Bones -- "The Foot in the Foreclosure"
But wait, there's more after the jump!
If a person is... say... on the heftier side, and happens to be wearing something inordinately flammable (like polyester), and then just so happens to catch on fire, the intensity of the burning material may start to burn the person's fat more quickly. And, since fat would melt and burn internally (or some such thing), it's much like a burning a candle. Everything stays contained, turns to ash and burns nothing else around it. So much for spontaneous combustion: one more to add to the list of ways in which we don't wanna go out.
Some nagging questions:
- After discovering one of the victims was wearing a vest from PriceCo (using one of Angela's many improbable techno-wizardry ideas), Booth heads over to the store and is able to get the manager to identify the victim without much trouble. Ok, fine. But if this store is a Wal-Mart/Costco stand-in, what are the odds Booth would go to the one location where the victim worked, when there's likely dozen of stores in the DC area?
- Would a woman who has just lost nearly half her body weight really wear her bright orange polyester vest from work to a club in search of a love connection?
- We understand the temptation to use Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Baby Got Back" to create ambiance in a club for those livin' large, but they couldn't have come up with something a little more subtle?
Digging past the night's mystery -- involving a woman who lost 100 lbs, but continued to find companionship at a "feeders and eaters" club (just switching sides), and her unfortunate date for the evening -- let's focus on Pops. Booth's grandfather, who raised him after his abusive father took off, is in town for a visit. It's no surprise that Hank (or Pops, as Booth calls him) is feisty, sweet and has no trouble discerning how the detective duo really feels about each other. When they drop him off back at the retirement community, he takes each aside to pass on some much-needed advice:
Pops (indicating Booth): "He's big and strong, but he's going to need someone. Everybody needs someone. Don't be scared."
Brennan: "Scared? What? I'm not scared of anything."
Pops: "It all goes by so fast; you don't want any regrets."
Brennan: "I don't understand."
Pops: "Yes, you do."
Pops (pointing to Booth's heart): "Now listen, it's all in there. Everything you need to know. (Looks at Brennan.) You just do what it tells ya."
From your lips to the writers' ears, Pops!
