The gang pays homage to various John Hughes masterpieces, which makes us happy, but very little actually happens, whish is fine with Darcel and less fine with me. Oh well. Hey, at least we got some wicked costumes and a guest appearance by Cheap Trick!

The sisters James finally have it out in a huge catfight in the pool on One Tree Hill, and we were just fine with it. Granted, we could have done with a little more violence, but you can't have everything... Plus, I come oup with a theory that accounts for hte sudden reappearence of locksmiths in our fair city, we identify some of our favorite cutting lines, and we applaud the fact that the Brulian relationship is finally moving a bit. The One Tree Hill folks are back with an extended Haley James Scott music video! Oh, fine, there's also some plot interspersed between the songs -- Jamie alienates his friends (and us), Brooke and Julian continue their star-crossed lovers schtick, Alex gets an annoying counterpart in Alexander, Victoria developed a soul, and, hmm, let's see, what else.... oh yeah, Taylor shows up and she's dating Quinn's ex-husband! So tacky, so evil, so utterly delicious...

Darcel and I discuss plans for Jamie, wishes for Millie, dynamite idea for a reality series, and some pretty awesome pics that have us salivating for the ep after next.... Check it out!

This. Was. AWESOME. Darcel and I squee over the best One Tree Hill in recent memory, which included Hot!!! Dan taking charge, Rachel discovering that no one controls Dan for long, Clay getting his groove back, and Naley discovering that dreams do come true. Sure, there's also Alex surviving her suicide attempt, but at least that gave us Brooke's fab "you're selfish" speech. And yeah, we could have done without Quinn's horrific cheerleader audition (Make. It. STOP!), but over all? We loved it.

Finally! Gossip Girl brings us some quality Chuck and Blair time! We were loving the angst and heartbreak of Chuck dealing with the one-year anniversary of his dad's death, and though Blair actually, for the first time in a long time, did exactly the right thing for him. Oh, sure, there was other stuff in the episode -- Serena and Tripp re-enact Chappaquiddick, Nate punches out Tripp (yay!) and Jenny is now apparently a drug dealer -- but its the Chuck/Blair scenes that stick in our minds. What a great way to end the year!

But apparently depression makes us chatty, because we managed to whip up a marathon podcast (complete with occasional computer pings and random noises for no apparent reason) in which we psychoanalyze everyone, wish for contradictory things, ponder the possibility of Clooke (Bray?), put the smackdown on Alex, and praise the joy that is eeeeeeeeeeevil Rachel. Glee!

Once again, everyone who's anyone manages to be at the same T-Day dinner, where they learn about Serena and Tripp's affair, Eleanor's plans to move, Eric's continuing enmity towards Jenny, and Dorota's pregnancy. Guess which one of those we're most excited about? Also, my computer makes random pinging noises for no apparent reason, so we've got that going for us, which is nice!

Now, if only the threesome itself had been less... boring. We were much less interested in the sexual shenanigans than we were in the continuing struggle between Serena and Blair, Chuck's devious plans to get the two best friends back together, Eric's attempts to teach Jenny a lesson, and Jenny's rise to the Queen of the Upper East Side. Also, Chuck? You never lend out your girlfriend's lacy underthings. That's just nasty!

The truth comes out on One Tree Hill -- to no one's surprise, Renee is exposed as a lying skank. Dan milks the moment by strapping her into a lie-detector, which says all of her answers are true. Then he reveals that the lie detector is faked. And at the end, he reveals a big old scar on his chest, suggesting he may not be on borrowed time like we think. Intriguing.... Meanwhile, Naley angsts, Brooke pouts, and Clay and Quinn get a little flashback love, showing us how they got to where they are now.

Once again, she sticks her nose where it doesn't belong, and she does it in such a way that Chuck revoked his forgiveness and disinvites her from his fabulous '20s-themed club opening. Our two favorite schemers work it out in the end, but Blair, we're putting you on notice. Jenny reveals she's become a heinous bee-yotch when she lets her minions torment Eric and Jonathan, and Eric wisely tells her to take a hike. Serena complains about her work, and Dan gets self-righteous about Olivia's movie-making past. Plus, Rufus as a Ramone! Bliss!

It was time for the boy-on-boy smackeroo on Gossip Girl -- and while the kiss itself wasn't terribly exciting, the fireworks around it kept us seriously entertained! What was Blair thinking? Yes, she screwed up badly by using Chuck as a pawn instead of treating him as an equal participant in her scheme. Will he be able to forgive her? There was other stuff in the episode, of course -- Serena tried to win Carter in a poker game (yawn), Nate was actually playing her to get back at the Buckleys (snore), Vanessa channeled Blair in an attempt to win the freshman toast (why should anyone care about that?), we met V's mother (Gina Torres, squeeeeee!), and Olivia acted like an idiot to show Rufus and Lily how they shouldn't.... underestimate famous people? We admit we're a little unclear on that. But in the end, it was all about Chair for us. What's going to happen?

We get intimations that Clay might be off his gourd, and wonder when we're going to get more scoop on him. And Millie seems to be on a rapid downward spiral -- now she's stealing Alex's diet pills. Plus, we come up with plausible reasons to keep Julian barely clad for every episode, we wonder about the one-note nature of recent episodes, we ponder Dan's plans, and Darcel invents various scenarios for knocking off characters she doesn't like. She's starting to worry me, folks...

Unfortunately, this Rufus-centric episode was also Lily-centric, which made us less excited. At least we got a yowza-inducing Chair scene or two, some lovely wedding planning moments, an over-the-top-crazy Georgina, and the end of Scott to take our mind off Lily.
