Oh swoon. We've waited so long. Our dearest, strangest, most icky Fringe has returned. Yes, we're a little thrilled about it. Last season's cliffhanger has been bothering us all summer. And funnily enough... it looks like it will go on bothering us. The most common statement yelled at the TV this viewing was, "Wait... what?" so let's look at the top three things that made us so vocally confused... And the semi-sorta mostly-dead Olivia isn't even on the list.
Wait, what? #1 - You're cheating us out of the kiss?
Sure, sitting up and shouting in Greek is Fringishly bizarre, but we wanted to know if Peter was going for a sisterly peck on the cheek or something more romantic.
Wait, what? #2 - The old "X" designation.
Woahh man. We had people jumping out of their seats pointing at the TV asking for a rewind on the Tivo. Seriously. Did they just say this is all happening in the X-Files universe? Did they mean that? We all joked about the Fringe Division being the new X Files, but we didn't think they would pretty much admit that's what's happening.
Wait, WHAT? - The OTHER kiss
This one had a few of us picking our chins up off the floor. We're glad Olivia's boss and Bionic Arm Woman have found each other, but.... um.... wow. Just wow.
So let's move on. There were also a couple of very nice touches in this episode. Our favorites:
Nice Touch #1
Admit it. Every last one of you noticed the TV in the dead guy's appartment was showing the X Files. That episode where Mulder finds the camera in his ceiling. Yep. That was Too Cool.
Nice Touch #2
Yay! Backstory for Charlie! But Awww. Poor Charlie. His partner was killed and he was shot in the chest. Awww. That scene at Olivia's bedside was the most tender one in the episode. Which made us even more crankier when we saw that Charlie was the one who had been body snatched.
And we leave you with the two Best Lines of the show:
Bishop - "That is correct Astrix."
Astrid - "Astrid."
Random Cop - "Lunatic. This body's going to the morgue. Is he crazy?"
Bishop - "Peter?"
New Girl - "Take it wherever he wants." (To Peter) "Is he crazy?"
Peter - "Oh yeah."

After the big reveal at the end of last season, I think they found a somewhat clever way to back off that storyline a bit (I say somewhat because amnesia is a common tool in TV).
It really is BIG news .. and this allows them to wait longer (though I don't know how long) before "here" learns about "there"
