House: A Day in the Life of Wilson
And we have to admit, House's interruptions are a breath of fresh air when we see things from Wilson's point of view. Their friendship makes much more sense to us now.
But most importantly in this episode, we discover that Wilson has hit his limit of niceness. He makes a huge sacrifice for one of his patients (who he thinks of as a friend) and things don't turn out the way Wilson thought they would. More after the jump, but first -- vote in the poll and drop us a comment.
Of course, being fans of House (both the show and the character) we all saw the inevitable ending coming. Here's about how it went:
- Patient cultivates Wilson as a friend.
- Patient has a relapse.
- Wilson tries to find wacky curable diagnoses to explain what House sees from the beginning is actually cancer.
- Patient gets sicker.
- Patient cozies up to ex-wife and child.
- Wilson admits the patient has cancer and treats it.
- Patient gets worse.
- Wilson doubles the chemo dose and cures the cancer, but kills the patient's liver.
- Patient needs a liver transplant.
- House tries to bring in a last-minute replacement liver.
- He fails.
- Wilson gives patient part of his own liver.
- Patient recovers, ditches ex-wife and goes back to much, much younger new girlfriend.
What we didn't see was Wilson taking steps to change himself after this severe case of disenchantment. We truly felt for the poor guy as he realized nobody else in the world is half as nice as he is.
And we admit that we love the new "loft" Wilson snatched out from under Cuddy's real estate offer. They were all so vague about offer vs. contract vs. whatever, we couldn't tell exactly how mean Wilson was in his maneuvering, but we think we'll like seeing him discover what House can teach him about life for once.
Was this a gimicky episode where the "stars" were relegated to cameos? Absolutely. And we loved it.
