Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: A Final Farewell

As much as we hate to hear it, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is apparently set for cancellation, according to the trustworthy Ausiello Files. Do we believe it? Unfortunately, we must admit that the show has probably come to an end, at least as far as FOX is concerned. We feel like a busted-up Cameron (Summer Glau) -- not able to fully calculate our pain but sure we would feel it if we knew how deep it went.

222ttscc_BornToRun_gr18.jpgIn keeping with the theme, we're taking a look back at what worked for us, what didn't, and what we'll miss. Season One was rather linear, but Season Two picked up the pace and gave us an intense ending that we won't soon forget. We were relieved when John Connor lost his emo hair and angst for a new, more concentrated John wracked with relationship issues when Riley came into the scene. As much as we loved to hate Riley, we were sad to see how she died at the hands of Jesse, who was her supposed protector.

We were often more intrigued by the subplot of Catherine Weaver (the T-1000) and her "children" -- the Artificial Intelligence John Henry trapped in a Terminator body and the little girl Savannah who was the daughter of the real Catherine Weaver. The development of John Henry's ethical teachings by Ellis made room for much discussion about what it means to be human and what separates us from machines. Weaver, although creepy at times, offered us insight into a pragmatic way of thinking. In the end, we were pleasantly surprised, although expectant, that she turned out to be preparing John Henry to combat against Skynet.

We were disappointed in Derek's reversal in behavior and shocked when he was killed, then even more shocked when he reappeared in the future that John jumped to in search of Cameron's chip. Overall, he was our favorite male figure in John's life, with Cameron of course being our favorite female figure. Despite Sarah Connor owning the title of the show, she was often on the backburner. There were a few striking exceptions, of course -- like her kidnapping experience, which she went through alone and never mentioned to the rest of her crew.

We were caught up in chasing the Native American motifs that continuously appeared throughout the show (most recently the final decision to save Sarah Connor from jail made by John and Cameron at the Apache Motel) without any real resolution. We were hoping for more closure on these notes and more, especially since it seems they knew the show was going to end. Maybe, in a way, the final episodes were that much more powerful because they were giving it all they had.

So what will we be doing to fill the hole in our lives? Watching the continuation of Season Four of Prison Break. Keep an eye out as we rekindle our relationships with those characters.

What do you think of the cancellation, and how are you going to cope? Talk about it in the comments!

What the Heck are you people thinking?
The Sarah Connor Chronicles, is 10x the other "shows" you have! Despite the crappy advertisement the folks at Fox gave TSCC, the show still did well and Always left you wanting more each episode! I couldn't get enough and couldn't wait for the next week! And now I hear it's being cancelled!!!??? If you want to cancel something cancel a brain dead show like "Prison Break" (wow that's a creative cutting edge plot) (what plot). Theo ONLY two shows I was looking forwared to were The Sarah Connor Chronicles (TSCC) and 24. The other "stuff" is a waste of my time and energy. Do yourself and all of us a massive favor and KEEP TSCC.

I am really disappointed that they have canceled the Sarah Connor Chronicles. I looked forward to watching each week to see what was going to happen next. This was one of the few shows on Fox that I enjoyed watching.
