Human Target: Butt-kicking Tango
Chance's dance partner is an FBI agent who is on the lookout for a spy. Since Chance is there looking for the same spy, that should work out nicely. But first there's some mistaken identity ("You think I'm a prostitute? You think I'm a $40 prostitute?"), some bluffing (Chance has the Secretary of Defense on speed dial?), and a wee bit of near-fatal poisoning.
See, Raven is a spy who's selling secrets to the highest bidder. Raven killed Chance's old friend Danny, then poisoned Danny's journalist brother and (ulp!) Chance himself. So Chance had extra incentive to find the spy. First he had to bluff his way into a party at the Russian Embassy (and Chance cleans up niiiiice), then he had to deal with a suspicious Emma (the always fab Emmanuelle Vaugier), the Russian special forces, and his own impending death. Eep!
Chance's keen powers of observation unmask the spy (hint: Never trust the smarmy state-department suit), and his keen powers of, um, tongue dexterity get him a lockpick that had spent most of its life as an innocuous earring in Emma's jewelry box. We're thinking that little performance may have had something to do with Emma's determination to find him at hte end of the episode. Too bad Chance is a man of mystery -- his prints bring up a "john Doe" file with screen after screen of aliases.

Next week: Chance gets religion when he protects someone in a monastery. Bring it!
Things we learned:
- Chance isn't the only man who succeeds by reading the manual -- Guerrero spends some time familiarizing himself with the instructions for a portable defibrillator that he just happened to pick up.
- Winston tends to hover, but that can be a good thing -- if he hadn't been looming over Guerrero's shoulder, he wouldn't have seen the Bluetooth coupling code.
- Chance speaks Russian and spent time in Kosovo when things were particularly bad.
- Chance has a "friends-and-family plan" that's slightly more extensive than your average cell-phone provider: Call this number, and he'll know someone's trying to kill you.
- The femoral artery bleeds just as fast as the jugular. Something to keep in mind the next time you're sparring/tangoing with a potential spy.
- Simon Tam survived the Reavers and went back in time to become a local-affairs journalist. (Hi, Sean Maher! We've missed you!)
- Guerrero has a gas mask on hand for emergencies. Yay?
