Returning shows on FOX: Get the Scoop on Fringe, Lie to Me, Dollhouse, Terminator, SYTYCD and More!

fox-returning.gifIt's official! We now have the FOX Network TV schedule for 2009-2010, so let the discussion begin!

First, the good news: Some of our favorite shows are returning. Fringe and Lie to Me, the two strongest freshman series, continue to see the network love, as we already knew. Lie to Me moves to Monday night, following House. It's a night of prickly, insulting-yet-adorable geniuses with parental issues and complicated love lives! Just imagine a crossover between those shows -- Lightman as patient, picking up every lie that House and his minions told, or House trying to diagnose weird medical reasons Loker's pathological honesty.

We get two different takes on the FBI on Thursday, as Fringe jumps nights to follow Bones. Twice the horrific corpse effects, twice the fun! Could Booth and Brennan's will they/won't they dance be part of The Pattern? Will Brennan ever be called in to identify some particularly gnarly remains that Olivia, Walter and Peter stumble over? We know, it's unlikely, but this is the sort of thing that keeps us up at night. We need help.

Find out the fate of Dollhouse, Terminator, So You Think You Can Dance and more after the jump!

The last freshman series returning: Dollhouse. We were worried for a while there that the ratings-challenged mind-blower wouldn't make the cut, but Kevin Reilly, President for Entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company, says "This is a bet on Joss Whedon...it's a bet on creativity." Plus, he said, "if we had canceled Joss' show, I'd probably have 100,000 new angry emails this morning." And at least 1000 of them would have been from us!

We're also going to see twice as much dancing on FOX. So You Think You Can Dance will have a double run this year, following up its summer season with a fall series. In the winter, the dancers will be replaced by singers, as American Idol comes back to establish its dominance over all it surveys.

We can expect plenty more Gordon Ramsay on our TV screens: Both Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares will be returning, although we don't know quite when. We'll let you know as soon as we find out! And Jack Bauer will be saving the world again on Monday nights this winter on 24 -- after he survives this awful day!

That's the good news with our returning shows. But there is some bad news: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is indeed dead. We were hoping they'd change their minds after the mind-bending, time-traveling, future-warping season finale... but no such luck. Sigh. Terminator had a good run, and we'll miss it.

So that's the scoop on the show you already know and love -- check back soon for our take on the new FOX shows! Plus, we'll have a full report from the Upfronts presentation tonight!
