We're heading to the Supernatural convention in LA this weekend, and we'll be interviewing Jared Padalecki (yes, we have a dream job)! We'll ask him about his new Friday The 13th movie role -- and of course, we'll try our best to get some Supernatural finale scoop out of him.

Jared Padalecki fights demons, witches, vampires and other nasty beasts in his day job as Supernatural's Sam Winchester. So what does he do to relax in his off-time? He chases down hockey-mask-wearing unstoppable killers, of course.
(Come on, Jared -- whatever happened to "I'm going to Disneyland!"?)
Yes, the Hollywood Reporter broke the news that our boy Jared is in final talks to star in a reboot of the venerable Friday the 13th horror franchise. For those who aren't up on their venerable horror franchises, that's the one with the unstoppable killer who wears a hockey mask, as opposed to the unstoppable killer who has a burned face and has blades on his fingers, or the unstoppable killer who wears a Halloween mask and comes out on, well, Halloween.
In the reboot, Jared would star as an investigator who's trying to figure out what's behind all the bloody deaths at Camp Crystal Lake. Whew -- when we heard he was starring, we were afraid he'd be the man behind the mask. Wouldn't that be a waste?
The film is set to be released on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009.

Erica Durance shared some Smallville scoop, Amy Pietz talked about Aliens in America's controversial nature, and Ray Wise dished on his devilish ways on Reaper. Sniff! Summer's officially over -- the leaves are changing, school's back in session, and we can't wear white anymore without offending our elders. And with summer's close comes the official end of Sourcie season. But fear not. We have one last awesome wrap-up before we officially close the door on this summer's Sourcies. First -- the winner of last week's matchup!
It's no surprise which show won last week's Best Brother-to-Brother Argument. Over 25,000 of you voted, and once again, Supernatural handily defeated One Tree Hill with over ninety percent of the vote. Wow! It wasn't even close.

So remember how we told you guys that our audio failed when Jared talked in the press room tent at Teen Choice? And we blamed it on demons? Apparently those demons have a sense of humor -- or maybe they just really like Thomas Kinkade. We were able to salvage one brief portion of Jared's description of his Christmas Cottage role. While it's short, it's still worth a watch (um, it's Jared. Of COURSE it's worth a watch!). Check out what Jared has to say about playing the painter of light:
They're hugely popular stars with passionate fans. And this year, Jared Padalecki and Allison Mack felt the love with a Teen Choice nomination and a win, respectively. Jared was up for Choice TV Actor, Drama, and Allison won for Choice TV Sidekick. Recently, Jared and Allison opened up about Teen Choice to Jason C. on Supernatural and Smallville sets in Vancouver.
Both seem truly touched by the outpouring of support from their fans. Now we love them even more (if such a thing were possible). Find out why Jared says he owes Teen Choice a lot,
Jared just stopped by the press tent for a few questions. Since we were probably almost the first press group to arrive here, we'd staked out front-row seats in here. So we were about ten feet from Jared. Ahhh! The hotness. Somehow, we managed to maintain our composure and get in a few questions.
We'll have video up tomorrow of Jared's press room chat, including what he's listening to now, how he changed his mindset when going from taping Supernatural to Christmas Cottage, and even his fave holiday traditions (they get some pretty random questions in here). But here's one tidbit. Jared mentioned that he was totally hot (as in, sweating hot, not sexy hot), and one of the press gals shouted, "Take off your shirt, then!" And he honestly seemed like he was about to... which probably would have sent the room into a collective swoon (it's like 100 degrees in here). Alas. But nevertheless, he was very charming and forthcoming and chatty. More soon...
As you've probably heard, The Teen Choice Awards are coming up on Sunday, August 26. But what you haven't heard until today is that we're going to be there!
Yes, Jason C. and The CW Source crew will be on the red carpet before the event and interviewing some of the winners. We'll check out Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne's performances, and hopefully, we'll rub shoulders with some of our favorite stars, including ... Jared Padalecki, who's scheduled to present an award! Squee! But will Jensen be there to support his co-star in the audience? And which other CW stars might make an appearance?

But that's just for starters -- we're hearing that new celebs are still yet to be announced. And lots of others will surely be in the audience.

MTV has a new trailer up for Room 401, which looks like a sort of "Scare Tactics" type show where real people stumble across freaky or horrific incidents – something coming out of the television, corpses rising from the morgue, industrial accidents, occasional beheadings, the usual stuff you really don't want to see when you're heading around town. Normally, it's not our idea of a good time… but the trailer is narrated by the floating head of Jared Padalecki, and we see he'll be hosting the show a la Rod Serling in the Twilight Zone. We reported earlier that the folks form Supernatural would be appearing at Comic Con, the geek nirvana that descends on San Diego at the end of July. Now that the full schedule is out, we've learned that some more CW favorites will be showing up.
Supernatural: Catch Jared, Jensen, Eric Kripke, co-executive producer Ben Edlund and co-executive producer Peter Johnson on Saturday. The boys of Supernatural will present a highlight reel, answer questions, and discuss the upcoming third season. Sounds awesome!
Smallville: Also on Saturday, you can talk to Smallville masterminds Al Gough and Miles Millar and check out an all-new screening.
Reaper: On Friday, catch the pilot episode of the new series, introduced by new cast member Missy Peregrym (Heroes). Kevin Smith will also be hanging out at Comic Con (of course), but there's no word on whether he'll be in this screening.
The Spectacular Spider-Man: Not all of the CW's superheroes come on in primetime. Spidey will be appearing on Kids' WB! on the CW in early 2008. On Friday, get an early look at the art direction and exciting within the webslinger's newest animated adventures.
All the dates and times are subject to change, so check the schedule carefully closer to the date. We're seriously bummed we won't be in San Diego this year, but we'd love to hear form any of you who go!
We found this piece in The Langley Times and we just had to share. The article itself is interesting enough -- how the cast and crew of Jared Padalecki's upcoming film, "The Christmas Cottage," are descending upon the small town of Fort Langley to film -- but what really got us was the accompanying photo. There's Jared, there's other members of the cast and crew… and there, looming over everyone in the foreground, is actor Richard Moll, looking a full head taller than everyone else.
Somehow, the production managed to find one of the only actors in the world that can make Jared look puny.
We imagine this is one of the first times Jared has had a crick in his neck from looking up all day during filming scenes with a fellow actor. Now he knows how Jensen feels!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, congratulations are in order for Jared Padalecki. The magazine reports that Jared has a three-picture deal to play artist Thomas Kinkade, the "Painter of Light" and America's most collected living artist, for Lionsgate Films. First up, he'll be starring alongside screen legend Peter O'Toole in "The Christmas Cottage," which starts filming in Canada this month. Expect the film to hit theaters around - surprise! - Christmas.
We confess to experiencing a little mental whiplash when we heard the news - Thomas Kinkade is a lot different from Sam Winchester and Jared's most recent movie roles. We're used to seeing Jared involved in gory death and blood and torture and angst, not life-affirming feel-good pictures. And Thomas Kinkade is about as anti-angst as they come: he paints idyllic cottages, sun-dappled lighthouses, detailed church portraits - heck, he even makes Graceland look wholesome. It's quite a switch for a guy whose last several projects leaned more towards the gruesome.
Still, we're thrilled that Jared is getting his due as a leading man, and it's got to be a nice change not to have to wash off dried blood after a day's filming. And getting to work with Peter O'Toole? That's amazing! He's been in some of the greatest movies ever made. It's an incredible opportunity for a young actor.
Just promise us one thing, Jared - don't get suckered into a drinking contest with Peter. He's even more legendary for his drinking skills than he is for his acting chops.
