House: A Conscience Can Be Such A Drag
We share House's fascination with psychopaths, and we particularly dug the one this week. And by dug, we mean dislike yet were compelled to watch.
So the theme this week seemed to be having a conscience, or the lack thereof. Miss Psychopath Patient was a great villain! When she was finally correctly diagnosed, treated, and started having feelings again...we still disliked her. So hooray for a good villain.
More House after the jump!
So House is fascinated with this week's patient's psychopathy. Who wouldn't be? We loved that in Houseland, it was a symptom to a copper intolerance. What is the likelihood of that? Does that mean we can let our various exes from days gone by off of the hook for handling too many pennies? Yeah, we didn't think so.
How tragic that House has a conscience after all, but cannot figure out how to assuage it or how to direct the energy to make amends or why his effort was so unsatisfying. Despite all the references to his own emotion-free psychotic tendencies, he's clearly got some deeply running rivers that he just can't handle. Makes us wonder if he's going to go back to his Vicodin habit to manage the angst. The check he wrote to the former med school classmate who was down on his luck sure appeared to have less of a calming effect than the Vicodin used to.
We think House needs to go back to therapy. The impulsiveness of damaging Cuddy's photos was nothing short of childish and addict-like. What's up, teenage House in a 50-year-old body! We felt like the check as an act of altruism to a guy who created his own bad luck was certainly redeeming in the general karmic sense, but clearly brought House little relief.
We're sorry that he's in love with Cuddy but she's moved on (good for her!) C'est la vie, my friend. She did wait an awfully long time for you to figure it out. Better luck next time.
