24: Cuts Like A Knife

24_Sc608-609_8176.jpgDAY 8: 10PM - 11PM

We pick up Hour 7 with President Taylor trying to keep up support for her peace accord with Kamistan President Hassan -- difficult, because he's becoming more and more paranoid. So paranoid, in fact, that he's had Tarin, his number-one man, detained and number two guy, Nabeel, is now "just following orders." When Day 8 first began the peace process story line, it had all the making of an unbelievable snooze-fest. But at this point we welcome some political sparing because...

The Dana/Jenny, Kevin Wade story line is heating up! Wade and his prison pal got into the police lockup with help from Dana -- who was able to slip away, again, from the national emergency. She provided him with all the codes necessary. Wade and company got the money but prison pal wanted more. At this point Wade is the smartest person in the room, and that's not saying much. They of course spend too much time looting and were discovered. But after laying a beat-down on the cop, they were able to escape.

So far, Arlo is the only one to be concerned with Dana's actions, and so far, he's just talking to  Chloe. Since Chloe thinks he's a perv and tells him to mind his own business, that's not aterribly effective way of spreading the word. We here at Fox Fix are calling for a peaceful, or better yet, explosive end to this storyline. Like the new kid on "Married with Children," who was suddenly erased from existence the next season, if this story arc is gone next hour with absolutely no mention of Dana, Wade, the break-in or their mysterious past, we're good with that.

Meanwhile, back at Vladimir's hideout, the effort to buy some nuclear rods isn't going well. Vlad has yet to stir up a deal but he has stirred up Jack with all of his fondling of and sweet talk with Renee. When Renee pushes Vlad to keep trying to find a buyer he questions her motives, just like we did. Vlad thought for some reason that Renee had come back for him. We thought so too. When she told him it was for the deal, Vlad lost it, delivering a couple of hard hits to Renee's face. Renee responded with an amazing knife to the eye and several stabs to the chest before Jack stepped in and got knifed himself. Never fear though, Jack removed his glasses, turning him back into the real Jack Bauer, who was then able to throw the knife across the room and into the neck of Lugo while gunning down Vlad's last man.

Our big problem here is that the next people to arrive at Vlad's hideout are the Russian goons who end up capturing Jack. How did they get there so much quicker than Ortiz? Wasn't Ortiz tailing Jack? That must mean Sergei and the rest of the Russians are real close, right? We know better than to ask these questions - but we must!

As far as Renee having another motive for wanting to see Vladimir, that appears to not be an issue now that he's dead. But is Renee done? We figure offing Vlad was part of her plan because of events that happened between them six years ago. But is there more?

We close with CTU finally making it to the hideout where they find Renee, who tells them Jack was taken by the Russians. Despite all the surveillance devices they have, they can't tell that Jack, who has seemingly disappeared, has just been taken out via the sewer system.

We know we've asked a lot of questions in this post with few answers; but isn't that how we like our "24?"

Will Jack and Renee become a couple? Will CTU finally discover what Dana/Jenny has been up to? What will Sergei do now that news of his nuclear rods has leaked? Tick...tick...tick...
