Bones: "The Hero in the Hold"
Hodgins, Brennan and former FBI agent and Gravedigger author Thomas Vega have been ordered to appeara by a federal judge as possible suspects in the theft of Gravedigger evidence. They are introduced to Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather Taffet, who is currently handling the Gravedigger case. Whoever stole the evidence will get full immunity if they return it within 24 hours.
As Booth adjusts his "Cocky" belt buckle - which just happens to look smashing with the rented tux - he assures Bones he'll be on time to the ceremony in her honor. Disconnecting when someone knocks on his door, we cut back to Brennan, arriving at the Jeffersonian to pick up her guests, dressed in their best cocktail party gear.
Brennan gets a phone call ...Seeley Booth has been kidnapped and will die in 21 hours if they don't hand over missing evidence to the Gravedigger. No FBI involvement.
Booth wakes up and finds himself confined in what looks very, um, coffin-like. (Hey, didn't this happen to Nick on CSI?!) He uses his keys to unscrew the bolts in his cage... which actually turns out to be a yellow submarine. No, really, an itty bitty person-sized yellow submarine. Somehow that's freakier -- or at least more original -- than a coffin. He then hears a voice in a dark corner and out pops Teddy. Booth notes that Teddy, an army corporal we see through a flashback that Booth carried wounded in battle, died of his injuries. He must be hallucinating (again!). Hey, if you're going to be trapped on some twisted carnival ride, why not have a dead friend to keep you company, right?
It's up to the Squints to rescue Booth, and Brennan knows where to head first. Hodgins has the evidence. He's been investigating the Gravedigger case on his own, since he knows it won't get solved sitting with the U.S. Attorney. Of all the files, etc., the piece of metal that was embedded in Hodgins's leg when he was hit and then buried in the car with Brennan is what the Gravedigger really wants. It's the most likely to trace back to the killer's identity.
Angela can't unscramble the Gravedigger's voice from the phone call, but she does isolate the background noise, revealing seagulls. Beach blanket bingo anyone? Kings Beach Boardwalk, that's where Vega lives ...make that lived. Vega's dead in his car. Just then, Special Agent Payton Perotta arrives to find Brennan and Hodgins debating about removing the body to examine it. The FBI is following them, trying to figure out who stole the evidence. They refuse to reveal what they're really up to and the federal judge forbids them from seeing anything to do with the case, including examining Vega's body. AUSA Taffet appears almost gleeful, or maybe she just can't help that "I'm on the side of Eeeevil" look about her.
Booth manages to open part of a door and water starts pouring in. The rising water lifts him high enough to reach another door and, with Teddy's help (ghost power!), they get it open. He looks through a porthole and realizes he's on a ship. Then Teddy points out the all the plastic explosive placed around the cabin. They sink ships for reefs (school kids do the decorating, which explains all the creepy "Under the Sea" paraphernalia) - Booth finds the transponder rigged to set off the explosion but accidentally shorts it out trying to call for help.
Bones, desperate to save Booth, decides they're going to give up the evidence to the Gravedigger. They go to a park and place the evidence, as instructed, on a stone monument. There's a video pointed in their direction and Angela, working her geek magic, realizes there's a signal very close that isn't connected to the video. She yells at Brennan and Hodgins to run, just before the stone explodes. Looks like the Gravedigger is intent on living up to the moniker.
Temperance goes to Booth's brother Jared for help in getting Vega's body for examination and he says he'll "make a few calls." Gee, don't break a sweat, ok? He ends up coming through however, and delivers the body to the Jeffersonian. Vega has a wound indicating he hit his assailant so hard, the Gravedigger should, at the very least, have a few broken ribs. Any further discovery is halted by Taffet, who has arrived with a court order to bring Vega's remains back into the custody of the FBI. Funny... she's having trouble lifting her arm. Could she have broken ribs, perhaps? Oooh, so busted. I told you she was creepy!
Jared does a little intelligence gathering and discovers Taffet was briefly married years ago, probably with the sole purpose of creating another identity with which she rented a storage unit. In it, they find a van with some clothes and work boots. The boots have paint on them, which Hodgins determines was used by the Navy prior to 1961. They figure out which ship the Navy is planning to sink to make a reef and Bones hops on a helicopter to rescue Booth before he becomes fish food. Jared's led off in handcuffs - looks like he finally came through for big brother.
Booth rigs some of the explosive to blow through a compartment, which will get him to a set of stairs, using his belt buckle to complete the circuit.
Claire, Teddy's sweetheart, leaves flowers on the anniversary of his death. Teddy asks Booth to tell Claire he loved her. Teddy didn't come to haunt Booth, he came to say it wasn't Booth's fault. Booth and Brennan visit Arlington National Cemetery and the grave of Cpl. Edward Parker, 20. Aw, Seeley named his son Parker after the fallen solider. Booth delivers Teddy's message.
Brennan gives Booth a replacement "Cocky" belt buckle (which are apparently hard to find, wonder why?). She says it almost seems like Booth would have had to have help to get out of the ship and he says a ghost pitched in. Of course, she doesn't believe in ghosts, but as Booth walks over to the grave, Teddy walks past Brennan in full dress uniform and smiles back at Booth.

Time to make fun of all those D&D/WoW/RPG geeks out there, I guess. And hey, if Booth can go Hercules with a hockey stick, then Bones should get a chance to play Xena with a sword.
