we see with the return is that Amanda faked her death when the series ended in 1999. So it's going to take some crafty maneuvering by the MP scribes -- and we're not going to lie, we can't wait to see what they come up with! (Fortunately, they've had plenty of practice bringing stars back from the dead -- after all, Sydney rose from the grave, too!) We're bummed to hear that Locklear's real-life love Jack Wagner has no plans to return to the show as Peter, the very character who ran off with "dead" Amanda in the series finale. But we're hoping he will change his mind. Anything can happen -- when Locklear first joined the show back in the day she was credited as a guest star and that credit never changed.

The Powers That Be over at the C-Dub are keeping mum about exactly what Locklear's role will be, but if the first two eppies give us any indication, it's bound to be hot. What (and who?) do you think Amanda will be doing when she returns to MP? Tell us here!

This week on Melrose Place, we discover that Ella is made of awesome, that Lauren knows how to get her bitch on, and that Sydney has a heart.. well, sometimes. We were impressed by the layers they gave Syd in this episode -- but even more impressed by Violet finally letting her crazy come out to play. The clothing? Not so impressed by that.
