Kristen Bell on Gossip Girl, Heroes, and Veronica

We don't get to SEE her anymore on The CW, but we still get to hear Kristen Bell's deliciously snarky take on the Upper East Side melodrama. She caught up with us on the Old Navy blue carpet to talk about narrating Gossip Girl, working on Heroes, and missing Veronica Mars.

MORE: More from the Old Navy event: Blake Lively, Chace Crawford, and Sophia Bush!

Kristen Bell Is a Hero!

Kristen's a hero!We always knew Veronica Mars was a bad-ass, but now she’s got powers! Variety reports that Kristen Bell is joining the cast of Heroes for a multi-episode arc. She'll be playing a character named Elle, who is mixed up in the fates of Peter, Claire and H.R.G. And apparently she’ll start with a bang: We’re introduced to Elle when she will kick off her arc by commits a serious crime, though it’s unclear whether she’s good or bad. Huh. Sounds like another smart, sexy blonde we know.

The Heroes folks were thrilled to get Kristen on board – after all, she just turned down a spot on Lost, another show you might have heard of. “This was not easy to pull off,” said show creator Tim Kring. “But since we’re an ensemble show, with many arcs playing out through the year, we found a way to jump into a small window in (Bell’s) schedule.”

That schedule is filling up, what with Kristen filming the new Judd Apatow movie “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” lending her voice to Gossip Girl, and doing more voice work for the animated feature “Sheepish,” due out in 2008. Wow – she’s almost as busy as Terry Crews!

We can expect to see Kristen on Heroes in October. Will you be tuning in to see her, or will she always be Veronica Mars in your heart?

Update: Kristen Bell Not Going to Lost... But Is She Going to Broadway Instead?

Kristen Bell: Going to Broadway?Last week, we speculated about the rumors that Kristen Bell might be going to Lost. But it turns out they were just that -- rumors. Over the weekend, Ausiello updated his blog and revealed that Ms. Bell won't be going to Lost... and he suspects it's because she might be doing Legally Blonde on Broadway instead! He also implies that she didn't want to relocate to Hawaii (um, can we go instead?). Who knows what the real story is; his post is characteristally cryptic. That Ausiello, always toying with us!

What do you guys think about this latest development? Would you go see Kristen on Broadway, or should she stick to TV, the medium that made her a star?

Rumorville: Kristen Bell Going to Lost!?

Kristen BellTV Guide.com's Ausiello reports that Kristen Bell might be heading over to Lost this fall! She'd play "a hot twentysomething who is said to be 'precocious, loquacious and funny... a very successful academic who also knows how to handle herself in the real world.'"

Swap the word "academic" for "detective," and that description sounds like Veronica in a few years.

So is this a good potential move for Kristen? Is it a good move for Lost? We don't watch it regularly (we know, we know, we really need to get our hands on some DVDs. Off to our Netflix queue...), so we have no clue how'd she fit in with the cast. Hopefully those of you who are fans can enlighten us!

More importantly: will it even happen? It's still nowhere near official, but here's hoping we get some news soon to add to the Veronica-Mars-cast-moves-on file. What do you guys think?

Happy Birthday, Kristen Bell!

Kristen BellThe lovely Veronica Mars alum is 27 today! While we won't see her this fall in Veronica Mars due to its untimely cancellation, her voice will narrate Gossip Girl, so at least we'll get a small dose of Kristen on the small screen.

She's also busy with some big-screen projects. She'll appear as Zoe in 2008's Fanboys, and she's currently filming Forgetting Sarah Marshall, where she'll star as the title character alongside Paul Rudd and Mila Kunis.

Post your birthday wishes for Kristen Bell here!

CW Stars All Over Portrait Magazine's Top 30 Stars Under 30

Alexis Bledel, number 20Online teen mag Portrait magazine polled its readers to find out which stars under 30 deserved the most praise, and several CW stars made the list.

Alexis Bledel came in at number 20, and the magazine got her to speculate on what’s next for her after Gilmore Girls. “I write a lot, too, so I would like to write or direct in the future if I can,….I always thought that I would work behind the camera – it’s a more comfortable place for me to be, really.” Innnnteresting.

Smallville’s Allison Mack hit the list at number 10 – and Portrait pointed us to her travel log at www.allisonmack.com. Good stuff.

The cast of Veronica Mars was listed as The Critics’ Favorites at number 6 – if only the show had gotten the rating both critics and fans think it deserved. The magazine has a list of all the projects the cast is working on post-Veronica, so at least we’ll be able to see our favorites soon. We knew about Tina Majorino in Big Love, Chris Lowell’s turn on Private Practice, Kristen and Enrico’s upcoming movie roles, and Jason Dohring’s new part on Moonlight, but we hadn’t heard about Percy Daggs III’s role in “American Son,” or that Ryan Hansen would be appearing in “Sherman’s Way with Enrico, or that Julie Gonzalo was working on both Spanish-language and English films, along with producing another movie. Plus, Chris has a movie in the works and Tina is in the band The AM Project. Whew!

Finally, Portrait pays tribute to two of your favorite shows: One Tree Hill (number 3 on the list) and Supernatural (number 2). Check out the whole list!

The CW Upfronts: Gossip Girl Preview

No pressure or anything -- Dawn's calling Gossip Girl a possibly "network-defining show." She says it'll do for Manhattan what The O.C. did for Orange County.

Lots of rich prep school kids sleeping around...

Seems to be an abundance of shady hotel room affairs on this show. And a lot of martini-swilling teens.

And it sure sounds like Kristen Bell's voice narrating, as we heard yesterday...

It's all set to the tune of Fergie's "Glamorous" (thanks, CW, for getting this song stuck in my head).

Here are the stars of Gossip Girl, pretending to feud with each other about who's the REAL star. Hot cast, that's for sure. But no mention of what's obviously Kristen Bell's voice. Huh?

Dawn just said Wednesday nights will be "appointment television" for CW viewers.

Major digital media tie-ins: apparently you'll be able to create Gossip Girl avatars and virtually "hang out" on the Upper East Side. And you can somehow send your own gossip to billboards in Times Square and Sunset Boulevard (!?!?!).

Kristen Bell Going to Gossip Girl... But What About Veronica?

Kristen BellEW.com just announced that Kristen Bell will narrate The CW's Josh Schwartz-penned pilot Gossip Girl. Very interesting. Though nothing's been confirmed by the network (guys, you're killing us!), this tidbit makes us even more worried than we already were about the future of Veronica Mars. Would Kristen take on another major CW project if V-Mars' future was secure? We think not... but all of this is pure speculation. Plus, the role's a voice-over one, so she can quite literally phone it in, and if Veronica returns in some form, she might be able to do both... right?

Though many rumormongers are saying they hear Veronica has little chance of appearing on The CW's fall schedule, that doesn't necessarily mean the show's totally over. The CW's been known to bring stuff in mid-season, so just 'cause Veronica's off the fall schedule, we don't have to freak out... yet.

18 hours 'til the upfronts and all our questions are finally (hopefully) answered...
