Dollhouse -- "Epitaph One" Details & Season 2 Dish

dh-ep113_Sc24_5914(2).jpgWe have a confession to make: so far, we've been too cheap to shell out the bucks for the Dollhouse Season 1 DVD, which hit stores July 28. Shame! But, it's partly to protest the sad fact that the mysterious unaired episode "Epitaph One" can't be purchased on iTunes, unlike the rest of the season we gleefully downloaded, and partly because we're being cheap. But, never fear, we have details on the long lost/DVD-only episode anyway!

Find out more after the jump.

According to EW's Ken Tucker, the plot could have been a series-ender (when Whedon and Co. thought the show might get canceled). The mind-bending action takes place 10 years in the future, following an apocalypse (brought on by mad scientist Topher?).

The episode follows a group of rebels, including Felicia Day, of "Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog", and only gives us glimpses of Echo/Caroline, in something of a cameo role. Don't worry if you're being stingy, like we are -- missing "Epitaph One" won't make the next season hard to follow. It's now something of a flashback from the events of 2019.

Aside from all the delicious guest stars to look forward to, there's even more that has us salivating for the Dollhouse season premiere on Sept. 25.

Series creator Whedon is writing and directing the second season's first episode, according to Matt Mitovich of TVGuide.com, so expect quippy dialogue-goodness and plenty of interesting developments. Main characters which appeared in "Epitaph One" make an appearance -- ok, ok, we'll buy the DVD! -- and the new season will also include follow-up on Victor's scars and Whiskey's shocking discovery that she was once a doll, according to E! Online's Watch With Kristin team.

But, there's some dark news on the horizon: Mitovich also reports Whedon teased fans during the Comic-Con panel that "There is one trustworthy person in the Dollhouse -- and I'm going to kill them." Gah! Commence with the wailing and gnashing of teeth in the comments.

Either Boyd Langton is the one that Whedon is planning on killing or we've been led to believe that he is trustworthy when he isn't.
