Prison Break: Rate of Exchange

422pbfinale_Sc46_0113.jpgTo soften the blow of the final (really final) finale of Prison Break, we were given a two hour special filled with emotional turmoil. How does it end? In blood and tears, of course, but mostly the good kind, depending on your perspective.

Michael can't make a choice between Linc and Sara -- he's going to save them both. Since Linc's situation is more time-sensitive, Michael goes for him first, with a planned meeting with Christina for exchanging Scylla. Of course, that's not the real plan -- he makes a box of homemade explosives. When they meet, Christina doesn't reach the tripwire, but one of her men does. Christina escapes with Linc and threatens him by saying he won't live long enough to be an uncle, only Linc doesn't know what she's talking about. Of course, Sara hasn't told anyone!
Stress builds since everyone's time is short. Christina's told that the Prime Minister Banerjee wants to know why he hasn't received Scylla yet. Krantz calls Michael to remind him of what's at stake, but Michael buys himself time by using the cop hunt as an excuse. If he's caught, after all, the Scylla technology will be nabbed along with him. Christina gives Michael 10 minutes to make a decision, but Michael demands to talk to Linc, who ends up telling him that Sara is pregnant! Oh no, what to do?

Meanwhile, there isn't just one person out to get the brothers. FBI agents interrogate Self about Michael's location after he wakes up in a hospital. Sucre and C-Note reappear, as C-Note insists on helping the brothers out of the situation they're in. Someone has contacted them offering assistance, but we don't see them... just a mysterious man with a ring with an eagle emblem.

Time is up. Michael advises Mahone to go do what he can to save Pam. Banerjee leaves the United States, believing that Scylla won't be delivered by Christina. Christina has no reason to keep Linc alive any longer, so she prepares to shoot him, but Mahone calls her and offers Scylla in exchange for protection of his family and Linc's release. Michael heads off to exchange Scylla for Sara, but unbeknownst to him, Mahone has switched cases and Michael's is empty...

Mahone and Christina play a game as they try to get each other to take the first move. Only Self's conversations with the FBI agents are known and get in the way of a smooth exchange. Christina can't trust them. A doctor meets Self, who still in his hospital bed, but it's not a doctor, it's really Downey! Downey injects drugs through Self's IV and holds him down.

Michael leaves the Scylla case in the parking lot where Krantz is supposed to meet him, but of course they quickly find out that it's empty. Michael is somewhere else with a rope... He is on his way scaling up walls to save Sara from T-Bag, who is about to rape her. Michael smashes T-Bag over the head, then takes Sara in his arms. Romantic? In a weird just-rescued-from-rape way.

Sure enough, Mahone hands over Scylla to Christina, but she refuses to offer Pam protection until she makes sure the technology is in good working order. Only... Michael took one step ahead of them. Earlier, he had switched Scylla's parts with explosives. We end on Sara and Michael leaving together, Mahone dragging off a wounded Linc, and Christina and Downey facing an ominous blinking red light in the case they've worked so furiously to get.
