The last song was sung, the last tear was shed, the last Sueism was uttered... until next season. In ways it was very predictable. Of course Sue would be the judge, of course Quinn would go into labor and of course they wouldn't win, but Glee club wouldn't be over.

But enough about how smart we are, lets talk some Glee!

Glee: Funk

Well, we've been waiting for this. The Gleeks' Glee has collectively faltered and Jesse has outed himself as a Vocal Adrenaline automaton in ill-fitting New Directions clothing. What we weren't waiting for was Will's squirm-inducing use of the term "hump day," Quinn's number with the Unwed Mothership Connection and Sue's Abraham Lincoln diatribe, though all of them did make us squeal.

A lot of plot points and characters were covered, but this episode was much more accessible and tightly-spun than last week. Perhaps because feeling like you're in a funk -- and funk music in general -- is more accessible than "theatricality." After all, everyone gets James Brown, but not everyone understands Lady Gaga's crawdad headpiece.

But dressing like Gaga and belting out Barbra Streisand weren't the only manifestations of the plot device. We got to witness the limits of some of our characters in rather unsavory ways, along with their capacity for growth.

Needless to say, there was a lot of plot development, so let's get right down to it.
Frankly, we were expecting someone flashier and slightly more sadistic (basically, Sue Sylvester), but this character did a lot more for the emotional development of this week's lead characters. Plus, NPH really does play the bitter card well.

We followed three dreamers around this week; Bryan, Rachel and Artie. Turns out Bryan used to be Will Schuester's idol/tormentor in glee club, rife with talent and the ladies' attentions. And one kick-ass mullet. However, when the Broadway dream led straight back to Lima and a crack pipe, the bitter juice started to flow. It doesn't help that Ryan is in town to help Principal Figgins whittle down the budget, since he puts Glee club on the chopping block. It's Will's job to lead him back to the light.
But this is first time her pipes have not been up to par. And we actually couldn't be more pleased, because the rest of the club picked up the slack magnificently. Everyone seemed to be singing in exactly their range and best genre, as Schue's assignment dictated, and when they didn't it even worked to their advantage, thereby making Kurt's "Pink Houses" the campiest number he's done to date.

Actually, it was more like a charging semi slamming into a lake, but at least they had Kristin Chenoweth, the obstacles of coming-of-age and some serious plot development to back it up.

We got to explore the more emotions and issues high school students navigate every day and we saw a lot of the characters outside of their comfort zone. Mercedes was made to feel inadequate as a Cheerio, Kurt's relationship with his father was badly shaken and Sue didn't feel the need to say exactly what was on her mind for the first time ever.
Glee: Music, divas and vengeful behavior from Terri and Jesse St. James

The cast of Glee excels at Diva-esque behavior -- and no one has brought the boy diva like recent addition Jesse St. James. Broadway star Jonathan Groff tells us what it's like to join such a tight-knit cast, explains why Jesse may be Rachel's perfect match, and talks about the music he gets to perform:

Then Jessalyn Glisig gives us the scoop on Terri -- why she's so horrible to Emma, whether we can expect to hear her pipes, and what Terri's theme song would be:

Glee: Hell-o

Wow. Was the kick-off episode of Glee really only 46 minutes? Because there was a lot crammed in there. We're currently on drama/sensory overload. And still cringing from the permanently pained expression on Rachel's face.

There was definitely a lot to cover after all the loose ends left when we last saw the Glee kids, and we're glad the show did it while still sliding in ample Sue-isms, two new superstar cast members and AC/DC.

GaGa for Glee

"We reached out to Lady GaGa and she said, 'Yes, I'd love to be a part of it.'"

It seems the sky is the limit with wrangling guest stars for Glee. Other confirmed guests include Olivia Newton-John and Neil Patrick Harris.

We can't wait to hear who else is in for the ride this season; Elton John? Barbara Streisand? The ghost of Gene Kelly? We're giddy with antici...

...pation.
