House: One Singular Sensation, Every Little Step (s)He takes...
What a great House episode to open 2010! The patient in crisis plotline this week was a little formulaic...you know, House meets despicable sick guy/drug dealer, team is skeptical and self-righteous to sick guy/drug dealer, sick guy/drug dealer turns out to be an undercover cop, sick guy / undercover cop cannot be saved and dies a hero in his wife's (unseen in 16 months) arms. Cheery! Only the good die young.
OK, maybe we're being a little unfair. The interaction between dying guy and his drug dealer scummy buddy (played by Nick Chinlund) was pretty deep and weirdly heart-tugging. We're inclined to love anything Nick Chinlund does anyway -- the scummier the better. But we have to say we thought his deep, obvious concern for his dying friend was touching. Maybe after his arrest he saw the light. Or maybe he went to prison, honed his skills for a while, and became a real badass. The latter seems more likely, yes?
Way more interesting was the personal-life plotline with House and Wilson. Read about Wilson's outwitting House in the competition for the girl after the jump!
We loved this scene. We loved that Wilson interrupted House unprofessionally because he was so appalled that his crush thought he was gay and that House could not have cared less. Except for the part where he loves to have new ways to needle Wilson and was handed this opportunity on a silver platter.
Even we didn't see the giant Chorus Line poster coming. And Evita!? Seriously? That was inspired, House, we have to give it to you. Way to play into Nora's perception of what gay men must be into. Speaking of Nora, Yay! We heart Sasha Alexander and have had the poor judgement not to have seen anything she's been in since leaving NCIS. Hope she's a recurring character.
So, once we figured out House's game, we figured it was Wilson 0, House 1. What we did not see coming? Wilson proposing to House as House was having dinner with Nora. We spluttered our adult beverages through our noses. High high comedy, and happily the score is now House 0, Wilson 1.
Final parting thought: House should never, ever pick out furniture. That orange home theater monstrosity? No.
